A Frightening Sight
Everything seemed to slow down. The two girls, the wind, the trees, the branches, the cat, and just about everything else. Lavender was still sitting there, obviously pretending to be asleep so she didn't have to do any work on getting down herself. "Ahhhh-" Sophie clapped her hands around her mouth to stop herself from making any sudden noises. Lavender may be pretending to sleep, but that doesn't mean very loud noises can't scare her a few feet back. Sophie glanced down at the branch that had just fallen and broken into very uneven pieces. One was at least 10 times smaller than the other.
Sophie felt relieved that Lavender had expected the loud noise, since she'd seen a boy rescue a cat back in London by climbing up there. The noises drew attention from all around the park. Sophie pushed that thought away, now they were in Hogwarts, not London. Attention was the last thing she wanted, because maybe it would be a little too embarrassing to see a first year out-brave a second year.
"Are you alright? Because if you need help then I could come up there with you..." Sophie called up to Daphne. Sophie would not want to be the reason an innocent first year got hurt, because technically it was her decision to not come up there with Daphne and let her go alone. Please don't be hurt Please don't be hurt Sophie shut her eyes tight and crossed her fingers. Did she make the worst decision in her life?Mentioning: @

"No, no stay there! You are Lavender's owner and she'll always need you!" Daphne rose her voice so that Sophie would be able to hear her. "I know that it may not seem that way, but animals are difficult. Even dogs aren't always happy all the time!" She was trying to make Sophie feel better as reached the final branch, being able to properly sit on it. Daphne carefully wrapped her arms around Lavender and held her close to her chest as she made her way back down the branches. For some reason, she was able to get down better than she could go up. Daphne finally reached the last step, keeping her arms above her head in case she had fallen or if the cat suddenly decided to attack. "There! I think..I think she's fine?" She was breathing heavily and beads of sweat ran down Daphne's forehead. She was pretty stressed but she was trying her best not to show it. Up close, one could see that took a lot out of her. Her arms were trembling along with her legs, for she wasn't a very athletic person. Not to mention the tiny splinters imbedded her arms or palms, which she couldn't feel due to the rush of adrenaline.

Lavender might seem like she's having a bad day, and she's just a bit unhappy at the moment. That's what Sophie thought at first, but it turns out Lavender always seemed like she was having a bad day. Being lazy and unwilling to cooperate, being able to do something that saved a lot of time but deciding to not, and making others do something she could've done herself. Sophie didn't hate Lavender, she just disliked the fact that she was the laziest thing she'd ever met. Lavender had shown Sophie her softer side before, but she would always return to her lazy side before you knew it.
"Thanks." Sophie said. "I'm sorry she's lazy, that's totally my fault for spoiling her too much. If I were to do it all again I wouldn't have spoiled her at all." Sometimes Sophie was happy about how she used pamper Lavender since Lavender now only trusted her and almost no one else. Most of the time, Sophie regretted it, Lavender's laziness and all, it was the worst.
She glanced down at her cat, who had gone from having the most shocked face she ever had in her life to running around the two girls' legs sniffing everywhere. Suddenly, it hit her. Lavender hadn't been scared, she was just trying to get out of having to jump down herself. She wasn't shocked because the way down was horrifying or anything, she was only surprised because she thought the girls would have to work much harder to rescue her.
Oh well. Sophie thought. There wasn't anything she could do now. She'd have to wait until she got back to the common room to lecture Lavender in cat language somehow. She figured she'd figure it out later. Since she couldn't scream at any cat at the moment.Mentioning: @Nobody

"Hey! Don't apologize...spoil your cat, really do it! While it can be important for pets like cats who roam around outside to learn to take care of themselves and what to do in the case their owner isn't there temporarily, animals are only with us for so long. We have to make their lives the best while they are here, you know? Who knows, maybe she just went up there to get your attention, maybe instead of just going to cuddle with you in bed, she's smart enough to make up a reason why you'd have to. Like...getting stuck in a tree!" She said while her fingers ran along the gray cat's fur who suddenly got up. She then watched as the cat jumped from her arms, sniffing and running around them. "Well! I think that settles it; Lavender is fine! Don't be too hard on yourself, Sophie, if she wasn't lazy, she'd probably try to run up a whole lot of trees all the time. Or try to catch a bird and injury herself doing it." Daphne gave Sophie's shoulder a soft pat and then went to get her things now that the matter was done with. "Since we're both Hufflepuffs, if she ever gets out again or I see her in the common room, I'll be sure to keep an eye on her to make sure she doesn't get out again, alright?" She tucked her books underneath her arm as she got ready to continue her way to the library to study. "I really got to go catch on some reading though! I'll see you at lunch, alright, Sophie?" Daphne said, taking a moment to scratch Lavender's lower back while she was turned before heading back inside.

Maybe Lavender did have a reason to climb up a tree, be lazy, and not come down. Maybe Sophie didn't understand Lavender as much as she thought she did, after all, she was a cat. Sophie waved goodbye as Daphne left, then she turned to Lavender. "Now you are safe and sound, I'm going to take you back to the common room. And don't jump out of my arms and start running away." She picked Lavender up and made sure she couldn't escape. She noticed Lavender was staring at where Daphne had just been, and if Sophie hadn't picked her up in time, she probably would've followed Daphne inside. After a while, Lavender stopped. She immediately turned to Sophie and gave her a hungry look.
Oh. You're hungry. Sophie thought. She held Lavender a bit tighter and headed towards the common room. She reached into her pocket, her other arm still holding Lavender so she couldn't escape. Sophie dug around but found no edible food for a cat. Disappointed, she dropped Lavender and reached for her other one. Still no food. Sophie sighed, and reached for her cat. She snatched the impatient Lavender up, holding her firmly by her side. Sophie continued her way back to the common room.Thread finishedMentioning: @No one
