BAM! BAM! BAM! Edward's large combat boots went as he ran with his books to yet another class. He had been running around all morning, he continuously tripped on his oversized plain black robes, he had accidently got a wrong size. Back in Diagon Alley when he and his mother had gotten to Madam Malkins they had decided on the large, because he was quite tall for an 11 year old, and they hadn't had the time for him to try it on. So here Edward was tripping and sliding over his oversized robes, he had already owled his mother about this and she was going to send him a new size that actually fit. He had finally got to History of Magic in the nick of time. Everyone was already seated but the lesson had not yet started, Edward quickly scanned the room until he found an empty seat next to a lanky, but pretty, girl with boy-short hair. She wore plain black robes and a mustard yellow tie, a fellow Huff-Puff! Edward smiled to himself as he sat next to her. He had already read the lesson before-hand in his book during desperation of boredom. It had been a dangerous stormy weekend, and Edward had not choice but to stay inside. It was utter torture, nothing to do, so he cracked open a book and began to read.@Edward Edwards
@Avery McCall
Edward put down his books on the desk, grabbing one and opening to page as the instructor had said. He took a quick glance at the girl again, this time recognizing her as the quidditch player. During his time here he found that there was such things as Magical Sports including, dueling, broom-racing, and quidditch. And Quidditch was definitely his favorite sport by far, he actually planned on signing up, he pushed his long brunette hair out of his face.
"Hi, Im Edward Edwards," he whispered to the girl in a quiet voice. "Your part of the Quidditch team right? I think I've seen you, you're really good... What's your favorite professional team?"
He faced forward to look at the teacher while he talked to not arouse suspicion...

────────────────────────────────────────The day had been moving along at a steady pace. Lessons hadn’t felt too tedious as of yet, generally interactive and engaging for the young students. History of Magic, though. Despite the likelihood of it ever being admitted out loud as a firm zero, it may very well be Avery’s least favorite class so far. Not an entirely rare occurrence, she found, especially amongst the younger years. Sure, it was all extremely interesting information, it just wasn’t as…magical as the other classes. It reminded the muggleborn a little of classes back home.
Having taken to an empty seat a few moments before the day's lesson began, the first year allowed her thoughts to drift. Homework, the ball, Quidditch, a certain Ravenclaw, even more homework. It was only as another student dropped into the chair next to her just before class was to start that she focused back in.
Glancing to the now occupied seat beside her, she was greeted by the sight of a brunette boy in particularly oversized robes, the yellow accents marking him as a another Hufflepuff. Avery offers the boy a quick smile in greeting before looking back towards the front of the room as the professor ramped up to begin class. Books were retrieved and opened as instructed. She tried to pay attention; she really did. It was just more of a struggle to engage in the material than she’d like.
Thankfully, she’s saved from her own struggle by the sound of a quiet voice from beside her. An American accent, huh. Still trying to seem as though she’s paying attention and taking notes, Avery glances to the side at the boy once more as she listened. Realization that he recognized her from the Quidditch team has her face flushing slightly. That’s not something she thought she’d get used to anytime soon.
Following his lead in remaining facing the front of the class, a quick note is written on her parchment even as she flashes the boy another small smile. “Avery McCall, pleasure to meet you Edward,” she quietly greets, the Irish accent weaving through the words. “And I am, second string beater.” She thinks back on their first game. Talk about trial by fire. “Thanks,” she starts, a bashful chuckle breaking free, “I’ve still got loads to learn. Lots to improve on, but I enjoy it so far.”
The question gives Avery a brief pause. She wasn’t entirely sure if she had a favorite team yet. Granted, she’d not even heard of Quidditch prior to a couple of months ago on the train ride here. “Oh, uh, well…I’ll admit I haven’t seen much of the professional teams yet. My family are muggles, so I’m still pretty new to…all of it, really. But,” she trails off for a moment as she tries to recall some of the books she’d picked up in her spare time. “If I had to pick right now, probably the Kenmare Kestrals.” Had to have some Irish pride, after all. “How about yourself?”

