“Let me answer that in a moment, please. You deserve a real explanation.”
The fact that Valentin asked to answer at a later time impressed the Mahoutokoro student. He had been certain that most would have simply brushed off the question or just provided a quick, insubstantial answer in favor of going to do whatever else it was they meant to do. So Ginyami waited patiently in his seat, satisfied enough that he wouldn't have minded if Valentin had been called away by his schoolmates for the rest of the evening. His bond with them seemed remarkably strong, after all, and he certainly couldn't have been faulted for it.
Meanwhile, the fourth year listened to Hiro as the underclassman made a face, explaining what had happened during the event in which he had met Valentin. He laughed lightly, shaking his head at the story and storing away the information - including the bit about the victim's name being Mikael - for a later time.
Ginyami and Hiro watched the fights between other students from foreign schools escalate until they finally began to taper off. He kept a hand firmly on the pink-haired boy's shoulder, voicelessly hoping to discourage the friendly and altruistic Hiro from attempting to get involved, but he need not have worried. Hiro stayed put, perhaps sensing that it was better to leave the quarrelling to the others even if he might have wanted to step in to help or break up the fight. Ginyami was certain that any attempts to do so wouldn't have been appreciated by any side.
Despite his doubts that Valentin would return, return he did, further ascending his opinion of him in Ginyami's book. The Japanese teen smiled and nodded to him in recognition of his presence once he sat again and folded his hands atop the table. Then he leaned in to listen, noting with interest that Valentin began with stating he was pleased Ginyami had asked straightforwardly. He would have to remember that. Remembering what pleased people and making sure to provide them with that pleasure any chance he got was one of the skills Ginyami prided himself on the most. Valentin certainly seemed like the sort of person he most wanted to please, too, with his keen eye for details and careful observations - not to mention the way he seemed to read people so much easier than others.
Ginyami's dark-eyed gaze drifted from the steady, gleaming gems of Valentin's face to the pale scars visible on his open, right palm when he put it out. He wondered idly if they had been caused by playing Quidditch or some other cause. As his conversation partner spoke, Ginyami picked out the name 'Stribog' and decided from context clues that it must have been a deity of some sort. Sent him to his death... As much as the Japanese boy would have liked to ask about those occasions, he knew better than to interrupt. So he contented himself with witnessing that dazzling grin and continued to listen attentively, drinking in each syllable. The grace of a great man... Hmm. Valentin's lids had fallen and his shining teeth bit his pale lips.
His family is no more? No wonder he seemed so troubled and so close with his Durmstrang classmates. They must have been the closest thing he had to family now.
“Even if I got what I wanted, the gifts I was granted in this life would still pass away with me,” he said, his words like cool water pouring through Ginyami. “I try to give everything of myself while I am still alive, but it’s not enough. None of what I give is ever enough. I just…”
Then their eyes met again and the Durmstrang student swallowed with a one-eyed wince before shuddering. When he apologized for speaking cryptically and moving too fast, Ginyami shook his head, wishing to quell Valentin's concerns. For the other to have been this open and forthcoming about so much and such personal details in his life was something he would not take for granted. It must have been difficult enough trying to tell these things to someone he had only just met and the raven-haired teen was grateful for it no matter what form it took.
"It honors me that you consider me so deserving of such an answer," he stated truthfully, dipping his head yet again. But Valentin had clawed the table and tugged at his starlight white hair in what Ginyami could only assume was frustration. He reached out to him tentatively, as if in a desire to offer comfort, but eventually thought better of it, as he wasn't rightly sure what exactly to do.
He was stunned when Valentin spoke again, his lips parting slightly in surprise and his outstretched hand falling back into his lap. He was the one who sought others' company; who sought to learn more about them. He hadn't known many who wished to know about him, much less after so short a time of having met one another. When he was called intriguing, an unfamiliar warmth spread across his cheeks and he reached up to touch one, curious and stricken by the reaction. His face must have been flushed.
"Then I am glad and fortunate that you feel that way," he said at last once Valentin had cradled his face in his hands. "Because I find you to be just as intriguing. And I, too, wish to learn more about you." He gestured delicately with a hand. "Perhaps, if you will allow it, we can learn more about each other? Together?" His smile was small but inviting as he watched the snow-complexioned prince.

