Spanish was an interesting language, not one that Raul could speak, but the melting pot nature of Castelobruxo and the relative proximity of the language to his own Portuguese tongue meant that he could understand it well enough. Sure, certain dialects escaped him, the lisping of Peninsular Castilian for example was far beyond his grasp, but with a bit of a struggle and a strain he could bring himself to understand a majority of the New World dialects. At least those south of Dorian gap. Fortunately, three years of studying Quechua at school leant him something of an advantage in deciphering the girl’s Peruvian accented Spanish, and in due course he found himself barely hesitating in responding.
“I see why the headmistress declined the invitation to attend, yes, is what I mean,” Raul responded, his answer in reference not only to the sorry display below but their own non-attendance, “Although, I suppose in due course we’ll find ourselves taking part, such is the nature of things, really.” He craned his neck toward the outcrop of foreign flags, “Too much publicity not to. Makes sense to have us scope it out, shame that Uagadou didn’t have the same idea.”
For once, he meant it. The African school was just about the only other institution he could bring himself to hold a modicum of respect for. A noble institution with a noble approach to magic, unlike the bastardised Anglo-Russian influence that had seeped throughout Europe. Even Beauxbatons with its rich history of artistry seemed to have fallen under the sway of the lion and the eagle.
The boy opened his mouth to make another snide comment, but found that it died in his throat. The scene before him quite literally stealing his voice. He was not familiar with anime, after all, he was a pureblood, and no self-respecting pureblood would watch a muggle cartoon, let alone one from abroad. Thus, he had no frame of reference with which to reference as the students from the six assembled schools transformed.
“By the Blessed Virgin,” he mumbled, before swiftly saving face, “At least they have some style, no?”

The Ravenclaw had of course been looking forward to the first task. Had she been on the Hogwarts team Clair may not have had the same feelings about it.
For one thing though, Clair was happy she had not landed on the team. After all she had no idea how to play chess.
Clair was so interested in what was happening with the part goblin that she had not noticed another Hogwarts student sit down. When he spoke she jumped just a little. "Oh hi" she replied, the Ravenclaw nodded "Yeah I saw that." She replied, her face showed her disgust at how the possibly part goblin had been treated. "I wonder why they chucked him out, it could not have been only because of his possible part Goblin-ness could it." Hogwarts had always been very welcoming to half breeds, it was what made their school different from the rest, sometimes looked down on by the rest of the schools. Maybe the other schools had pushed for the poor man to be chucked out? The girl could only hope he had been causing trouble so that there had been a good reason to throw him out.
"I'm Clair by the way. Second year Broom racer."

Stupid. Why was he so dumb? Just a few days prior to the whole Hexwizard tournament present- he decided that he would consider going to see what it was all about. Vlad put on his shark costume, and darted towards the Ballroom- groaning with anger. There were people- cheering on Durmstrang? On Ilvermony? On Hogwarts? BEAUBAXTONS? Mahotokoro? Seriously? They don't need to cheer for such atrocious teams!
He tried to summon the "beast" inside him, and turned towards the tall jerks he saw in the room. "YOU THERE! What do you think you're doing? Cut the chatter and start cheering on the number one school in the entirety of the universe! KOLDOVSTORETZ!" He yelled at the boy that was seemingly talking to someone- (@Nicholas McCowan Raul.)
He swore that Koldov would win, and anything he could do would be great. He already knew of the severed bond between Durmstrang and Koldovstoretz- and if he needed to sever any possible alliances- then so be it. But his school was a priority. His school deserved the respect. Finally, he began addressing everyone in the room. "If you do not support Koldovstoretz, I wouldn't drink water later- or butterbeer..." The boy snickered, He wanted to give an implied purpose to previous words stated- and perhaps give the illusion that the water or butterbeer were poisoned.

Did Flash care about the Hexwizard Tournament? Not really. As far as rooting for one's team went, he was often a very proud Slytherin, due to being a long time member of the Quidditch team, but he could not really muster much enthusiasm for such massive displays. What would it really mean for Hogwarts to be the best school? Only controversy, really. Flash kept his nose out of petty squabbles, and there was nothing more petty and pointless than the derision of muggles and half-breeds. Had he not been raised by a muggle and a squib, and met so many impressive and empathetic half-breeds in school, he might have had a more narrow understanding, but as it stood, the constant back-and-forth of arguments over their right to study alongside other wizard was asinine at best, and fatal at worst.
