The Aftermath of a Confrontation PV Closed

Mary had spent the majority of her day in the library reading to her hearts extent, until she realized that she had to make it to a club meeting that day. Mary checked the clock on the wall and saw that it was five minutes till the meeting began, if she was late she wouldn't be able to get into the classroom where the meeting would be held. In a rush, Mary slammed her book shut, grabbed her belongings in her arms ,and ran out of the library. While sprinting down the small hall Mary looked up at a clock hanging on the wall and saw she only had 2 minutes left to make it on time. Before Mary could regain her focus on the hall infront of her she slammed into someone and fell. Everything Mary was holding in her hands scattered across the floor as she fell onto the ground and she barley had time to catch herself before she landed face first onto the floor.
Mary sat up slowly trying to regain her composure when she saw the the boy she had run into was gathering her things for her. Mary had gotten up slowly to a standing position when she finally noticed the features of the boy. He was a first year it seemed to Mary and was wearing slytherin robes, he had dark hair and dark eyes.
"You alright there?" the boy asked as he handed Mary her things. "Next time watch where you're going got it?" the boy stated as he began to walk away.
Mary glimpsed at the clock and saw that she was late and there was no purpose in her trying to rush anywhere. Mary contemplated asking the boy for his name or if she should just walk off.
She settled on the former and rushed up to where the boy was walking. "Sorry 'bout that, was in bit of a rush didn't mean to run you down" You could hear that Marys scottish accent was a bit thick but nothing to strong. "Whats your name anyway?"

Josh stopped and turned around. Well, at least she's decent unlike that certain Mudblood. He decided that in order to make friends, he needed to stop being defensive.

"I'm Josh. Josh Altman,"Josh answered back. He could see that the girl was in a hurry, but felt strange when she didn't just up and left. Perhaps she wanted to make some friends. Either way, he knew that he wasn't gonna just stand there and not talk to her. He knew the least he could do was to at least get to know the girl.

"Sorry if I seemed a little rude,"Josh apologized. "I was already upset after dealing with a certain someone that had the nerve to be in the wrong House."

Josh spoke with some tint of anger. His aristocratic English Accent somewhat slurred when he said that. He could see the slight fear in her eyes. However, he knew he couldn't lose his cool. His Slytherin pride as a Pure-Blood kicked in as he was ready to see where this adventure would lead him. Who knows, she might be his first real friend or even better, she might be his first love. Either way, he knew he can't mess this up.

"May I ask your name?"Josh asked politely as he reached for her hand.

When Mary went up to him she couldn't help but notice that he was slightly annoyed,especially after the slightly rude warning he gave her to watch where she was going, she wanted to ask him why but she felt she should get to know him first so she didn't seem like she was intruding.

"I'm Josh. Josh Altman"
Mary felt like she heard the name Altman before but wasn't quite sure where. Maybe he was a pure-blood such as herself? Many pure-blood families knew each other whether they were in the same region or not.

"Sorry if I seemed a little rude,"Josh apologized. "I was already upset after dealing with a certain someone that had the nerve to be in the wrong House."

Mary was a little taken aback by this statement.It frightend Mary a little that someone who seemed collected could be quite so annoyed. Perhaps he was fighting with someone bashing their house? Or was it a muggle-born? Coming from a pure-blood house full of slytherins Mary wasn't raised to be necessarily fond of muggle-borns but she hadn't ever fully hated them. Perhaps she would ask Josh about what happened.

"May I ask your name?" Josh asked whilst reaching for my hand.
"Names' Mary Brown. Nice to meet ya. Mary shook Joshes hand daintily.
"May i ask what happened that made you so upset?" Mary questioned him. She hoped she didn't seem to intrusive.

"Well, there was this Mud... Ahem, excuse me, Muggle-born," Josh started. "Not only did she have the nerve to be sorted into Slytherin, she also had the audacity to insult us Pure-Bloods just because she can't defend her status. She says rubbish like because we follow in Slytherin's footsteps, we Pure-Bloods were weak and also she says things like how Mudbloods are just as good or maybe even better than we are. I swear she will regret the day she met me. Once I master great spells, she will receive her punishment for insulting her superiors!"

Josh just couldn't hold in his anger. It was just too much. Too much to handle now that he knew that he needed to master spells and potions in order to punish that Mudblood once and for all. Hopefully for Josh, Mary wouldn't be too offended. After all, not everyone was this extreme just as most Slytherins were. However, Josh was not really a typical Slytherin born into a Slytherin family. Despite hating Muggles and Mudbloods just like the rest of them, he still can't deny that he was part of a Gryffindor family forever disgraced by them.

Mary took notice of Josh's annoyed expression when she asked her question. She hoped that she hadn't caused him to think of her as intrusive.

"Well, there was this Mud... Ahem, excuse me, Muggle-born," Josh started. Mary was a little shocked at Josh's repulsiveness at muggle-borns. She didn't think that the girl had any choice about being in Slytherin but she decided to keep that to herself. Mary thought about what she should say. She noticed that Josh was a very forward type of person and she really wanted to be his friend so she didn't want to say the wrong thing.

