Slytherin Study Session

Grrrr.
Jannette really knew how to drive home the teasing! She was like one of those switching boxes on the walls of muggle places that make their lights open and close. One moment she was all into her Dark Arts book and the next moment she was full on teasing him about liking Clair!
Colin moaned.
"♪ OOUUUUUUUHHHHH Cooolliinnn 'as uh crruuuhhshshh, Coooohlllinn 'as aahh ccrruuusshhh!~ ♪"
Colin just wanted to slide under the table and hide. He knew he shouldn't feel that way though --- why should he hide from liking Clair? Last year he wanted to go up onto the Astronomy Tower and shout his feelings for Jarael. His feelings for Clair were far deeper, much stronger. Why was he now suddenly embarrassed? He'd noticed that in himself recently, and he didn't like it. He wondered why he'd changed --- he liked the old Colin better, the Colin that howled for Clair at the feast, the Colin that would shout his love for the Ravenclaw racer!
Colin sat up straight. Both Irina and Violet said his drawings were beautiful. He felt suddenly proud! Clair was a beautiful girl, and he could only hope his drawings did her justice. There was no reason for him to be so crushed by Jannette's singsong teasing. Fortunately, two things happened just then. Irina closed his sketch book and Loops began his explanation of what they were all doing here in the library. Loops grounded Colin, and helped him focus again. Did Irina sense his embarrassment? He was kind of relieved that she at least prevented Jannette from looking at the pictures too closely! And fortunately Violet and Jannette seemed to latch onto his brilliant introduction.
Colin let out a puff of breath, then shook himself like a dog. He felt so much better after that. Colin determined not to collapse under Clair related teasing any more. What would she think? Would she still like a boy who felt embarrassed when people confronted him about her? Maybe. But probably not.
Alright, that's settled, lad, Colin said to himself. There was so much to think about from just the last five minutes! Clair and love. Jannette and being teased. Colin and not being embarrassed. The task at hand. Irina and --- I'll have to have to have a talk with that one, he thought. Jannette certainly didn't look like she was going to faint at the mention of werewolves, she just opened up her book! Rebecca and Violet didn't react either. Interesting.
Well! There's nothing for it! Colin thought!
Colin stood up on his chair, then got up on the table! "WHOOOOOO-OOOP!! COLIN'S GOT A CRUSH!" he cried out. He pumped his fists in the air and shouted her name: "CLAAAIIIRRR FERNANDEZ!!!" Oh my God, that girl made Colin feel so very joyful!! His heart pounded and he could feel the surge of adrenaline the thought of her brought on! It felt so good to just say her name!
He shook himself like a dog again. Funny how that had a bit of a calming effect on him. When he hopped off the table, he crouched in the chair with his hands on the table. He was so excited he could barely contain himself! "Right!" he said. "Loops! Brilliant introduction! That is exactly and precisely what we are here to study!" He leaned in and lowered his voice --- it was still full of excitement and intrigue, but much lower so no mere Gryffs could hear. "Misconduct and Skullduggery! Chicanery and Shenanigans! As my dear and learned colleague here, Dr. Loops, has indicated," he said, nodding solemnly towards his friend, "we already have our keys to extra-Hogwartsical freedom, i.e. and e.g. what is otherwise a.k.a. a Hogsmeade pass!"
Colin narrowed his eyes to see if the three girls were paying attention. Then he rummaged around in his satchel for a moment before drawing out from it an ancient and somewhat grubby looking envelope. It was originally, probably, tan in colour, but by now it was stained, at the very least by ink, and had words scribbled all over it.
"Ladies and gentlemen, what you see before is a most ancient and cunningly crafted artifact! Every bit as powerful as the legendary Philosopher's Stone! Look here!" He pointed out various Hogwarts stamps and notations written upon it in years and decades past. "Found it in the bottom of me trunk last year! Look here, I'll read it: Confiscated this Fourth day of February, 1992 from a Ravenclaw student, Lewis Liam McCoire; signed A. Filch. Argus Filch! He was the Caretaker here at Hoggys back in the day! And look there below: Nicked back from Filch's Office 14 Feb 1998 by a Ravenclaw, Lewis Liam McCoire. That's my Da's handwriting!" He flipped it over. "Even here on the back, this was nicked from Apolonius Pringle when he was caretaker by I think this is maybe my Gran!? Anyway, it's what's inside that brings us five together today!"
Colin's smile broadened. He carefully opened the envelope and withdrew from it an unassuming piece of ancient pasteboard. It was brownish and its edges were smooth and its corners had long been rounded somewhat unevenly. It was covered with ink --- signatures of students now long dead or grown up --- and had tiny holes in it. Colin held it like a relic of ancient and powerful magic, even though he knew its magic lie almost entirely in what it conferred rather than on what it was. Colin was certain that there must be some charm on the old stencil, though.
He held it up so they could see. It was a stencil. Very cunningly wrought indeed! They'd all be able to see the light shining through the wee letters and symbols carefully punched in the pasteboard. "You lot only have to do two things. First, you have to sign your name! Look, there's my signature!" And indeed if they looked closely, Jannette, Irina and Violet would be able to see, in relatively fresh ink, Colin's signature. If they knew where to look, they'd find many of Colin's family members and their friends too. "Who knows, lassies! Maybe your own Gran signed this and got permission to go to Hogsmeade!"
The other thing they had to do had taken Colin a long time to puzzle out. Several months, actually! "And the other thing you have to do took me a while to sort out. I think there's some kind of charm on this stencil. I'm actually kind of surprised it still works! Our Ma or Da has to sign, right? Permission?" Colin made silly wiggly air quotes around the word 'permission'. "I found that there's a wee hole above the line where they'd sign a real form. But if you think about your Ma or Da, then move your quill, it'll make a signature! If you've seen their signature before, the stencil will do a real good job! Not perfect, mind, but it gets the job done."
As Colin set the venerable stencil down upon the pieces of parchment before them, he waited for them to try it out! He shot a glance over towards Rebecca, hoping he did a good job.

