─────The doll was now on fire and had bitten a Hogwarts girl. Keeping her calm, Astrid rolled her eyes. This was a ball, in a school. Even if a lot of her Durmstrang's Quidditch training were under rain or snow, which could be a little dangerous, her school would never let a creepy haunted doll at a ball. To be honest, Astrid was more woried about the bitten girl and the weird brown liquid of the doll that could stain her white dress than her own safety. She actually wasn't scared of that doll, she was just disgusted and tought that it was a little to much for a ball for teen students.
─────— If that thing wasn't on fire, I'll probably try to break it or something. It's porcelain doll, right?
─────Feeling Della grabing her hand, she gave a little pressure to reassure the Gryffindor. Astrid wasn't scared, and she didn't understood why Della and the others were scared of the doll, but she was there for her new friend. Della would probably be traumatized by this event, but Astrid will just remember it as an anoying disturbance to the ball. When the doll started to scream that she wanted to be a real girl, Della casted a Flipendo and the Durmstrang yelled at the doll to shut up because she was just a doll.

Bubba acted like Elsian making fun of them for having a nice time together wasn't a bad thing at all, much to her surprise. "Yeah!" she nodded seriously. The idea of her friend making fun of her and her crush was indeed horrible, he always did it. "He is always teasing me, saying you are my boyfrie-" the brunette stopped talking abruptly. She shouldn't have said that! WHY DID SHE HAVE TO SAY THAT?! What if she made it awkward now? Looking away to the ground, Samantha tried to hide her face, way too embarrassed to say anything, heart pounding in her chest.
When her date stopped walking and turned to her, telling her not to worry, she looked at him with her big blue eyes. A beautiful smile appeared when Bubba told her she was the only one he had eyes for. What a gentleman. "He just threw the doll away? That's so rude!" she said, not knowing about the true nature of the doll. A bit of disapproval appeared in her eyes when Bubba said a curse word. She knew he cursed and she had a strong opinion about it. Her goal was to stop him from cursing and make him a better human, maybe one day she would succeed. "Stephen sounds like a nice guy," she agreed with her date.
He had a phonograph? Not only was Bubba handsome, cool, and funny, but he also had a phonograph! "Of course! That sounds lovely," she told him.

As Bubba listened to Sam describe her friend Elsian's usual antics he got an unpleasant feeling in the pit of his stomach. On the one hand, he enjoyed needling his friends a bit, he liked to show his affection by cracking a joke here or there. On the other hand, he didn't like the idea of anyone making fun of Sam, she was much too perfect for that! He would have to behave himself whenever he met this character. If he was Sam's friend he would have to at least give him a chance.
As Sam kept talking he could tell that she was nervous she'd said too much. He supposed he was flattered, apparently, Sam talked about him enough for Elsian to make fun of her about it. He couldn't blame her, especially leading up to the ball he'd found herself thinking of her quite a lot. Still, he could tell that her mentioning the "b" word had really worried her. He could see her body tense up and her try to look down at the ground to avoid him. He didn't know what to say or do. He wanted to do something to let her know she hadn't made it weird. But what if in the course of that [i[he[/i] made it weird? He didn't want to ruin such a perfect night! He resolved to do something and finally, tentatively, because he wasn't sure what to do, he leaned over and kissed her on the cheek, hoping it conveyed what he meant to convey.
As they moved on from the potentially awkward situation, Bubba felt a bit better as they returned to the talk of his earlier meetings with the other partygoers. He had seen it a lot already tonight but every time he saw that beautiful smile of hers it made him feel a way he really didn't know how to describe. "It was both rude and odd," he agreed, referring back to the doll boy once again, "He seemed to think someone meant to do her harm with it which is, just kinda weird to me. I mean it's just a doll, right?" He said, shrugging his shoulders. The whole thing was peculiar. "Stephen's very nice, I was in a tent with him and a few other Americans at camp. It was nice, I love it here at Hogwarts but hanging out with them reminded me of home, well, my original home."
