Quidditch Slytherin vs Ravenclaw - Fall 2022

Cecily watched chaos unfold as she cruised around the perimeter of the pitch on her shameful penalty lap. Usually she at least had something to show for her penalties but this was worse than that even, especially as she watched Lavinia tumble towards the ground from a bludger that had targeted the triple-headed dragon. Her friend would still be on her own broom if it wasn't for Cecily's terrible mistake. This may haunt her dreams for years to come. Terrible, game-losing, injury-causing mistakes tend to do that. Not only that, but Damion had also sacrificed himself for River's sake, who was now once again playing musical brooms with her saviors. So, not their best performance, but there was still plenty of time for the Eagles' comeback. River was still safe...ish, so that was a start. Hopefully Ebony and Winnie were up for the challenge, because Ravenclaw would need all hands on deck for this.

Grgrgrgrrr!, Jorah's intestines gurgled and spasmed. Ohhh noooo!, Jorah thought. A fiery pressure was now brewing from down under and this meant only one thing, today's forecast was chocolate rain. Ohhh Noooo!Jorah squeezed his glutes with all his might creating an airtight seal between him and his broom. This was bad, real bad, he should not have eaten all that spicy chicken right before the match. So distracted was he by his inner conflict, that Jorah completely missed his opportunity to bludger the enemy Seeker. Jorah closed his eyes and fought the urge to open the flood gates. Slow and deep breathes were key. He imagined gently rolling waves crashing against a sandy beach on a warm sunny day with clear blue skies. While the game raged on at Hogwarts, Jorah's meditation had transported him to Fiji, a small island nation in the South Pacific, over 11,000 km from India. The mental redirection had worked for now. The storm was delayed as he felt the abdominal spasms lessening. Exhaling with a sigh of relief, Jorah opened his eyes and got back into the game.

There was not much Cash to do when the next round of the game rolled in. Still, even though they were doing nothing at this point, that does not mean they slacked off. Cash was a first-string. And as a first-string always alerted with the game at play. The bludger whizzed by them and just their luck Erin was not so far behind the little iron of cannonball.

With a resounding crack bat of hers, she hurled the ball towards Damion. And just like the affordable that is Erin Ryan, her aimed smacked dabbed hit Damoion and the strike sent Damion to his doom. Cash cheered internally when they saw Damion fall from his broom to the green grass of the Quidditch Pitch.

He was one less problem to be worried about. While Cash busied watching Erin in action the dinging indicated someone had managed a score and did not lose with them. Cash looked up to the scoreboard. Slytherin has taken the lead by forty points so far and they believe their teammates could achieve the ultimate prize which is winning the whole thing.

It is about time we won against those pesky birds the green eyes thought internally. With that mindset in mind, the Cuban descendant leans their body forwards to whiz up on the air. They are so ready to break Eagle wings some more if that want it needs to take for Cloud Cobras to come out as a victor from this war.

Three for one, Erin would take aim and send a deadly shot towards the trio on Damion's broom. The girl was if nothing else, a powerful enemy to make on the pitch. The lead would hit the boy and with a terrible noise and the three of them would plummet. Sylvain would dart to their rescue but he was only able to save one, River. They always did protect their Seeker, River wouls prove to have none lives.

It was more by luck tor happy coincidence that the Bludger bounced off the three and and came off towards Sylvain as he rushed to the Seeker's rescue. River was a seeker and she was a risk as long as she was in the air.

This time she would not look away, she needed to know if the girl crashed onto the pitch lifeless. She needed to know if it was time to move on.

She would twirl her baton in her hand and look back towards Dan. Third time the charm?

As Judith was still continuing to keep an eye out on the game, she started to feel a bit anxious. She hadn't seen a glims of the Snitch at all and her team was having a rougher time. Slytherin was getting in lead, And for her there was nothing she could really do. As she was trying to cheer her team up excited.

