What a day!! The sun was bright out, André ran through the grounds his shoes making a light thump when he ran, he could feel the wind blowing through his hair. He was laughing all the way running through the courtyard and onto the grounds, he reached a hill and lost his footing, now rolling down the hill he landed on his back still laughing.
"Quel plaisir !! Je veux refaire ça!" What fun!! I want to do that again! He spoke French as he sat up in the grass biggest smile on his face. He was to happy today, it had been just over two weeks since school started and he had already learned so much.
He looked around at the people on the grounds not many people out but just enough. He reached into his pocket and pulled out a small piece of candy, throwing it up into the air André hoped to catch it in his mouth. "Dang... raté " missed it didn't bother his too much as nothing could break this good mood of his.
He just reached into his pocket and pulled out another one this time not throwing it in the air. He still wanted a piece of candy. His legs were stuck out in front of him and he was looking at the view outside of the castle. "C’est magnifique" its beautiful he muttered under his breath.

Taking a walk outside was really what Ciel needed to do. Today had been really stuffy, and she just wasn't happy with how it was going. Yucky!
She had contemplated bringing Ginger Ale outside, but she didn't want to bother the rat. He was probably sleeping or bothering someone. Maybe Ginger and Kiwi were hanging out, or something like that. Whatever, Ciel didn't need him anyway.
Her feet took her outside, where the cool wind was blowing on the warm grounds. Man, it really was a nice day today. The sun was shining, but not enough to be a nuisance, and the clouds were grey but not dark enough to assume it would rain. But the real shame came from the fact that Ciel had to spend this beautiful day stuck inside of a stuffy castle.
The grounds were never very quiet (though, sometimes there were people who wanted it to be), but when Ciel heard someone shouting in a language she barely used, her interest was piqued. It wasn't like she never spoke French, but she preferred saving it for whenever her mama got angry. You didn't really know anger until a tall French woman came barreling at you, yelling for not cleaning up the kitchen table. The thought made Ciel shudder.
"Bonjour?" Ciel asked, walking towards the boy who she assumed was making the sounds. "Tu parles Français aussi?" The boy was sitting sprawled out on the grass in front of her, and it made her almost giggle at the sight. But that was kind of rude, wasn't it?
"Uh, je suis Ciel, et tu?" Right, she should introduce herself first. That would make the most amount of sense. Weren't most people at Hogwarts from England anyway? Why did this boy in particular know French?

sitting in the grass just happy to be alive on this amazing day, he heard someone talk too him in the language he was speaking in. "Oh!! Bonjour, je ne vous ai pas vu au début." Oh!! Hello there, didn't see you at first. he greeted the girl. She asked if he spoke French to. He thought it was a bit obvious but went with it, with a smile he spoke "Oui! Je parle Français. Je suppose naturellement que vous le faites aussi." Yep! I do speak French. Im naturally assuming you do as well.
He laughed a bit, still smiling. Still speaking French. He found out the girls name is Ciel, a very pretty name if you asked him! "J’adore ton nom Ciel, mon nom André." I love your name Ciel, my names André. He responded to her.
He decided to go back too more commonly used language at hogwarts as asked her a question in English. "So what brings you down here? Is it the beautiful day?" he asked, looking at her awaiting a response. "you speak English to right?" he added on a quick joke and laughed. He always laughed at his jokes, even if those jokes weren't very funny. Laughing made him feel good, and so did making plenty of jokes.
He looked away from Ciel and back at the sky, there were some clouds out but not much. Still the sky was beautiful.

