Kierce was almost at the table, about to round the bookshelf corner when he heard what the other boy had said, “Hey, it’s uh… alright really, trust me I do it a lot too. I guess I’m uh… not really used to talking to other people either to be fair. I mean, besides like my dad but I don’t think he really counts.” Wren smiled, Kierce knew Wren was trying to be nice but, Kierce wasn't the kind of person that tried to take pity from someone. I gave a smile "Yeah just wanted to apologize since it's a little rude of me to speak out like that. Maybe it's cause I didn't get the coffee I mentioned" he was trying to be humorous and serious about saying that last part. "If I start saying sorry to much please tell me though, my parents say I need to stop apologizing for things I can't control and things like that."

he walked over to the table where he had put his book and set Cyprus on the armchair next to it. I can't talk to people for the life of me. No you can't . He sighed, thinking of a topic that both he and Wren would be interested in while they read their books. He picked up Cyprus again Why did I put her there again?and sat down crossing his legs. I wish I could listen to music you know, I've learned at hogwarts that life is really boring without somethings, it makes you miss daily life as a common person. Kierce thought this was a interesting enough topic. He put Cyprus on the table, making sure to see to it that she couldn't easily get over to where Wren was, and opened his book. " You ever miss regular life Wren, like hearing music on the radio, cooking, and seeing your family? I know it's fun here and it's entirely knew world but, I kinda miss the normal things... Kierce's voice was soft in quiet, he didn't even know if Wren heard his question. I turned the page.

Wren nodded slightly to what Kierce said, making sure to take note of what he said. He understood far too well when it came to over apologizing, he had definitely gotten better at not doing it but every now and then he would slip back into it. He followed the tall blond to the table mentioned and carefully placed the books on it. He spread them out slightly, lining them up next to each other before he sat down. He watched Kierce set Cyprus down, the spider seemingly to have no interest.

They sat there for a while and Wren opened the copy of Fantastic Beasts, settling down to read. Flipping through the pages with one hand and tapping the table ever so slightly with his other, he soon got relatively lost in thought. The outside world and everything around him almost became quieter as he got lost in the pages of the book. That was until Kierce broke the silence to ask him a question. It took him a minute to think about what Kierce had said, partly because he hadn’t completely been paying attention but was able to piece it together.

While Hogwarts and the whole magical world were definitely exciting and full of wonder, there were definitely things about the non-wizarding world he missed. He missed his home and the familiarity of it all, he had never particularly been one for change. “I do miss being at home, this is all super amazing but, it’s um… pretty overwhelming. I miss my house, my dad, my garden, all of it to be fair. It would definitely be nice to listen to the radio again or any music I’m used to, to be completely honest but…”

He closed his book, tapping his fingers to help him think carefully about what he was going to say. “There’s not really anything I can do about it though, this is my life now and I guess I have to accept that. Even if it’s really hard too, not much I can really do.” He sighed, pushing his hair away from his eyes and tracing the lettering of the book he had been reading. He was homesick, no matter how hard he tried to convince himself that he wasn’t or that there was no point in feeling that way, he couldn’t help it.

I continued to flip through my book, it was interesting so far. His favorite thing he had seen was the sketch of the Norwegian Ridgeback, it just seemed so interesting how even in the book he could imagine the height of the dragon just by the picture.I wish I could study everything the wizarding world has to offer but I don't have the time to do so. Or the energy. Ot would be fun to see a a dragon though, but if I ever saw a dragon it would probably be the end of me. He smiled thinking about meeting a dragon (assuming that said dragon would let him live long enough to see it anyways).

It had been a moment since Kierce had asked his question, Kierce was too engrossed in his book to notice this until he heard the boy beside him speak “I do miss being at home, this is all super amazing but, it’s um… pretty overwhelming. I miss my house, my dad, my garden, all of it to be fair. It would definitely be nice to listen to the radio again or any music I’m used to, to be completely honest but…” I nodded, not really having anything to say. I assumed he probably had more to say, because of his long pause at the end. There was a few seconds of silence before Wren said “There’s not really anything I can do about it though, this is my life now and I guess I have to accept that. Even if it’s really hard too, not much I can really do.”

