The House of Winter
Like any child brought up in the muggle world, an adjustment to magic was not an easy task. The skills you develop in your early years serve little use outside the physical development. Understanding that a piece of wood was to provide instant gratification could be speculated amongst behavior specialists as an unhealthy reliance for a child. Perhaps it was only fair it is not easy, nor automatic. The flick of a wrist could offer such conveniences as washing your dishes, or doing your laundry. Though the execution of these spells required study, and repetition. Which instilling these habits was the true purpose of any school. At this age, it is not so much about the finish product of your studies, just the completion.
Both lacking heavily for Thomas Lestrange, a handful of inconsistent school years left him far behind the peers he sorted with in the fall of 2018. Enter Opeila Winters, formally Seilun. Who Thomas had the...displeasure of meeting with a pillow to the face in this very room. Yet her redemption arrived when she provided empathy for Erin Ryan's aggressive tape attacks in her organized dorm battles in years past. Since, the boy respected her ability to organize events, and serve as a social beacon for their house.
Leading to a look of no surprise when he witnessed the badge he once wore now pinned atop her robes. Further enabling the inquisitive nose of Winters, who experienced the chill of the lake when pushing Thomas too far. Yet no intention of revenge ever came, leaving the boy dull in any resentment towards her. Hoping her stance was much the same, and this tutor session was not an opportunity for revenge. Either way, the boy highly doubted he would ever relive the day of tumbling bookcases with Erin and Howard. A day he now remembered with ambivalent fondness.
Collecting the essential items for study, Thomas carried a bag into the library, situating himself at an empty table. Having not changed much in height or weight, Winters should have no trouble recognizing him upon her entrance. Opening his bag, Thomas placed "The Invisible Book of Invisibility" across him as a simple jest. Pulling other books mandatory to third year curriculum, awaiting Opeila's suggested starting point.

The House of Winter
@Thomas Lestrange
Opeila had not spent many thoughts on Thomas Lestrange since his departure, leaving her strangely surprised at the reminder of his existence when he suddenly appeared again. Somehow his leaving had made her almost entirely forget about him. Perhaps part of the reason was a desire to forget- most of the times when the fourth year had met the older student, it had ended with some kind of disaster.
But the time he had pushed her into the lake in early spring had grown into a faint memory, as had the incident during the common room lockdown, that now filled her with something she came close to second hand embarrassment. As if her past actions belonged to a different person.
When word had reached her that he was in need of assistance with his studies, she had agreed without a second thought. As a prefect that was only the right thing for her to do, right? Besides, she was curious who he had become in the last years.
Not much time had passed since her coma and yet her behavior had changed significantly. The day after her waking up, Opeila went to the fall ball, feeling overjoyed that she was awake. All the terrible events had seemed so far away, so unimportant. Well, until the reminder of them were forced into her mind again, in form of a goblet that transformed into a spider, an apple pie that was spiked with... some kind of potion, she was sure, and a note attached to a box with a necklace.
The same necklace that now pressed into the skin of her chest, hidden by her top. Opeila had worn it every single day since it was delivered to her, silencing the doubtful voice in her mind. Opeila knew that it wasn't right or healthy what she was doing and yet she couldn't deny herself the sense of peace it brought her.
After the ball, Opeila had become quieter. Still greeted all of her friends, genuinely happy to see them, but not as enthusiastic or emotional as she had been before.
Who had watched her more closely over time would have noticed the little peculiarities in her behavior. Often her fingers were fiddling around with the silver chain around her neck, never pulling the charm attached to it out from underneath her top. In conversations with others, her reactions were delayed every now and then. And sometimes, in the most random moments, the brunette just zoned out, as if her thoughts required all attention she could give, staring at a point in the room until she was pulled out of it.
It was better than the always returning nightmares though. Opeila started the days better rested than she used to, enjoyed the daily jogs with Flash just like she used to. She would happily choose her current state of mind over what it had been before, even if she sometimes felt as though she was walking through a dream.
The walk to the library seemed to pass with the blink of an eye and suddenly she stood before him- no, almost walked past him, more likely- and sat down her bag. "Hi.", she would greet her housemate, a bit unsure what the tone was or should be in their conversation. "How are you doing?"
Opeila pulled over another chair for her to sit on, then picked up her bag again to pull out multiple books. Transfiguration, History, Astronomy and Ancient Runes. The subjects she found the most difficult to keep up with sometimes, she had no idea if it was the same with Thomas. She didn't even know if he was doing Ancient Runes actually.
