A Slytherin and a Hufflepuff
Kayla had homework. Lots of homework. And she, as usual, wasn't in the mood to do it, but what choice did she have? She already had about two missed assignments, that she hadn't even bothered handing in, and she didn't want to be in a bad spot with the teachers. She did, surprisingly, have quite good grades, and she understood everything she had to do perfectly. She never had any problems with the work, she was just easily bored and preferred to do anything else -anything - but sit in the library and try to catch up. But there she was, reading up transfiguration and scribbling notes with a simple, black quill.
Kayla ran a hand through her short, fluffy brown hair, and let out a frustrated sigh, as she, once again, had to cross out one of her answers. She skimmed through her textbook listly, wondering how much better it would have been to be outside in the sun. Out of the corner of her eyes, she noticed a girl approaching her. Just seeing her walk over made Kayla know something was needed, or maybe the girl just wanted something from behind her. True to her fact, the girl came right to where Kayla was sitting.
“Um, hello. I’m Lily, Lily Blaze. Do you, uh, mind if I sit here?”
Lily introduced herself, Kayla knew it was only polite to say she could take a seat.
"Yeah, yeah, of course! Take a seat." Kayla moved her bag from the seat next to her and moved her textbook to make some room. Just then, Kayla remembered that she hadn't introduced herself. "I'm Kayla Realma, by the way," she added hastily.

A Slytherin and a Hufflepuff
Kayla smiled bright as Lily sat down; when she had said she liked Kaylas name, Kayla was both flustered and overjoyed.
"Thank you! That's not a compliment I get everyday, since I have such a simple name and it's kinda common," Kayla admitted, but hearing the words come out of Kaylas mouth she figured it didn't sound the best. "I mean- it's not common, it's just a bit normal." Kayla added, worrying that Lily took it the wrong way.
When Lily bombarded Kayla with questions, Kayla was first stunned at first, but then she laughed. Lily was mirroring Kaylas exact personality of asking too many questions, or talking a bit more than necessary. She wasn't angry, or annoyed, she was simply amused. Kayla tried to remeber everything Lily had asked, but she had been unfortunately blessed with a not-so-good memory.
"Er, well Huffelpuffs are pretty cool people, saying it as it is, there are some unpleasant people.
Because everyone thinks that Huffelpuffs are such sweethearts, but not everyone in our house is like that; because stereotyping a person by their house is horrible, and I think that was the mistake for Hogwarts. Making someone feel different or more special than others because of some title they get by the sorting hat," Kayla said matter-of-factly, not meaning to sound serious or unpleasant, or she didn't mean to launch into her full opinion about Hogwarts houses. But that was as much as you could expect from Kayla.
"Uh..what else did you ask? Oh, right! Did i expect to be in Hufflepuff? Honestly, no. I didn't know what to expect so I kind of went, 'ah, oh well!' when I got sorted," Kayla admitted. "I wouldn't mind another house, but at the same time I honestly want to move houses. The cookies are irresistible."
Kayla felt that she had given pretty good answers, and was somewhat satisfied with what she had said.
"What about you? I didn't ask for your house but...Slytherin, right? Do you think you got into the right house? You like your house?" Kayla asked, directing the same questions Lily had asked her, back to Lily.

Kayla couldn't say she was shocked by the answer she received.
"You don't think so?" Kayla asked her, raising an eyebrow. She smiled softly, she understood. "The sorting hat made the right decision. You just need to see it. Honestly, I see you as a perfect Slytherin." Kayla added meekly, if Lily was surprised, Kayla wouldn't be surprised.
"I think your ambitious," Kayla started off, "I think your clever. I think you have a certain determination that drives you to do whatever you need to do." Kayla wasn't done, but she decided to leave it there. "Arent those the trait of a Slytherin? Ravenclaws aren't the only clever ones, you know."
Kayla sort of understood how Lily felt, the majority of her wizard family were Gryffindors. Her older sister Aly was in her fith year at Hogwarts, in Gryffindor. Liam was graduated from Hogwarts, he was in Gryffindor. Kayla never knew her mother, but was certain that Madeline was too a former Gryffindor. But, hey, the Sorting Hat doesn't lie. It see's what's hidden in your head.
"Anyway," Kayla said, "Where you think you belong isn't my business. But I think you make a perfect Slytherin." Kayla smiled kindly at Lily again before looking at her homework and groaning.
"Homework is exhausting and I wish it never existed. Curse you homework." she muttered, scribbling a duck in the corner of the page.

A Slytherin and a Hufflepuff
"People are often ignorant. But don't sweat it. You are a Slytherin, people saying your more like something else isn't going to change it," Kayla told Lily, "And if you get that comment again, just hold your head up high and say, 'I am Slytherin!' It'll be priceless seeing the look on the other persons face," she added with a smile. Kayla wanted to pounce on Lily, shake her and say, "repeat after me: I am Slytherin!", but one, they were in a library, two, it was a rather violent gesture.
Lily said Kayla was a good Hufflepuff and she smiled sheepishly. Lily said Kayla was kind and understanding, but she faltered a bit, trying to describe the undecribable.
"I try my best," she said sheepishly, twirling the quill in her hand. As Kayla leaned over and tried to focus on homework, Lily said she hated it too.
"You know what? I give up, this is hopeless. Transfiguartion is just science with magic," she grumbled as her brain tried to remember words such as protons and nucleus.
"I don't suppose you ever learnt science before?" she asked Lily, leaning back and playing with her quill again. "it was one of my least favourite subjects in school. Now I know why."@Lily Blaze