He could see in her eyes that she didn't approve of his cursing. He knew he probably cursed a bit too much but he couldn't help himself. Sometimes you needed a colorful metaphor to properly describe a situation and he wasn't afraid to use them. He supposed he got it from his dad, who did let them flow freely. Still, for her, he would at least try to tone it down for her, but there was no way he would be able to stop himself entirely, and nor would he want to, it was a part of who he was.
He was just so happy when said listening to music together sounded lovely. "Who knows," he said smiling widely at her, "Maybe we can even use some of those dance moves you're gonna teach me later."

Interacting with: @Ethan Smith
@Faye Simmons @Regina Miller
Mentioning:─────────────────── Her stomach was doing somersaults, and all she wanted to do right now was make a break for it. It wasn't Ethan's fault, he was a nice guy, but it was the fact that he might very potentially have feelings for her that were very much unwanted and was sending every nerve in her body into a frenzy. Unless she was reading the situation wrong, and she really hoped in this case that she was. At least while they were dancing, she could forget. At least temporarily. She loved dancing, it was an escape for her, and she most certainly needed that right now. With her experience in ballet and dance, she was able to glide along the dance floor gracefully in Ethan's arms, and he wasn't a horrible dancer either. At least he wasn't stepping on her toes, that was something.
Adelaide was trying very hard to avoid looking him in the face as they were dancing, suddenly finding everywhere that was not Ethan highly interesting. She plastered a smile on her face, hoping that she looked like she was enjoying herself even if all she wanted to do right now was flee and try to figure out why she felt the way she did. Would she ever find out? Who knows. Maybe she'll just forever be left wondering why she felt like the world was ending because this guy may or may not like her. Maybe Ethan just wasn't the guy for her. Maybe, maybe, maybe. So many maybes. She didn't want a 'maybe', she wanted an actual answer. But something told her that this was something she couldn't just search up in a textbook as she usually does. The Ravenclaw was so lost in her own thoughts that she barely realized they had stopped dancing.
"Huh?" She blinked, coming back to the present and barely catching onto the last sentence Ethan said, "Petting zoo? Uh," she glanced around quickly, almost desperately, trying to find an excuse to delay their visit to the petting zoo. There is bound to be someone she knows here so she could get a brief escape because she currently felt very trapped. Adelaide was fairly disappointed that she couldn't spot Esme anywhere, but whether she just couldn't see the girl, or the girl hadn't showed up yet was unknown, but she couldn't help but feel slightly angry considering she had spilled her guts out to Esme about her ball predicament, and the girl hadn't even showed up to be her saving grace! Logically, she knew she couldn't really fault Esme for not coming to save her, because she didn't need to, but it would've been appreciated.
Then her gaze caught on someone familiar. Two people, actually. And she internally cringed. Well, it looked like she had two choices right now. Suck it up, bury her emotions for the remainder of the night, and visit the petting zoo with Ethan or go over to her not so lovely cousin Regina Miller and her seems to be date (Girlfriend? Friend?), Faye Simmons, and waste some time by talking to them. Neither of the two options seemed overly appealing, but if she was being completely honest right now, she'd take Regina and Faye over the petting zoo with Ethan. "Yeah, sure, but first can I say hi to some people? I won't be that long, and you're free to come along," she gave Ethan a brisk smile before turning on her heel and making her way over to the fountain, whether Ethan had decided to follow her or not.
"Regina, Faye," Adelaide greeted the duo as she neared, a tight-lipped smile on her face as her gaze flitted between the two. She recognized Faye from not only the fiasco that occurred in the Great Hall yesterday (she was still very worried about Ivy and wasn't surprised that she didn't spot the older girl at the ball. Adelaide really hoped she was coping okay), but after everything had calmed down yesterday, she had then recognized Faye from seeing, and hearing, about a psycho girl starting a food fight during the Welcoming Feast. The Ravenclaw couldn't say she was surprised that Regina had found someone who was also crazy.
