Sorting Ceremony Sept 2022

Cynthia was sad to see that @Skye Morrowgot sorted into Slytherin, but that was fine. ‘Beaufort, Cynthia,’ a voice called. She held her head high and walked over to the hat. Hello, Sorting Hat, she said in her head. The sorting hat was a bit surprised, for most people do not take the time to say hello to it. ‘Well, you are very intelligent Cynthia. But you are ambitious, too.’ She didn’t like how this was going. ‘If I sort you into Slytherin, you would be with your friend.’ Cynthia tried to be confident, and said softly under her voice,‘I will see her outside of the house. I will be sorted into Ravenclaw and I demand it. ’ ‘Oh, there is no need to be pushy with the hat. If that is what you want, then better be RAVENCLAW!’
Applause erupted in the table. Students stood up and welcomed Cynthia to the house. They smiled, which Cynthia returned happily. She looked briefly at Skye, but quickly turned her head back to the table and formed an even wider smile. She was in her father’s house. She was in Ravenclaw. And she was more than happy. She was with her new family.

A heart as cold as ice; a mind as hard as stone.

Jennifer was looking around her as the sorting hat was calling out everyone's names.
She was nervous about when it would be her turn and what she do when it was her turn.
She kept looking around at everyone and back at the sorting hat while playing with her sleeves to calm herself down.
She remembers how excited she was for this moment ever since she had received that letter, how her parents were unsure at first but eventually supported her with the preparations since they knew it'll be a great opportunity for her to learn how to control magic and when to use it.
Jennifer began thinking about what house she would want to be sorted in when she remembered how she had found her mother's Hufflepuff robe when she was younger.
She loved to play with the robe.
She remembered the stories her mother had told her about her childhood and how she had met her father, who was a Slytherin.
Jennifer didn't know what it was back then and was very curious about it.
She remembers how her mother always tells her stories when it was bedtime.
And since that day Jennifer wanted to follow in her mother's footsteps.
She began to hope to be put into Hufflepuff as she suddenly jumps to her place by the voice.
"BERRY, JENNIFER" the loud voice came from the sorting hat, calling for her to get sorted.
she looked around her as she stood up, making her way to the sorting hat.
"This is it" Jennifer whispered to herself. She arrived at the hat, got the hat on her head, and was hoping that her wish would come true.
The sorting hat began to talk to her about herself as she was too distracted with her thoughts, too many thoughts were now in her mind.
With her eyes closed, she heard the hat, with a loud voice saying "SLYTHERIN".
She opened her eyes and started to look at the Slytherins around her.
She was smiling as she took the hat off of her head to walk to the side, still happy because she was sorted into the same house as her father.
Despite her wanting Hufflepuff, she was excited to begin her journey with her new housemates, focusing on doing her best as always to bring enough house points for the House Championship Cup.

FEAR was a feeling that Irene did not experience daily and was in fact, quite confusing to her, especially when it is fear of something that is not terrifying in any way, shape, or form. But occasionally in her book, there is an exception to be afraid of something that makes no sense. In this case, the Sorting.

She knew well and true that she would be sorted into Ravenclaw. There was no doubt about it. Every one of her parents friends, including her parents herself, always spoke about Irene and how she would do well in the future and most definitely be sorted into Ravenclaw. If anyone belonged in that house, it was her.

Yet as she waited anxiously in the crowd of abnormally short first-years, she would still hear her heart pounding in her ears and her forehead thrumming as if someone had taken an icepick to her forehead. She clutched the small moon pendant dangling around her neck tightly, seeming to others around her like she were trying to yank it off. She was doing quite the opposite though, as she wanted nothing more than it to stay around her neck as a form of good luck.

Her only form of good luck.

Names were called and students sorted quite rapidly to Irene's surprise, and it was only a matter of time before they reached the H's. She had hoped it would go a bit slower. She had hoped she would have more time to pray.

Please let me be in Ravenclaw, she thought.

"IRENE HATCHET!" A voice bellowed suddenly, startling the poor girl. She gasped softly to herself and began moving through the crowd, a string of apologies flowing from her mouth as she made her way to the front.

"When your moment comes, stand tall. Chin up. Back straight. Let them see you are not a force to be messed with." Her mothers words suddenly echoed in her mind, and she did what she had been told, clearing her throat as she marched up the steps, her hand now red from clenching her necklace so tightly.