"Do you come from a line of Slytherins?" Mary asked. She knew from experience of her own family that pure-blooded slytherins were indeed the ones who showed the most hatred towards muggles and muggle-borns alike.

"Do you come from a line of Slytherins?" Mary asked. Well I guess it's pretty understandable she would think that. After all, just as she said, most Slytherins that feel this way are from family who had been in Slytherin for centuries. Josh took a deep breath and answered.

"You might find this hard to believe, but I'm the only Slytherin in the family. My family, the Altmans, have been in Gryffindor for centuries. They were infamous for being the biggest Muggle lovers in England. I say infamous because from my view, they forced me to go with them to "field trips" to see the Muggles in their world. After seeing how useless those Muggles were, I started to hate them more and more. Eventually I started to hate their offspring that conveniently knows magic. They're the worst type ever to walk the wizarding world! It was because of my family that I considered Muggles and Squibs as primitive animals and Muggle-Borns as garbage who should never learn magic! More and more what was rightfully ours as Pure-Bloods are taken over by those kind of people and it disgusts me! I curse those fools who were stupid enough to marry off those pathetic animals! To think that a Muggle-Born would be in a House as proud in blood purity like Slytherin makes me sick! I would do whatever it takes for her to be expelled if I had the chance."

Josh took a moment to calm down. He knew he was going overboard with his ranting.

"I'm sorry for going on like that," Josh stated. "But I can't help it when things like this happen!"

And I will never be able to help it! It's all thanks to my family! Looks like nothing will ever change that.

He comes from a line of Gryffindors!? Mary thought to herself in shock. She found that quite hard to believe. After all this boy seemed to hate anything muggle related almost as much as her family. "my family would much rather have you in their linage then me."Mary whispered to herself with a sad look strewn across her face hoping the boy didn't hear what she said. Quickly dismissing the thought she said"I think you've got an intresting point of view. She ,for some reason,found herself very intrested in what else the boy had to say.
"I've never really gotten to experience what muggles were like. My family-they aren't the keenest on them but ive never met one before in me life." Mary stated.
Mary stopped walking down the hall and put a hand on Josh's shoulder as a sign to ask him to stop walking and faced towards him.
"I've heard they've got these wonderful contraptions that transport them everywhere they need to go, 'ave you eva seen one?"Mary said almost too excitedly
She couldn't hide the curious yet excited look she had on her face while asking. Mary knew that the boy might be a little repulsed by her asking about muggle contraptions but, she simply couldn't deny her curiosity.

Josh stopped as Mary placed her hand on his shoulder. It was the most gentle and sweet sensation he had ever felt. After all the harsh treatment he had receive from that blasted Mudblood, this feeling right now was something he can definitely get used to.

"I've heard they've got these wonderful contraptions that transport them everywhere they need to go, 'ave you eva seen one?" Mary said almost too excitedly.

"Yeah, I've seen them and I must not say, I'm not really impressed!" Josh snorted. "It's true that it can take you anywhere you need to go, but can they fly? Absolutely not. I would rather use a broomstick to travel to places when I wanna feel the wind on my face."

Josh knew exactly what Mary was talking about. They were contraptions known as cars in the Muggle world. He had seen them roaming the streets day after day. Josh would scoff at them for their primitive way of transportation. It seems so weird that someone from a Slytherin heritage would ask a ridiculous question like that. Unless she's not an extremist like a typical Slytherin. After pausing for a moment another thought came into his mind. Perhaps she IS the one that could possibly be the friend I was looking for. As much as I don't wanna come to good terms with my family, she might be the one who may heal my scars inside.

"Why do you ask?" Josh asked calmly as he started to smile for the first time in his life.

"Yeah, I've seen them and I must not say, I'm not really impressed!" Josh snorted. "It's true that it can take you anywhere you need to go, but can they fly? Absolutely not. I would rather use a broomstick to travel to places when I wanna feel the wind on my face." Josh scoffed.

Mary thought about what Josh said. It's true that flying can be a bit of a thrill but, for Mary these contraptions seemed so wonderful, so different. Mary grew up with the same people for her whole life, the same family that never let her find friends on her own. So maybe thats why Josh intrigued her so much, he was so different from herself that it seemed like the perfect friend for her. He kept her attention for longer the 5 seconds and for Mary that wasn't the easiest task to accomplish.

"Why do you ask?" Josh questioned her. Mary thought for a second a put things into perspective.

"I've read about them before.-I can never remember the names for those muggle inventions.- Ive never seen one but from the books ive read i could imagine myself sitting in one with someone. I mean on a broom you've got so much wind surrounding you at such a fast speed you couldn't possibly talk to someone. Though in one of those things you could talk about anything in the world with anyone for hours with the calmness of the roads your on passing by you." Mary spoke in a slight daze.

"Doesn't that seem wonderful?" She asked
Mary sometimes let her imagination talk for her and hoped that the slytherin boy wouldnt think of her "theory" to be popestrous.
