Hexwizard Task 1: Hogwarts v Koldovstoretz

Kolya stares down at the writhing girl before him, still a little unsettled by her screaming. Lifting his lance, he tries to take a swipe at the opposing knight in an attempt to add a little more discomfort. It was a bit like what he imagined spear fishing may feel like. Between her rolling about and nearly unbalancing himself with the weight of the massive lance, his strike swings wide. Shaking off the bite of disappointment at whiffing what should have been a relatively easy hit, the boy urges his steed forward once more.

Looking up as his horse once more slides into place, he's met with a wall of older Hogwarts students before him. A wave of both fear and nerves washes over him at the sight, though he finds it mixed with a bit of annoyance. They simply cowed in the corner. Through the hectic movement of the board, he was pretty sure that their champion hadn't even moved to help his team at all. Kolya throws a brief glance backwards at Rodion, pleased to see they weren't following the same path. Resettling himself in the saddle, the young Russian faced forward once more. If he went down, it would be with a fight.

This games was turning out less then ideal, not how Maksim had envisioned any of it turning out. He held his ground, showing now fear in the face of his enemies, 2 allies down. "Those smug Brits must think their hot stuff right now!" Maksim spoke to himself in Russian, sneering at those facing him in battle. There was no more room for error. Every choice they made was more crucial then ever. The only thing that Maksim could do was defend his King. He waited for the call, before taking his move, Rodion coming to find safety behind Maksim.

Maksim stood taller now, if this Hogwart brats wanted to take their king down... They would have to go through him first.

Thump. Thump. Thump.

Bloom's heart was beating fast and then faster. Her eyes, that only saw darkness began to see a bright light. She blinked a few times to find herself back into reality. Where the actually hell was she in? Bloom looked around, but more-so, looked at her body. It was in tact. Her body was not burning nor was it disintegrating. She looked around at Howard who was in a different position as before.

Bloom then realized that her move to shed a nightmare on another had backfired. She had taken the attack and it was one that was brutal. In a way, she felt terrible to be using the attack on her opponent-- or on anyone for that matter-- but she knew that it was an attack in the books that she needed to use if necessary.

Grabbing her joust, she got herself back onto the horse. Her eyes, still red from the amount of crying she had done, she looked demon-like with her black outfit and makeup. Really, Bloom felt embarrassed for screaming the way she did... That is if she did scream. She wasn't entirely sure, but her throat was also a bit scratchy, so perhaps she did.

It then became time for her to use the move again. Unfortunately, it did not hit her opponent, but luckily, it did not backfire onto Bloom. She felt like she could not handle another nightmare like that.

She looked back at Howard to show that she was okay with a small smile and then looked ahead. She was going to do whatever Howard would tell her. No matter the risk.

He should’ve been the queen, not the king. He could do stuff with his mediocre spell spreading thing. But it was all too late. Howard was still hiding, out of reach, and Irina was basically surrounded in the lion’s den and from the look of it, it wasn’t good. Maksim was calling the brits ‘hot stuff’, whatever that was. Perhaps it means that they were hot, like, not in temperature. Good looking? He didn’t see the connection between duels and face prettiness.

The stakes were high, the water was rough. This could still be Koldovstorets’ victory, maybe.

Percival saw another attack coming and did the same thing to his partner besxide him, which in turn made him get another spell into his body. He couldn't keep this up for the entire match, at some point something had to be done "I guess so..." he gritted back to Peri as he battled to keep on the board for his team. They were doing well so far, they just had to keep this pace up in order to truly pressure the opposite team.

It took every ounce of willpower for Howard not to charge forth on his mighty chariot! He itched for action as he sat in the back and called the shots. Leading a team was something he had gotten used to as a Quidditch captain, but at least during that he got to be a part of it all.

As Bloom returned to her stead, Howard would meet her eye and give her a nod of reassurance and a hand gesture to express his love. He worried for her, but it seemed she had regained her exposure.

As for the rest of Team Hogwarts, they would do their best as Howard called his commands, but their opponents were one step ahead this round. Each attack they threw towards them was dodged. Howard’s frustration with himself threatened to cloud his judgment, but with a deep breath he would calm himself. This was a game of strategy and patience and the match was still either teams to win.

“Regroup!” Howard called to his comrades as Kokdov made their moves. “Attack!” It was time for payback!

Alan took a look around, before he would take a glance toward the spectators once more, hoping to see something different than George's glare. He would see George with his wand raised, talking to Alec and an owl that had momentarily dived down, before disappearing out of Alan's line of sight. Well that was quite odd, wasn't it?

For now he would glance back at the other school across from them, or well at this point they were mingling really. Howard would shout something and Alan nodded, as he focused on his own actions.

Still nothing to do, Dee wasn't enjoying this much. Really, being a bishop would probably have been more fun... although she did like this outfit better than what Alan or Serena were wearing. Give her a sceptre to whack her opponents with over a book any day.

Additionally, things seemed to start going a little worse for her team. An uncoordinated swap of places, and a few attacks missed, while their opponents got in some hits. She scrunched up her nose. Surely, they could do better than this.

But then, finally, the action came a little closer to her, when Irina and her horse took a giant leap to land in the spot right next to her, and involuntarily, Dee flinched back a step only to notice that Bloom had done the same, landing in front of her, and yep, nope, she still didn't like horses, despite having spent a considerable amount of time riding one some years ago. Too big, with their spindly legs and snorting breath and she missed Ninkilim, who she'd left off the board with Jack. He was smart and small and soft and she didn't have to worry about losing a foot if he stepped on it.

On the plus side, this meant she might finally get something to do. Regaining her composure, Dee grinned up at Irina, sharp and not very friendly. Truly, she had a hard time mustering respect for the girl. "Long time no see!" she called. "In case you're tempted to blame whoever is convenient again, if you lose today, it'll be no one's fault but your own."

It wasn't over, oh no. There was no mercy for the weakened, it seemed. While Opeila was still trying to get a grip on what was reality and what was in her head- either prophecy or eagle eye nightmare- the knight of the other school seemed to be out for revenge.

The moment Opeila felt ready to get back into the game, something would hit her, hard. Almost throw her off the horse for the third time that day, making her ears ring as her and Irina's armors crashed together with an unpleasant noise.

So who could be surprised that Opeila's following attack on Irina did not have the same effect it did before? No, this was certainly not the young Slytherin's moment. Sniffing quietly, she pulled herself back into a safe position on her horse, needing a moment to blink away frustrated tears.

She was not sure if she was unconscious or asleep, and honestly she was not sure if you could even dream while unconscious, but memories flashed behind the girl's eyes. She remembered the day perfectly, she had been excited because they were going to Hogsmeade for the first time. It was supposed to be fun, a day to hang out with friends, yet it all ended in disaster. It had seemed like any other day to the read head, yet something had felt off. Maybe if she had payed attention then her friends would be alive, but probably not. Rosella thought she could feel the blast of heat and the boom of the explosion, see her classmates as most of them lost their lives that day. The Russian girl did not enjoy reliving these memories, did not want to remember the death of her friends, but it did not seem there was much of a way for her to get out of it.