"Oh dear god," she muttered softly to herself upon seeing the Sorting Hat, all tattered and torn, waiting patiently. She stepped forward, picking up the hat off the stool and swiftly dropping it onto her head as she sat down.

"AH, A HATCHET! CLEVER AND WITTY HMM? I KNOW WHERE TO PUT YOU..RAVENCLAW!" Irene exhaled so loudly she was sure that whoever sat at the end of the long tables could hear her sigh of relief, and she closed her eyes in a moment of relief. She stood, taking the hat off, and muttered a quiet thank you before stepping down from the platform and back into the crowd.

She pushed through the first-years before making her way to the tables, where she searched for the familiar blue-ties of Ravenclaw. Adrenaline still pulsing through her veins, she dashed over and searched for a seat, sitting down quickly at the Ravenclaw table, closing her eyes as she clasped her hands together around her necklace, uttering a quiet thank you to no one in particular.

Cathy continued to stare at the hat with her mouth agape. A talking hat?...What a extordinary thing! Wonder filled her little brain as she stared at this hat, before quickly averting her gaze when she heard her Mother's words bounce around in her head.

"Staring is rude, Catherine," Her mother would scold and so, Cathy kept her head down. Cathy twiddled with her fingers nervously. So, she would be stuck in this house for the rest of her stay? That- was a little nerve-wracking if she was honest. What if she didn't like her new house? What if the other children were mean? What if-

That last thought was silenced was silenced by the loud call of "DREA, CATHERINE". Cathy nearly jumped out of her skin at that. The tiny child slowly stepping foward, her legs feeling like jelly. She felt her heart race as she slowly advanced towards the hat, fright evident on her face as she felt hundreds of eyes on her. She wished she could simply shrink and let their stares fall somewhere else.

The timid child made it to the stool where the headmaster was waiting, and Cathy felt more nerves grow inside of her. She hopped up on the stool and kept her eyes glued to the floor, she did not want to know how many people were staring at her. She let out a small noise of surprise when she felt the hat be dropped upon her head. What surprised her even more was hearing a voice INSIDE her head.

"Come now, there's no need to be frightened," The head stated and Cathy felt herself nearly have a heart attack from hearing a new voice in her head. But, she regained her composure with a few quick breaths in a matter of a seconds. She slowly found her voice and replied back in her head.

"S-sorry for staring earlier, I know it's rude..." She thought-mumbled in her head, and the Hat barked out a laugh from inside her mind.

"Oh, my dear, I take no offense. I am stared at daily, and I fully expect it, especially from a Muggleborn. Hm....but you do seem to have a large amount of compassion," The hat barked back, amusement dripping from the words with the last few leaving him in deep thought. Cathy had a neutral look on her face, it was sort of odd to be pyscho-analyzed by a hat, though she might as well as expect the unexpected. Cathy honestly just wanted to be in a house that would accept her for the mess that she was, any house that would take her would do.

"Quite the caring and kind little thing you are,..hm...Loyal to your family and no doubt a hard worker...yet there is a curiousity in there...nonetheless, I believe I have the perfect house for you...." The sorting hat affirmed and Cathy felt apprehension rise in her, along with a little bit of excitement. She wished she could go home and hug her family, they always made her feel better whenever she was nervous. Especially Brian, her four year old baby brother's hugs were the best at lifting her spirits and she adored him. But....Maybe this could be good? But it could also be bad, she didn't know for sure-

"Ah yes, that sensitivity and sweetness will serve you well in the house of HUFFLEPUFF!" The hat shouted, dragging Cathy out of her thoughts. A louder thundering noise came from the applause of the yellow table, with kids all cheering and standing up for her. It felt nice...to be welcomed like this, even though the noise had taken her aback. Cathy felt a small little smile form on her face, one of true happiness as she got off the stool. Hm, maybe this whole thing wouldn't be so bad afterall, she thought to herself as she made her way over the the yellow table.

Aisley wasn't nervous- no- she told herself she wasn't nervous as she walked into the great hall with all of the other first years. The young girl had to trick her mind into the fact that almost the entire school (minus the rest of the first years of course) staring at her, wasn't considered intimidating. But of course, she couldn't lie to herself for long. The anxiety kicked in, feeling like a large punch in the gut. Aisley took a deep breath and distracted her mind with the scenery of the large room.

Floating candles took up a large mass of the top of the hall, creating a beautiful glow around the room and there seemed to be four, long tables, seating the schools' sorted students, old and new. Now, at the very front of the room, there was one more large table, but this table, seated the staff members of the magical school. This final table was the most intimidating of them all. The professor's stares seemed to bore right into her very soul. Aisley shivered a bit, averting her eyes from the front of the room.