Kierce nodded "Maybe over time we'll get used to it. Sure some things won't be the same but on our summers we can enjoy the little things like radios, online shopping, and letters that aren't carried by vicious birds. and in the meantime when it's the school year we'll just have to get used to it for seven long years." I replied trying to lighten up the conversation. Truth was I was worried I'd never really been gone away from my family like this and it made me more of a nervous wreck than usual. I smile " In the wise words of John C. Maxwell, 'Change is inevitable. Growth is optional.' Sure our lives may change but it's truly how adapt and grow to that change that will help us in life.". I didn't even know I could be that philosophical, let alone be philosophical while talking to someone. I looked away from Wren and continued my book.

Wren went to open his book again when he heard Kierce answer back and nodded slightly to what the boy had to say. They wouldn’t be here forever and it was true, they would go back home during the summer and he believed they were allowed to go back home for the holidays so it’s not like they would be here for their whole lives. Eventually, they would graduate and leave the school, of course, that would be quite a while from now but it would still happen eventually. It was better for them to accept this now rather than later, dwelling on things usually didn’t end well. At least, in his experience it never did, not that it ever stopped him but what could one do really? The mind was a powerful and strange thing.

Almost missing what Kierce said next, Wren was able to catch most of it and piece the rest together. A rather philosophical way of thinking, but not wrong. The world was an ever-changing thing and if one did not take the leap and move with it, one would never learn to fly. Of course, this was just what he believed but there was some truth to the matter. It’s not like he could fly, well he supposed now he could learn to fly actually with the whole thing of magic now. There were literally flying brooms so the idea of actually flying was not quite as ridiculous as it once had been. It wasn’t like having a pair of wings and being a bird flying but it still counted as flying.

Knowing better than to continue these said thoughts though, mostly for the worry of digging into a hole he would be unable to escape from. He went back to reading his book, deciding that if his thoughts were to lead them anywhere when it came to flying, perhaps it would be better just to look at creatures that could actually fly. This, of course, once again leading him to a whole new set of questions but luckily these had a better chance of being answered compared to the more philosophical ones or the ones where the answers were more open to interpretation.

Kierce continued his book, well until he got bored. Kierce doesn't have a short attention span or anything like that he just gets sick of reading the same things over and over again. I sped through the book skimming through it looking at the diagrams of every dragon and pausing when I came across something interesting. I eventually got to end of it in around thirty minutes. Now what do I do? How should I know? I don't know I just thought you would, I guess I could go look for a more interesting book.

I get up and leave Cyprus on the table since I was pretty sure she was asleep, then I walk over to the section where I had found the book and put it back. I wander around for a while looking for something that could keep me captivated for a while Does the wizarding world even have action books or are they all diagrams and history? I thought bitterly. Kierce didn't hate diagrams or history or anything else scientific, in fact he loved it, but he just disliked the fact that there seemed to be nothing else here other than those books.

Cyprus had woken up since the time Kierce had gone off, which was around ten minutes. She skittered around the table looking for Kierce or maybe just something to get into now that he was gone. She crawled down the table and onto the floor. Cyprus darted across the floor, not really knowing where to go without Kierce. The spider was obviously annoyed by now, and was bored out of her mind. It was clear she wasn't going to let anyone pick her up until she was in a better mood or until she found Kierce.

Meanwhile, Kierce had traveled far enough into the library to get lost, which he was. He didn't notice this as he was too busy trying to find a good book.

Wren continued flipping through the pages of his book, studying and analyzing every page to make sure he got the information down. At one point, he had even opened one of the others and started going back and forth between the two. He wasn’t sure why but he did, even if it really made no sense whatsoever. On and on it went until he felt movement, he looked up slightly to see Kierce get up and walk away with his book. He glanced over to see Cyprus still there so he figured that he had just gone to find another book. Wren turned back to his books and started reading again.

