An Old Friend Meets a New(er) Friend
Saturday, September 10th, 2022
Great Hall, HogwartsFinishing up the Peaceful Mind Club posters, adding a few magical touches, Bailey grabbed three of them and headed down to dinner. She had a mission- find Kim, @Simon Kincaid and @Colin McCoire and give them each a poster, and ask them each to hang it up in their respective common room.
The posters she had made at home, and just added sparkles that moved and other magical touches in the Ravenclaw common room.

Swinging her bag over her shoulder, Bailey grabbed the posters and headed out of the common room.
Going down the stairs, Bailey bumped into Colin and handed him the poster, asking if he would hang it up. Colin answered with a “Sure thing! Of course Bailey!”
Bailey was glad that he had agreed so easily. She just had to hope Simon did to- or she would have to find another Hufflepuff.
I could ask @Emma Wynn or @Avery McCall…. But I’ll stick with Simon or @AngelFyre McCubbin
Entering the Great Hall Bailey spotted Simon and went over to him. Asking him the same thing she had asked Colin, he replied “Of course, Bailey!” he said with a smile, “always happy to help!”
Smiling, Bailey turned and started going to the Ravenclaw table. She didn’t make it all the way- she saw Kim sitting at the end of the Griffindor table.
Making her way over to him, Bailey plopped down in the empty chair next to him.
“Hey Kim! How are you? Can I ask you a favor?”
Without waiting for his reply, she plowed on.
“I have these posters for the Peaceful Mind Club meeting that I have planned for the end of the month..” she started.
“And I was wondering if you would pin one up in the Griffindor Common Room? I asked Simon and Colin if they would, and I’m hanging one up the in the Ravenclaw common room- I’m just trying to cover my bases.”
Waiting for Kim’s reply, Bailey pulled a dish of steak and mashed potatoes towards her. Loading her plate with some steak, mashed potatoes, asparagus, and fruit salad, Bailey took a bite and sighed. Kim took a sip of his pumpkin juice -

Swallowing, she said “Oh my goodness I’m so hungry. And a little sore- it’s been a while since I worked out as hard as I did the other night at the MAC meeting. How do you think that went? I think it went pretty well- two or three new members! I consider those posters to be a success!”

ㅤ──────────────────────| ── | It was September. The start of the fall season and yet it was still so hot outside. As a result, Kim was still wearing summer clothes. Currently, the white haired boy was wearing a sleeveless white shirt with palm tree designs on it, and a pair of black slacks. The usual accessories donned his neck, ears, wrists and fingers. Quite a lot had already happened at Hogwarts and it was only the first month he'd been back here. Not even a month had gone by, it was just the 10th! Trouble seemed to already be brewing though and Kim's own personal confusion when it came to what had happened between him and Rabbit didn't help matters. He shook his head and thought about what was going on. Sophia and Precious seemed to have something against Spider Girl and vice versa. He wasn't entirely sure what it was but for some reason Kim kept thinking it had something to do with Gia. It was the only thing everyone had in common. Unless, it was something he didn't know about? Lost in his thoughts, he didn't realize Bailey had come over until she spoke and he glanced down at her. Kim had grown an inch during summer, not that he needed the extra height, as he was already taller than most kids his age and in his current year. It took him a few seconds or so. To figure out what she'd said before. Once he did, he nodded and took the poster from her to place them carefully into his satchel beside him. Kim took a sip of his pumpkin juice, he'd been trying out new liquids lately, and ate some shepherd's pie, his go-to-favorite at Hogwarts. It was simple, filling and had meat, potatoes and vegetables inside. Plus, it wasn't messy either, which was perfect. As Bailey spoke about how the first meeting of the MAC had gone, Kim nodded. "I think it went pretty well, the posters seem to have worked. We got some new members. Let's hope they stay over the year." The boy said and took a bite of his meal. It tasted as good as he'd remembered it to be from last year. "You should have held back a bit, saved some for later. Gotta keep the members on their toes!" Kim said with a smirk, teasing her a little. He continued to eat the shepherd's pie, relishing the taste of each particle that went into his mouth and slid down his throat. The juices from each ingredient sang on his tongue and inside his mouth. It was simply delicious, that was all there was to it. Ah, if only he could just eat all the time, and get powerful this way. No, that was laziness talking, all good things came from hard work. That or betraying someone in the end. And the latter was not something Kim would ever do to someone. ────────────────────── ㅤ ㅤ──────────────────────

