A cool breeze drifted through the air, meeting all it touched with a cold kiss of freezing freshness. Edward pulled his dusty-brown coat closer, and crossed his arms to try and push away the cold, he loved how it numbed his face so that he couldn't feel it anymore. The sky was still a dim gray, the sun had not risen all the way into the sky yet, Edward found it to be a perfect time to catch up with his reading. He had only learned of the Magical Newspapers a few months prior, he loved them! He loved how the pictures on the pages would move, a to mesmerize it's reader into another worldly trance... Or maybe that was just Edward, he had accidently forgotten to read the Hogwarts Headliner, Issue #20. He was looking forward to it with the upmost excitement. He thought it would be nice to go outside to read, he found it too stuffy inside and enjoyed the crisp cool air of autumn. His combat boots made a satisfying CRUNCH! as he stepped on the dried leaves that had fallen from the tree. It was clear that winter would be soon, Edward dusted off the second-to-bottom step and sat opening the newspaper with a quiet CRINKLE! The first page was about the Hexwizard tournament, Edward had been meaning to go... As a spectator of course, he couldn't believe what he read, Angélique Colette de Clairmontt, the leader of the Beauxbatons had gotten sick with dragonpox causing her to have to dropout of the tournament. Poor Dear, he could practically hear his mother say. There was other full pages all about the different competitors that were partaking on the Hexwizard Tournament, he recognize the name @Serena Towers, he was sure that she had her own portion in the newspaper somewhere that he had heard so before. As he flipped through the book he hadn't noticed another student was nearby...

Irina was feeling full of energy this morning, the young Slytherin wake up not even the sun had risen into the horizon. She looked at the window on her dorm, letting herself get awaken slowly by the visions of the bottom lake. The seaweed swayed in a slow dance made by the lake's current. The light that came through it was faint and greenish what told her that probably was cold and cloudy outside. But that realisation doesn’t stopped her from getting up from her warm bed, she desperately needed to go for a run or some kind of exercise. The numbness she felt from passing all week looking and searching through books and making homework made her jump from her bed, grab her black train leggings and her white hoodie and walked out of the castle to the courtyard. She was heading towards the grounds and the Great Lake, but her attention was caught out by someone seated there at the dusty stairs. He was wearing a brown coat and had brown hair, she could only see his back but doesn’t seemed to be someone she had already met. Getting closer to the boy she noticed he was reading a newspaper, picking over his shoulder she could read the title from the headline: “ BEAUXBATONS CHANGES THEIR CHAMPION”, “Oh! So it’s true! She really got sick and had to be replaced huh?” She smiled at the boy hoping she hadn’t startled him with her sudden arrival, “that’s sad isn’t it?” She asked quietly while sitting next to him. Stretching her had towards the boy she introduced herself, “Morning! I’m Irina Sousa, Nice to meet you!” She said smiling kindly to him, “Do you mind to share your newspaper with me? I didn’t got mine yet!”

“Oh! So it’s true! She really got sick and had to be replaced huh?” A voice came from over his shoulder, close to his ear. Edward jolted, turning around to a beautiful girl who's smiling face was framed with her long curly hair and hazel eyes. Edward was still in a small shock.
“That’s sad isn’t it?” The average sized girl said quietly taking a seat next to him, he towered over her by a couple inches.
"Yeah it is... Hope they can do it..." He said almost inaudibly looking at her to his newspaper with his large curious eyes.
“Morning! I’m Irina Sousa, Nice to meet you!” She said smiling kindly to him, sticking out her hand, Edward gladly excepted.
"Edward Edwards, pleased to make your acquaintance Irina," He smiled revealing the small gap between his large two front teeth, strange yet charming. He continued to chew on his gum that he had been chewing since he woke up, he decided to skip breakfast, he needed as much outdoors as he could get with all this rain weather.
“Do you mind to share your newspaper with me? I didn’t get mine yet!”
"Uh, yeah of course," He said in his American accent, he adjusted his sitting position and the newspaper so they both could read. He was now on page 06 of the issue, titled Happy Halloween. Edward found the topic quite interesting, the origin of Halloween and how far it's come, it reminded him much of the true story of the Mad Hatter.
"Huh, curiouser and curiouser..." he said quietly as they read.
"What do you think about that?" Edward said directing his attention to Irina.