"I do hope I'm not interrupting anything here, but I thought I'd come say hi," her smile was sickeningly sweet, but hopefully they could see the underlying 'I literally would not be mad right now if you cast Flipendo or Incendio on me so I could have an excuse to leave, in fact, I would probably thank you'. "Are you both enjoying the ball?" Small talk was, admittedly, horrible, but in all honesty, Adelaide just wanted to waste as much time as possible talking to someone who wasn't Ethan. Even if she felt bad, because he wasn't even a horrible guy, and was actually very nice, but right now she wished she was cuddling up in her dorm room with her cat. Or at least, she wished she didn't have emotions right now, so she wouldn't need to feel so unnerved and just plain weird. Seriously, she had willingly chosen to engage in conversation with the cousin she didn't like and said cousin's probable date. There was something wrong.

Date: 10/08/22 | Time: Evening─────The sound of her name being called out snaps Avery back into focus. The first year had allowed her attention to drift from decoration to decoration with nothing short of an awed wonder at the amount of detail that went into the event. She briefly pondered if every school event would be this magically elaborate. She really hoped so.
Swinging her gaze towards where the call had originated from, the Hufflepuff found any response she’d been building scatter to the wind. The sight of Edme, fully decked out in an elaborate rose dress and complimenting flower crown, dashing towards her left her momentarily speechless. To say the girl looked stunning in their gown felt like an absolute understatement. The flush that rushed to her cheeks was near instantaneous upon catching sight of the Ravenclaw.
The greeting that follows finally breaks the first year out of her brief stupor. Avery can't hold back the knowing smile at the somewhat flimsy excuse. Not that she could blame her one bit. Were it not for the pep talk from Alma as they got ready for the night together, who knew how long it would have taken to build up the courage to make her way out to the courtyard. Further thanks were definitely in order later. "Edme! Hi!" she greets in return, posture straightening a little as she turns to devote her full attention to her date.
The blush does nothing to lessen at the compliment. The wide grin, however, only grew. "You're one to talk. You look positively stunning!" Avery lightly bounces on the balls of her feet as she peers at the girl beside her. It doesn’t do much to dissipate any of the nervous energy thrumming through her. “And not a problem at all, studying is very important,” she adds with an amused giggle.
It takes a moment of struggle to finally tear her gaze away from the Ravenclaw beside her, taking only a brief glance about the courtyard before her attention immediately reverts back to them. “They really went all out for the night, huh?” The smiles softens slightly, retaining the brightness from before despite the nerves still buzzing. “I, ah, can’t say I know much about balls aside from the dancing part, but it looks like they have some food and drink if you’re interested. And a few paths that branch off into…something? I’m not entirely sure yet.” Not quite sure what to do with herself, the first year clasps her hands before her, fidgeting slightly with her fingers.────────────────────────────────

Hannah Blossom, they had met in the Library, she loved books a lot, she said her favorite book was The Tales of Beadle and Bard. He still hadn't gotten the time to read it, he realized he wasn't even sure he would recognize her, considering that she could be in a costume, he wasn't sure if it would be as unrecognizable as himself. He usually sun kissed skin hidden under white and pink make-up, his dark curious eyes replaced with cartoony green ones. Though under all the clothes and makeup, his smile and heart stayed the same. Edward had to compliment whoever created and planned the whole event it was really breathtaking, he smiled revealing the small gap between his large two front teeth, odd yet charming.Fall Ball Partner: @Hannah BlossomStamina: 8 Evasion: 6 Strength: 3 Wisdom: 7 Arcane Power: 6 Accuracy:5

He then noticed noticed a girl with long red hair, and unmistakably icy eyes... It was Hannah! She had her hair wrapped and perfectly placed with the additions of braids and a long blue dress. It reminded him of two of his favorite movie series, The Lord of The Rings and The Hobbit by J.R.R Tolkien. Anyways she looked really pretty, she looked like an elegant elf. Edward walked over to her tapping her shoulder lightly with his bandaged hands.
"Hi Hannah," He grinned revealing the small gap between his two large front teeth. He held up the red-painted white rose bouquet he held behind his back as a surprise. He wondered if she would know that he was the Mad Hatter or not, hopefully she would. After he had given her the bouquet of roses, he decided to ask 2 questions.
