Boarding and Goodbyes
Pearl fussed with her hair as they stood in the train terminal. She had been going back and forth all morning on how she wanted to look as she wanted to be comfortable but also look her best for her big day because today she was finally going to Hogwarts. Her mother chuckled softly as she watched her daughter, "Darling, you look fine you don't need to worry." Pearl smiled and nodded but continued to nervously adjust her light purple blouse and dark blue jeans. Today has been on her mind for a long time even before she received her letter of acceptance. It has always been a topic of conversation with her family. Going to Hogwarts, getting that education, getting a good job. For Pearl, the education and future job was of course important to her as well but she was also ready to be able to meet her peers, have fun adventures, and just get to have amazing experiences on the way.
"Alright my lovely ladies, it's time to go over to the platform." Her father said as he had the cart with her trunk on it in front of him. "Are you ready to go precious?" He asked her and she nodded and took her place behind the cart. The three of them walked through the crowd of people and made their way to the platform. When she saw the sign for 9 3/4 she could feel the nervousness inside her building up more. "Just run at it?" She asked her parents again for reassurance. "Yes, just go straight towards it with good momentum." Her father said and she nodded, turning her focus again to the wall ahead of her. "We'll be right behind you sweetie, go ahead." Her mother encouraged her. Pearl took a deep breath in, she was ready. She firmly gripped the cart and focused, running straight towards the wall and suddenly she was on the other side, Hogwarts Express right in front of her. "Wow," was all that escaped her mouth as she looked on at the massive train. Many other students were gathered all over the platform, saying goodbye to family and making their way onto the train. With her parents coming up behind her she turned to them, "I guess I should go on and find a seat on the train." It was clear her mother was getting a little emotional seeing her only baby going off to school for the first time without them. "I'm going to miss you so much." Her mother said and gave her a tight hug. "I'll be sure to send you owls all the time and I'll get to see you again soon enough for the holidays." Pearl smiled as she held onto her mother. Truthfully she was going to miss them but she was ready for this journey, the train journey and her journey at school. "Alright my love, we have to let her get on the train now." Her father interrupted and patted his wife's back. She let go and nodded before standing beside her husband who now wrapped an arm around her waist. "Make sure to be safe, don't get into any trouble." Her father smiled, "and maybe you will even join my house." Her mother laughed and playfully hit him. "Or instead of Ravenclaw, she will be another Hufflepuff like her mother." Pearl couldn't help but laugh at the two of them but she was also wondering where she would end up herself. "I love you both, I'll send you an owl as soon as I get settled." She said and they all made their final goodbyes before she headed onto the train.
