As Sarah walks around the castle she sees the lake in the distance and starts to walk towards it thinking about how often she would probably be around the lake. She planned to do homework around it and read around it as well because of how pretty it is and the breezes it would give off in the heat. She also wondered if they had ice skating in the winter on the frozen lake because that would be a very fun thing to do. She makes it to the lake and feels the cool air coming off of the lake on her face and sees movement in the water below. She knew of some of the creatures in the lake like the giant squid and the merpeople and was excited to learn about those creatures. She knew she had to wait a few years until she could take Care of Magical Creatures anyway so she had time to do her own research as well. The movement in the water from the creatures intrigued her as well and she wanted to know what else was below the surface of the dark water. She decides to keep exploring and walks back towards the castle to see what other places she could find.

Whenever Crystal found herself missing home, she would take a walk by herself around the castle grounds and daydream about being back home with her moms. She also often wondered if her moms missed her, too.

On this particular day, she wasn't so much missing her family specifically. It was more of a sense of loneliness. She didn't miss any one person in particular, but rather people in general. She found that if she just wandered around outside, she might run into another student totally by chance. A chance meeting such as the kind she was hoping for today was far easier on her anxiety than having to muster up the courage to go intentionally talk to someone would be.

On the way down to the lake, Crystal passed a few Slytherins who looked to be in their fifth year, but they did not appear to be the most approachable people, so she kept walking. By the time she had made it down to the lakeshore, she still had not come across any students that she had deemed "approachable enough" to try to talk to.

Sitting on a rock with her back to the lake, Crystal watched the path that she had come down here on, waiting for a student her age to make their way down to the lakeshore. But nobody came.

Just as Crystal was getting ready to get up and leave, she spotted a girl walking down the path. The girl looked to be about Crystal's age. Crystal could barely make out the Gryffindor house colors on the girl's robes because her long chestnut-colored hair was blowing in the light wind and obscured large parts of the girl's sweater, making it hard to see exactly which house crest was printed on it.

As the girl nears the end of the path, Crystal gets up off of her rock and begins to walk slowly towards the path, hoping silently that the other young girl might take notice of her and invite Crystal to walk with her.