"I love your costume or uh... outfit! Is it Hobbit?" He asked curiously, his crazy green contacts piercing her. He grinned at her. He looked around the fall ball, he saw that everyone as getting ready to dance, he smiled holding out his arm to Hannah, bowing lightly like a gentlemen.
"May I have this dance?" he smiled from beneath the brim of his dusty-brown, ornate hat.

She found him dressed as the Mad Hatter. "Hi Edward! I love your costume, it's very creative. Mad Hatter right?" The girl had fond memories of reading "Alice's adventures in Wonderland by Lewis Carroll" when she was younger, it was one of her favorites and she loved the illustrations, a classic work. She smiled happily. He was almost not even recognizable. He held up a red-painted white rose bouquet and handed it to Hannah. "Thank you!" she said and continued: "These look lovely!" She did not expect such a romantic gesture. Since, well they had only met a few days ago at the library. "I love your costume or uh... outfit! Is it Hobbit?" he asked. "Yes, it is." she responded. "I love your hat it's..." She couldn't find the right words... Extravagant? No too exaggerated. Beautiful? Maybe or "marvelous!" the word slipped from her mouth. "Did you make it yourself? It's wonderful!" She looked around and saw some people getting ready to dance. "May I have this dance?" he smiled from beneath the brim of his dusty-brown, ornate hat. She froze for a moment as she hadn't thought of dancing. The truth was she did not know how to dance. "Of course!" she didn't think, she just replied.

fairietale endings ball 2022october 8thevening//outfitESMERAY ROSSLYN WAS extremely late to the very first Hogwarts ball she'd actually put some effort into thinking about. The ball she was supposed to meet her anonymous pen pal Maisie at. The ball they'd decided to go to together, and were supposed to have so much fun at, and... oh god. Why exactly had she thought it a good idea to spend all day drawing? It wasn't, that was for sure - not at all. Sketching was something Esme could lose herself in easily. Very easily. As in, waste a whole day drawing and not notice anything going on around her and completely forget that the ball was a thing and that she was a person who existed and had agreed to go to this ball and why was she so stupid???
It was only when she started feeling hungry again that Esme even looked up from her art. She'd been using watercolor paints all day, having recently received a sketchbook made for that type of art from her aunt back home. Eventually, the girl's eyes had wandered to the very empty room, then the clock, then she'd processed the time, and then—absolute chaos as she tried to get ready as quickly as she possibly could. Honestly, she must have broken some kind of record in the process (or maybe she'd just forgotten a million steps along the way) because somehow, getting ready only took her twenty minutes total. Others must have spent hours on their dresses and makeup and hair—not Esme. And yet, she didn't look entirely terrifying. That's what she was trying to convince herself of, anyway, as she tried to keep her balance in the heels she'd (again) stupidly decided on.
As she stepped through the castle doors and out into the courtyard, the girl sucked in a breath. It was gorgeous. The sky a perfect match to the decorations below, the stars shimmering up above... it really was quite amazing. Walking into it all felt like the perfect fairytale moment. And then Esme's thoughts came rushing back and "Maisie. Right. I've got to find Maisie." Slipping through so many people wasn't the easiest thing to do, however, and it took a little while to move away from the entrance area at all. Ten minutes in, Esme wasn't sure she'd done anything but run around in circles... although the ravens were new? Looking up at the black birds above her, she leaned a little closer.
"CAW, CAW, CAW"
Eyes red, they flapped their wings at her and oh, they weren't real, but they'd certainly startled her. Shaking her head, Esme turned back around. This whole thing was stupid. Maisie didn't seem to be there, she'd only spotted one or two people she knew, and now she'd been scared by a bunch of fake birds. Noticing a table full of drinks, Esmeray examined them for a second. No, better to save that for a little later after she'd found her friend, although they certainly looked interesting. And so she continued her search.
To no avail, of course.