As he pulled down his hands in perfect silence, the frost captain’s face shimmered like spring snowmelt for only a moment before he pushed away the tears on his cheeks with his scarred palm. Learn more about each other? This one, the silver darkness… The seeker blinked through the watery distortion in his eyes as he focused them back on Ginyami’s blushing fox face. Droplets still clung to Valya’s white eyelashes and scattered a ring of translucent geometric patterns around the other boy. Through a wash of synaesthesia Valentin perceived Ginyami as a sort of complicated two-hand piano chord, loaded with black keys and almost an arpeggio: the musical equivalent of a hundred-petal dark chrysanthemum. Intriguing isn’t a good enough word for this, Valentin decided. I… I need the piano here. It’s too complicated, and I don’t understand yet. Maybe… maybe he has the answer. Maybe he holds the key to the melody I can’t seem to complete.
Rubbing his eyes with his long fingers, Valentin looked again, only to feel warmed by the boy’s small smile like a bonfire invitation from an already-dear friend. From the beginning, the seeker felt they played the conversational game on the same level – a rare occasion already, but even more extraordinary was feeling a sort of profound, primaeval summons. Valya couldn’t help but relate the sensation to glimpsing the golden spark inside the void that was Mikael, like chasing the snitch through a moonless night, but somehow… this felt more elaborate, more palpable, more thrilling. Yet, hadn’t the situation with Mikael already sent Valentin crashing to his death, and then later shattering the seeker's body just days before the quidditch championship? Brows knotting together, Valentin began to spin the ring around his finger again as he sank into thought.
How could Valya afford to open up to Ginyami now? Others were counting on him, and with devotion that ran as deep as Valentin’s, he was sure to slam into limitations quickly with untold fallout. Limits, the seeker smirked as light returned to his eyes. Getting to know this boy will push my limits farther, I can just feel it, and I can… I can push his, too. I think he wants me to challenge him. I want to be good for him. Let me help him soar. I can do this, we… Looking back to his team and lingering over the pained form of Beater #4, Valentin laid his right hand over his left. Perhaps I have gone too fast already, but if I can just keep going… this connection can turn into something great. I can feel it. Turning back to the raven-haired boy, Valentin’s face dawned with a smile as the fox’s gratitude sank deep into him.
“What a blessing it is for me to accept your offer, Ginyami. How lucky I am to have met you here when so easily we might never have crossed paths.” Valentin’s tenor flowed rich with genuine emotion. “It would be great to meet you and Hiro out on the pitch… and there’s something else, if you happen to have a free evening, Ginyami. Perhaps tonight, or tomorrow, I’d like your opinion about something, please.” As he leaned forward, Valentin’s hand crept across the table, slowly, like a wandering dune. His keen eye had caught the tentative, stifled gesture the other boy made earlier, right before Valentin shot his amethyst eyes back into the ceiling. Now, the seeker stopped his ring finger one inch over the exact center of the table, pressing it down into the wood as delicately as a piano key. “After dinner, would you have time for sharing the finer points of our stories and observations?”

How passionate and sincere was this starlight Seeker to have been brought to tears in his efforts to express what was on his mind? And as for what was on his mind - Ginyami was still having trouble wrapping his own head around it. He really wanted to learn about him? Him, the one who had so fascinated Ginyami all evening? For the feeling to be mutual was too much to put into words. Its warmth flooded his face and moved outward to envelope his entire body. So...this is what it's like to feel flattered, he thought musingly. No wonder it's so...intoxicating for people.
It wasn't as though he hadn't been complimented or praised before, but such things hadn't affected him in such a manner previously. He had already held himself in such high esteem that others' positive opinions of him only served to support his ego rather than boost it. Thus, he hadn't felt any positive opinions counted as flattery when he already believed himself to be entirely deserving of them. This, though...this talented young man had just met him and yet wanted to know more. Ginyami could hardly have expected that.