Dan was delighted by his team. They were devastating Ravenclaw, both in points and on the field. He even got to make a Chaser goal! Boy did he make sure to ham it up for everyone watching. He looked at Jorah to taunt again, but he just... sat there. Sat there staring at nothing. Did Dan's earlier taunt affect him that badly?
Excellent. The team was pulling together, and Dan was ecstatic. He directed his team with a confident smirk. They would not be so easily taken down this time.

xxPoints, indeed. Maggie grinned as she sank her first points of the season, gripping the front of the broomstick and jerking it slightly to make a loop back around to observe the crowd. Her adoring fans, her subjects, whatever you might call them. Maggie soared out over the center of the pitch, eyes darting this way and that as she watched the action and bustle around her. Hm. What to do, what to do.

Given the last year, Flash could be forgiven for getting excited as the plays began to pile up. Avery and Burnett would be talking to him, but he would continue to look at the sky, and react along with the flow of the game. A small gasp as someone fell, right before they got caught, the surprise when the Ravenclaw beater managed to hold two rescued eagles on one broom. He could still multi-task though, and would pay them mind despite clearly being half distracted.

"Well, so far I don't think I'll need to." Flash would answer, taking his broom back and laying it against his shoulder. "They're dodging fantastically out there. Look, one of the eagles even hit their own."

Avery's optimism put a smile on his face, his spirit contagious. Burnett had the opposite vibe, clearly still afraid of bludgers as he had always been. Flash knew Burnett to be contradictory in many ways, yet he couldn't reason why he would risk it. As he tried to say Avery's enthusiasm made up for his, Flash would shake his head and interrupt. "No excuses, Burnett. Many before you have taken a hit, you can rest assured you'll be fine at the end of it. If you only focus on the worst case scenario, you won't be able to see the pathway to victory."

It was a bit of a haughty pep talk, coming from a benched player to another benched player, who would both likely earn points for their house by sitting on their bums and chatting. That was how Flash was though-- too serious. He would go right back to watching the game, not paying much mind to Avery, Percival, and Burnett with their continued conversation.

Oooohh Percival Rainwood, that big bully! Avery hoped he would... eat dirt! The stinking, manure-filled type with... slimy maggots! After all those glares on the bench and the fireworks prank on the train, it felt so good to rub in the boy's face the fact that his old roommate had ditched him for Avery. Not that he and Hanako were particularly close or anything, but maybe the Japanese boy would warm up to him -- who knows? Our boy was ever over-confident about making new friends (but we all know he often over-estimates himself).

Rainwood seemed to think that Hanako would never be on his side. Oh? At this, Avery lifted his chin with a childish pout and straightened his chaser's uniform, as if his pride were seriously hurt. Was this a challenge? If it were, Avery would not back down -- no, he would not! Completely ignoring Rainwood's demand to stop talking, Avery continued. "I bet if Hana-chan ever saw us in a tussle, he would help me instead of you. I think there's a reason he didn't want to room with you this year, right? You must've done something to upset him. So, I doubt he'd help you," he reasoned out loud, having no filter from mind to mouth. Gosh, looking at Rainwood's angst on the bench was always such an infecting mood-killer, but of course, our boy's denseness was also a contributing factor to the words he spouted. As such, Rainwood's attitude wasn't the only reason for his self-destructive prodding.

At Avery's words, Jack responded with an unsure smile and a half-forced laugh. Avery smiled hesitantly back at him before barking out a nervous laugh back at Jack. Oops, he really shouldn't have shared that extra tidbit about the Hospital Wing, right? "Yeah!" he responded too loudly, desperately trying to make up for his previous slip-up. "It was just a few days, and you know what? I was almost grateful for the accident, because my friends came to visit me with flowers and chocolate and whatnot, so you feel like a king. Only in quidditch would you get to be blown out of the skies so hard that your friends would all come see you at the Hospital Wing." And... and what could be better than that? Surely, Jack would feel better now? Sweat beaded on Avery's forehead.

As for how that happened -- well, if Jack really wanted to know... "Oh, Ravenclaw has, like, these killer Beaters. They're like, strong as hell. One smack of their bat, and those crazy bludgers could easily knock a player off their broom in one shot! So, when the bludger connected with my head, I was a goner, man. Total blackout." That sounded a bit brutal, didn't it? "Anyways!" he quipped, changing the subject, "Your keeper's gear should take a lot of the impact! And hopefully you'll be able to get some air time once in a while! Don't be too sad if you can't play this match. You'll get the chance to fly eventually," he reassured his dormmate, because every benched player desperately yearned for their chance in the limelight, right?
