I remember reading I am number four. And a few years rereading it and finding the writing so crappy, like how did I even think that was good? (Ahem throwback to my old writing)

That's very similar to what I've gone through too with watching series/movies back in the past. I remember them as being soooo amazing back then and then when I watch them now I'm like oh my it's extremely boring and really bad hahahahaha.

Like now my writing has evolved, I find it hard to find a book that stimulates my interest. Because the writing has to play a big part wether I like it or not.

YOU SHOULD! It's really good and there are 6 total books in the series. There's also a new series starting too that's a prequel for it called the Rise of the School for Good and Evil. But don't read that one until you've at least read Book 1 of SfGaE.
