Quidditch Hufflepuff Vs. Gryffindor- Fall 2022

Serena grabbed the Quaffle, lined up her shot, and let out a silent cheer as it went through the hoops. She snatched it a second time, but to her dismay, she fumbled, the ball slipping out of her fingers before she could take her shot. "Shit!" She quietly exclaimed.

Trying not to let her fumble get to her, Serena grabbed the Quaffle one more time. Thankfully, this time there were no problems, and she was able to get it in! Her two goals plus Atlas' two goals added another forty points to the scoreboard. Serena was about to let out a cheer of joy but stopped when she saw Alma fall off her broom after a Bludger hit her. Serena felt bad for the girl, especially since she had just gotten on the pitch. But, the fourth year temporarily put her feelings to the side (it wouldn't do to be so distracted that she got knocked off herself) and went back to surveying the pitch, preparing for her next move.

The hubris of violent intent would soon redirect toward him with a vicious howl of vengeance. Another bludger, another swing, another strike; yet this time, the battered projectile found not his target, but the bat of an opposing beater.
Focused as he was upon Ethen, the boy had not noted the presence of his nearby protector, and was thusly unprepared for the rather alarming sight of the bludger he'd struck coming straight back at his own face. Caught with his pants down, as it were, he was left with insufficient time to react properly, only able to rotate slightly, throwing his shoulder in the bludger's path to protect his head.

The iron ball hit him like... well, like an iron ball with the unrelenting force of eternal malice. He heard more than felt the unholy pop in his shoulder, signaling that the arm attached to it would be mostly useless for the remainder of the match. Adrenaline coated the pain for now, but he would certainly feel that later.
Fortunately for him, a barrel roll taken with the blow's momentum had saved him from taking a tumble to the unforgiving ground below, and his dominant arm remained unharmed. And so, brandishing his bat in that hand, he searched for his next target with naught more than a newfound hunger for blood.

Akari chewed at her inner lip as she saw the hufflepuff chasers easily rack up some points since she was not there to contest them. This penalty lap felt never ending and she tried her best to watch attentively all she was missing as she circled around the pitch speedily.

Going head to head, broom to broom, and toe to toe, Ethen and Elena pass their time chasing the snitch by grabbing at the quaffles. Ethen comes away with two grabs, and his nerve proving steady, posts two more tens up on the board for Hufflepuff. As the crowd cheers for his success, Elena comes to the remaining grabs prepared for a show down, but despite her mental fortitude, the more accurate Atlas Reid has no problem blocking two thirds of the posts. As Gryffindor puts their first points up, the stands begin chanting "Gryff-in-dor, Gryff-in-dor."

Once again seizing initiative, Marshal stays on top of his game, blasting another bludger at Ethen. Avery, boldly going where they have gone at least once before, takes a sharp SMACK as they defend Ethen from harm. Sent tumbling into the arms of Serena, the slaughter continues as the ricochet swirls into the pair. Winded, or perhaps dazed, Serena does not manage to react in time as Pax smacks one of their own curveballs towards the Hufflepuff pair which sends them crashing to the ground without a chance for further action. Akari takes the opportunity to throw Ethen off his game, attempting to lock their broom handles together so he loses his progress. Unhindered, Ethen's team mates throw Akari off her game just by being there. "ANOTHER LAP FOR THE GRYFFINDOR KEEPER."

Haley/Finnegan Return to broom

Both seekers preoccupied with the chase, Haley is escorted back to her broom at Finnegan's leisure as the two enjoy an entire round without being targeted, fouled, or bludgered just for playing in the game. It's still anyone's game out here tonight, and both the crowd and players are all too aware of it. Will Ethen manage to top off Hufflepuff's lead in a show of skill, or will Elena snatch victory right from under their noses in a display of daring?

Haley was finally back on her broom and she knew, even though she was in a bad state, she had to give it her all again now. Heightened awareness and caution and still go according to plan. Hufflepuff were 90 points ahead, but they could still do it. But for that to happen, everyone had to give 150% and if the young Gryffindor was honest, she didn't know if she would be able to do that after the hit. But she didn't worry about that, she did her best, hoped for the team and, above all, crossed her fingers for Elena that she would soon catch the Snitch.

─────Trailing behind Ethen as he battles for goals, Avery does her best to continue keeping watch for bludgers. Everything seems to be moving so fast. She barely catches sight of a bludger rocketing towards the seeker. Gripping her broom with both hands, she twists sharply to intercept it. Knowing she wouldn't have time to get her bat up in time, she simply braces for another painful impact. And painful it was.

The blow unbalances her. Her consciousness wavers slightly as she feels herself tip over one side of the broom into a freefall. A huff of air is forced from her lungs as the momentum suddenly comes to a halt. Blinking slightly, she realizes she's now astride Serena's broom. A brief, slightly pained smile is offered to her momentary savior. The rain of bludgers seems to be a fairly persistent curse, however, and mere seconds later she finds herself tumbling through the air once more alongside the older chaser.

Mostly content with having been able to at least buy the seeker a little more time, Avery offers up silent encouragement to the few teammates still in the air. The sight of the pitch below rapidly approaching does nothing to ease the dread. That...did not look like a soft landing.

Howard watched on from his penalty lap around the pitch. Every moment only added further to his despair as he witnessed two more of his teammates plummet to the ground below. What on earth was happening? They had trained! They had strategized! However, the Gryffindor beaters should the badgers no mercy as they devastated their lineup one by one. Yet not all was lost. The Badgers led by 90 points and with the way Ethen was flying, Howard was sure he had spotted the Snitch. The next moment would probably determine the outcome of this match. May the gods of Quidditch be merciful!

The stands were filled with anxious spectators, all rooting for their respective teams. Gryffindor was trailing behind in points, but Ethan didn't give up hope. He knew that if they could catch the golden snitch, they could still win the game. “Come on, Gryffindor! You guys can do it!” he shouted, hoping that his voice would carry over to the players and give them the extra boost they needed to win.

While trying to chase after the one thing that would put an end to this chaos, it didn't hurt to have a grab at the Quaffle. She was surprisngly accurate with it but their Keeper was better. Still, those ten points were at least something as the chant went up from the spectators watching although Gryffindor was hurting badly. A hundred points compared to a measel ten was nothing to be excited about and it only gave her more motivation to focus her efforts on ensnaring the Snitch between her fingers. It was slowly dawning on her why there was so much pressure and attention focused on this sole position, she was experiencing it all in one as eyes shifted to her, people watched as she duked it out with the other Seeker to see who would close the distance first to the Snitch. First, it was there fluttering and tautning them before darting off and she had to readjust and it was this back-and- forth that made it hard to truly anticapte the movements of the golden ball as it led her whipping and weaving throughout the various players and the pitch.