"Hi, Im Edward Edwards," he whispered to the girl in a quiet voice. "Your part of the Quidditch team right? I think I've seen you, you're really good..."
He faced forward to look at the teacher while he talked to not arouse suspicion... The girl smiled, flushing slightly, she followed his lead, and whispered back,
“Avery McCall, pleasure to meet you Edward,” she said a slight Irish accent making itself known in her voice. “And I am, second string beater.”
"So cool, and nice to meet you Avery, you see I'm planning to go for a Keeper, it reminds me of a goalie in soccer, I'm good at that," he smiled largely though he continued to look forward, he probably looked like a loony tune.
“Thanks,” Avery said letting out a bashful chuckle. “I’ve still got loads to learn. Lots to improve on, but I enjoy it so far.”
"You're just being modest, do you have a favorite professional team?"
“Oh, uh, well…I’ll admit I haven’t seen much of the professional teams yet. My family are muggles, so I’m still pretty new to…all of it, really. But,” the red haired girl trailed off before finding herself. "If I had to pick right now, probably the Kenmare Kestrals.”Edward nodded respecting her opinion, he knew that to be the official Irish team. “How about yourself?”
"The Magpies," Edward said with hesitation whispering, they were a Scottish team, they definitely were one of the top picks, he knew this. There was years of wins under their belt, you could not know who they are. "I know it's basic but they're good! It's alright I understand too, I'm pretty new too all of it too."
He smiled reassuringly, he wasn't sure if she was what everyone called a muggle, like himself or had just started getting into the sport.
"What do you think you wanna be when you grow up? When I was younger I wanted to be an actor, but I probably will end up being a cop or soldier, you know? Helping people..."

──────────────────────────────────────── The revelation that the boy was interested in joining the Hufflepuff team draws another brief smile. “Oh, that’s great, best of luck with it! Keeper seems like a fun position.” The comment about football (she's successful in fighting off the urge to wince when he calls it soccer) gives her the impression he must be a muggleborn as well. The more the merrier! "It definitely seems pretty similar to goalkeeping, absolutely. So long as you're not afraid of heights that is," she adds.
Avery finds herself nodding along with his immediate answer of the Montrose Magpies. She'd certainly come across the team in the little she's read so far, it was hard not to with how many league titles they had under their belt. "They're a good team, can't argue with you there." At his next question, she falls quiet for a moment to think it over. Her fingers tap idly atop the table. "Helping people is always good! I'm not really sure for myself anymore. The whole 'magical world' surprise kind of opened up a lot of options I haven't really looked too much into yet."
Stretching back in her chair a little, Avery scribbles a few more short notes down onto her parchment. "Before I might have gone with, like, a vet or something. Now?" Her shoulders lift in a subtle shrug. "Something with magical creatures could be fun. Depending how Quidditch goes, I definitely wouldn't mind trying for a pro team either." The sound of pages being flipped prompts the girl to reach for her book and flip to the next page, only briefly glancing at the contents. "Do you have a favorite subject yet? Y'know, aside from..." she trails off with a smirk and a small gesture towards her History of Magic book.────────────────────────────────

She took a long pause pondering the question, it was a tough one though it was one people asked you your entire life. It must be the fact that knowing what you want to do means you know who you are, and sadly a lot of people didn't know who they are. Edward never really thought to much about... Anything! He was smart and curious, but he didn't think to much, he was sort of impulsive.

He nodded. "Cool," he hadn't thought much about magical careers but that's because he wasn't too concern about them, he didn't know why he hadn't thought about it, but for some reason it didn't interest him, unless there was a magical acting, cop, or soldiers, then maybe.

Edward had to cover his mouth in order not to laugh, only letting out a little PPFFFT. Edward didn't even have to think about his response, it was like he had no filter to his words, everything he said he thought and everything he though came from his heart
"Like you I like animals a lot, so my favorite subject is care of magical creatures... It's the most adventurous one I believe... What about you?"

────────────────────────────────────────Happy the joke managed to land, Avery allows the smirk to widen a fraction. She keeps her eyes fixated on her measly collection of notes to keep from joining in on the boy’s battle against laughing aloud. The first year does allow for a quiet snort of amusement to slip through, though. She listens in to his answer, offering up a nod at his choice.
Avery takes half a second’s pause to mentally run through the list of classes. “Probably herbology, honestly. My family runs a small farm, and gardening was something I kind of grew up enjoying.” It had usually been a task she was relegated to alongside her mother when she was still too young to help out her older siblings and father with some of the more intense work. It had evolved over the years into something akin to a routine between the girl and her mother, part of the reason she was always closer to her mother than her father.
Thoughts beginning to drift into territory she didn’t want to dwell in during a History of Magic lesson of all things, Avery taps her quill a couple of times on the paper and watches the small splotches of ink spread. “Other than that I’ve enjoyed potions even though it’s hard. And flying, obviously,” she states, smiling as she glances over towards Edward.
“Have you had a chance to check out the other sports yet? Dueling or broom racing? I still need to go and watch some matches at some point, they sound interesting.” And perhaps a little terrifying. But then again, Quidditch wasn't much better. Bludgers were little terrors.────────────────────────────────