Except now, here was something. She'd spotted Addie and the boy that must be her date. What was his name, again? Ethan. Right. The one Addie wasn't sure about. Yes, that was him. It had to be. So what was she waiting for? Why hadn't she started walking over? Addie and her had become friends since their first, slightly awkward meeting. They were friends now. Friends. Friends talked to each other—that's how friendship worked. And even if she was experiencing this strange prickly feeling and didn't want to go over there, shouldn't she go out of loyalty to her friend? Esmeray knew how Addie felt about the whole date thing and she'd been the one to comfort her just a few days ago. So what was stopping her??? Why had that strange feeling suddenly gotten so strong?
Closing her eyes for a brief moment, Esme tried to calm herself down. It was going to be okay. It was going to be okay. It was going to be—wait. They were gone. Addie and Ethan had disappeared. Panic rushed through the gryffindor once more and oh god oh god of course it was all going wrong. Of course it was...
When she spotted the blonde once more, she was talking to some other girls. Other friends, probably. It would be so awkward if she walked over and said hi now, wouldn't it? Yes, definitely. Way too awkward. Ignoring the fact that these were all just excuses, Esme took another breath and sat down on one of the stone ledges beside her. Attempting to quiet her thoughts, the girl closed her eyes once more.
This ball wasn't turning out to be any different than the rest. Sitting alone on the side, no one to talk to... Maybe she'd have to go grab something to drink in a bit.@Maisie Florakis @Adelaide Barlowe @Faye Flynn

Percival side eyed the boy and raised a brow to the reason why he was here "Just here huh?" he said casually while the boy continued, unknowing what he meant by flames and thinking of smart reply to say back at him. Gray rolled his eyes and slowly shook his head "I very much doubt that flamboyancy..." he muttered, especially with a beard like that showing from your chin.
Surprisingly, his words were soon to be proven wrong when a girl came over to admire the beard by tugging it curiously. Gray couldn't help but release an amused smile, the kid must have used some pretty good cosmetic or spell to make a fine beard like that "You should tug harder, maybe then you'll see if it's real or not" he said to the girl before looking to LeStranges motion to indicate he didn't know her. Gray shrugged back and didn't really bat an eyelid when he said he was gay. That didn't bother by the very least, it was the sound of his voice that was making him suspicious.
It reminded him of a lad he hadn't seen for a long time. He used to be a good friend of San before all the hag events happened, was it really him or his mind playing tricks on him "By the way... you do sound familiar" Gray said before finally turning to him with a questionable expression "Have we met before?"
Percival looked at his number one beard fan briefly and motioned toward him "Do you know who this is?"

Interacting with Milo Durand (@Delilah Stewart), @Howard White, @Bloom Silverton
Mentions: @Hugh Lowe
Before her conversation with Milo could continue, she heard a familiar voice greeting her. Her eyes widened slightly as she quickly turned to spot Howard and his girlfriend approaching. Right. Whilst she did not consider Bloom a friend anymore, having felt betrayed by her and still hurt by that, Serena figured that she could - at the very least - be civil to her. After all, if he was with anyone else, she would be polite to them. Maybe she ought to compliment their attire, how well they matched or uh ask them if they were going to dance or if they were having a nice evening or... something else polite and kind!
"Oh- hey- no no! Milo is far too popular-" She started to explain as she heard Howard's question, to tell them that Milo was not her date. Milo probably had a really cute date already, she had no intention of dragging him into this awkward mess. Silence quickly fell on her as Bloom started to speak. For the love of Bodrig, what was wrong with this one? Weren't Ravenclaws stereotypically supposed to be... smart? Or at least somewhat wise? Serena stared at the Ravenclaw for a moment, trying to process what the heck she was talking about.
She knew what she should have done. If she was anything like Bloom, perhaps she would have. She very easily could have lied and said that the cute Beauxbatons was her boyfriend but unlike Bloom, Serena was not a liar. She waited for the Ravenclaw to shut up before turning to Howard and replying, "Anyway, as I was saying... This is Milo, he's far too popular with girls to be my date. My date's uh... I have no idea where he is," She responded as she looked around once more to see if she could spot the guy but it appeared that he had still not arrived. Where the heck was Hugh Lowe-
Realisation suddenly dawned on her. Perhaps it was the fact that her thoughts were clearer but a soft gasp escaped her. She shook her head to herself, turning towards Milo, "I- I forgot to ask him. I just realised that... I forgot to bloody ask- I'm an idiot. We're all good. It wasn't his fault, I forgot to ask him-" She mumbled about her date, realising that she had just made the assumption that they'd hang out at the ball together since pft, who else would either of them hang out with? But she had actually completely forgotten to even ask him if he was attending or not. Welp. On the plus side, at least she was not stood up... She was just an idiot.