Because he hadn't been expecting it, however, he began to become conflicted. The Mahoutokoro student knew very well that others may have considered his real personality to be unpleasant - deceitful, insensitive, and manipulative for starters. The only one who was aware of his true nature and still stuck around him was Hiro, but Hiro was an exception.
Aside from being one of the most tolerant and friendly people Ginyami knew, Hiro had grown up with him from a young age and thus had become used to the way he was. For a new acquaintance like Valentin, the only side he had been exposed to so far was the malleable mask Ginyami presented to those he wanted to get closer to. If the pure-hearted, genuine Valentin knew what his peer was really like, he was sure to be in for a shock; one that was likely to change whatever favorable opinions of him he might have made thus far.
So Ginyami, who believed it was in his best interests to keep the attention of and better befriend the Durmstrang Seeker, made a decision. He could become more familiar with Valentin and even allow Valentin to become more familiar with him, but not too much, lest the white-haired wonder become repulsed by what he learned. Ginyami had thought it before and he reminded himself again - he would have to be exceedingly careful around this one, as the Seeker had already demonstrated that he was extremely shrewd and observant even beyond the game of quidditch.
I wonder if I can come to learn more about you than you of me he thought with some amusement, already feeling as though a challenging game was afoot. It had been quite some time since he had encountered any sort of challenge and Valentin couldn't have been a more splendid one.
As he watched the other teenager spin his ring around his finger, he wondered what sort of conflicts of his own Valentin had. There were clearly some as evidenced by the knotting of his light brows. Suddenly, though, he began to smirk before looking back at his schoolmates. Placing one hand over the other, he then turned back to Ginyami and expressed his own gratitude that they had met. He followed this up with a statement that it would be great to meet him and Hiro out on the pitch. And then he invited Ginyami to spend a free evening with him to get his opinion on something.
Undeniably curious, the Japanese student regarded Valentin's travelling hand before its owner stopped to press down on the wood of the table's center. "I would be delighted to do so tonight if you are not too tired after you have eaten," Ginyami answered, looking up from the table to meet those sparkling gems once again.

Valentin had never been one to go half-way into any relationship. Obsessive when he finally found something he wanted, the Durmstrang tryhard’s dedication proved to be both a force to be reckoned with for opponents of his chosen pursuits and a stalwart bastion of loyalty to his friends. For the young fox to have so piqued Val’s interest now was a rare occasion indeed, as most people tended to bore him within minutes of getting acquainted. Valentin Schnell was, if nothing else, fast, and with such quicksilver reaction times came a mind that became terribly pained when understimulated. In the months following his death in particular, the revenant’s cravings for intense and thrilling action and interactions intensified as his sensitivities heightened with new life. Still, adaptable in finding ways to keep himself invigorated during long-haul engagements, Valentin had no lack of patience for what really mattered to him and his intuition had long-since developed a reliable sense for what he cared about. Yes, Valentin wanted to know everything there was to know about Ginyami, and at whatever pace he could manage it, the seeker aimed to dive even the blackest depths of the silver darkness just as fearlessly as he did with Mikael. Having only just met Ginyami, had Valentin’s resolve not crystallized with ludicrous haste? Either way, this was the only way the comet Icarus knew how to live, blazing into the unknown with the momentous force of his open heart.
"I would be delighted to do so tonight if you are not too tired after you have eaten," answered the Japanese fox, opening the way for what was sure to be a new adventure. A visible cringe passed across Valentin's face at the thought of the Hogwarts dining arrangements, but his face rapidly shifted into a satisfied chuckle. He still had an ace up his sleeve.
“Excellent. Meet me, please, in the 4th floor music practice room at the stroke of eight.” Valentin rose from his chair, folded one arm over his chest, and gave Ginyami a short bow as he took a step away from the table. A lightning-fast grin streaked across Valya’s face as he tucked away his chair and turned to head back towards his team mates. In a flash, Valentin was standing behind Beater #4 again, putting his hands on the back of the boy’s seat as the Italian tried to ease the pain in his head. Valentin turned with a glance at Ginyami for only a moment before absorbing himself in the problem of easing his co-captain's suffering.