"Like you I like animals a lot, so my favorite subject is care of magical creatures... It's the most adventurous one I believe... What about you?"
She took a quick second to think it over.
“Probably herbology, honestly. My family runs a small farm, and gardening was something I kind of grew up enjoying.”
"Groovy," Edward smiled scribbling down a couple notes in his notebook. "I have a friend, she lives on a farm too, her name was @Ciel Saskia, she likes cowboys a lot... My Mom likes gardening, but I never really did it... I mean, I did chores such as pulling out weeds from her garden, but I don't think that counts... But that's cool..."
He suddenly could smell the freshly cut flowers, roses, lilies, and more galore! Edward had always been a fan of flowers, he couldn't help but laugh a little about a memory...
...
It had been a cool afternoon, 5 year-old Edward was playing knights in the open fields that stood behind their small home. He had borrowed his mother's umbrella using it as you would use a sword, he was sure he had seen it on Television somewhere. The sun had began to set turning to a brilliant array of blue, yellow, gold, pink, red, and orange. It was a painting of beautiful warmness and extravagant nature to it's fullest. His mother called him in to the garden, she had been growing rose bushes for a while now, and finally they were in full bloom, beautiful luxurious scarlet petals that glowed in the sunset's rays, covered in dew drops from the previous night's rainstorm. Edward was astonished by the beautiful orbs of perfume that nature created.
"Hello Roses!" Edward had smiled at them, they were one of his only friends, his Mother had told him that they were alive just like people, they moved too, just very slowly. She told him, that they listened to what they said, and talking to them nicely would make them even more beautiful. Edward had started talking to the rose bush everyday, and liked to believe the bush talked back.
He loved the rose bush dearly, but his tiny world was shattered when his mother brought out pruning shears and SNIP! Cut on of the roses, Edward had bawled all day, screaming, "You Killed Them!" It must have hurt, right?
...
“Other than that I’ve enjoyed potions even though it’s hard. And flying, obviously,” Avery stated, smiling glancing over towards Edward. “Have you had a chance to check out the other sports yet? Dueling or broom racing? I still need to go and watch some matches at some point, they sound interesting.”
"Flying and Potions are always good, but no... I haven't gotten the chance too, yeah me as well! I really need to watch them as well... I heard that their good, if I don't get into the Quidditch team maybe I'll go for broom racing... Maybe we could see them together?"
But before Avery could answer, the professor announced the end of the class lesson, gathering a loud assortment of books, chairs screeching, and students chattering as they walked out of the class. Edward quickly picked up his books preparing to go to his next class. He turned to look at the lanky girl with short red hair, grinning.
"It was nice to meet you Avery! Hope we run into each other again!" He waved before setting off, disappearing with the crowd of students.

────────────────────────────────────────Avery offers up a subtle nod as she listens, smile still present but faint so as to not arouse suspicion. She didn’t know much about cowboys beyond what she’d seen in a handful of movies, but she could certainly see the appeal. They were definitely intense, though. “I can’t say I know much about cowboys, but they seem interesting. I think tending sheep is more my family’s speed,” she jokes, grinning.
“But yeah, I feel that. Pulling weeds was my big job when I was younger, kept me busy while she did the actual work. There’s this like, weird satisfaction once you finally get them pulled free I feel like.” Was it weird? Perhaps. She wasn’t entirely sure, but it still kept her entertained with one of the more annoying aspects of gardening. She’s just glad she wasn’t banned from helping the few times she accidentally pulled up actual vegetables instead of weeds. “Kinda miss it now that I'm here, but at least we're plenty busy most days.”
Avery takes a moment to glance over at the boy after jotting down a couple of notes to try and research more about later. She listens quietly, but just as she moves to say something in response the day’s lesson comes to a rather noisy end. Flipping her book closed and rolling up her parchment alongside Edward, she rises from her seat. Gathering her supplies precariously in one arm, the first year offers a returning wave. “Good to meet you as well, Edward. Have a good day and see you around!” She nearly loses her bottle of ink as she sets off with the wave of retreating students, carefully readjusting everything as she strides towards her next class.