Flash could do little himself, his brother Valerius was the one who was fighting for squib rights ever since he graduated from school, by integrating into their government and putting on fundraisers for awareness of social rights issues. Their sister was the squib after all, and she was more brilliant and accomplished than any of her brothers. The fact that magical ability and pure blood monopolized status and respect was infuriating for sure, and Flash could only cope with that frustration by being available when needed. He had defended a werewolf once, and would do so as many times as was called of him. However, he would not devote his life to it as Val had. Simply put, he had his own problems.
So why would he endure a loud and obnoxious match in the midst of his own tragedy? It just so happened that the Hogwarts team was filled with close friends of his. He could have simply waited to hear how the match had gone the next day, but it would have made him feel sad to be so absent. The likes of Opeila and Alan would be noted as sincere friends ever since his first year, and Opeila and Dealla had both been involved in trying to free his eye from the clutches of the evil hag Marion. He had even watched Dee's rat for her while she suffered under the coma caused by the blood she gave. He owed them both a great deal, more than he could ever repay, but support would be the least of it.
Besides that, there was Percival Gray and Wyatt Stark.... Starkley? who were both regular acquaintances from their shared dorm. He had no particular fondness for either, but Gray was starting to grow on him... a bit. His apology to Dorion might have been under the effect of poison (and possibly a hag slug?) but he had become increasingly tolerable the longer he was partnered with Santario. Serena as well would be someone he did not know personally, but who had been a figure of admiration for him when he first started at Hogwarts. As an aspiring Seeker, he had been able to watch her at her greatest, and had been astounded by her abilities. Even now, he could feel himself becoming excited to see her in action once again, even if it wasn't on a broom.
As for Howard... Flash did not like him one bit. He played with Falentra's emotions-- building her up only to tear her down. No doubt it was Howard's fault that Flash's protective 'older sister' was absent this year, and it was no surprise that Flash dearly missed her. The dhampir was irresponsible, belligerent, and at least at one point, a minion in service of the hags. If anything, Flash wanted to make sure he did not do anything that would endanger his friends. Him being the Hogwarts champion raised questions in Flash as to the goblet's validity, even if it were not for the same reasons the newspaper was crying about.
Flash would take a seat in the crowd, though he would try to stay away from the loudest and most obnoxious cheerleaders. He sat near the platform that housed the Hogwarts game, as he had zero interest in any of the other matches. He did not need to size up the competition, only wish the best to his close companions. He would not shout nor hold a sign, but if any of his friends looked his way, he would smile and wave, though it was doubtful he would bring them much calm when he was on the sidelines and unable to help them in any way.

@Serena Towers
It was time to see what all the fuss had been about. Hugh's figure overshadowed anyone he passed in the stands. As always, he opted for a place in the back. Keeping a bird eye's view on all that transpired in the ballroom, both in the game and the audience. There was bound to be a plethora of mixed reactions, with these foreigners thinking they belonged here. Thinking they were somehow up against whatever Hogwarts had stood against. What they had survived so far. Hugh wondered if any of their adventures had been similar in the other schools. He doubted it. Pampered and pretending, that's what they were.
Though, he supposedly should not judge them so harshly. There are some good eggs in the batch. That was undoubtedly what someone like Serena would have believed. Yet he would bet there were plenty of them she didn't like. As unlikely it was for him to ever align himself with her optimistic perspective regarding that, he respected her for it. He had mainly come here for her, after all. He adjusted his copper and iron helmet as he locked eyes on her position.
Within the blink of an eye, he watched her outfit transform to all-black and something from a long time ago. The book seemed rather inconvenient for a battle, but it was a game with odd rules as far as he had understood it. The giant's voice rumbled with pride: "Give 'em hell, Towers!" His voice roaring across the room.

Well, it was finally happening. The biggest wizarding event in George's lifetime, at least, was going to happen right here at Hogwarts. He wondered why it had to happen now, amid curses and hags and other such unsavory business. But of course, he wasn't the naive child he had been when he first arrived to the school. The reason why things went wrong so often at Hogwarts was not a streak of bad luck, or a generational curse, but rather active interference. Saboteurs, monsters, agents... and the school had thrown its doors wide open to welcome them. Ministry officials (corrupt), journalists (dishonest), and legions of foreign students (annoying) crowded the Ballroom of the historic school. Ah, well. If there was going to be some kind of fresh disaster, at least there would be cameras this time.
