His biological mother is a witch by the name Ursa Bartlett while his father is a muggle named James Smith. Ursa raised Harris until he was two and a half, when she found herself unable to care for him any longer. Her neighbors at the time, Nolan and Elliot Nocturne, offered to adopt the child, as they were capable of caring for another. She agreed. While it was assumed she would visit her son, she never did. The Nocturnes moved to Alston when Harris was about 4, not once did Ursa ever come to see him.
Harris got along swimmingly with his adopted family, and though he knows he's adopted, he considers them his real family. He has three older brothers, Dustin, nine years older than Harris, Carter, six years older, and Kasey, two years older.
When Harris turned five, his family was introduced to the magical world. Dustin had purchased a scented candle. This candle instantly garnered Harris's attention and kept it for the next few weeks as Dustin lit the thing from time to time. Finally, Harris requested that he, a bouncy five-year-old with shaky hands, be allowed to light the candle. When Dustin turned him down, the began to bicker. It was during their "argument" that Harris somehow managed to light the candle, without a lighter, or even being that close to it. From then on, the Nocturnes knew that Harris wasn't completely normal. Even though they technically could contact Ursa, they didn't. And she didn't contact them either.
Years later, when Harris was eleven and Dustin was getting the last of his things to move out, someone, who he later learned was a professor at Hogwarts, showed up at the house. They explained things that Harris never knew; they told the Nocturnes of a magical world that was hidden in plain sight! And that Harris was a part of this world. It certainly explained the bouts of random and unexplainable events that started with the candle.

Parents
ReducioHarris's biological mother. A Slytherin and graduate of Hogwarts. While she did care for Harris until he was three, she didn't care much for him. She now lives in the muggle world, ordinary to everyone.
ReducioHarris's biological father. Never knew he had a son and has no idea where Ursa is or what she's doing.
ReducioOne of Harris's two dads, the one he actually calls Dad. He owns a small shop in Alston that Harris and his brothers help out in most summers.
ReducioElliot Nocturne née Greenwood, is the other one of Harris's two dads. Harris calls him Papa. While he has an English degree, he works at an animal shelter that takes in both domestic and wild animals, depending on what kind.

ReducioThe eldest of the Nocturne brothers and the only one with a biological relation to Nolan. He's nine years older than Harris and the closest to him. When Harris got his letter from Hogwarts, Dustin had already moved out of the house. He is studying to become a veterinarian.
ReducioThe eldest middle child of the Nocturne family. Carter acts far more mature than the rest of his brothers and it is very noticeable. While he loves and cares for all his family, he is a bit more withdrawn and not fond of physical contact, like hugs, unlike his brothers. He doesn't know what he's going to do once he's finished school, but he would like to help Nolan at the shop more.
ReducioThe dumb blonde of the family. Except he's not blonde, but a ginger. He has a knack for getting into impossible and often dangerous situations. He is the opposite of Harris in almost every way. Where Harris is good at cooking, Kasey has nearly committed accident arson in the same kitchen. He's loud and loves being around people.