Why was Ciel surprised in the first place? After all, this was a European school, and France was surely part of that. But hadn't she heard that there was another magic school in France itself? Beauxbatons or whatever it was. This puzzled Ciel for a few more moments before she realized something. He was probably not from France.
Well, technically Ciel wasn't from France either. She hadn't even visited in a while. Her mother didn't seem to enjoy going back after some incident involving her maternal grandparents. While Ciel clearly didn't know the full story, maybe it had something to do with her mother running away to England with Ciel's father. Oh well, not a problem for Ciel to worry about.
"Yeah, French is technically my second language." Ciel's mother found herself not wanting to teach her kids her native tongue until they learned English first. Her father wasn't fluent in French at all and would have no clue how to communicate otherwise. But she still found it to be counterproductive.
"I just wanted to get out of the castle for a little while, y'know?" Ciel said. "It's kind of suffocating being in there all the time, 'specially with the classes and stuff like that. Why is the Potions classroom all the way in the dungeons? Oof, I could not imagine being a Slytherin!"
She shook her head, trying to get the thoughts of being stuck under the Great Lake out of her mind. Rumors from those in years above her talked about how the Slytherin common room was under the Great Lake, but she didn't know if they were completely true. But yikes-! what if the squid tries to crush it or something?!

The girl, Ciel, told André that French was her second language. "I guess you could say French is my third. Russian is my second, English my first." he smiled. He parents decided to teach both there children the languages they spoke when they were there age. Russian for his dad and French for his mother. Of course he also learned English to. Naturally.
The hufflepuff student couldn't agree more with what Ciel had said next, "With how big the castle is you think it wouldn't be that suffocating." he nodded, at the potions room comment. It was a long way down to get there. "Potions class is fun, but it takes forever to get down there! And its kinda cold. At least I'm not a Ravenclaw that has it first thing in the bloody morning! That would be terrible!!" He laughed at that, wondering if his sister had to endure that everlasting walk.
It was then that he made the realization he hadn't told her his house or year! Now was it that important. No. But did everyone and there mum do it? Probably not there mum's but yes most everyone. He didn't get it really? What difference dose your house make? Or your year? Ahh it didn't matter might as well say. "by the way i'm in hufflepuff, a first year." he wonder if he could have lied about his house. Would he be in trouble? Could he pass for Gryffindor? To many questions... Not enough answers..

"Russian is cool," Ciel honestly couldn't imagine herself being able to learn Russian- the cursive looked way to complicated, especially to someone like herself, who had trouble remembering where to accent letters! "I bet it was kinda tough to learn, huh? Russian seems like a pretty hard language."
What other languages would Ciel categorize as 'difficult to learn'? Any language with written scriptures like Japanese with kanji must be difficult, and that would also include Chinese scriptures; though languages like Spanish and French must've been easier, since they didn't use any kind of scriptures. If she classified Russian as hard, then Ukranian and Czech must also be hard too! Maybe it was just all Slavic languages?
"I don't think I'd ever qualify for a Ravenclaw," Ciel shrugged, "I'm not very smart- but yeah, having Potions first thing in the morning is akin to having gym as your first class of the day. Yucky, yucky!"
The boy, André, introduced himself as a Hufflepuff first year, the same as Ciel. Though, he could've passed as a year older, he was even taller than Ciel herself, who weighed in on the higher side of height. Especially for other girls her age!
"I'm also a first year in Hufflepuff! What are the odds?" Like, pretty high, actually. There were a lot of Hufflepuffs, and a lot of first years. The chances of them being in the same year and in the same house really wasn't very low.

André shrugged "I think it was easier as I was like really young when I was learning it. And my dad is from Russia, so that probably helped!" it was probably true, same with his French. His parents grew up speaking it for most of their lives, so it had to make things easier for him learning.
"I wanted to be Ravenclaw, at least a small part of me did. Just because my sisters a Ravenclaw." he shrugged again. It didn't matter much, as he had lots of people in his own house he could talk with. And they were in his year, so much more better in a sense as he had classed with a few of them.
We as with Daria she was a second year so no classes with her. "I think the chances are high but also not?" with all the people in hogwarts, and all the houses. "There was a one in four chance we would have the same house, and a one in seven chance that we would be the same year.. Now I don't know what those add up to. But those are the odds" he smiled. High if you consent how many people are in those years and houses, but small if you just look at the base odds.