George had dressed with that in mind. Looking more neatly groomed than he had in years, he had his hair trimmed neatly and combed on top of his head. His use of makeup was subtle rather than performative, the most pronounced application being a dab of concealer under the eyes to reduce his sleepy eye bags. The sight of the half-goblin being escorted out before the official start of the event raised his eyebrows. He'd never seen the house elves eject someone like that... unless it was George, from the kitchens.
He felt his shoulders hunch up and a cold shiver ran down his back when the doors were shut and then sealed. It couldn't happen again - not with so many people here - so many students from different schools. But what if it were the squibs? If you wanted to get rid of as many magical politicians and figureheads as possible, this ballroom would be where it happened.
His eyes squeezed shut tight and he stretched out his fingers to keep from clenching his fists. One, two, three... He counted in his head, trying to derail his train of thought before it reached its dark destination. Maybe things were okay. Maybe nothing bad would happen.
Distracting enough from potential acts of international magical terrorism was the fact that Howard and Alan seemed to have come in as a pair. Wait, what? George blanched as he realized that although he'd believed Howard's special person was some random girl, it could very well have been Alan. They were the same age, and they were on the team together... George felt his cheeks burning red. Alan had just meant to take George to the ball as a friend. It was ridiculous to imagine anything else.
The transformation of Alan into a priest took George by surprise. He was quite the literal bishop. The outcome of the outfit change was far less exciting than the change itself. Perhaps he would be doing confession later and George could give the turbulent priest a piece of his mind for how he'd been playing with his heart lately... but probably not. The heartbreak was all in his head anyway.
Like most of the other Hogwarts students, George chose a seat closest to the Hogwarts game to watch his friends. He waved his arms and smiled at @Serena Towers, hoping his star broom racer would see him cheering. The other Hogwarts team members would get similar smiles, except for Alan, who wouldn't be getting anything - instead, George gave one little thumbs up to Kolya (@Avery McCall). Not all of the away team was bad... but no doubt some were. He'd just have to keep his eyes open.
"...Who's Howard's special person, by the way?" George asked to no one in particular, looking at the students sitting near him.

Surely Alec's little stunt, starting a conversation with the first nearby neighbor had caught her off-guard(@Clair Fernandez), she quickly adjusted and carried on to continue the conversation. It was a relief to have found someone who reacted the same way as him towards it all, and he nodded letting out a breath of air. “I would hope not. Whatever it is, all of it is kind of sketchy, given the circumstances.” The 'circumstances' were the other schools, who seemed to hold a far different opinion from Hogwarts. One Alec didn't quite get. It was hard for him to understand anybody's reason for any such discrimination when the half-breed students attending Hogwarts were just as much of a person as Alec was. He tended to forget how privileged he was in that regard when Hogwarts felt like a safe place away from it all. Not as much now with the other schools around. The other introduced herself and Alec offered out his hand to shake hers. “Call me Alec, um-” He paused to remember everything she included in her introduction and smiled when he continued. “Fourth year, duellist.” He loved duelling. He was a fourth year, he'd been apart of the duelling team for so long it didn't feel like he was allowed to consider it a hobby anymore.
The game had just begun, and Alec's eyes flickered over to watch as each of the players would transform into the costume for their piece, now on the board. He was about to ask Clair a question, when something else caught his eyes instead. A kid bursting into the ballroom in a shark costume(@Clark William Baird-Carter). “What in the world?” Alec whispered, mostly towards himself. His eyebrows furrowed and Alec watched as the kid starting shouting at one of the Castlebruxo students. Alec snickered as he tried to grab the attention of everyone sitting off to the side in the stands, and made a vague threat. The Gryffindor rolled his eyes, “Oi, mate! Maybe you would hear more cheering for your school if you piped down and do it yourself!” Alec would put his hands around his mouth to amplify his voice, shaking his head as he finished.
Alec's eyes would light up. When he noticed his friend, George, enter and take a seat. He looked to Clair in order to offer some sort of explanation. “Duty calls,” he would manage a smile and wave goodbye before bolting off to join George. The other seemed to be in the middle of his own thoughts, asking a question aloud as he arrived.
