Most while children would spend their free-time laughing with their friends and making up silly scenarios, Cathy took to the Library to find entertainment. You see, the 'friends' part of that common sight, she lacked. She was, in truth, terribly lonely. Yet, fear held her back. She worried of the strange looks of judgement she would receive for a poor word choice or stutter in the heat of the moment. She worried of how others would mock her, belittle her for every imperfection that she saw in herself. So, she remained both terrified of friends and both yearning for them, a dangerous combination. But books, books were a comfort. Books had sweet words that could dispell her of any trance that fear held on her. They made her feel better, simply put, and they made her better at helping others. Ever since she was young, books were a staple of stability, something she could always find a little happiness out of every night, with the lamp light turned just dim enough to read the beloved worn pages.

A library, especially one as big and grand as the Hogwarts one, was a resource she was not going to waste. The child had found herself at one of the many desks at hogwarts, reading her social life away with a small pleasant smile on her face. The book she was reading was entitled 'Chocolate Confeition Baking Techniques'. It was exactly what it sounded like, a step by step guide on how to make the best sugary chocolate treats, perfect for a little kitchen nerd like Cathy herself. She adored the book, sure it was a little bland, but the tips were legitimately helpful. One even suggested to put mayonnaise in a chocolate cake, apparently makes it more velvety texture and satisfying moist crumb, as unappetizing as that sounded. Now, you might be asking, why doesn't she read a book about baking WITH magic? This is a magic school afterall. Well, Cathy would argue that she IS following some sort of method, that being learn the recipes first THEN perfect them with magic. Plus, Magic was an unknown for her at the moment. It was scary, she felt anxious while using it, it was odd to be able to do such powerful things at the flick of the wrist. So for now, until she got comfortable, she would stick with her familar muggle way of things.

As she hummed, reading along the recipe for a particular good-looking chocolate fudge blocks, she thought about home. She missed them, especially since friends were hard for her to make. Conversations were hard in general for the timid girl, but making friends? That was a whole another ball-park. Even so, she still had her family. A small smile found its way onto her lips as she thought of maybe sending them a care-package filled with some goodies. She can imagine the way her baby brother would devor the treats in an instant, chocolate smeared over his little adorable face with that dopey grin that always made her laugh. Oh how she missed them. Yet, she wondered how well the treats would travel, this was Scotland to Ireland, two separate countries, hm. She'd have to research it later.

For now, she was simply reading, letting the words infect her mind and hypotonize her into forgetting about her surroundings. As she read, the more she let reality slip away, letting the words overtake her. She felt peaceful, peaceful enough to forget her surroundings entirely, letting her focus be drawn to the book and book alone. She knew that something would eventually break for focus, but at least she could enjoy the few quiet moments for now.

Pandora made her way to the library. The book was finished sooner than he thought, and she hopes the fantasy book exists. Maybe she could find her new fiction or melody.

When it came to the library, it looked like a regular muggle library. She was waiting for the shelves to fly in the air. Wandering through the shelves, she noticed that some of the books looked like regular muggle books. She was bouncing between them.

She found a book called ancient legends. The book was medium size. It was obvious from the discoloration that it was very old. Don't judge a book by its cover, said Pandora to herself. If something comes out, it comes out of books like this, she said to herself again.

She turned towards the tables. It was evening so there weren't many people. She saw a fair-skinned girl with light brown hair and blue eyes sitting at one of the tables. I wonder what her story was, Pandora thought. approached her desk. She was a little too excited to talk. When she got closer, she tried to see what she was reading. But she couldn't read

Cathy nearly jumped out of her skin at the sound of another girls voice. Her eyes flew up rapidly, she was so previously entranced in her book that she didn’t even notice the girl approach.

Her breath grew rapidly for a moment, only a mere moment before the sight of the girl made her realize she was in danger. She looked down, embarrassed by her jumpy ways.

Then the Girls words ran through her mind again and she recovered herself from being momentarily dazed. She drew a sigh of relief but answering the question.

”Um, It’s just a book on baking recipes….some sweets, you know, Um, and my names Cathy,” Cathy replied, tone soft and hesitant. She was never good with meeting new people. This girl seemed nice though. Cathy mentally scolded herself for looking standoffish and gave a small smile, heaven forbid she give the wrong impression.

She gave the girl a curious look, she seemed around her age. Freckles were scattered across the other girls face and she had green eyes that were currently watching Cathy. She had a confident air about her. The blue robes signaled she was a Ravenclaw, hm, she had never really met one before.

”So….Um, what book are you here for? You reading something as well?” She inquired, trying not to annoy her with questions, she didn’t want to scare away a potential friend. She was nervous though, uncertainty was present in her words, anxiety was something she could never get rid of when talking to others. But even so, she tried to be polite. Maybe this could be a friend, and heaven knows she’s in need of that.

