Quidditch Hufflepuff Vs. Gryffindor- Fall 2022

As Ethen continued his preposterous songs and continue to try and annoy the competition, his eyes searched for even the faintest glint of the little winged snitch. The sooner he could spot it, the more chance he had to escape unscathed. Getting ready to start singing even louder, Ethen took a deep breath in preparationand didnt even noting the incomming ricochet. As he was hit, there was the immediate gasp and wince of pain but his hands tightened on the broom to keep him on. The unexpectedhit had been painful but he still had a job to do. Cursing to himself like a pirate, Ethen refocused his mind on the task at hand.

Atlas narrowed her eyes as the action erupted quickly. It seemed like it would be as aggressiveas ever and she hoped each of her teammates would find a way to make it through. Smiling and pumping her fist in celebration as her teammates scored, Atlas then scanned the field to see what the two seekers were up to before flicking her head back to the quaffle. As Atlas watched one of the other team's players getting ready to strike, she smirked and prepared her defense. However, the moment Atlas moved in response to the airborne quaffle, she knew her angle was ever so slightly off. The Quaffle sailed through the goal posts and Atlas let out an irritated curse even as the culprit was eradicated. She knew she could do better she just needed to focuse and not allow such basic mistakes.

Keepers Catch
10% chance to automatically block an attempt to score a goal as long as the Keeper is in the goal area. If an attempt to score has been blocked through this effect, the Keeper may as a free action hurl the quaffle at the opponent team in an attempt to injure a player of their choice (it would be recovered with a quaffle grab action) and treated like a bludger or pass the quaffle to a team mate. This must be declared by the Keeper if either of these free actions are to be utilized.

Evasive Maneuvers
Harder to hit on average, 10% on auto-dodge chance that anything that targets this wizard automatically misses. This is rolled separate from the attack roll.

Stanley had become lost in his own thoughts and was not paying attention to the game. He swung his feet back and forth while slightly humming to himself oblivious of everything happening around him. Stan never really zoned out but he was a lot more at ease this game so found it easier to slip out of reality.

His mind flew all over the place which included him making scenarios about Big Ted to wondering what his dad had eaten for breakfast. The noise around him was blurred and his eyes were slightly hazed over. Stanley was at peace while chaos just happened around him.

Quinn had watched things play out as one of the possibilities he predicted. Well at least in regards to their aggression. At the bludger and attempted blatch of his teammates, Quinn let it rip. Putting everything he had into this hit, basically blasting Haley off her broom. He'd check on her after, but he was also blatched off his broom. It was annoying, really annoying to always be out in the first round. He needed to rethink certain strategies but he was already forseeing ways to improve and really show out for the next match as he fell.

"You know...I kinda missed this feeling." He slammed into the ground groaning as he was officially out of the match. His first priority was making sure Rita was okay. He was used to this but she wasn't. He knew his team had this, after all they were Hufflepuffs and he was always proud of them.

As the whistle trilled its song against the air, Marshal's sober mindset turned to grim conviction. Nowhere amongst the gathered crowd had he met those clouded irises, and it seemed the time for searching was to be left in the past. But a decision was made; even if he could not see her, perhaps she could see him, and if so, then she would see something worth watching.

Solemn resolve paired with the precise, powerful capabilities of his new broom, his gaze locking onto his target even as he swerved to intercept a screaming bludger. Yet, on this day, one target could not satisfy his desire to make an old captain proud. Seeing another opponent near his primary, he gauged distances, calculated angles. It was the most math one would ever see the Gryffindor perform, and likewise the most deadly.
Arm cocked back, he let loose a vicious blow that would copy the intended results, emotionless expression unchanged as Badgers rained from the sky.

Seizing two quaffles, Atlas practices a little carpe diem abandoning her post in order to post points in the name of team Hufflepuff! What a brilliant play! Overcoming the unsettling and terrible obstacles presented by her own team mate (specifically Howard and his dhampirism), Serena digs deep within to find resolve and manages to overcome her nerves for a couple grabs, shots, and points despite her single fumble; which should elicit that warm feeling of having accomplished the impossible.

As team Gryffindor makes their penalty laps, Akari is left to her own devices on whether or not to ponder the string of fouling that led to this moment in time. Was it the reason Gryffindor was now so far behind on the score board? Probably. Finnegan and Haley on the other hand are likely too busy dodging a revenge blatch from Howard to notice the points headed in the wrong direction. Good thing there's still a chance to turn this around, they'll need to get their heads (and brooms) back in the game if they plan to win!

Intent on continuing Gryffindor's reign of slaughter, Marshal takes another crack at Ethen only to find Avery more than confident in the role of defender. Return to sender style, Avery sends that thing back where it came from, so help Marshal, addressed to check himself before he wrecks himself. Howard follows this up with a blatch, avenging the loss of his co-captain, but perhaps just having a little fun with them. Regardless of his intentions, Finnegan and Haley both have plenty of time to react, and no plans on sticking around to find out why Howard is so interest in their flight path, dodging him as the referee motions a penalty for the attempted foul. Pax on the other hand seems to strike it lucky, claiming another Hufflepuff chaser for the count and catching Avery off-guard while on guard duty. En garde!

Unphased by his mathematical boundaries, Ethen continues the search for the snitch. This time it is not his keen-eye, but rather his dedication to the search which proves successful in spotting that flittering snitch. Elena on the other hand gives up the guff, changing tactics by putting her skills of observation to good use, spotting the snitch like a natural. The only question now is who will lay hands on it first? Hufflepuff may have the lead, but Gryffindor continues to cut them down to size. Only time will tell who reaches the summit of victory.

Alma whipped her head over from the chasers who had scored to Avery who had just redirected Marshal’s bludger back at him. She had only looked back just in time to see another bludger heading right in her direction. She yelped and tried to dodge, to no avail as it slammed into her and sent her flying off her broom. This time, she was not able to climb her way back on. Best birthday present ever is a bludger to the side, am I right?

“Oh no, no, no no no!” she panicked. She had barely done anything for her team, and it sucked to be out when she had just gotten in. Well, she could only congratulate her teammates and say Good Game to the Gryffindoor players (and maybe give Finn a hug) after the match. She braced herself for the impact of the pitch below, approaching it at a fast speed.

She seriously had a broom racer to chew out for lying to her about this not hurting.

Pax watched with their jaw clenched as Hufflepuff scored more with ease. They could see the scoreboard rising for only one team, and it was frankly more than a little irritating. Furthermore, they could see the new beater that had risen hovering around the Hufflepuff seeker, even managing to redirect the bludger back to seemingly severely wind Marshal.

Using that anger, they swung their bat and knocked the bludger straight into the newest Hufflepuff chaser to the pitch. It gave them some sort of satisfaction to see them tumble from the air, and that grin only widened as the bludger ricocheted to hit Avery, though unfortunately not quite hard enough.

Readjusting their grip and position on their broom, they prepared for even more chaos.

A lot was happening, Hufflepuff kept scoring and Haley and Finnegan were busy doing the penalty lap. Haley knew she had little strength left, but she had to pull herself together and so she tried to gather all her strength to give it her best. She concentrated on her breathing, tried to ignore the pain and prepared to get back to her broom.
