Slytherin vs Gryffindor: Match 8
The battle was hard but almost entirely silent. The fog only got thicker as she sent her own addition to the stage. Thankfully this time her chestnut was back to normal and toiled on the same string she did.
A sound next to her told her that her partner got hit with something but she couldn’t make out what was going on. But no time to worry about it - or even check in. Her mouth was already open when she finally got hit too. Still caught in her own jolt of wind she saw the spell flying her way but was too slow. Fire. Why was it always fire?

Slytherin vs Gryffindor: Match 8
Had she a fouler mouth and a lesser amount of self-control, perhaps Astrea would have had a more passionate reaction to the events of the round. Unfortunately, her vocabulary was composed exclusively of particularly cutting, clean judgements, and the importance of saving face could not have been more clear. This author’s other written child could not be more disappointed.
As it were, the disgracefully wet pureblood could only stare accusingly (and quite blurring, though she would never admit it) towards her opponents. To her side, a great burst of firelight cut through the thinning fog - it seemed that Gryffindor was depending on making use of opposing elements. Handicapped as they were, this was far from the end.

Something Samantha had always admired where duelists who could split their spells with ease and when Astrea spread her spells to both of the lions, the brunette watched in awe. Both of the flipendos were aimed pretty well but the Gryffindors were on their A-game today and dodged the spells easily. Ileen raised her wand at the rumbling storm cloud again, giving the wind jinx another chance, in the hopes to get the storm could to the other team. Sadly, history was doomed to repeat itself and the spell backfired again. Instead of the jolt of wind making its way to the storm cloud, it stayed with Ileen.
One of the lions, Nicky, was focusing on dodging incoming spells and didn't cast a spell this round. Her partner tried to conjure another fog cloud but followed Ileen's lead and failed horribly. The duel was clearly going better for Gryffindor than for Slytherin. Samantha couldn't imagine that the repeated hits of spells Ileen had to go through helped her feel more energetic or happy at all.

Slytherin vs Gryffindor: Match 8
Alan would notice his spell not doing what he wanted it to do, however it would be fine for him, as the spell didn't do harm either. It couldn't compete or cause the fog already around him to grow, so instead it was as if nothing had happened after all. He'd realize Ileen would once more hit herself with her own spell, possibly causing a lot more pain, whereas the Gryffindor team still stood strong.

Slytherin vs Gryffindor: Match 8
Nicky was too busy dodging the incoming spells from the Slytherin side to be casting any spells of her own. She knew she had to try and deal damage to the opposing team if possible but at the moment it just didn't seem worth putting herself in harm's way since they still had half the game left to take out their opponents. Rushing the game would be a bad idea, she had to think of the strategy and act calmly.

Slytherin vs Gryffindor: Match 8
Though Astrea shot off a doubled Knockback jinx to the other side of the piste, she could see neither a satisfactory reaction nor any retaliation. An unfortunate circumstance, but one that meant neither she nor her partner was in immediate danger. The strange increase of smoke descending upon their opponents and a somewhat more obvious disturbance from her one ally made it clear that this would be more a duel of visibility than a clear-cut firefight. No matter the circumstances, they would have to adapt quickly.

Slytherin vs Gryffindor: Match 8
It was indeed a jinxed match. As if her wand wanted to challenge their relationship regarding backfires. Ileen had practiced hours, days, weeks to control the recalcitrant magic when she wasn't focused enough and had found a way to visualize it back out of the wand. Apparently that wasn't good enough. A bitter reminder that she still had a long way to go to finally master magic.
Caught in her own wind jinx she was close to quitting. But she wasn't a quitter after all. Gritting her teeth she grabbed the wood harder and her fingers turned white. She wouldn't give up. She would fight til she fell or the game was over. She owed him that. And he was there. She could sense it. Right behind her, staring it her. Wondering if she would give up too early again.

Filpendo is a very popular spell in dueling and this round proved it once again. Three out of the four duellists cast the Knockback Jinx at the other team, well 2 of them were able to cast the spell and one had the intention to but failed. Samantha watched in awe as a perfectly aimed flipendo left Astrea's wand and hit Nicky in the stomach. Ileen had decided she would give the wind jinx at the storm cloud another try and luckily didn't fail this time. The strong wind from the fourth year blew the rumbling cloud over to the other team.
Nicky had been one of the people to cast the Knockback Jinx and was able to hit Ileen while she was focused on the storm cloud. And then there was Alan... Samantha had absolutely no idea what had happened to him. It had seemed like he had wanted to cast a spell but somehow failed. Maybe he had used to wrong wand movement or maybe made a mistake with the incantation. It was also very possible he had just been distracted by something.

Slytherin vs Gryffindor: Match 8
Alan knew that when Nicky was hit, it wasn't looking the best for them anymore. However he was still quite confident in how close they were to achieving even a slight victory. Ileen and Astrea were both looking quite rough, which made Alan wonder whether they would remain to be so aggressive towards them or if they were to turn around and focus on one another. Needless to say, Alan was prepared for whatever would happen and he sure hoped, that Nicky too would be at the top of her game.
