There was an eerie feeling to the cabin unlike the others. The wood of the structure was dark, as though it was unnaturally damp in the sun. Jagged and cracking, the foundation of the cabin was weak, but it kept its purpose to house those in need of refuge.
Do not let the eyes be deceitful as the cabin was small in character, however, one step into its rickety door it grows four times its size. Inside, on the right, there lies den with dark, dusty bean bags instead of couches that are in front of an unused fireplace. To the left was a staircase that led towards the second floor where there are a good number of bedrooms for children to choose from.
If one were to look around, they would notice that there were no windows to look out of. The cabin was home to darkness that does not abide to light. The only way out is the door that one would enter from. To some it may be relaxing, but to others it can be detrimental to their sanity.
---
The bonfire was finally over. Standing in the corner watching everyone's amusement of the dancing flame, she had wondered when the yawns would arrive to each individual. It was going to be a long summer, she could feel it.
"If you're in the Cabin of the Basilisk, follow me," she spoke loudly, her accent thick. Those who did not listen out for the cabin name, she did not repeat twice. She was not a woman who repeated herself. Maya believed that if they needed to find where they needed to go, they would ask for directions. Hoping that some would follow her, she made her way into the woods, away from the bonfire.
The trees, thickening the more steps she took, within a few feet, the cabin appeared. She looked behind her to ensure that she had some followers. Looking forward, she opened the door and let in the students.
"Welcome to your cabin. I'm Professor Galim," she introduced herself, not mentioning her relationship to the school as to what professor she was. She never cared for introductions such as those. Her name was important and sooner or later they will know of what subject she taught.
"Find your rooms and meet downstairs in fifteen minutes," Maya paused, "Oh, and be sure to bring any and all your muggle devices downstairs for collection. I will know if you withhold anything," she finished.
Now was the waiting game.

Cabin of the Basilisk
Lilith followed the woman with the accent. She recognized her as one of the Professors at Hogwarts but didn't know what she taught. It must be one of the classes they could take in their upper years. Following the woman through the camp, they arrived at a cabin that looked smaller than all the others.
Glad was one of the feelings Lilith was experiencing. She was planning to stay another summer at the boring (not to mention expensive) Leaky Cauldron, but when she heard that Hogwarts would have a little summer camp to stay at until the next school year, Lilith was ecstatic. This was her chance. She wouldn't starve and she'd have somewhere comfy to stay. Hogwarts was nothing if not grand.
Entering the cabin, Lilith instantly wanted to exclaim, "Brilliant!"
It was made from a dark room, casting the whole room in shadows as there were no windows. The room gave off a dark, but comforting vibe with dark bean bags and a currently unlit fireplace. Dark stairs led up to a second floor. For once, she listened to what a Professor said and bounded up the steps with a newfound excitement that Lilith didn't usually show.
She went to the end of the hallway, also happy that they had their own rooms, unlike in Hogwarts. Her dormmates didn't get along the best last year. Hopefully, she will be with cabinmates much more to her speed. Lilith chose the last bedroom on the left, opening the door to reveal a room that matched the rest of the house. Dark wooden floors and bedframe, with a simple bed with a dark bedspread. Everything was dark, including the dresser and in the corner and trunk at the foot of her bed.
Dropping to her knees, Lilith popped open her own trunk and took out all the clothes, putting them in the new trunk. She slipped out her aspen wand, slipping it into her back pocket. Closing her trunk, which held a few of her more valuable things, she pushed it underneath her bed. She closed the top of the dark trunk, sealing her things inside.
Lilith didn't have to worry about any Muggle objects. She barely owned any wizarding world objects. Lilith walked back down the hallway, wearing a long sleeve black shirt that showed her collarbone and dark jeans. Her feet were bare, having taken off her shoes upstairs. Her bare feet felt cool walking down the stairs. Her clothes seemed to match her atmosphere and Lilith was beginning to develop new ideas for the Minerva McGonagall dormitory. She didn't think the social butterflies of the dorm would appreciate it as much as she did though. She descended back into the main living area.
Looks like you changed from a Lion to a Baskilisk, Lilith thought, allowing a smug smile to touch her lips.

