Closed Battle of the Boys pv Nick (Quinn), Colin, and Pea

Colin wasn't surprised at how foggy and hazy the place had become --- hadn't Henry put paid to his and Avery's little duel last year with the same spell? "Heh-heh!" Colin laughed as both he and Pea hurled spells at poor Nick --- whoever the heck he was! Pea shot incendio at him, but unfortunately, Colin's flipendo got there first and blew the poor lad off his feet! "WHOA! Sorry Green Beans! Didn't mean to blow him away without you!"

Colin looked over towards the side and saw her standing there, watching them fight. It was Clair! He could see her through openings in the smoky air. "CLAAIIR!! That was some race! You were bloody brilliant!" He smiled towards the Ravenclaw girl, all the memories of the wild broom race coming back to him now. And God, wasn't that girl graceful in the air and beautiful too! It was all Colin could do to turn away from her light blue eyes and long brown hair!

Colin turned to Pea: "Green Beans! She's even cute eating popcorn! Whoa. I really want to meet her when this is done --- she's a brilliant racer. And beautiful too!"

And then it struck Colin --- is this the same girl this Eddy was on about? Was Clair his girlfriend before? He wondered what Eddy did to land him in his present despondency --- but more, if Clair would ever be interested in, you know, a fellow broom racer! His heart began racing and hammering against his chest. Colin smiled at Pea, showing her all his fangs!

"OWOOOOOOOOO!!" Colin was eager to fight!

So far this duel was going rather well! Colin was still somewhat confused why this Eddy started the duel, but well, you underestimate a Slytherin at your own peril! Eddy wanted a fight and Colin would finish the job even if it meant dying! And his partner, Pea --- or Green Beans as he'd just called her --- was brilliant! He looked over at her briefly. She was really cute too! Hair even paler than his own, when it wasn't all dyed for house pride! He smirked. Colin liked the nickname 'Green Beans' and if she didn't mind, he'd call her that.

Clair actually spoke to him from where she was watching the duel. Colin was surprised! He knew that he was smitten by her --- but he had no reason to believe that she even knew who he was. He felt proud that she thought he was a good racer too! He blushed a little when she said it. He thought she must be a pretty nice girl too --- she could have thrown the Slytherin loss in his face after all the trash talk they'd shared! But he knew that was part of the game, and now that the game was done, so were the animosities.

Colin was rather dissatisfied that Eddy had managed to dodge his tarantallegra. He'd've loved to see his opponent dancing about! Ah well. Pea's flipendo was spot on and she knocked Eddy's partner, Nick right onto his backside! Now that was some fine spellcasting. "Green Beans, that was brilliant! Maybe --- maybe we can spar some time? I think that would be fun!"

Pretty as Pea really was, Colin's eyes couldn't help but stray back over towards Clair. His heart began hammering again and he felt really nice all over! Kind of adrenaliney but mixed with a sense of awe as he thought about this Clair girl. He wondered if she'd ever like to talk or hang out together!

Colin's mouth opened up without any input from his brain and he felt for sure his heart would stop altogether! He called over to the broom racer: "Hey Raven Clair! Maybe we can race together some time! Just you and me? A friendly practice!"

Oh my God! thought Colin as he felt his chest and face burn with the heat of an intense blush! Did I just say 'Raven Clair'? Oh crud! She's gonna laugh and think I'm such an idiot! Why Colin laddie! Why? Just stick with the duel and gush about the lassie later!

So it was with an embarrassed smile that Colin turned back to the duel, readying himself for the next round!

Green beans.

"Green Beans! She's even cute eating popcorn! Whoa. I really want to meet her when this is done --- she's a brilliant racer. And beautiful too!" That is what he calls her. Green BEANS!? first that Avery boy who calls her bean in the train, now another one of her fellow Slytherin calling her assortment of beans! THe AUDACITY! she swore if she was planning to lose this duel, she would blast Colin with her spell too. "Do not call me green beans!" Pea said angrily at Colin. Ignore her, please keep calling her that! lol "And focus Colin, you could meet her when we finally take them down." Pea continues while looking at the Ravenclaw girl, who Colin admired so much. She's cute- but she's not Pea. Wonder what that boy sees in her.

But before Pea thinks further, she already going back to her dueling stance. Wands at the ready, pointing at her target. Colin was targetting Eddy again, while Pea points her wand at Eddy's partner. Her spell blasted the boy again, and even better he got knocked down horribly and struggle to get up.

"Green Beans, that was brilliant! Maybe --- maybe we can spar some time? I think that would be fun!" Pea rolls her eyes again at the mention of her supposed nickname, but he is complimenting her on her spell-casting skill, she guessed, she could tolerate him just for this once. "I said st- ugh never mind- yes you aren't half bad too Colin. A sparing session is-" Pea thinks if this is a good idea, considering she still didn't know how she feels about Colin. He is nice- maybe even too nice for a Slytherin, but.. a little sparing session would be fun- especially if she could blast someone with her wand again. "Alright, let's plan our sparing session after we win this shall we?" Pea smirked and go back to focus on the duel. Pointing her wand at her target again.

Pea was really fun to duel with. Colin wondered if she'd ever join Slytherin's team. He felt she'd be really good at it. Well! Back to focusing on Eddie and Nick and how he and Green Beans were going to destroy them.

And then the strangest thing Colin had ever seen happened. Colin was never really quite certain what got this duel started in the first place. Obviously, Edward was upset. When Colin found him, he was on the ground crying. And then all of a sudden he was up and ready for a fight!

And now, just as Colin and Pea were preparing to strike again --- Edward just straightened up and put away his wand. Colin was surprised, but he still held out his own wand. Was this some kind of tricky move? Colin broke his own stance and stood straight as well. But just for a brief moment. "Wh---" Thinking better of it, Colin renewed his attack posture. It didn't look like Nick even noticed, and he wasn't sure if Pea had noticed either.

Was Edward trying to trick him? Get him to break stance, then jam some disgusting hex down his throat? No, Colin wouldn't fall for that! But --- he felt weird all the same. The boy didn't really smell any different. But his body language was all weird. He just looked at Colin, and Colin looked at Edward. After a few breaths, it became clear to him that Edward wasn't going to trick him.

Colin broke his stance again. For real this time. He stood up, quickly looking towards Pea to get her attention, and then back towards Edward. The other boy did something Colin didn't expect him to do. He didn't say anything --- no apologies for calling him a freak, no explanation to Clair (was he really her boyfriend even?) --- he just looked Colin in the eyes with an expression that Colin thought must combine defeat with hatred and rage. Colin returned his gaze, steady and defiant, but not angry or anything.

This battle of the boys wasn't going to be won today with wands. Colin was certain he could have taken Eddie down; but he felt in his heart that Eddie had already lost. Somehow, he must have done something that Clair didn't like; Colin didn't know and couldn't guess. He could only read the defeat in the other boy's eyes.

Colin could have cast lumos at Eddie and he'd've collapsed, and a strong flipendo probably would have sent the poor lad through the quidditch hoops! But no. He put up his own wand. He wasn't going to take advantage of an unarmed boy that way. He waited to see what his opponent was going to do. There was nothing else for it. And this is what got to Colin, and he knew in his heart that he'd always remember this moment.

Edward lowered his eyes, turned, and without a word said, walked away.