Keith was still getting used to the palace. There were so many rooms, and so many different ways to get somewhere. He decided to write a list of the people he had met, and something about them, that way he would remember. He hopped off his bed, and went to his trunk. He normally would keep his notepad, notebook, and a pair of clothes out on top, so when he didn't see his notebook he got confused. Then he remembered he left it somewhere else last night.
Keith walked up to the window, the one he remembered talking to Noah in. The place he had received a gift, a transfiguration textbook. Inside was a note left by Noah, and Keith read it every now and then, especially days he needed a bit of positivity.
Keith walked up to the window, and there was his notebook. "Right where I left it! Excellent!" Keith thought while he grabbed it. He then went to head down to the Great hall.
Keith walked down and grabbed a piece of ham, he wasn't feeling chicken today, for some odd reason. He sat down, and started to write down the people who's name's he remembered. "Let's see, EmmaLee, Avery, Freya, Oh, Bailey, and... I haven't met anyone else yet..." Keith put his head down, then back up as he heard a familiar voice.
Keith looked up to see Bailey talking to someone else, wait, hadn't Keith talked to him the first night here? "That's the second year, what was their name?" Keiht thought sliding to the place in front of the two.

Bailey was definitely not sitting in the traditionally correct place, but she did not care. She had sat with @Kim Sato before and would do it again.
Kim nodded and said that he considered the meeting a success and that the poster had done their work. She nodded and grinned. If had worked, and she also considered it a success.
should have held back… Kim’s right I probably should have. Too late now she though as Kim smirked at her. He was clearly teasing her, but she was good for it.
“That’s true..” bailey said, shrugging. She continued with a smile- “But it’s too late now!”
Bailey dug into her meal, enjoying the steak, mashed potatoes and asparagus. She took a bit of her fruit salad and looked up when she heard a semi familiar voice- it was @Keith Moore.
Smiling, she said “Hey Keith! This is Kim- Kim Aoki! He’s my best friend! I may have mentioned him to you and @Avery McCall when I met y’all! Anyways, how are you doing Keith? Settling into school well? How’s your dorm? Are you settling in to life at Hogwarts well?”
Bailey was a fountain of words, curious about how the first year was faring.
She was sure he had more friends a week and a half into school than she had had. Bailey had been extremely shy her first year, and only last year had @Colin McCoire and Kim pulled her out in of her shell.

