Two more teammates were out. Stanley felt like they were dropping like flies! Nothing seemed to be going right other than the two goals Ethen had just scored. If the time came, Stan really did not want to have the pressure on him with so little teammates to back him up. The boy could only pray either seeker would catch the snitch sooner rather than later so everything could be over.

Pax watched as Marshal successfully managed to knock Avery from her broom, and in the same sort of spirit, sent the bludgers flying towards Serena and Avery on their shared broom, slightly grinning as they tumbled. Quidditch was ruthless, and that was something they'd quickly gotten used to.

Cheering on everyone else, they quickly yelled out some encouragement. "Doing good, lions! Keep it up!"

Gryffindor vs Hufflepuff 2022

With Haley safely returned to her broom, Finnegan returned to his previous position high above the pitch, his eyes searching the field for any calamities. With every passing minute there were fewer players left in the air and the odds that they could pull a win, which had seemed so unlikely at first, were improving each moment.

It was getting harder as the game went on. More quaffle points scored but at what cost? Badgers were falling from the sky left and right. Annie knew her team wasn't weak but what the hell was the Gryffindor team doing do completely obliterate them, especially this quickly. It would have to be one of the quickest games of Quidditch Annie had ever sat through, all the while her knee bounced up and down with nerves. How would they pull off a win at this rate? She grit her teeth, hating to think that way but it appeared luck and favor was not on their side today. Rising to her feet, she'd feel the bench behind her and stand up on it, giving herself some height before cupping her hands together to yell into the wind with a strained voice.

"We might be outnumbered but we aren't out spirited, give it everything that you have left! Nothing less than one hundred and ten percent, c'mon Badgers!"

With the snitch now locked in sight, Ethen knew that things would only become more heated from both sides. Spotting the snitch was always a double-edged blade. It brought them closer to winning...but it also made just about everyone try and knock him from his broom. So making sure to keep moving was paramount. But idly chasing the snitch without being in the proper range didn't seem to be the best use of his time.

Keeping the snitch locked in his gaze, Ethen moved to also try and put up a few points for his team. Already they were having success in building a substantial lead and this could be a good way to increase it further. The plan yielded immediate success as he got his hands on the quaffle for the first time in any of his games. It was a much easier ball to procure than the fickle snitch. While keeping the snitch in his peripheral vision, Ethen was able to find success with two scoring attempts that brought a wide smile to his face. He now understood some of the excitement Atlas always seemed to have when she snuck away from her position to steal a few scores. The extra points were helpful but he knew he still had a difficult task at hand as the little golden orb remained on his mind.

Returning to her post after her little vacation scoring points, Atlas kept her focus on the quaffle as it reentered the play. With the points pulling away, Atlas assumed that the other team would take their chances now to try and put up at least a few scores and it didn't take long for her to be proven correct.

Cracking her neck on the approach of the other team, Atlas redied herself for a last second defense. She knew her positioning was good and she believed she could anticipate their shots. Acting fast, Atlas was able to bat away two attempts with relative ease. However, she still cursed herself as she was just a hair late in blocking one of their points. Only allowing one score wasn't bad but Atlas was still hard on herself, reminding herself that she can do better. But that didn't stop her from letting out loud cheers as she watched her boyfriend of all people score a couple of points for their team. More importantly, their seeker was still in play despite the heavy casualties they were already beginning to take.

Keepers Catch
10% chance to automatically block an attempt to score a goal as long as the Keeper is in the goal area. If an attempt to score has been blocked through this effect, the Keeper may as a free action hurl the quaffle at the opponent team in an attempt to injure a player of their choice (it would be recovered with a quaffle grab action) and treated like a bludger or pass the quaffle to a team mate. This must be declared by the Keeper if either of these free actions are to be utilized.

Evasive Maneuvers
Harder to hit on average, 10% on auto-dodge chance that anything that targets this wizard automatically misses. This is rolled separate from the attack roll.

Another Badger bites the dust. Two, to be exact, as both Marshal and Pax’s blows found their quarry.
Hazel eyes would follow the pair’s unhindered descent, crinkling slightly at the corners in a wince as they made their acquaintance with the dirt. The lion couldn’t say himself and the ground knew each other terribly well, given his tendency to dole out punishment in these matches, rather than take it.

The wince would quickly morph back into determination manifest, however, as the beater turned resolutely to his next task.

Akari groaned as she missed her target yet again, resulting in yet another penalty. What was up with her today? This was not going the way she had planned. She needed to get out of her head and back in the game as soon as possible. She could not let her team down, she just could not.

Not so nearly unsettled as outmaneuvered, Finnegan wouldn't be up to the challenge as Howard yoinks all five quaffles for team Hufflepuff right from under his nose. The posts unguarded, Akari now on the longest penalty lap taken this game, Howard would have no obstacles left between him and scoring. Giving a solid cheer from the stands worthy of a comeback, house Hufflepuff was still intent on taking the game, even if Finnegan and team Gryffindor were the real underdogs tonight.

Perhaps due to his wounds, or because of his pattern of thought, Marshal would miss his opportunity to shoot as he watched Howard score. Pax would take up the mantle of responsibility, sending a fearsome blow Ethen's way as he dove for the snitch. The rib-seeking-missile wouldn't knock the seeker from the sky but its ricochet would remind him and Howard both to keep an eye out as Haley's blatch found Atlas out of position to be saved. "Penalty for the chaser!" Now let's see how they respond to another Hufflepuff on the posts!

Spiraling, the two seekers would become intimately close for far too long. Ethen would be the first to pull off, the now uncomfortable pressure in his chest helping to keep him lucid as he flew. Elena too would be forced to stop her spiral before reaching the ground, the snitch adjusting its approach far too fast for her to keep up without a crash landing. The game nearly coming to a close, Gryffindor would have one more chance to win and Hufflepuff another opportunity to strangle out their hopes.