"...Who's Howard's special person, by the way?"(@George Henry)
Though George had looked off to those nearest to then, Alec was now in the position of being behind him. Oh well... He was still as qualified to answer. “They said it was Falantra Black when he was announced champion. Dunno if she's here or not, but it doesn't seem like it.” Alec spoke trailing off, he glanced towards the chessboards then back towards George. “Do you think Hogwarts will do well?” Alec asked, a sudden and rather unexpected question from a person who was not rather enthused on the triwizard tournament to begin with. Alec would lean in close so he could whisper to George, “you know, Alan doesn't look half bad as a Bishop,” the Gryffindor teased.

Irina was feeling really excited. This was her first year at Hogwarts and the first time she would be able to see the Hexwizard Tournament. She didn't knew what to expect from it, her father only told her briefly about what happened in his year at the magical school, but at his time it was called the Triwizard Tournament and things did not ended well apparently. So she was a little bit apprehensive about what would she found at the Ballroom.
Early that morning, she had exchanged owls with her quill pall, Lily Brown a first year Gryffindor, and was no other then Colin's cousin. This new acquaintance had made her feel like the universe sometimes likes irony and for sure nothing is a coincidence. Irina sympathized instantaneously with Lily, like they both were meant to know each other, she shared with the girl the same sense of humor and the same taste for trouble, so she decided too invite her to the tournament, that way they could finally met and have fun at the same time.
When she arrived at the Ballroom the benches were almost full with students from every school, at the center, she realized, were three human size chess boards, Oh! Are they going to play chess? she thought joyfully, she always liked to play chess with her father. Although, she actually is not that good at it, but she really enjoyed their nights playing the game by the fireplace. Looking at the seats, she searched for Lily, she actually never had seen the girl, at least that she noticed, so she just looked for a girl with her description. Not seeing no one that could fit what Lily had told about herself, Irina decided to went for a seat and wait there for her friend. While there, she contemplated all the decorations that had been provided for that occasion, she liked the colors, silver and black and the sparkling glitter making it even more magical and elegant.
One of the vendors was passing near her, she heard him shout, "Butterbeer! Get your butterbeer! By the mug. By the pint. Get your butterbeer!", she looked around for where his voice was coming from, Am I able to buy one?, she thought getting all exited with the idea, as an eleven year old she had never tried one of those drinks before, since she can't, technically, go to Hogsmeade and her parents hadn't allowed her to try it yet. She bit her lip while pondering about the idea, Well...one day are not days right? And I really want to try it!, so she got up from her seat and waved at the vendor so he could notice her, "Hey! Mister vendor...here please!" she called out above all the others students' voices, some of them, the oldest ones, who think they are "Oh, so important!" looked at her in shock, some frowned and narrowed their eyes at her not feeling at all amused with her being so noisy and loud. But she couldn't care less, she would finally taste butterbear!
The Vendor at last got to her and asked her a fortune for a drink! She looked at him, her mouth open in disbelief at the absurd price he was asking, then back to her purse as she reached for the right amount of money to pay it... She grabbed the drink from the men's hand and took a sip from her mug...At least is delicious! She reckoned. During the time she was waiting for Lily, representatives from each school were making their way into the Ballroom...Hope she doesn't take to long to arrive! I don't want her to lose even a bit of all of this! she thought looking at the entrance trying to see the red-haired Gryffindor.