ㅤ──────────────────────| ── | It seemed as if this happened all the time. Every time foreign schools gathered together at the same location, something always happened to set them off. Back during the Blossom Ball something similar had occurred, although nothing too bad had gone on during the main arrivals back then. Well, other than schools trying their best to capsize the boats of other schools. Mahoutokoro had skillfully avoided this chaotic time. But that was because they were the best at evading, or so Hiro and the others at his school liked to think. This time, tensions were a bit higher due to the upcoming Hexwizard Tournament going on. Maybe that was why a fight had broken out almost immediately upon convening at the table. Everyone seemed to want to show off their skills, protect their reputations and defend their friends and teammates. But what they didn't seem to understand was that freaking out about things right now was the worst thing they could have done. Those who tried to provoke others would get what they wanted from them and it would also make those who fell for it look bad in the eyes of others. Thankfully, Mahoutokoro was one of the few schools who didn't have any members fall for the provocations. Hiro let out a faint sigh as he regarded those present around him at the time. They all seemed so nice. That is, given the opportunity to be so. All anyone really needed was a chance to show off their good sides. The only question was whether that person would want to do so. Hiro wondered if there would ever come a time when they could all get along peacefully, instead of take offense at things said or done. But he did understand how tempers could flare up and emotions could overcome a person. However, he still felt as if it would have been nice to see all the foreign schools get along together for once. Without any form of conflict between them. Hell, what if all the foreign schools teamed up to go against Hogwarts? Could that possibly inspire any kind of unity between them? Or was even that impossible? Hiro had been distracted by his thoughts and as such had let the conversation between Ginyami and Valentin go on between them for quite some time. It was only when Valentin spoke his name that the pink haired boy glanced over at him again. Hiro let his dark eyes flicker over Valentin as the other boy spoke, extending a personal invitation towards his friend to meet after dinner. A smirk came to his lips. Well, wasn't that rather lovely? Could Valentin be hitting on Yami? He glanced back at his friend to gauge his reaction to his 'flirting'. Well, he seemed interested in him. Whether that interest was platonic or romantic by nature remained to be seen and could not be said at the time. As Valentin softly gave Ginyami a time and location for their little tryst meeting, Hiro grinned at his friend and nudged him. "Have fun later with him. But don't get too enamored, the magic might wear off sooner than you think." He teased Ginyami but secretly hoped that the two would develop a good relationship with eachother. They looked good together. If they got along well, they should definitely hook up in one way or another. As Valentin excused himself and walked back over to where he'd left Romeo before, Hiro glanced around the table. He and Akira were still there, as were a lot of other members from different foreign schools. The question now was whether they should stay and linger, or leave. Lurking at the table to try and overhear conversations could be beneficial in the end but at the same time it might also be detrimental too. Hiro glanced over at his beloved friend and a smile came to his lips. He could stare at Akira for hours on end and never get tired of doing so. Glancing over at Ginyami again, the pink haired boy gave him a smile too. "Will you stay at the table for awhile more too?" "Or do you have other plans? I mean other than your date with Val." Hiro said, teasing him again. ────────────────────── ㅤ ㅤ──────────────────────

A rising brow accompanied a broadening, puzzled smile as he noticed Valentin cringe, curious as to what had caused it. In a second, however, it was swept away with a chuckle and a polite set of instructions to meet him in the practice room on the fourth floor at 8 o'clock.
Ginyami returned the bow he received with one of his own as best he could while he was still seated at the table. He was musing over the grin he saw and the final glance his way when Hiro nudged him and his kohai's Japanese struck him like a bludger to the head.
The fourth year blinked a moment before his smile turned wicked and he reached over with both hands to tug on both Hiro's ears at the same time. "Good little kohais should respect their senpais, not tease them," he chided, letting go after a minute or two. "What do you mean by magic wearing off, anyway? Is there something you know that I don't? Because I'm sure that whatever it is, it isn't matters of the heart."
So he said, but watching Hiro suddenly smile upon looking at Akira, Ginyami's own expression softened. Perhaps he did know something about matters of the heart...even if he may not have been quite aware of it yet.
"I think I'll stay for a while longer with you two," he began, but quickly followed up with, "No, I don't have other plans. And it's not a date!"

