Where She Shouldn’t Be
It was more out of nervousness than genuine feelings of funniness that Dinah laughed at Chloe’s cobweb scare. It was a short bark of a laugh that was clearly unintended to be quite as loud and prominent as it had been. She felt her cheeks flush and avoided Chloe’s gaze like it was the plague. One thing Dinah hated more than anything was embarrassing herself in front of other people.
As of yet, all they had experienced was a few false starts and the occasional wisp of wind, a shadow of a figure, but had there actually been something?
Yes, Dinah was sure of it. Chloe had seen it too and she was determined they were going to get to the bottom of what it was. Chloe had been right when she said it was big but it had also been transparent leading Dinah to believe it was probably a ghost, just a big ghost. She sincerely hoped it wasn’t dangerous and that maybe it would be a Casper the friendly type ghost.
“Come on, ghosty! Come out, come out where ever you are. We just want to talk...” She wasn’t trying to goad the ghost exactly, just encourage it out of hiding. “Hey Chloe, let me know if you see anything non-cobwebby okay?”
Admittedly, most of the toilets were covered in stuff that could only be described as ‘cobwebby’ but Dinah knew there was something hidden amongst it all and as if it was reading her mind, the shadow loomed again. This time it was dead ahead of the two girls and getting closer.

Where She Shouldn’t Be
Chloe rolled her eyes jokingly and laughed at herself again. "Yeah yeah." She smiled and moved her gaze from Dinah to the shape that was growing larger in front of them. She widened her eyes and gasped, backing up against the wall. She wanted to put some distance between her and the shadow growing larger in front of the girls.
Chloe had originally wanted to feel brave, but all of that braveness was out the window. That's why she wasn't put in Gryffindor, after all. She glanced down at her wand, just to make sure it was still there. She tightened her grip on it, focusing on the shape.
"It's just a ghost... that's all it is." She was mostly trying to convince herself, but she knew that's all Dinah was sure it was. It didn't make her feel any better though. Just the thought that ghosts exist at Hogwarts was still hard to believe.

Where She Shouldn’t Be
Unable to deny that she was in fact feeling pretty terrified, Dinah attempted a smile Chloe's way but it failed as it reached the corners of her lips. Although she had her wand in her hand she wasn't confident in her ability to use it at the moment. Her hands were shaking ever so slightly. It was times like this that Dinah wondered what the sorting hat had been thinking putting her in Gryffindor. She was hardly brave and she couldn't help but think she never would be.
The dark shape had been moving closer and closer to the two girls, getting slowly bigger. At first it had seemed as if whatever was casting the shadow had been in front of them, hidden somewhere. But Dinah began to wonder if the shadow was being cast from behind. It was with this in mind that she slowly turned where she was stood, being careful not to knock into Chloe.
"I think it's behind us..." Dinah whispered, her eyes searching wildly for any sign of a giant hulking figure that was about to murder the both of them. She had hoped that with it being a magic school, their security system would be a little more reliable. Then again, she probably shouldn't have been skipping class to explore abandoned bathrooms. Despite Dinah's instincts going wild, there was nothing behind her but the rest of the dusty room sitting silently, almost like it was waiting for something to happen.
Although it was a serious situation and she was feeling the fear, Dinah knew that the best way to combat fear was with a bit of laughter. With this in mind, she continued looking around like she had never been so scared in her life, subtly moving into position behind Chloe and hoping she wouldn't realise what the girl was planning.
Dinah let a few moments of silence pass between them before she raised her hands and lightly pushed Chloe's shoulders. "RARGH!!"
She couldn't help the laugh that bubbled from her lips as she scared the other girl, forgetting momentarily that there was a giant looming shadow just a short way ahead of them. When she eventually looked back to where the shadow had been, she stood open mouthed.
"Chloe, look! That things gone but look at where it was! All the dust, the muck it's just disappeared. Can ghosts do that?"