ㅤ──────────────────────| ── | It was Sunday. That might not have meant much as there were Sundays every week. But this Sunday was quite different. This Sunday happened to be when the first task of the Hexwizard Tournament would take place. That in turn meant it would be a huge extravagant celebration, with numerous high officials coming to witness the event. Wizarding folk from all over the place would attend Hogwarts, specifically for this particular reason. Unfortunately, that also meant there were be tons of bodies within a relatively small space. Kim was not looking forward to this. If only they could have held the first meeting outside. Keeping it inside was going to most likely make him freak out after a short time. But he couldn't not show up, this was the biggest event in wizarding history because there never had been a Hex-wizard tournament before. Only the Tri-wizard tournament was well known. Kim also couldn't help but want to witness this piece of history. But it was going to be hard on him to deal with the crowds and the invasion of personal space. Thankfully, at least he wasn't going to be going alone. Regina had been his first choice, but she'd been bitter about not being chosen as champion and had opted not to come. At least not right now, which was a shame for him. He'd kind of wanted to come with her. Kim's next choice would have been Sophia but... his expression darkened and he banished that thought. The orange haired boy didn't want to think about her. Precious was his next thought, along with Eun-ji and Pax. But Kim had misgivings when it came to asking people to go with him. He didn't like the feeling it brought because of his past traumas when it came to 'asking' for things. If neither of them approached him on the subject matter, Kim would assume they already had plans of their own. He also didn't want to feel as if he was getting in the way, they had their own lives to live. It wasn't as if he mattered much to them. Or so he thought. Which left him only 1 choice. It had to be one of the members of his 'gang', those who he'd been with since the very beginning stages. Eliminating Sophia from the group and also Sage, as Kim didn't feel as close to Sage as he did to the others, he was left with a choice between Bailey, Colin and Taizu. The latter was not a good choice because Taizu seemed just as nervous as Kim would probably be and the two of them freaking out together would not be a good scene to witness. Colin was a good choice and the two had gotten way closer during the summer due to a certain incident that had occurred then. But there was one problem. Lately, Colin had been into a girl, Clair Fernandez and Kim wondered if he was going to try and go with her. He would have loved to go with Bailey of course but Bailey was extremely popular and Kim was fairly certain she would have been going with a huge group of friends to spectate at the tournament. The last thing he wanted was to go with a large amount of people. So, the only thing he could think of was to see if Colin was going to go with Clair or if the two of them could go together instead if he wasn't. However, Saturday night, when he was about to send an owl to Colin, he received an owl from Bailey. The contents of which made him raise a brow. She wanted to go with him? Not only that but it seemed as if she was going to be alone with him and not with any other friends! How could that be? Bailey was quite popular! Kim wondered if this was destiny for them to be able to go together. But he wasn't going to question it! He'd written back that he would love to go with her, as long as it was just going to be the two of them. And now the day had arrived and Kim was both looking forward to it and dreading it at the same time. Kim had thought about bringing something with him but had ultimately decided against it because of one simple reason. It was the biggest event of the wizarding year. Naturally, there would be tons of vendors and various different types of foods, sweets, snacks and beverages. There was no need to bring anything extra. Puffie squeaked at him, as if he could read his thoughts and Kim smiled at him. "I know. I know. You're my extra thing that I'm bringing along, don't worry I won't leave you behind for this." He told him and Puffie looked mollified and hopped over to nuzzle his neck affectionately. Kim had donned his usual accessories and had dressed in a black turtleneck, pants and shoes, complete with a long brown jacket with gold buttons. Above the heart area on the left side of the jacket was a lovely gold Gryffindor pin. Kim had brought along his satchel, his normal one, and had filled it with various things. One section had some chocolate frog boxes and a box of pygmy puff treats. Another had his sketchbook, a comb of vanity and some parchment paper and a quill and inkwell could be found tucked away in a small side section, along with an allergy potion and some tissues. Yes, he'd learned this from Eun-ji. It was 11:30AM when he opened the door that led out of the common room and he came face to face with Bailey. A faint smile came to his lips as he inclined his head to her. "Yo." There it was, his trademark greeting that he gave to everyone. If you were waiting for him to ever greet someone in some other manner, you'd be waiting for a very long time. It was a habit by now that Kim wasn't sure he could break even if he'd wanted to. Bailey reached out and grabbed his arm to drag him off as Puffie squeaked out a greeting to her, already liking the girl. Upon reaching their destination, Kim could already hear the excited chatter of the crowds. Despite himself, he could feel his entire body tense. But Bailey was not to be deterred and she pulled him along with her, grasping his hand this time. As she bought two butterbeers and handed one to him, thanking him for coming with her, Kim nodded. He felt... uncertain right now. Not too bad yet. But the crowds weren't bad where they currently were. Kim watched as she bought some popcorn for them to share and then made her way to the stands with him. He took a seat and glanced over at her as she thanked him again for coming with her, saying she appreciated it. A faint smile of his own came to his lips. "That should be my line." Kim murmured, almost under his breath. He didn't know what he would have done without her in this kind of situation. The smells of delicious food wafted through the air and he started to get a bit distracted. Popcorn was good but it wasn't really food. He kind of wanted something savory to go with the butterbeer. Bailey then handed him a marshmallow biscuit. A smirk came to his lips. "Going for the sweets this time, huh?" Kim asked with an arched brow. "What do you think about getting something savory to go with our sweet?" He suggested, wondering what Bailey would think of the idea. The orange haired boy glanced behind them at the vendors that were nearby selling their goods. "Want a hotdog, hamburger or both?" Kim asked, looking back over at Bailey again. It didn't matter who got the food but preferably just one of them would do so, while the other one saved their current claimed seats. Despite his earlier nervousness, Kim had noticed quite a few things going on within the ballroom. Such as the part-goblin having been dragged out and shouting that they were going to regret doing this to him. He'd also seen various higher officials of the wizarding world present and spotted a lot of familiar faces too. Clair and Ali could be seen not far from where he was. Kim wondered if Hana-chan, Avery, Quinn and Faye would show up. Or if they would miss out on the event and wreck havoc in Hogwarts while everyone else was spectating at the first task in the ballroom. ────────────────────── ㅤ ㅤ──────────────────────

.I.