After some time passed, Wren realized that Kierce had still not returned. Of course, the library was pretty big so it was understandable but Wren was slightly concerned about Cyprus. As he thought this, his eyes caught Cyprus just as she started to move. She had been rather still up until this point but, he supposed even the spider was bound to get a little bored. Figuring that she would probably not move too much though he went to turn back to his books, once again, when he saw the rather large Spider crawl towards the end of the table and then right off. Very concerned and worried, he quickly closed his books and looked to see where the spider had run off to.

He soon caught sight of her and quickly made sure that she stayed in his sight. From the way she was moving, he figured she was probably looking for Kierce or at least something to do and Wren wasn’t exactly sure what to do in this situation himself. Cyprus was pretty big and seemed to be rather sturdy but he didn’t really want someone to come along and accidentally step on her or for her to get lost. He especially didn’t want to explain to the boy he just met how those things happened. Rather frantically he looked around, trying to see if he could see Kierce but wasn’t having much luck. For as tall as the boy was, he was surprisingly hard to find.

Usually, if it had been in his house, he would have gotten a piece of paper and a cup to pick up a spider and safely bring it outside, but this situation was vastly different from those. That’s when he had a thought, not a particularly good thought but a thought nonetheless. He could attempt to pick her up, of course, but that probably wouldn’t end so well for him, and given what Kierce had said earlier, figured she probably wasn’t a big fan of strangers or anyone besides Kierce himself. Against his better judgement though, he carefully crouched down so he was closer to Cyprus. “This is probably one of the worst ideas you’ve ever had,” he said quietly under his breath, sighing slightly as he slowly put his hands out together towards Cyprus.

Keeping far away enough so if she was grumpy he could possibly get away fast enough but close enough so maybe he could get her attention. “Hello there Cyprus, it’s nice to meet you. I don’t mean you any harm now I just want to help you find your buddy, Kierce. I swear I won’t harm you at all, I really just want to help you out, I promise." Nervous but determined to help, he kept his hands there, hoping this wouldn’t lead to somewhere rather painful.

I had somehow gotten to one of the higher shelves in the library and gotten down around three books . One was about how wizards viewed muggles, The Philosophy of the Mundane was it? A green covered book called Animal Ghosts of Britain, and a light blue covered book that I can't remember the name of. That's when I realized I have no idea where I went in the library I can't even remember the direction I came from. I look around assuming I might remember where I was in the library. Kierce knew it wasn't the best choice at the time but he got his books and began to wander around aimlessly, which got him more lost.

Cyprus was agitated now since Kierce still hadn't returned. She still was trying to wander around when she noticed a shadow over her, then she could feel the vibrations of whatever it was there. She decided to get closer to the thing, when Cyprus saw the thing was a human. The human put down their hand, which made Cyprus walk slowly back making a hissing sound. She was never fond of people, she looked at the person and saw it was the same person she and Kierce had been with. Cyprus saw his mouth was moving but as tarantulas were deaf couldn't understand the person.

Cyprus had to assume that whoever this is was someone Kierce knew and trusted, after all Kierce didn't talk to many people. Still making the hissing sound (This is called stridulation and made by the tarantula rubbing their legs together) she gave a small threat pose before reluctantly climbing onto the person's hand. Although she still continued to hiss though letting the person know he better not do anything otherwise, there would be consequences.

Kierce was getting more lost by the second, he tried not to panic but that wasn't going well. "You'd think that someone couldn't get lost in a library, but here I am. It's pathetic really" he continued to talk to himself as he wandered every so often pausing to read one of the books he had gotten.

He waited for a short time, hoping he at least got her attention. She moved slightly closer but then quickly moved back and started hissing at him. He held his breath slightly, very nervous at this point but determined to help. He stayed exactly where he was and didn’t move, at one point it’s possible he also forgot to breathe but he wasn’t sure. He waited while she continued to hiss and attempt to threaten him, which was definitely working, until she moved forward toward his hands. He prepared to snatch his hands back, but surprisingly, she walked into his hands, still hissing of course but at least step one had somehow worked.