Cabin of the Basilisk
After the festivities of the bonfire, Dinah was more than happy to go to her cabin, find her room and sink into a hopefully dreamless sleep. Feeling optimistic for this summer, Dinah followed the designated teacher over to the edge of the forest where the cabin stood. It had an odd quality about it, almost as if it gave the impression you were about to enter somewhere very damp. Dinah hoped that wouldn’t be the case because it otherwise looked like a pretty nice place to stay. Although maybe the damp atmosphere would cool her down from this close summer heat. She thought Scotland wasn’t ever supposed to see the sun?
Dinah was astounded, even now, by the way the cabin seemed to almost double in size as they walked through the door. Will I ever get used to magic? She wondered, taking in the room in front of her. The only word she could think of to describe it was dark. With no windows, it was unlikely she would be seeing the rising of the sun this summer but she wasn’t too upset by this. Darkness suited her fine.
She was glad to see bean bags gathered over one side of the room by an unlit fireplace. Another good idea, Dinah believed. Bean bags were so much more comfortable and it meant she didn’t have to awkwardly sit next to students she didn’t really know like she would have done had there been couches.
Dinah nodded in response to the teachers instructions and as she finished speaking, bounded upstairs with the rest of the students.
Her room was an important part of summer camp. If she didn’t like her room she had a feeling she wouldn’t be able to enjoy the rest of the summer. As odd as this was, it was a major problem for Dinah. With this in mind, she fled down the corridor.
A face she hadn’t noticed till just now caught her attention. Lilith Westlocke, a fellow Gryffindor that Dinah had joined for a trip through some secret underground tunnels, had just disappeared into the last room on the left.
Surely it would be nicer to have neighbours that you knew and got along with? Dinah hurried over to the room directly opposite Liliths before someone else snagged it, and closed the door behind her.
The room itself held a kind of dark beauty that Dinah admired. Clearly there was a theme to the cabin and while Dinah wasn’t entirely sure what a basilisk was, she figured the theme was fitting of that.
Dinah flung herself on the relatively comfy mattress that sat on the bed frame and sighed. This summer was definitely going to be better than any other she’d had. It had to be.
For a short while she rested her eyes and just appreciated the noise of the camp grounds. Other students heading to their own cabins, some still at the bonfire having fun. It was a comforting sound, somehow.
Knowing Professor Galim was waiting for them downstairs, Dinah reluctantly pulled herself from the bed to unpack her trunk. The few muggle clothes she had brought with her folded neatly into the waiting trunk at the end of her bed. She shoved her wand into one of the belt loops on her jeans before double checking she hadn’t packed any muggle objects accidentally.
The last thing she wanted was to be chucked out of summer camp for something as silly as that.
Confident she hadn’t brought anything that would get her in trouble, Dinah left her room and headed back down the wooden stairs where she was sure some of the other students and Professor Galim would be waiting.

Cabin of the Basilisk
Interacting with Dinah Dragensail
Skye jerked her head up when the professor spoke. Her voice was thickly accented, but she could not quite place the accent. Skye followed the professor anyway, feeling slightly guilty to leave her friend, Aurelia, behind.
Skye recognized the professor from seeing her around the school at times, but that was it. She trailed behind the others, taking everything in. She smiled when the cabin grew bigger, though surprised. It was like a muggle saying that her parents always used, 'Don't judge a book by its cover.'
She listened to the professor speak. So her name was Professor Galim. Skye took note of that, and looked around.
The cabin was dark, and had an eerie feeling to it. It was.. different. Though Skye liked it, she was unsure if her family would feel the same way. She let her finger rest on the railing of the staircase for a moment, then made her way up. She looked around, weighing her options. Skye was the type who liked her privacy, but it would be easier if she chose a room nearer to the stairs so that she could get down first when called. But if she did choose a room nearer to the stairs, there would surely be the disturbance of noisy footsteps.
The cogs in her Ravenclaw mind turned, and she finally settled on the last room on the right, and opened the door. It had the same dark beauty as the rest of the cabin, with dark wood floors and a black bed with a grey bedspread and a soft black pillow. A dresser in a shade of deep grey was adjacent
to the bed, which was facing the door and had been placed in the right corner of the room. Two dark bean bags sat diagonal to the bed, beside the door, and Skye's navy blue trunk lay at the foot of the bed.
She organized a little bit, placing her toiletries on the dresser neatly and dusting the bed and bean bags a little.
Remembering the professor's orders, Skye then made her way downstairs after making sure she had no muggle gadgets with her. When she arrived, she saw that a girl was already there. Skye smiled warmly, and caught the girl's eye. She seemed to be a year older. "Hello, I am Skye. What about you?" she asked.

Cabin of the Basilisk
Verla walked with the professor to the cabin as she hid her bowtruckle in her pocket, making sure he didn't make a sound.
She was nervous for meeting new people, though she always was. She felt Ollie moving in her pocket and he poked his head out of her pocket. People looked at him and gave a disapproving look to her.
She began to protest "look, I've tried to speak to my head master about this and he hasn't replied. Please don't make me give him away" she said and almost began to cry. She couldn't lose him again. Another person came up behind her and tried to comfort her, she didn't know who it was. But she was grateful they were there. She held Ollie in her hand.
She looked at him, prepared to hear if she had to let him go. Though she probably wouldn't, she was still preparing to hear it. She couldn't let him go, he could die since his kind thought he was a traitor. She knew this because he told her.
"Look, I've been teaching him to speak, say something Ollie."
Ollie walked in front of the professor and said "I ish happy wit Verla, yep yep yep." He said.
Verla smiled and looked at the professor "please don't make me get rid of him, please."

Cabin of the Basilisk
Camp, What a pleasant thing to do during the summer. Although Lorelei dreaded it. her parents were on an archeological dig, collecting artifacts for their museum. However, They were unable to bring her along. Thus her stay at the camp. Letting out a sigh she entered the cabin, the structure looked much larger on the inside than out and frankly, She was amazed. Being from a small apartment held in England and a small home in Ireland, she was never used to the magic and complexity of it all. Yet she felt relieved to have something to gawk at, and something new to see and learn. She would never get used to this. However, She wasn't too sure she wanted to. She liked things exciting and hated when things got bland. She wasn't quite sure what to do. She wandered the cabin before setting her items on the bed. Really any bed that didn't seem occupied by someone. However, she wasn't quite sure how many people had already arrived. She counted two not including the supervisor, but she assumed there would be more by now. She sighed and shrugged, "maybe not" she murmured to herself as she began to remove her clothes from her bag.

