He was still in the maze. Maybe hoping for karma to get him came true too soon because as in that moment, for all she knew, the maze could’ve swallowed him whole. And what’s left would be just his name. Would it be illegal for her to just jump and run to the maze to search for him? She will definitely sue whoever made the maze too hard for Nicholas to pass through. “Please.. Please.. Please.. Please spit out the Nick dear maze”

Hunter's wand never did as he asked, it never did as he requested. There were the standard normal instances it did, but in the most important moments, it would never work. He was losing the motivation to continue onward, and he made little progress as his mind became more focused on his wand rather than his broom.

The weary shake of Bloom's head resulted in a light frown from Xailah. The other girl was starting to look the worse for wear. But if she insisted she needn't any help, what was Xailah to do? The metamorph gave a solemn bow of her head toward he other witch. It was settled then. She would have to proceed without Bloom.

Not that she would have had much time to help the other racer anyway, had she wanted the assistance.

Delta had been pulling against the vines the whole time, determined to work itself out of the thorny hold by force. The length of wood revved (was that the right word when referring to a broom? Whatever), sputtering and pressing further, and further until...

Snap!

It was the sound of a band being broken. With one final push, broom and rider were freed from their restraints. Delta wasted no time, and rocketed off the moment resistance was no longer detected. They would only have a few minutes to breath before they would be caught in yet another obstacle- this one far trickier than the vines.

It was just one thing after another, wasn't it?

Xailah would soon regret thinking bad about the vines. Like, sure they were annoying, and hurt, and ruined your nice clothes, but at least they weren't wet, and slimy, and sentient.

Making friends with the Giant Squid hadn't been on today's agenda. In fact, it hadn't been on any agenda- not today, not in the past, not ever.

Upon reaching the Great Lake, the lioness ignored the ripples etching across its surface, thinking little of them. That was her first mistake. Her second, was failing to go around the tentacles that promptly shot out of the water when she flew over them. Xailah had flown over the lake a numerous amount of times, and she had never been attacked by the squid then- so ignoring the signs was not without reason. For whatever reason, said squid was apparently feeling cheeky this time around. A thick tendril caught her ankle, before snaking its way along the length of her slender form.

Xailah let out a cry of alarm, as the tentacle wrapped around her waist, tighter, and tighter. This was the closest she had ever been to the cephalopod, and hopefully this was the closest she would ever get. She felt like she was being cradled by a slimy anaconda. The more she breathed, the more the appendage constricted. Every breath grew more and more strained. The metamorph let out another call; this one far more animalistic than the last.

It was then she realized no one else was with her. Not Hugh or Marina. Not Della. Not Nicholas, nor Bloom. It was just her and the squid. What had happened to all the others? And- oh no- why was she being dragged down?

He was well and truly lost in the maze, that much was absolutely certain. What was happening with the rest of the race may as well have been taking place on Pluto, for all he could see was the ever-repeating the walls, and the own insides of his eyelids as he fought desperately with frustration. This whole bloody race had gone to hell. God, he wanted out of the maze.

So far the broom racing game had been pretty normal. Marina was covered in bird poop which was not very pleasant, but Marina knew she would just have to ignore it if she wanted to get through this race. In the end there were always worse obstacles. She couldn’t quite tell where most of her teammates were, but that was okay.

Shaking off any embarrassment—it wasn't bad flying that got her on the ground after all—Della hopped on her broom and shot into the sky. She saw Hugh and Marina zoom past, leaving a stench in their wake. Great, a large portion of the team was covered in poop. She hoped Nick and Xailah were faring better and were farther ahead.
