Immortality, Sucks!
Prologue
Somewhere near The Casino, in the dead of night, a prominent figure strolled the city streets. A terrifying, yet stunning creature was able to strike fear into the minds of simple common folk that was unfortunate enough to tread their path. She was as fearsome as an angered god. Her’s was a mesmerizing body. It was adorned with clear silk-white skin and a long wispy head of soft ginger hair. Her eyes are a fiery shade of gold, able to afflict insanity into those that dare to gaze upon her with…cruel intention. This creature was my mate.

Chapter 1: What the Bloody Heck!?
I, Zerlina, am just a simple hustler from the dark corners of the Slip, technically the Black Market for Daemons. I worked alone, selling anything that could get me enough money to the Libido Complex. No need to explain what goes on in there. It was a regular Wednesday night and I was returning to the hotel, my home. The abstract-colored sky began to rumble like an automobile in a race. Clouds began to form, and rain was nearing. But here in The Perplexity, we did not get water droplets. Instead, we got oil, and I did not enjoy spending the rest of the night washing oil from my hair.
In a desperate attempt to avoid that, I quickly dashed into the nearest building. Fortunately, the lights were on and the doors unlocked. When I closed the golden-rimmed doors, I used so much force that a large crack spread across the stained glass in the doors. I frowned with guilt “Well, I hope they got insurance. Whatever that is.” A simple daemon joke. I took a moment to observe my surroundings, inhaled the perfume-ridden air, and noticed a front desk. I thought “ This must be a hotel or somethin’.” The front desk was very tall, at least 7 feet. Much taller than me since I was only 5’8.

Chapter 1, continued
I imagined the clerk’s possible height, very abnormal indeed. But in this world, daemons come in various shapes and sizes. I removed my vest and noticed middle-sized stains of oil. On instinct, I blurted out “Crap!” followed by a loud echo. I was a bit spooked but then calmed my senses and decided to look for anyone possibly there. The front desk was empty so I figured I'd check the upper level of the building. Two curving stairways surrounded the desk. As I placed my foot on the red steps, it felt as if I was walking on a cloud (Most Daemons don’t wear shoes). I slowly advanced up the stairway, admiring the paintings on the sand-dollar walls.
Here in The Perplexity, art tells a distinct story of something or someone. Kind of similar to human art right? Unfortunately, I had no clue what this art was about so I won’t bore you with the details. I continued walking up the stairs when I collided with an unknown figure. I lost my balance on the steps and began to lean back. But before I knew it the figure I bumped into grabbed my scar-ridden hand, preventing an embarrassing collapse. I was so shocked that I didn’t notice the figure’s hand around my waist. I quickly released his grip on my hand and waist and a glanced at his face. While doing so it felt as if time had frozen.

Chapter 1, still continued
He had eyes of emerald green and wonderful black hair. His face was decorated with freckle-like dots across his cheeks.
While feeling completely mesmerized by his features, I began to slowly lean back again. “Whoa there! Are you okay? I didn’t think I bumped into you that hard.” He interrupted my fall again with another grip on my hand. At that moment I snapped out of my trance and realized what was happening and let out a small shriek, “Ack!” and fell forward onto his broad chest, sending us both into the soft steps. “ Oh my gosh! I am so sorry! I didn’t notice you-” He let out a goofy chuckle “Ha! It’s okay, I wasn’t paying attention either. I’m Thaddeus. You?” “Um, Zerlina.” My tongue suddenly felt numb, his beauty makes me feel obsolete, in a good way. I slowly lifted myself up from his chest and retained my balance, as did he.
“So Zerlina, what brings you here?” He inquired. “Well, I kinda needed to avoid the rain. So I ran in here for cover.”