Maybe she should have made herself noticed sooner because, judging by the boy's expression of surprise, she just had startled him. Oops! She thought a little embarrassed, however, she tried to hide this feeling and continued to talk to him. He said to her, in an american accent she noticed, that his name was Edward and return the smile she gave him, she felt relief that he wasn't bothered by her sudden approach. She also thought the brunette boy had a friendly and cute smile, which helped her feel welcome to join him sitting on the stairs.

She was glad he'd agreed to share his newspaper reading with her, she was really curious about it, once was the first time she had heard about the "Hogwarts Headliner" and one thing she always liked was to read the news with her father. Back home, Daniel Sousa had always encouraged her to read about what's happening in the world, "Knowledge is the most important tool in our lives.", he use to say. They were reading about the origin of Halloween and Edward asked her what she thought about it, "I love Halloween how is celebrated here and...you're american, right?" she asked looking back at the boy, curiosity could be read on her face,"and in america! But despite being born and raised here, my family came from different traditions. On my dad side, they celebrate the All Saints Day that could also be called All Souls Day. They take the trick out of it, and celebrate on the morning of November 1st. On mother's side they celebrate the St. Martin's Day at November 11th. On that day, children walk through their neighborhood with lanterns while singing songs and reciting poems in exchange for treats. So you see, I'm full of Halloween traditions, it's almost like Christmas to me!" she said with a small laugh looking at the boy's dark eyes. "What about you? Do you like Halloween? You said...curiouser and curiouser..." she said trying to mimic Edwards accent and mannerisms, "what do you think is so curious about it? Perhaps you don't know what a movie is?" she asked with a cheeky smile.

Edward gasped dramatically, not know what a movie is? That's madness! Then he though again, a lot of people at hogwarts didn't know what a movie was. Including his best friend @Beatrice Dupont, but he changed that, and for the better!
"I find it curious how big one's beliefs can be and how much it can affect the world we live in, how history still finds a way to prevail... Its so curious how children and adults alike on this specific day wore costumes to ward evil spirits away.... How... How... Much its changed, now its mostly about commercialism... But I like it anyway! Its just curious how things evolve over time you know?" He realised he had just ranted for a while, he wiped off his nose that was running from the cold without thinking about it. "That's cool though...-" He smiled once again thinking of all the things she had told him. "How do you feel towards Christmas then?"

Irina looked at Edward trying to decipher his reaction to the current of words that left her, probably he made a simple question and just wanted a simple answer, not a short story of her life, she realized that she was particularly talkative that morning. "Wow," Edward laughed quietly, not a bad reaction she supposed, maybe he'd liked all that information...so she got curious about his own opinion about the Halloween and returned the same question to him, thinking that she didn't knew anything about his background he could possibly came from a pure-blood wizarding family and knew nothing about cinema or movies...she knew if it was her case she would be curious about it...but from his reaction Irina realized that wasn't his case. Its just curious how things evolve over time you know?" His words caught her a little by surprise, she never thought about it that way, but it actually makes sense, things naturally change but there's always a way to find its origins, like crumbs left behind that, if one is determined enough, will always find the source of every history or story. Her thoughts went to the Dark Forest and to her grandmother Greta, a sour feeling started to take its place on her heart but she got interrupted by Edward's words again, "That's cool though...-" he was smiling at her and that had a blessing effect on her, the pressure she started to felt on her chest dissipated and a genuine smile returned again to her face, "How do you feel towards Christmas then?" he asked her then, "Oh Christmas! I love e.v.e.ry.thing about it! The decorations on the streets, at home, my grandma Maria's cakes and desserts that are the best treats you would ever taste!" She gave a small laugh a glint in her eyes when remembering her sweet grandmother, "then the spirit, you know? The Christmas spirit of union and love! Of course if you want to talk about commercialism and true story behind it...well, people spend to much for that day I recognize, we don't need so many material things to celebrate family, friendship and to show how much we care for people that are important to you! About the true story behind it...it's really complex and full of tales and different beliefs, I suppose!" with her elbow on one knee and resting her face on her hand she turned playfully to the boy next to her, "I'm betting you also have an opinion about it?" glancing at the newspaper's next page she added, "Or do you want to talk about the Horoscope?" she gave a little giggle, she didn't really believe in zodiac signs, but she always had fun reading their predictions.