So sorry this is late, I thought I'd already posted it!Lucia had almost forgotten that Ye-jun would have made his way across the Channel in a giant flying carriage."The views must be-" Lucia gulped unintentionally - "good though... right?" Heights weren't for her first-hand, but she did like hearing other people's descriptions of beautiful views from above, and even photographs. As long as she didn't have to go herself, Lucia was fine.
Luckily, Ye-jun was instantly comfortable with River and didn't seem to mind her attempt to get some food. When he stretched out his hand to scratch her head, River paused for a moment and allowed a second of his attentions before running back along Lucia's shoulder and hiding in the curtain of her hair. Lucia wondered sometimes whether her long hair had been the deciding factor in River liking her: it was the perfect hiding spot for a little pygmy puff. "I... I guess." Lucia didn't entirely follow Ye-jun, having never been a big animal person herself (apart from River, obviously) but she could understand the gist. "That makes sense," she said in response to Ye-jun's advice regarding force. She didn't think she'd ever be able to use force on River anyway - she was just too cute to be mistreated.
Lucia considered Ye-jun's offer for a split second before agreeing. "That would be really nice of you." Lucia might finally be able to take River places without her trying to eat everyone's earwax and mucus, which would be nice. "Do you have any pets?" Lucia asked as she served herself some food.

ㅤ──────────────────────| ── | Yami's reaction... It was to be expected from him and Hiro couldn't help but laugh as he tried to dodge the attack from the other. "Ah! Ah! Ah! Ah!" He exclaimed as Ginyami reached over to tug at both of his ears in an affectionate manner, while chastising him at the same time. "Heh. You know me. Since when have I ever done that?" Hiro teased him again with sparkling eyes. Yami's confusion regarding his earlier words made him grin at the other boy. Lately, Hiro had been reading up on muggle fairy tales, courtesy of Red's influence. The whole prince and princess fairy tales were now a favorite of his. "You know the phrase, 'too good to be true'?" Hiro asked him arching a brow. Many might have thought he was serious... After all... Valentin was like a prince in those tales, handsome, popular, charming, full of charisma and perfect in every way. A prince who in real life might not measure up completely to who you thought he would be, once you got to know him. Of course, there was always the chance that he might be even better than a fairy tale prince. But it could go either way, it all depended upon how things turned out and what the situation was. The best way to protect yourself was to have fun but never let your guard down too much. But that was just his opinion. Everyone was different in the end. Hiro finished what was on his plate. After all, he didn't want to leave anything delicious there in case the fight from before escalated again. Hopefully it wouldn't though, especially since Valentin had gone over to protect and support Romeo. It would be foolish for others to continue to aggravate them. As Yami spoke again, saying he'd stay for awhile longer, Hiro nodded and couldn't help but grin at his friend's last words about it not being a date with the White Seeker. "Sure, whatever you say." Hiro said with a knowing look at him and smirked. It was nice being around people he wasn't familiar with because he loved making new friends all the time. Roleplaying as Lee Ye-jun from Beauxbatons – Encyclopedia
Violet in English, Red in Korean and Blue in French“Oh yes. The views are magnificent. Unless you are afraid of heights of course. I know of few students that decided not to visit Hogwarts precisely for that reason, which is understandable.” Ye-jun personally never found heights scary but it was quite common fear.
The Beauxbatons student was vaguely aware of some brawl starting out nearby but for now, he remained focused on the fluffy ball in front of him. He scratched it gently then let the little creature retreat with a smile. It was obvious that River was not exactly a social butterfly, which was okay. She would either come out of his shell in time or at least get used to the attention. In any case, it was his owner's responsibility to recognize the signs and know its limits. The pygmy puff most likely trusted Lucia to protect him and the Ye-jun was sure she would. “Alright, we'll figure out the best time and place where she might be most comfortable,” he paused there. “…other than your hair and see if I can be of any help. Admittedly I have more experience with regular animals but I was told I have a talent for magical creatures as well so we’ll see.”