Cabin of the Basilisk
Nahla followed Professor Galim to the cabin. Her parents enrolled her in the summer camp while she waited for the next school year.
Her mother said something about: "This culture is new to you, Na-chan, and I think it's important for you to start interacting with a respectable sample of your supposed peers,"
And her father: "I think it is a waste of time. I see no difference between interacting with your, as your mother put, supposed peers now versus later when the next school year starts... but, tell me your desires Nahla. What do you want to do?"
Well, truth be told, Nahla didn't even want to go to Hogwarts. In fact, she didn't even want to be anywhere near Western Europe at all.
But, since she was apparently attending next school year and her family was staying in London until then, she might as well go to this summer camp. She'd miss her dates with her father, though.
As she entered the cabin, she could not help but look around. A small part of her continued to find it amazing how you could have something so large within something outwardly small.
She took the stairs to the floor above. She quickly chose an empty bedroom and deposited her trunk. Her wand was tucked away on her person. She had no muggle items with her, so she didn't have to worry about that.
She then went downstairs to join the group.

Cabin of the Basilisk
Evianna followed the Muggle Studies professor toward the Basilisk cabin. From the outside, it looked eerily cold and damp. She worried that it would be similar inside, but didn't hesitate when told to enter the cabin with the others. When Professor Galim said that the students would each have their own rooms, Evianna smiled. At least she wouldn't have to bunk with a total stranger.
She surveyed the main room briefly. The beanbags gave the rather dark room a rather cozy feeling. She only hoped they weren't too dusty. However, she couldn't help but notice the lack of windows and the single door. She didn't like that much. If the place burnt down, there was only one way out. Wandering up the stairs, she chose a room near the staircase and emptied her duffle bag and backpack into the trunk at the foot of the bed.
She frowned as she took her Polaroid camera out of the knapsack. Her mother had sent it to her by owl; clearly the woman, though caring, didn't understand that most Muggle devices were banned at the school. Maybe Evianna could convince Professor Galim to let her keep it. After all, the professor taught Muggle Studies and would likely understand how harmless cameras were.
She chose a book out of her trunk and brought it downstairs with the polaroid. Dropping the book into an unoccupied beanbag, she went before the professor and held out the camera. "Professor, I know Muggle devices are banned, but can I keep this, please? It's harmless. All it can do is take photographs," she said, staring up at the Muggle Studies professor hopefully.

Cabin of the Basilisk
Fifteen minutes had passed and Maya saw seven students walk downstairs towards her. Seven... I was supposed to have eight... Perhaps the other student had lost her way into the woods or went to another cabin. Whatever that student's choice was, Maya did not care. She gave directions and she expects her students to follow them to the T.
A little girl with read hair had come up with a camera in her hands. She noticed the other students did not have muggle devices and it was only her that had one.
Maya, at first wanted all muggle devices away, but how could she say no to the retro Polaroid camera? She secretly enjoyed the fact that a child was bringing not a phone of any kind, but a true camera. Hiding her enjoyment, she nodded at the child, "you may keep that device."
Maya broadened her focus from the child to the whole of seven children in the den. Now to begin.
"Can anyone tell me what a Basilisk is?" she asked, always starting out educational. She felt it wrong to stay in a cabin that represented a creature with no knowledge about it. Maya was about to keep going with her introductory course for the students when she caught something moving from the corner of her eye. She looked at the other red-headed girl and saw in her pocket was a bowtruckle. Maya took a deep breath at the irritation she was feeling to see a little girl keep a bowtruckle and take it away from their environment.
"I was going to talk about a Basilisk, but let us revert to your bowtruckle, Miss Harness. Do you know the purpose of the creature you have there in your pocket?" she asked, her Israeli accent thick. "Having it stay in your pocket, do you know what you're doing to the forest? Let me go further, do you know the about the trees they live on?" Maya, crossed her arms and waited for the little girl to answer her.

Cabin of the Basilisk
Verla looked up and began to shake "y-yes professor, they protect the trees that wands are made of. But Ollie didn't want to and his family abandoned him ma'am. Oh please don't take him away." Verla begged very hard and began to cry. She felt awful knowing the professor would. But then again, she could have a change of heart "I've had him since the second day of school. Please don't take him away, oh please don't." She begged again.
She held her head down and tears fell from her cheeks to the ground as she looked at Ollie in her hand, who tried to comfort her. But it just made it more painful for her.
She then put him in her hood "no! I won't let you take him! He's my only family I have left and I won't lose him too" she sobbed. She sat down on the ground, took the crying bowtruckle from her hood and held him close.
She knew taking him to the cabin would be a mistake, but she thought it would be fun for him to hunt for bugs and keep the cabin clean of spiders. She wanted to scream, but that would be disrespectful.