She took a gander at the newspaper's next page and added, "Or do you want to talk about the Horoscope?" she let out a small giggle, which received a chuckle from Edward.
"My favorite thing to do during Christmas-time is too bake ginger-bread cookies," He smiled at her continuing to chew away at his gum, it obviously lost it's flavor by now but he didn't care. He looked back at the page filled with horoscopes, Edward believed in a lot of things but horoscopes wasn't one of them... He believed the stars held many secrets, and that if they aligned in certain ways it could change what happened on earth, considering how much power the sun had over the earth, what's to say the stars didn't have the same? He believed that fate was not something one decided, but a journey where they had to choose right or wrong. No one was either good or bad but a little bit of both... Not blue or red, but a odd purple...
"I'm not much of a horoscopes person..." He blew a small bubble with his gum, "But I guess we could read it for fun... I'm a Aquarius... What about you?"
He moved his finger along the page until he landed on the large bolded words, AQUARIUS. He took a deep breath in,
Aquarians should find benefits in October. You should have a huge opportunity for advancement in your career, although whether or not you will take that opportunity is up to you. You should feel closer to your family, and your love life should improve, too. Monetarily, you’ll find opportunities to either increase your income or to better arrange your assets.
"Not bad..." Edward mumbled underneath his breath.
"What about you?" he said looking towards the dark haired girl.

Well... for two people who don't believe or trust the zodiac signs to make decisions or have some kind of expectation for their lives, let's say... that's a coincidence and the other is that they were both Aquarius! “I’m also an Aquarius!” She answered softly smiling at him, “where did you get your gum? I need to ask my dad to send me some in his next owl!” She giggled following with her eyes his finger while also searching for where was the information about Aquarius.

You should feel closer to your family, and your love life should improve, too. Monetarily, you’ll find opportunities to either increase your income or to better arrange your assets.
"Not bad..." she hear Edward comment, “What about you?" he said looking at her. She found his gaze with her eyes and then looked back at the newspaper, “ah…” she breathed out, “yes! Is not bad! I mean…it’s basic isn’t it? You’ll find success in your career if you make the right effort…about family and love, is good to know that we would find it in a particularly closer way…” here she couldn’t avoid making an expression revealing that she doubted that to happen, “Aaaand we will not getting into poverty too! So I must agree with you, it’s not bad!” She said looking back at the boy's dark eyes.

She then looked at the courtyard stretching her legs and arms, feeling her limbs a little numb from being in a seated position for so long. Looking at the sky, the sun was now shily appearing, and Irina felt the need to get up and went for her morning walk towards the grounds or the Great Lake, "Do you want to join me? I'm going for a walk, I need to catch some air and make some exercise, I have this problem...I can't stay still for long!" she made a timid smile at Edward, "But it's ok if you don't want to, it was really nice talking and getting to know you Edward!" she added looking at him and waiting for his answer.

"You too Irina, yeah I don't like staying in one spot too long, I've gotten in trouble for it before... I actually should get going, I have to get ready for school, you see later, yeah?"
He smiled sweetly at her before he closed his newspaper standing up, offering a hand to help her up. He gave her a quick salute before walking away disappearing into the grand Castle of Hogwarts. He hoped that they would run into each other once again another day.
