Date and Time: October 27, Early Morning

Tesla hated mornings more than she rightfully should, considering how early she woke up on a daily basis. She'd always naturally woken up early, but since her change it had become even harder than before to sleep in late in the mornings. It was a blessing, since she was always on time to classes and usually had time for breakfast or even a run, but it was just as much a curse when it was the weekend and she really wanted that extra hour of sleep she deserved.

Her skin was crawling with the urge to get outside and run that morning, so with a glance at the enchanted roof of her dorm to ensure it wasn't raining outside, she crawled out of bed to get ready. It may not have been raining but it sure was foggy, so she decided to leave her rat Argentum curled up cozily next to her bed, and pulled on a light yellow jacket that matched the same gaudy color as her hair, and a similarly bright yellow bandana. Maybe the bright colors would help energize her for the day ahead.

It was thankfully mostly empty on the grounds, normal for this early on a school day, so Tes let herself skip and hop along almost as much as she jogged like a normal person, just to enjoy the way it made her muscles stretch and work in a more engaging way. She was starting to feel like she might be ready to slow her pace and tear her way through a stack of breakfast sausages in the great hall when someone ran up besides her, startling her a bit.

It was a pale girl with chestnut brown hair, and she looked like she'd been out running just like Tes if the way she was sweating and panting was any indication. Since Tesla hadn't exactly been pushing herself, and had more so been getting energy out and stretching her legs, she wasn't nearly as out of breath but she knew her cheeks would be flushed all the same.

"Hiya! You surprised me there, I don't normally see anyone else out at this time. I'm Tesla Stone, but you can call me Tes," she introduced herself, keeping up her slower jogging pace to see if the girl wanted to run more, or just wanted some company. Tes wouldn't mind either way, and it was easier to talk this way as well.

Lexie was immensely glad the blonde girl didn't straight up ignore her and acknowledged her, introducing herself as Tes. Her pace slowed down, like she was asking whether she wanted to sit down or something, but Lexie kept going - she needed the exercise, but appreciated the offer. "Pleasure to meet you, I'm Alexandra, but everyone calls me Lexie," she said, before she could stop herself. Lexie tried not to tell people her actual first name (she found Alexandra extremely boring
and an "old person name") but she had slipped up. "I'm sorry, I thought you heard me coming up, I've been told I move like a drunk ox," Lexie laughed apologetically.

Tes had bright blonde hair, that shined as the sun reflected off it. She was surprisingly tall, at nearly 5 foot, but still a few inches shorter than Lexie. Her face had dozens of light freckles all over her face, which had barely any sweat for someone who had been jogging, and she had a yellow bandana around her neck, matching the pale yellow jacket she was wearing. All in all, Tes looked like the most joyful, bright person Lexie had ever met.

As the two first years continued to jog, Lexie continued to answer Tesla's questions. "I try to jog everyday, but you probably haven't seen me since this is the first time I've gone in the morning. It's better, I think, since there's no one around, besides.." she trailed off and gestured at Tes. "Do you run here a lot?"

Though she was a bit irritated when she got up that morning, Lexie was glad she did. The Grounds looked especially pretty with the greenery glistening with dewdrops, the crisp morning air and the sun lighting up the grey sky making it look that perfect blue. Not to mention the friendly girl she had met.

Tesla took Lexie's hint and kept jogging, settling into the more regular pace the other girl set. She wasn't usually one for just a jog, but it was certainly a lot more fun with someone else and not just her own aching muscles. Her introduction was surprisingly formal, and Tes definitely thought that the name Lexie fit the sporty girl next to her more than Alexandra, chuckling a bit at her drunk ox comment. "Well that isn't nice of them to say! I've been told I'm not the most observant person in the world. That just means an actual drunk ox could probably sneak up on me!"

Tes couldn't help but notice how much taller than her Lexie was, not used to having to look up at other first years. She may not be the tallest person, but she was at the very least used to being tall for her age. This girl was tall enough to be a second or third year! Tes wondered if it would be impolite to ask her if she was really a first year.

She was surprised when Lexie explained she ran everyday. She couldn't help but shake her head at the thought. That sounded like it took a lot of self control! A bit more than she had, that was for sure. "I can't make myself go run everyday, I really just go when I need to burn some energy. I haven't been able to go as much as I'd like because of the weather getting colder, so this morning I woke up super early and couldn't make myself stay in bed. Just needed to be outside, you know?" Tes glanced around at what she could see of the presumably empty grounds, and the path they were running on, "I definitely prefer to run when people aren't around. Since I normally run later in the day I'll sometimes go around the side of the castle since there's not a lot of people that go over there. There's not really any paths or anything, so it's not the greatest for running or sitting or anything, but I like the privacy," she chose not to mention she liked the privacy so she couldn't be seen sprinting back and forth and clambering up into trees like a spider-monkey. "Where do you usually run?"