Her anxiety kicked back in, and this time, it wasn't walking into the hall. it seemed to be that just standing there, in the hall, until the 'S' names were called, caused her nerves to go haywire.

It seemed like hours of torture that Aisley stood in one spot, watching as students, her peers, went up to the old hat to be sorted. She watched as her peers held expressions of disappointment, happiness, shock, and even boredom on their faces. Aisley wondered what house she'd be in. Maybe Gryffindor, with Marianne? Slytherin with Jack? It all didn't really matter to her until her name was called.

"SOLACE, AISLEY."

The girl walked up to the podium with her hands shaking. She walked up the stairs to the stool on which she sat down. The hat was slowly placed onto her head in a careful manner. In a manner that made her question whether the professor was careful for the old hat, or for her.

"Nervous, hmm? The hat asked.

"Nervous? What could you possibly mean?" Aisley muttered to the hat as it chuckled.

"Sarcastic nature. That would do well in Gryffindor. But I sense, deep down, you have a hunger for knowledge, and you hate being incorrect. I see that you would do the best in RAVENCLAW!" The hat said, yelling out the selected house as the last word.

Aisley turned towards the table that was standing up and cheering as the hat was lifted off her head. She made her way down to the cheering table.

"I'm not nervous" She said to herself as she took a seat at the table. Yet this time, she didn't have to lie.

"Don't Say You Can't Until You Prove You Can't."

Nova walked down the aisle taking a deep breath. Her heart was beating so loud, she knew everyone could hear it. What if I don't get into SLYTHERIN?

Nova looked around at the packed room, intent eyes watching her from each table, where would she be sorted? Her thoughts roamed on if she didn't get slytherin...would her parents still love her?

The sorting hat was on her head, Nova closed her eyes, scrunched them and waited patiently.
PLEASE BE SLY- She started to think as the hat interupted her and shouted GRYFFINDOR!! Nova's eyes widened, but then relaxed, she had wanted to be in this house, so why should she care about her parents opinions? They didn't control her. Nova smiled at the hat as it gave a quick smile back.

Nova skipped to her new house, it was going to be wonderful in gryffindor.

André entered the room heart pounding out of his stomach were it sunk on the walk to the great castle. His legs were like Jello, he felt like he would collapse with every step. He was a very large mix of sacred, Excited, and nervous.

He barley managed to suppress these emotions from his face, so that no attention would be drawn to him. He clutched the dove charm on his necklace, and took a deep breath. No matter what happened he knew he could always send an owl to his parents, and his sister went to hogwarts to. Yes this would be fine.

André watched closely as everyone was sorted. The long tabled erupted into cheers every time on of his peers was sorted into there own house. 'what house will I get?' He thought to himself. He searched the table of blue for his sister, what was her house called? "Ravenclaw!!" the hat sorted someone seemingly also answer his question.

"Lebedev, André" He let out a very small squeak, way to soon. How were they already on the L names? Despite now being ready André walked up to the podium and sat down. He was taking deep breaths. The hat was placed onto his head, it muttered many things like strong willed, and brave. He didn't feel very brave right now..

When he fully listened the hat had made his decision, with a loud Roar "Hufflepuff!" as the hat was lifted off of his head André looked at the loudest table one covered in yellow, that must have been hufflepuff. He made his way to the table and sat down. Happy that that was over.

The moment had come... The hall was dead silent in anticipation for the hat sorting.
Cal couldnt believe he was actually there. Sitting IN HOGWARTS.
It was almost too much, too much to be real...
The sorting hat called out name... after name... after name... until finally...
LAUK, CALVIROIUS
Cal walked up to the seat. He was sweating bullets.
"Jeepers, what do I even do? Should I be thinking something when I put it on? what do I think?"
Cal approached the seat, grabbed the cap, and placed it squarely on his head.
The hat perked up, but remained silent.
"Hmmmmm... I see..." Cal heard in his own thoughts
"See what?" Cal thought back to the sorting hat.
"What lies in store for you... Mr Lauk...
HUFFLEPUFF!!!!"
A wave of relief washed over Cal. It was over. What had the sorting hat meant by that though? What lies in store... Was it deliberating over where he should be placed? Doesnt matter. What matters now is the feat ahead. Cal was starving.
He made his way to the Hufflepuff table, beaming with joy as his new classmates bumped fists and clapped high fives as he passed.
He was right where he belonged.

