I’ve read the books but haven’t watched it yet -if anyone has, let me know what you thought of it! Although at the same time I'm wondering why they made her so pretty to begin with, as the book's character is supposed to start off ugly and turn pretty afterward. But damn, she looks so nice from the very start!! Imo she's like a model! Has anyone seen the movie yet? And have any of you read the book? If you've seen the movie and read the book, what did you guys think of the movie vs the book? Did it do the book justice or was it really really different from the book?

Yeah it looks like it could be fun from the trailer but I don't want to watch it until I've finished the book. I'm around a little over 1/2 way through the book, like I'm 3/4 done with it. So I should be done with it sometime this week which means I'll have watched the movie sometime this week too. XD

i really don't mind about agatha being black in the movie, i mean, does it really make any difference to the plot? sofia is an amazing actress. they have changed quite a few plot points in the movie, since its basically the first three books combined. you should defo watch the movie kim!!

I've watched the movie and I think I started reading the book about two years ago, but never finished. The movie is really good! You should watch it! Also, Kim I agree that the book is usually better (definitely the case for the harry potter movies imo)

Like most movie adaptations of books, I really hated this one. First of all, I feel like the actress for Sophie did not correctly portray her personality pre-school for evil, back when she still lived in Gavaldon. Like, in the book it talks about how Sophie was a person who valued physical appearance over anything else, and it was pretty obvious that while she acted like a good person, deep down she really did not value personality at all and just wanted a handsome prince. She often insulted others in the book, even before the schools, so it was quite obvious to the reader that she was genuinely a bad person. The opposite was true for Agatha; it was obvious for her that though she acted tough and isolated, she was still a good person for putting up with Sophie, her mother, and struggling through the difficulties of her life. Agatha rarely complained. Another difference that had a large impact on the story for me was the fact that both Sophie and Agatha were outcasts in the village. In the book, it portrays Sophie as someone who is loved by a lot of people in the village. A good example is Radley, who *COUGH COUGH COUGH COUGH* WAS NOT IN THE MOVIE *COUGH HACK HACK COUGH* anyways Radley really loves Sophie, possibly romantically? And Sophie, while putting up with him (until she tells him she doesnt want to be friends) has many thoughts about how he's ugly and an idiot, even comparing him to a dog at one point. This next thing goes with what Kim says. Agatha is portrayed, throughout the entire movie, EVEN AT THE BEGINNING, by an actress who, all things considered, is reasonably attractive. While this is not necessarily a bad thing, there's a part in the book where just putting on a smile makes Agatha genuinely attractive and much more confident. While I believe everybody is beautiful in their own way, it would have probably been a better option to maybe use makeup, at least at the beginning, to make Agatha look less attractive? Like, how she's described in the book. Scrawny, bug eyes, oily gross hair, all that, and then the same actress could have been there later in the book where it describes Agatha gradually getting more attractive just by smiling, and she could have slowly taken off her makeup. But all the same, there is one more thing I wanted to say that was pre-school for good. Agatha was NICE. In the book, at the beginning, she barely managed to put up with how shallow Sophie acted. But in Gavaldon at the beginning, they were the best of friends. I hate this for multiple reasons, but the main one being that this was the start of the book being able to portray a change in Agatha, the fact that she didn't feel she had to have her guard up anymore and act all tough and mean to everyone. Also, I think they should have added the part from the book when Sophie starts an advice thing for the Nevers, about how to be nice and beautiful or whatever. This was another opportunity for the movie to showcase Sophie slowly and gradually being affected by being in the school for evil, also how she was using it for her own benefit so Tedros would notice her being "compassionate". I hated it with a burning passion and it was full of plot holes, inconsistencies, and literal stupidity. >:/