So, she held her head up, fighting off the urge to stare at the floor awkwardly and continued to give the girl a small kind smile.

Pandora found Cathy's shy demeanor endearing. She thought she liked to cook or eat. Pandora was more on the eating side. After all, he never knew when to embark on an important adventure.

"I guess you like to cook huh. How nice.

Pandora saw Cathy studying her. She was clearly Hufflepuff in her yellow robes. And there seemed to be a little shyness in her eyes.

"Yeah, I just finished the book I'm reading and I don't think there are any muggle fantasy books here either. That's why I'm reading the ancient legends book. But with the first owl, I'll ask my mom to buy a book."

Realizing that she was talking too much, Pandora stopped. Sometimes she talked too much. She sat next to Cathy and started reading her book.

"Which animal do you like more and which pet would you like to have?"

Pandora still couldn't keep her mouth shut. But sometimes she couldn't stop herself. She felt very energetic even though it was evening.

"What a beautiful evening isn't it? Hours when nocturnal creatures begin to emerge "

Owls, wolves and some hybrids. Creatures hunt at this time.

"Do you like the day more or the night? I think the night is very noble."

Cathy found herself nodding at the girl's statement regarding her culinary skills. Cooking was always something she enjoyed. It was a fun little activity to take her mind off things, no doubt that Cathy was a worrier so having something that was relaxing for her certainly made her day a little better.

The girl continued to speak, rapidly continuing the conversation with the words, "Yeah, I just finished the book I'm reading and I don't think there are any muggle fantasy books here either. That's why I'm reading the ancient legends book. But with the first owl, I'll ask my mom to buy a book" . Cathy felt herself give another nod, ancient legends certainly seemed interesting to read about. So much drama, so many relationships, so much culture. It truly was an interesting subject.

"It's nice that you enjoy reading that, um, I mainly read little historial fiction novels, they can be nice for fun. I hope you get that book you want, the holidays are coming up so you have a good chance," Cathy commented, trying to keep up with the girl's energetic. She was quite a lively one. Even so, Cathy stuck to her awkward and shy demeanour, it was simply in her nature to be a bit more timid.

Another question was fired off at her, and Cathy had to collect her thoughts for a moment before she could properly respond.

"Oh um, I like hamsters, they're such adorable little fluffy things...and um...as for pets, I don't really know...I don't really have the stuff needed for pet...I don't want to not be able to provide for them..." She reasoned, fond tone turning to something more serious. She had seen the way people mistreat pets on the news and it gave her a severe case of heartache. She didn't want an animal if she couldn't properly care for one, and with the new responsbilities of a new school, she didn't think she could handle one. Not now, at least.

She found herself giving a kind smile at the girl's enthusiasm, her cheerfulness seemed to be infectious, though it was a bit overwhelming for poor introverted Cathy. Cathy didn't want to be rude at all, this girl was simply being friendly so she continued to answer.

"It...is a nice night, though I prefer sunrise. It's all quiet, and um, peaceful in the mornings, everyone's still asleep. There's a serene nature in that....Wait, creatures? Like...nice creatures?" Cathy replied, tone changing from reflective to anxious. What types of creatures lured around Hogwarts? Were they dangerous?

"Um, I prefer day, it's just...more sunny...I d-don't like the dark very much..." She replied. Tone still worried from the previous mention of noctural creatures, oh dear, what if monsters lurked in this forest? She had heard about some nasty creatures ever since she entered the wizarding world, and they didn't seem too friendly. They probably have her as a snack. Like a giant squid in the lake, really, was that true? She continued to look nervous as thoughts ran through her mind.

"I've never read the little historical fiction books so I don't know."

Pandora saw that Cathy's timid and shy demeanor still hadn't changed. She wondered if she had done something wrong.

"Yes hamsters are cute and I think you are someone who can take care of an animal. I would like a baby dragon but I guess I can't bring it to school and my dad finds it weird
so I guess I would like a rabbit"

Her father was a muggle, so she had grown up unaware of the wizarding world, but he had little knowledge of it, as hwe mother told stories of her Hogwarts years every night.

When she said she preferred the day, he looked into her eyes. There was worry in her eyes. I think he was afraid of creatures coming out of the dark, she thought.

"Do you think it's hot or cold, I think it's cold. Because it is very tempting to go on a hunt for a fairy sleeping outside in the cold and watch something with hot chocolate.".

Pandora realized that she did not know about Cathy's hobbies. Curiously:

So what are your hobbies, Cathy? You don't mind if I call you Cathy, do you? Did anyone call you Cathy?"
