Ow! I'm sorry!
Klaus, a little tall for his age and all bones, was clumsy. He often walked without thinking about where he was going, and would frequently remember something suddenly and turn right around, causing a traffic jam of other students through the hallways at Hogwarts. This time, however, he forgot something important. His wand. Yes, that was the most important thing of all! He couldn't remember where he had left it, and he was scouring all over the grounds of Hogwarts. But still, he couldn't find it anywhere. He was at the point where he was searching places he hadn't even been, out of sheer desperation. It was a shame that first years didn't learn the Summoning Spell yet, as he was sure that would have come in handy.
The Slytherin boy was in a full panic, now. He was pacing around in the courtyard, his lit-up Remembrall, rolled up parchment, and bits of potion ingredients bouncing around in the pocket of his cloak. His brown hair was falling into his eyes, which he moved to scoop away with his hand, but it just so happened that he ran right into another student before he had the opportunity to! A Gryffindor girl! He ran into her so hard that he stumbled back, almost falling backwards. He was lucky that his satchel was closed–he felt his books jostle about.
"Merlin! I'm so sorry!" Klaus exclaimed. He recognized the girl, they must have shared a few classes, but he didn't know her well. "I didn't mean to!"
At least she was another first year... he dreaded to find out what happened if he had just rammed into a seventh year who woke up on the wrong side of the bed!

Ow! I'm sorry!
Packing her protective gloves into her bag, she watched as her fellow classmates poured out of Herbology class, and noticed a boy with soft brown hair leave his wand where he was sitting. He left the classroom as Lexie swung her bag onto her back and called out. "Hey!" The boy was gone, into the sea of students, eager to leave first period. She went over to the wand and inspected it-- light wood, about an inch shorter than her own and and a few specks of phoenix feather. Lexie grabbed it, determined to give it back to the boy.
Leaving Herbology, Lexie scanned the Courtyard for the brunnete, her more than average height coming to use. After a couple seconds of looking, she found him and made her way towards him, trying not to push and shove other people.
There seemed to be some kind of disruption in the crowd, but Lexie continued on until she crashed face first into someone. She fell to the ground, as the other person's things scattered all over the ground. Lexie looked up and her eyes widened. "You! I have yo-" The boy interrupted her and started apologizing profusely.
She got up and helped him pick up his things, and started walking to the edge of the Courtyard to get out of everyone's way, pulling him with her. "Don't worry about that! Here, you left this back at class," Lexie explained and handed him his wand. "Nice to meet you or, well I guess, more like nice to run into you. I'm Lexie."

Ow! I'm sorry!
Klaus stumbled, but only slightly. When the Gryffindor girl's reaction wasn't anger, he relaxed his shoulders and offered a smile. The girl–Lexie–was holding his wand. His wand! His smile got even wider as she handed it to him. Immediately, he felt much warmer, and his anxious heartbeat relaxed. Simply having his wand back in his hands made him feel much better. He pocketed it quickly, before he could lose it again, and stepped to the side with Lexie, out of the crowd. Why there were so many people in the Courtyard right now, he didn't know, but he was thankful for her quick thinking.
When she spoke, he nodded his head. "Lexie! My name is Klaus," he said. "Thank you so much for finding it! I was so worried."
The November weather was pleasant. Scotland was more north than he was used to, the air was fresher, somehow. It must be because Hogwarts was out in the country. Since he had lost his breath in the kerfuffle, it stung when he breathed in. He felt the blood rush to his face, soft red dusting under the spattering of freckles across the bridge of his nose. Despite this, he put on a happy face, wanting to make a new friend; and he also wanted to communicate his thankfulness for her action.
"Where did you find it?" asked Klaus. "I swear that I checked everywhere."

Ow! I'm sorry!
"Herbology. Finding your wand was easy, finding you was the hard part," she said cooly. Lexie watched Klaus's face turn pinkish, probably from the cold. It was a cool day, unsurprising for October but nonetheless miserable. Lexie found it astonishing how some people enjoyed the cold, especially since you practically couldn't go outside and therefore couldn't do anything fun. Unless you were a bookworm or something, which Lexie definitely wasn't.
A cool gush of wind passed the two of them, and Lexie was done standing in the cold. "Wanna go inside?" Though they barely knew each other, she was keen on finding out more about this forgetful but interesting boy.
Crowds of students continued to walk by, as teachers and prefects told them to slow down causing a slight ruckus. A few less than attractive names were called, and some poor boy got hit by a dancing feet charm. Yikes, Lexie thought, never a dull moment here. She turned her attention back to Klaus.
As she thought about it more, Lexie felt like she knew him from somewhere. Something to do with anthropology, perhaps or maybe it was history. Thinking about it gave her the start of a headache, so she brushed it off for the moment, and waited for a response.

Ow! I'm sorry!
"Oh, did you pick it up?" replied Klaus, not really expecting an answer. He had checked the classroom and asked the Herbology professor, but they hadn't seen it. As wind beat down at the two, he nodded at her suggestion to move inside. It was the middle of the passing period, so dozens of students were out and about. Though it was crowded, it was still cold. It would start snowing soon, in the next few days, he thought.
In the crowd, someone suddenly started to jig! Oh no, guerrilla tactics! People were yelling at each other and he recognized one of the Slytherin Prefects enter the kerfuffle. Klaus gladly moved out of the way with Lexie, suddenly warmed by the inside air. The hallway was surprisingly less crowded and he loosened the scarf wrapped haphazardly around his neck. He also took off his mittens and shoved them into one of the pockets of his robes, smiling in a friendly way.
"Well, I really appreciate you grabbing my wand," said Klaus. "I was sure it was gone forever. And I was so scared to post my parents for it! I mean, it's only been two months of school..."
He shook his head, as if clearing the thoughts like a broom sweeping the dusty cobble floor of the hallway they stood in. The girl he stood with was tall for their age, and they stood eye-to-eye, which was relieving. He had hit a growth spurt early and had to get all new clothes this past summer. His mother was expecting him to hit another one soon, and she kept marking his height and the date with a quill against the wooden column on the hallway that connected their kitchen to their dining hall.
"Well, what class are you off to next?" asked Klaus, rubbing his now-bare hands together. "Want to walk together?"

Ow! I'm sorry!
"It was just lying on the grass and I saw you drop it," Lexie replied, and imagined losing her own wand. That was something that could easily happen, she could be very forgetful and her father never let her forget it. "Absent minded Alex," he would say as she would try to hide the scowl that always appeared on her face.
Back in reality, she smiled at Klaus's thanks and told him, "No problem!" Lexie gave him a wider smile as he asked her to walk with him. Not wanting to shove through people, she led him around the crowd instead of through them, and finally stopped near the end of the Courtyard. "I've got Divination in less than half an hour. What about you?" she asked.
The cold touched her uncovered ankles, and Lexie regretted not wearing socks that day. Normally, the pants she was wearing would offer some protection, but a recent growth spurt had rendered most of her clothes short. At least the sudden height had stopped temporarily, but she Lexie was taller than most of her class and nearly half of the second years. Klaus seemed tall for his age too, but she didn't want to bring it up on the off chance he found it rude.
Longing to go into the warmer buildings, she fought off a shiver and looked expectantly at Klaus for his answer.