ㅤ──────────────────────| ── | It was getting popular over here. The Gryffindor table was loud and crowded as usual around this time, something Kim didn't really like. But then again, all the tables were like this and so he had to deal with it, regardless. At least he could distract himself with all the delicious food spread out before him. Plus, Bailey was there right now. He always welcomed Miss Ray of Sunshine's presence. It would also help him to stop thinking about what Rabbit had done to him only a few days before summer camp had ended that year. Right around that time, another Gryffindor came over and took a seat directly across from Bailey. As the boy spoke, Kim looked over at him. Ah, that was Keith, one of the new first years! He hadn't seen him in awhile, since the opening ceremony back on September 1st. As Keith greeted Bailey and turned his attention to him, Kim wasn't surprised that he didn't remember his name. It had been a rather hectic day and Kim wasn't exactly the social butterfly that Bailey was. Bailey had already introduced him, there was no need to do so again. It would be redundant. "Keith. I think we met back on the first when you got sorted. How have things gone for you since then?" He asked, curious, echoing one of Bailey's earlier questions from before. It was always interesting to find out what newcomers thought of the place. Well, for him at least. A faint smirk came to his lips. Bailey had answered for him at the same time. The two of them were so in sync it was scary sometimes! Even their questions were the same. Truly, it seemed as if they were connected on a higher level than others! "She's right, we're closer than most people you'll see around these parts." Kim said with a wink, teasing Bailey a little with his words. I mean, technically it was true. They did have a special connection, but it wasn't anything like what he was making it out to be. Still, teasing others was something Kim tended to do often. It was good natured teasing though, not malicious. After all, Kim wasn't the type to like hurting others or being mean and cruel to them. Not unless they deserved it, that is. Keith turned towards Bailey, "You might have, I'm not sure. School's been okay, I'm getting good grades. my dorm is boring, but i don't spend much time there anyway so it doesn't matter. I love it here at Hogwarts. There is so much to explore." He turned towards Kim, "Nice to meet you Kim. Yeah it's Keith, and uh, things have been interesting so far. the only other people I've met are the ones I rode the train here with. One of them, EmmaLee, I think her name was, had this cool cat and I mainly pet it the whole time. Then there was this girl from the country side. i forgot her name..." Keith smiled. "sorry... I like to talk a lot once I get going..."
Keith looked at them, "yeah? I wish i had a best friend, maybe I'll get one this year."
Keith suddenly remembered he had things to do, "Oh snap, I forgot, I have some things i have to go do. I must be on my way. It was nice talking to you again Bailey, and you too Kim. Bye bye." Keith said, running off. "Same, actually." Kim admitted to Keith. They were alike in that particular manner. "I don't tend to spend much time at the dorms, unless I'm picking something up, putting something down, or sleeping at night." The white haired teen said with a little shrug of his shoulders. There wasn't much point in spending a lot of time there, not when you could go outside or to the library to do any work you might need to do. Plus, there was so much for you to see and experience away from the dorms. The latter was more for storing things/sleeping, at least that was Kim's personal opinion about them. Keith's comment about cats made Kim grimace. Of all things, Keith had to be interested in cats? Before he could respond to his words, the boy seemed as if he'd suddenly remembered something he'd forgotten to do. And excused himself from the table, presumably to take care of whatever it was. "Zàijiàn!" Kim said with a nod, using the Mandarin word for goodbye. Glancing over at Bailey, the white haired teen pulled some of the glazed carrots towards him. "You should try them. They're delicious." Kim told the girl sitting there.... He took a spoonful of the vegetables. And quickly started to eat them, finishing up what was currently on his plate at the moment. Soon, it would be time for dessert! Kim glanced around to select a few more savory foods, just in case the dishes disappeared for sweet ones, and continued to stuff some food into his cheeks. |

Bailey was sitting with kim when another boy, keith, came up to say hello. Turns out that Kim knew keith from the beginning of the school year, and Kim echoed her question of how the school year was going.
They were scary in sync sometimes, as they answered the question at the same time. Bailey turned to kim, and smirked back at him. She rolled her eyes when he winked at her, after his teasing comment that they were closer than most people. They were closer than most people, including some couples - they were practically attached at the hip sometimes. They had a special connection, and they had just... clicked when they first got the other's first quill pall owl, and when they first met.
Bailey honestly enjoyed kim's teasing and banter, knowing that he really did not mean it. It was a friendly thing to do, and bailey - most of the time - knew how to appropriately word a rebuttal.
Keith said school had been good, and proceeded to tell them about how his school year had gone so far. Bailey smiled softly at keith - she loved hearing people talk about themselves, sharing something that if they had not been asked, that they probably would have not mentioned. "no need to apologize, and Emma sounds really nice!!"
Keith had to leave a few moments later, and bailey sung out a cheerful "byee!!!!"
After keith had left, kim glanced over at bailey. she smiled at him, and said "i doubt they are as good as the ones my mum has made, but i will try them"
Bailey took a bite of the glazed carrots; they were good, but not her mums.
She finished her food quickly, as she - and so it seemed, kim - anxiously awaited dessert.