Well this made things even more awkward. Now she was dateless and alone whilst the guy she had crushed on for the worse part of a year was with a girl that had betrayed her and they were very awkwardly bringing up this entire experience. Again. In such an awkward method. She hated this. Was it acceptable to just turn heel and run away... yet again? That seemed to be her reaction to dealing with awkward situations in the past. Not that it ever worked out before...
As she stood there, listening to the words being spoken by her former friend, she wanted nothing more than to roll her eyes and snarl at Bloom's fakeness. The girl had never bothered to apologise after lying straight to her face before going behind her back and yet she had the audacity to stand there and imply that Serena was the reason they weren't friends?
She wanted to say nothing. Perhaps it was best if she said nothing. Being polite was always good. Being civil to her friend's date was appropriate. But something inside of her bubbled with a rage. She hated always being quiet. She hated being the one who had to suck it up and deal with whatever others decided to throw her way. She hated her inability to stand up for herself. For months, she had been learning how to get back up when someone beat her up and how to fight better. She had been training till her body was ready to collapse.
This was not a physical battle by any means. But during each training, during the battles and the war... her mindset had started to shift. Without her realising, perhaps, it had changed over the months. She was no longer the same quiet meek girl that Bloom had been 'friends' with. She raised her hand, putting up one finger. "First of all - 6 months since what? By my calculations that would be around April, the Blossomball. You believe our issues stem from there?" She asked Bloom, wondering if that was the point where Bloom realised that she was a terrible friend. That was not the date she would have gone with but if it was the date Bloom went with... then that made everything way worse.
"Secondly -" She raised another finger, "How I felt about Howard is not the reason that we aren't friends. Our friendship was destroyed the moment that I realised you don't value friendship, that you're incapable of being one. I don't have space in my heart for liars. But more than that, I no longer have time or energy to waste on those who don't respect the relationship we have." Serena stated as though it was fact. Bloom had failed to respect their friendship. That lack of respect was what broke Serena's heart. It hurt far more than anything else. She could handle her crush liking someone else. Hell, she expected him to. She never once thought he might actually like her, she was never good enough for him. What broke her heart was how Bloom treated her.
Raising another finger, Serena continued without falter - even if someone else was talking, she would talk over them to continue, "Thirdly - don't worry about the tournament. You aren't important enough for my feelings to interfere with it. This tournament is bigger than both of us and I will do everything in my power to win, even if that means I have to suffer your bullshit for the year to come. Even if that means that I have to beat my friends-" She paused to look over her shoulder at Milo, "Beauxbatons is great but you'll have to settle coming second to us," She warned him. They were friends and she loved the French school's champion, as well as about half of them. Heck, she had friends at multiple other schools. But the hexwizard tournament was more than friendship. It was everything to her.
The feeling of nausea bubbled up inside of her. She was not one for public displays of affection or flirting by any means. Serena's response to liking a guy was running away. She was horribly awkward when she liked someone and seeing others flirt was not something she particularly liked. The fact that it was Howard and Bloom made this whole thing worse. The precise conversation was even worse. What the actual hell was wrong with them? Why did they think this was an appropriate conversation to have in front of, well, anybody? She looked at Milo, wondering if they should just turn around and leave. What the hell was she supposed to say or do?
Serena did not expect anything from Bloom by now but Howard? What the- Wait, this was weird for him- "What the hell is wrong with you?" The words came out faster than she had finished thinking about it and perhaps, in a far less polite manner than she would have liked. Either way, it got the point across. Something was off with him, surely. This wasn't... him? But who knew, maybe dating Bloom had rubbed off on him in a negative manner. Ugh, she wanted to be sick. She stared at Howard, trying to figure out what the heck was wrong with him...
