Slytherin vs Gryffindor: Match 8
Much to Astrea's surprise, her well-cast wind jinx split upon its culmination - directed into two separate jets of wind barrelling towards their opponents without prior magical intervention. In her extensive (and quite often repetitive) research on the legal spells available to them on the duelling piste, the wind jinx's possibilities had been noted but never before in Astrea's duelling career had such an occurrence presented itself so blatantly. A peculiar feat of magic... It was not quite like spreading a spell but instead required seemingly no significant extra effort on her part. Instead, it was simply an already present extra 'push' in imitation of such prowess.
Quietly, she made a self-note to experiment with replication at a later date. Was it up to chance, skill or sheer coincidence? What would deliberately splitting an already split wind jinx result in? If this was their first round, what did this entail for future castings? The possibilities to ponder over were endless. It seemed that one learned something new every day.
The matter of research would have to be shelved for the time being, however, as Astrea took up her usual role as primary target #1. The winds of ill-fated change aimed to hinder her performance, whipping the hems of her billowy robes about like a crashing shoreline, but Astrea would not let their opponents' early advantage last. Break she will not - bend she shall if she must.

After a very interesting first round, the next one quickly started. Apparently, both teams decided to leave the wind jinxes behind them and move on to fog charms. It seemed like Ileen and Alan shared the same mind as they both created a fog that they send to their opponents. The fog that had been created by Alan would cloud the snakes and make it harder for them to see while Ileen's charm targeted the Gryffindors.
While two out of the four duelists were creating annoying fogs around the other team, Sylvie aimed her wand at the oldest Slytherin on the stage. The spell that left the tip of the lion's wand was extremely impressive, it was perfect just like the spell her dueling partner had cast the round before. Though the spell looked amazing, Samantha would advise the Gryffindor to focus some more on their aiming. After all, this was already the second amazing spell from them to miss its target in this duel. Or maybe the missed spell had something to do with Astrea's great dodging skills. It seemed like she had decided to focus on not getting hit instead of aiming her wand at one of the opposing duellists.

Slytherin vs Gryffindor: Match 8
Wow. This was a much harder duel than the ones Ileen had already been in. Normally it had been clear after the first round who would bring that home with the one exception that included a certain Gryffindor… but not this one. Alan and she had the same idea and sent fog at the other team. Ileen tried to get a glimpse on her partner to see how they were doing. Still caught in the wind she had been holding up pretty well… she really hoped that they would bring it home. It was unusual not to be a target this time but she knew herself how quickly that could change. Hopefully she would be of more use soon.

Slytherin vs Gryffindor: Match 8
Alan not only managed to cast a thick fog over the other side of the piste, but failed to look through the fog cast on their side of the duel by Ileen. Apparently he and he Slytherin girl had similar ideas in regard to strategy. Hopefully that wouldn't mean that the others were impossible to hit properly now. If that were the case, well then they would have to figure out a Plan B.

Nicky was trying to ignore the fact that not everything was going as planned as usual and they would probably have to improvise. She remembered the strategies they had thought of for the fog situation, focused on the opponents the best she could and prepared to cast her next spell.

Slytherin vs Gryffindor: Match 8
In the span of seconds, two separate clouds of thick, black fog burst forth from opposite directions and settled into one blanketing mass of smoke. The entire piste would find itself encased, as it seemed both teams were putting their strategical money into vision-hindering gambits. Astrea, whose immediate vicinity had quickly been disturbed the moment fog had hit their side of the piste, focused not on the art of casting, but on evasion - an action well-decided. It was her previous duelling experiences that had trained her well to dodge a jet of silver light cutting through the dark fog, no doubt the first of many to come.
Still the unlucky victim of a well-cast wind jinx, she was unwilling to become an easy target, even with their unanticipated cover. If one squinted through the fog, there seemed to be faint human-shaped outlines signalling the vague status of each team, but any true claims would be dubious at best. With all four of their positions shrouded in plausible deniability, the stakes of an early advantage seemed ever higher.

ReducioAstrea: [d20: 3] no hit
Ileen: [d20: 14] no hit
Just like last round, Astrea seemed to focus on dodging the incoming spell and Samantha understood her decision. The Slytherin was still fighting the wind, which would luckily soon lay down, and her sight was clouded by the fog. In order to get rid of the fog, or at least a part of it, Ileen cast the wind jinx at the thick fog. Due to the spell, the cloud became more transparent, yet it still blocked part of the Slytherins' view.
Ventus was a pretty popular choice this round because one of the lions had also picked the spell to aim at a cloud. Wand aimed at the storm cloud above her head, Nicky blew the rumbling cloud over to the other team. The only duelist to aim their wand at another living human being this round was Alan. The captain focused on Astrea, casting the Pressurized Water Charm at the student. Sadly for Alan, the snake had great dodging skilled and his spell missed.

Slytherin vs Gryffindor: Match 8
Nicky aimed a perfectly cast ventus at the cloud rumbling above them and forced it to fly other to the Slytherin side. Out of the corner of her eye she could see that Alan's spell missed the target but they still had a few rounds ahead of them and she was sure her partner's aim would be better once the fog cleared up. And the cloud was gone now, that was a nice bonus for their team. She didn't want that monstrosity above their heads, it would only become a distraction and their team didn't need that. They needed to focus on the duel and win. And that was precisely what they were going to do.

Slytherin vs Gryffindor: Match 8
This seemed to be more a match of strategy than the normal ‘hack and slash’ - was this because they were in the senior league now? Ileen liked those duels way more where she could manipulate the weather and the vision. It was less against her healer nature that always made her feel guilty in those moments.
Through the fog it was hard to see her opponents or even her teammate. She glanced over to the side to look for Astrea but Alans spell was still way too powerful. Even her ventus had only removed it a little bit.
The young Slytherin spinned her wand and took a broader stand. No sign from her partner was a good sign. Probably she had been spared by any spells so far. She herself was a bit confused by the lack of attacks coming her way. She was not used to that. But better not to get distracted. Gritting her teeth she tried to prepare her next move.

Slytherin vs Gryffindor: Match 8
Alan would try to his the Slytherin girl but she had been prepared for being under attack by the other team and therefore dodged. However Gryffindor too managed to get away without any damage this round, which should mean they were still in the lead. Now they just had to hurry and get the snakes knocked out.