Olive had overheard conversations in the train on her way to Hogwarts... She knew a little bit about Hogwarts houses but somehow she had not been aware of the bad rap Slytherin got for the number of evil wizards that came out of it. Apparently she was more alienated from the wizarding world than she thought... Good job, mom! You did it... I'm a clueless idiot about to embarrass myself the moment I open my mouth in this school... - she thought. Well... There's always muggle borns... I mean, they are not clueless idiots, I think, but they will certainly know less about Hogwarts than me, right?! Mental note: read about Hogwarts history as soon as possible, preferably when nobody is looking or when people are also reading something. I don't wanna look nerdy...
LAUK, CALVIROIUS
"Hmmmmm... I see..."
"What lies in store for you... Mr Lauk...
HUFFLEPUFF!!!!
Hufflepuff seems like a nice house. People look friendly enough. That would work for me, I think.

Olive looked over to the Ravenclaw table. Oh... Handsome... I don't think they'd let me in... But before she had time to check what the other two group of students looked like she heard her name being called.

JONES, OLIVE!

She had no idea what was coming. But she was eager to know what the hat saw inside her head. She had always wanted to have someone who could see inside of her and tell her the truth about who she was, something that made sense. Maybe she was smarter and prettier than she thought... Maybe the hat would place her in Ravenclaw and right there she would start seeing herself in a new way, a better way. Maybe she was better than she thought. Maybe she was the nice sweet girl she had always thought she was. Or better! Maybe she belonged with loyal friends! And for a second her hope was to hear the hat shout "HUFFLEPUFF!" But she had barely finished that thought when she hear a loud "SLYTHERIN!"

WHAT??? What does that mean?? Where?? WAIT! - she thought.

She was shown the Slytherin table and hoped her thoughts did not show on her face. Although she was feeling confused, it was really nice to see some people smiling at her. I guess they were wrong... Slytherin can't be the house of evil wizards and witches... But as she looked through the students sitting at that table she couldn't help but notice a certain sharpness to the way their eyes moved from one person to another analyzing the crowd. The kind of look that makes you think twice before telling a joke in front of them. Maybe there was some truth to what she had heard on the way to the school... Oh, boy... What am doing here...? I'm so @$%#*&!

Sorting Ceremony Sept 2022
Theodore was always curious about Hogwarts, ever since he found out about its existence when he was around five. His parents told him all about it and for nearly six years he was waiting to come here himself. That day has finally come.

Osborne knew there were four houses, he knew their values and the one he'd love to get in — he could not come here unprepared. He thought Gryffindor was the coolest house to belong to as they were courageous, confident and usually the party animals, well, at least that's what his older friends told him. That might have been because they were Gryffindors themselves. Theodore's parents belonged in Slytherin, both of them. And if he had to rank, it would be his second option — only ambitious leaders were the ones to be sorted there. He thought he was exactly that, someone in the centre of attention, not giving up without a fight and definitely someone to get his way one way or another.

The young boy looked around the Great Hall once they were led to it, noticing crowds of older students inspecting them curiously. Probably guessing which ones will be sorted to their house, Theodore thought. The group of curious and rather shy first years were led to the front of the Hall where the Sorting Hat was presented to them. Theodore thought staff should replace it already — it was rather old, you could see scratches and small rips on it. But was it even possible to replace it?..

Theodore had to wait for a rather long time, the Sorting lost his attention rather quickly and he started quietly talking to students next to him. He noticed someone, who he later found out was called Olive Jones, looking around curiously. "Hey, I'm Theodore Osborne. You've got a House you'd like to be in mind?" He was just chatting because belonging to a certain house was not that important to him — each had values that Theodore found important. Well, he also wanted to belong to a house where he could find more extroverted people like him.

Some more time had passed before Theodore was called to be sorted. That was probably the second he felt a bit nervous about the matter for the first time. The boy rather confidently walked up and just listened to the Sorting Hat mutter to itself for a few seconds, debating where he'd fit more.

"SLYTHERIN!!" Finally. Well, it was Osborne's second choice after all, his parents will be proud of him too. He was happy with the Hat's choice. The boy heard clapping and whistles coming from the table furthest to the right, smiling widely as he looked over at the table of professors, nodding silently before making his way to the big table. Theodore was greeted nicely there too, he had an idea he will like it here.
