Lara stormed into the Trophy Room, cheeks flushed and fists curled. A few minutes earlier, she had been walking down the stairs before she accidentally tripped and proceeded to fall down two flights of stone stairways. Although a bit rattled with some bruises and a few cuts, she would've fine if it weren't for a second year calling attention to it, which caused her to be surrounded by laughing children. Even thinking about the moment made her cringe. She pushed it to the back of her mind, having had enough embarrassment for the day, and instead took in the serene silence which filled the room. Brushing her ruffled hair out of her face, she breathed in the musty air.
Leaning back onto a trophy case, Lara could feel her flushed cheeks slowly returning to normal, and her fists unraveled with every breath. Inspecting the room, she saw a variety of awards, some bronze, and silver, but most were a polished gold, reflecting the candle's light off onto the floor and ceiling. The spacious room was the one place Lara could come without her thoughts being interrupted by someone, and she took joy in knowing that few people came to the place. She wondered where other people went for quiet time. Probably the library, or rehearsal room, or maybe even the stairwe- Stupidly thinking of stairs, the incident flashed through Lara's mind again, leaving echoes of laughter ringing in Lara's ears. Shuddering, she turned her attention back to the shelves of trophies, a small silver one catching her eye.
Walking over to inspect it, she noticed a small tag tied around one of the handles. Lara leaned closer, her nose almost touching the glass, and read the printed letters.
Taken aback by the intricate details of the trophy, Lara failed to notice a boy standing behind the trophy case. It wasn't until she noticed the tails of a scarf that the boy became apparent to her. Jumping back and nearly screaming, fear quickly turned into anger as she yelled at the boy, "What on earth are you doing there?!" All she wanted was some peace and quiet, but even that wish couldn't come true.

He had been looking quietly at the girl that had walked into the trophy room. She was looking in his direction silently for a long time but she wasn’t speaking. That suited Kaegen just fine. If she wanted to not strike up a conversation he wouldn’t either, people didn’t need to talk to interact. And no one said they even had to interact, did they?
But then her eyes widened as she made a flying leap backwards, clearly startled for some reason that would probably remain forever a mystery to the young ravenclaw. He had been standing there for a while, why would she choose now to freak out? His head whipped around to look behind him, somehow making even that speedy movement look natural.
There wasn’t anything there that could reasonably scare her, unless whatever it was had already vanished. If it had, then it was probably either something that could teleport, something that could turn invisible, or something that could go through the walls. There were definitely several spells that could teleport you, which would lend itself to being a wizard or death witch.
But the castle was full of ghosts, some probably malevolent. Peeves, for example. One of them could have shown up, scared the girl and then passed back through the wall before he had managed to look around. So they were also a possible candidate.
And then she asked him what he was doing there, or asked whatever had scared her. Kaegen’s head came back slowly to face the girl as he took a smooth step to the side, out from behind the display case. The boy looked off, not exactly correct. His skin was a shade of white that reminded you of a corpse, dark shadows framing darker eyes that glinted with a sharp intelligence.
His hair was black as tar and didn’t seem to have any shine to it. It hadn’t been brushed or combed in a long time, and it’s disheveled appearance bore testimony to that fact. The tip of his chin was hidden in the folds of a grey scarf that perched on the shoulders of his beaten up robe. The robe wasn’t any different from the rest of the boy, covered with burns and stains and rips, some looking like strange claw marks.
Tied securely to his back was a long staff, a few feet longer than the boy was tall. One one end was a poofy closed umbrella. All in all, it all came together to paint a very strange, unsettling picture.
”What scared you? Who are you talking to?”
His quiet voice carried across the short distance between them. It was monotone and whispery and not at all pleasant. If anything it looked condescending, which was saying something considering his physical appearance.

Ugh, sorry this really is not by best work. But at least I got it out faster than I thought I would, so points for efficiency!