Hexiwizard Tournament. The very words conjured in Colin's mind a state of heightened excitement. He'd heard, of course, about the famous Triwizard Tournament of old and had read some accounts of famous tournaments. But this would be the first time he'd ever witnessed such a grand and glorious event himself!
Apart from the usual activities going on in the school, Hogwarts was playing host to numerous students from loads of different wizarding schools in other parts of the world. And for the tournament, there'd even be folks from the Minstry and other dignitaries present. This fact alone caused Colin to feel more anxious than usual. He knew that not everyone agreed with the school's policies on admitting "half-breeds", which included werewolves such as himself.
The crowd heading into the ballroom stands was immense --- and as Colin himself entered the space where history would be made, he'd prepared himself as best he could to play his part should History decide to play a prank on them all! He hung back for a while, scoping the whole place out. Already, he could spot the places set aside for the Ministry folks --- not just for the UK, but MACUSA and ministers from Japan, France and Russia were here too. Cameras were flashing brilliantly and quills were scribbling madly as reporters described the exciting moments before the great chess matches began.
Colin's ears caught the first sign of Trouble --- some bloke, a Goblin by look of him, was being being hauled out of the ballroom. His imprecations and shouted threats didn't faze the Hogwarts Elves at all! He felt very proud of them for all the work they'd done and how they could handle any situation. Colin's left hand instinctively slipped into his kilt pocket and wrapped itself around his wand. Although excited, Colin had a very, very bad feeling about this whole tournament. If anything did go down, though, he'd jump to and do whatever he could his mates safe.
Speaking of his mates --- he wondered where everyone was sitting! His nose was pretty useless in this closed space. He was being bombarded by familiar and strange smells alike. He knew that Kim had been by here a while ago, so he must be sitting somewhere in this general area. He knew that Kim, very ironically, didn't like crowds. He was, like, one of the most popular kids in the entire school! He was everywhere, active in every club and participating in every activity. And yet, he kept his dislike for crowds under tight control.
He wondered if Sophia would be here. He really missed her a lot. Kim had said she was busy studying. He knew she was a Ravenclaw, but still! He hadn't seen her in a month! Even the most studious of students needed to come out of the library at some time! He also looked around for the Snek Squad. He'd somehow been favoured with four really cool first year Slytherin friends. He was actually kind of proud that they looked to him for leadership. If anything happened at the tournament, he felt like he'd have to protect them.
Then there was Lily, his troublesome little cousin. He really wasn't sure what he thought of her right now. Not since she outed his condition to a boy. He wasn't against telling people about his lycanthropy. In fact, he'd decided that the only way for people to change what they thought about werewolves was to know at least one werewolf in school. But he wanted to tell people on his own terms. Of course, he'd have to watch over the little brat too.
Last but not least was Clair! He was actively looking for her! Colin really wanted to sit with her, so he scanned the stands very carefully to catch sight of the brown haired girl with the icy blue eyes that made his heart leap and dance so much! Ah --- he caught sight of orange haired Kim Aoki not too far away, and Irina a few rows away. And --- whoa! "There she is!" he cried, practically dancing with excitement! "CLAAAIIIRRR!!!"
Colin caught sight of Clair and headed over to where she was sitting. He saw an older Gryff get up and leave. Colin was pretty sure he was a duellist --- and oh! He was the lad in charge of the spin the bottle game earlier in the year! Alec. Thinking about that game brought on a whole wave of memories as well, but at last he'd he'd gotten over to where Clair was and he sat down next to her.
Colin's face reddened slightly as scooched a little closer to her. "Hi, Clair," he said in a low voice. "It's really good to see you here! Is it okay if I sit with you? Isn't this exciting? I love playing chess! But I hope nothing really bad happens here today!"