Very carefully he stood up, making sure his hands stayed as still as they possibly could while he held Cyprus. He hadn’t actually expected his plan to work but it definitely made things slightly easier, or at least, he hoped it would make things easier. He could definitely tell by Cyprus still hissing that she was about as big a fan of this plan as he was. Nonetheless, he was determined to find Kierce and reunite Cyprus with him, hopefully avoiding any painful parts.

With a deep breath, he took his eyes off Cyprus and started looking around the library for the tall blonde. Still absolutely no sign of him, he decided the next best course of action would be to head in the direction he remembered seeing Kierce go. He just hoped he wouldn’t get lost, the library wasn’t exactly small. Very slowly and carefully though, he began walking with Cyprus keeping his eyes open for any sign of Kierce. Hopefully, he would be able to find Kierce before Cyprus decided she had enough.

He walked through the rows and rows of bookshelves, making sure to look around every corner and nook to make sure he didn’t miss Kierce. For as tall as the boy was, he was surprisingly hard to find. Although, there were a lot of books and the shelves for them were crazy tall as well so he supposed this was to be expected. He made sure not to make any sudden movements to upset Cyrpus anymore than she already seemed to be, keeping his hands as still as he physically could which was rather hard given his position. Determined to find Kierce though, he continued his search into the maze that was the library.

Cyprus was getting nervous, tapping her legs and moving around from time to time. She was still annoyed though she no longer hissed at Wren. She was more worried than angry now looking around wondering where this strange person was taking her. She didn't really like this much, but she put up with it. As the person walked she could feel the vibrations of Wrens footsteps. Cyprus was getting tired of being on Wrens hand and tried to crawl down and find Kierce herself.

I continued to wander around since, I had anything better to do, his best chance was to find a map but who would map out the library? I'm trying my best not to panic, that's easier said than done though. "So what kind of idiot gets lost in a library? who, oh yeah the person standing right here." I mutter random things as I try to find my way around noticing the books I passed memorizing the titles and hoping they were sorted well. Kierce heard something a bit farther away, it sounded like footsteps but what did he know? He may as well be hallucinating the sound.

Kierce walked toward the sounds hoping that it wasn't a hallucination and by some miracle it had only been ten minutes. He also hoped Cyprus was still asleep or at least awake and not causing trouble. He knew that last one was a long shot because of Cyprus's personality. Really hope I'm not hallucinating, also if it's not a hallucination please don't be a murder or something. There I went again always thinking of the worst possible out comes. I continue to walk in the direction of footsteps until I'm sure that the person there is just around the bookshelf. I turn the corner and see Wren. I looked at him and then looked at something that was in his hand "Are you okay?" my voice was louder than expected and I had directed the question toward Wren as he was the one holding the anger-prone spider, I look around and then say "Also do you know the way out of here" I looked at Wren and gave an optimistic smile filled with the hope that he knew how to get out of this labyrinth.

Wren had been wandering around the library for some time now and he was starting to get worried. Not only had he still not found Kierce but Cyprus was getting antsy again. She kept walking around his hands, which definitely wasn’t helping his nerves. On the bright side though, at least she had stopped hissing at him which helped slightly. His pace quickened as he started looking around, surely he had to be at least somewhat closer to finding Kierce. Then again though, the library was huge so the boy could be literally anywhere.

Stopping for a second, he decided to look around to make sure he knew where he currently was. Even if he hadn’t found Kierce yet, he at least knew how to get back to where he had been. He may have always been kinda clumsy but at least his sense of direction and memory were somewhat decent. At one point, he swore he could have heard footsteps but had quickly lost them. Cyprus, at this point, seemed to finally have enough at started heading to get out of his hands. “Cyprus wait,” as he said this, he heard a familiar voice and turned around to see Kierce standing there.

He breathed a slight sigh of relief and it appeared the tall blonde felt the same way. Yeah uh… I’m fine. I think Cyprus was getting pretty worried for you though. And was at her limit with me um…,” he smiled slightly, happy that this hadn’t all been for nothing as he lifted his hands with Cyprus towards the boy in front of him. “And yeah, I luckily know the way back. Or at least I'm like ninety-percent sure I know the way back, I uh… kinda had to rush.” He nodded towards Cyrpus, sort of signaling that she had just about had enough.