It didn't take long after that for Lucia to ask if he had any pet of his own. It was only natural given the fact that he just offered helping with hers. “Well yes but not like you or Eun-ji.” He answered the question without much hesitation. “I have a dog at home. Welsh corgi called Henri and an old cat my mother found on the street called Madame Carmine. They don't come to school with me though. I don't know if I'll get one to bring with me to be honest. My father owns a vet clinic so we often house other people's animals at home as well and it seems unnecessary to bring another one to the mix.” Animals also got sick fairly often and after seeing so many sad goodbyes during the summers when he helped his father, the boy wasn't sure if he could go through all that with not two but three of his own pets. “I do miss having a furry companion during the school year though so who knows…maybe I’ll change my mind in the future.”
By now the fight that was going on in the background sounded far more intense. There were spells flying and everything. Ye-jun really didn’t feel like joining the fray and he sure as hell didn’t want Lucia to get caught in the crossfire. Frowning, the wizard picked up his meal box again. Some other students eventually started yelling at the group to stop and a lot of them did seem to be leaving but he still didn’t feel comfortable staying. “You wanna maybe move somewhere else? I got my own food if you are hungry. This place has gotten too messy for my taste…although I can’t say I’m surprised.” There was always someone who enjoyed causing an unnecessary scene. Nothing new.

@Eun-ji Lee Hunt as Lee Ye-jun
Lucia wasn't sure how far she empathised with the Beauxbatons students who would rather stay home than brave the trip to Hogwarts. On the one hand, she definitely had sympathy for a fear of heights (only the really high ones! Lucia was definitely absolutely okay with not-too-high heights. Just... just the really high ones) and didn't think she was very brave. But, wasn't Hogwarts worth showing a little bravery for? And you could maybe scoot away from the windows? Sometimes, though, the mere knowledge that Lucia were high up was enough to make Lucia - no, not Lucia, she didn't suffer from a fear of heights! - queasy. And she didn't want to argue with Ye-jun. "Understandable," she echoed.
It was indeed true that River liked to hide in Lucia's hair. It was one of the reasons (apart from it just looking good) that Lucia rarely tied her hair up, preferring to leave it loose and brush it regularly throughout the day to keep it from getting tangled. Her Comb of Vanity - silly name, since Lucia was definitely not vain (or so she told herself) - came in incredibly useful for that. What previously took ten minutes would now take one stroke with her magical comb. "Do you have magical creatures at Beauxbatons?" Lucia meant the subject but it could be interpreted as the animals themselves: after all, Hogwarts was full of magical creatures in the Great Lake and Forbidden Forest, not to mention the actual stables used for classes.
In fact, Lucia didn't know whether Beauxbatons even allowed non-magical animals in, since she'd never seen a foreign student bring their pet with them to Hogwarts. Ye-jun's pets stayed at home rather than go to school with him, so maybe it was just a Hogwarts thing to allow pets in. Just like it was a Hogwarts thing to let part-humans in. Lucia was starting to see a trend here... but no. From Ye-jun's last words, he did have the option to take a pet with him but decided against it. "That makes sense," Lucia nodded. "I didn't know your father was a vet." It had to take a great deal of courage to be a vet, Lucia thought. It was surely a little like being a doctor, except that your patients did not want to be there. "What pet would you want, if you got another one?"
There were a few moments of silence as Lucia ate her food and tried not to listen to the sound of a fight in the background. Maybe if she ignored it, it would slowly fizzle out? But Ye-jun didn't seem to agree, and suggested that they leave. "I promise it's not always like this." Lucia felt obligated to defend her school - while it was true that altercations occasionally broke out, it didn't happen often and she didn't want Ye-jun thinking all Hogwarts did was fight. "I'll just finish this, quickly..." There wasn't a lot left on her plate - Lucia hadn't given herself very much to start with - but Ebony had taught her never to waste food so she took her final few bites as quickly as was polite before standing up. "Oh - do you want some hot chocolate?" Lucia wasn't entirely sure on the rules of taking crockery out of the Great Hall or kitchen, but she was sure that as long as she returned it later she'd be okay, so she found a mug and poured herself some. If Ye-jun answered positively, she'd pour him some as well and keep ahold of both mugs (Ye-jun already had something to carry, after all). "Shall we go?"