Rebecca listened to Colin's speech with rapt attention, and shot him a grin and a thumbs up once he was done. He was dying to get to go to Hogsmeade with his friends, and the knowledge that they would be breaking school rules didn't deter him in the least.
Once the girls got to work he leaned back in his chair, hands folded behind his head. He'd only known the people here for a couple months, but here they already were, willing to risk detention together. Affection swelled within him. He'd never really had anything like this before. Sure, he'd had plenty of friends growing up, but they were all muggles. It was hard with them, there was a whole side to his life that he would never be able to talk to them about. This was the first time that he was surrounded by people his age who were just like him.
Rebecca remembered the first night here, when Colin had accepted him into Slytherin with a sharp smile. He thought of quiet moments with Irina, laughing and playing cards well past curfew. And Jannette, who was so earnest and blunt with her emotions, he knew he could trust her implicitly. Already, I'm at home here, he mused, suddenly awash with fondness for the friends that he sat amonst.

She felt grateful towards Rebecca since he started to explain to the group what was the actual purpose of that meeting. She was still feeling overwhelmed with what happened. She was feeling confused and not sure what to think about it, her trust in Colin was put in check and she really wasn't enjoying it. So it felt like a relief when she could put her mind in something else.
Rebecca was looking at them with his usual cheeky expression, while he was telling the girls what they were up to at the library. He was talking in almost a whisper what forced the girls to come closer, Irina almost bumped her head on Jannette's when they both leaned forward. At the mention of Hogsmeade Irina's eyes became bigger with excitement, Oh, that's what we are going to do!! , she happily thought, "We are going to Hogsmead?, Wicked!" She exclaimed enthusiastically, and maybe to loud...she looked around to check if no one had listened...luckily apparently not! So she turned again towards her friends. Rebecca was showing them the permission that his sister had sent him, and Irina felt the same as Jannette except, Irina didn't had any sibling...and never will. "Merlin Rebecca, are you really apologizing? who do you take us for?" She asked with a smirk looking at her friend, while Violet and Jannette also agreed in joining the "skulduggery, Misconduct, and general Funny Business'" plan.
Then Colin stepped up from his chair and leaped to the table. Irina almost gave a jump on her own seat, she wasn't expecting such an abrupt reaction from him. One moment he looked like he was about to hide under it, another moment he was jumping to the top. She couldn't avoid how her heart escaped a bit when she looked at the boy that now was screaming his crush's name,"CLAAAIIIRRR FERNANDEZ!!!", Is he mental? Irina thought a little bit in shock with her friend's attitude, then quickly looked around again to check on other students at the library. Two Gryffindor girls were looking at them with scolding expressions, Irina returned the look with one of defiance before turning her attention on her friends again, "Colin, please, let's keep it quite! Someone will listen!" she warned in a low voice. She watched while the second year Slytherin went to his chair again and started his explanation about his family relic for misconduct, she felt actually impressed and also envious of Colin's family. They had to be really closed to trust their youngest with such artifact. That, or they don't care if Colin gets caught..., she considered. After his presentation, he placed the stencil on the table and invited them to try it out. Irina leaned forward and carefully picked up the old piece of pasteboard. While turning it on her hands examining both sides of it she decided to ask, "And...all we need to do is sign it down our names and fake our parents' signature?" she looked suspiciously at Colin and then at Rebecca, the last one was making thumbs up at the older boy,"Ok, I'll try it first!" she readily decided. She then took out a piece of parchment that looked like the one Rebecca received from his sister and a quill. Putting the stencil carefully aligned on top of the parchment, she gently dipped her quill in ink and started to forge her fake permission to Hogsmeade. She had left her mother's signature for last..."Oh if she founds out she will be so..."she sighed,"I don't even want to think about it!". Taking a deep breath, and thinking about her mother's signature, without thinking about Ingrid's angry face that kept invading her mind, she left her quill do its way. "Oh! It's exactly like hers! This is brilliant guys!!" she said enthusiastically and surprised with how well that magical artifact worked. Then turned to Jannette and Violet, passing them the piece of cardboard, she joyfully asked, "Who's next?"

Today was a pretty exciting day, to say the least, not only did Jannette find out about who Colin's crush is, but they were also going to be making fake permission slips to Hogsmeade?! It's like this day couldn't get any better! Jannette always heard stories from her siblings about this mysterious Hogsmeade place. From the village's rich history to the scary horrors of the shrieking shack, and most importantly the delicious shop of Honeydukes! The Nifflers mouth would begin to water just at the thought of Honeydukes, and this permission slip is just what she needs to get one step closer to her goal!
While Violet was ready as well, Jannette couldn't help but hop up and down with joy, they were actually gonna be doing something well... rule-breaky and there was just so much thrill that the brunette just couldn't help herself.
Though all that excitement came to a halt once the leader of the Snek Squad decided to climb onto the table and shout to basically the whole castle at this point, his fist raised proudly in the air.
"WHOOOOOO-OOOP!! COLIN'S GOT A CRUSH! CLAAAIIIRRR FERNANDEZ!!!"
Jannette didn't know if she broke Colin, or Colin just decided to just spill the whole tea about his crush, but whatever the case may be... JANNETTE WAS ALL FOR IT! If the eyes weren't on them from Jannette's outburst, then they were definitely set on the table after Colin. He must really like Clair. I mean he did draw her all over his notebook.
"Colin, please, let's keep it quiet! Someone will listen!"
Keep it quiet? He basically screamed it. "Pfff, yeah Colin -- someone'll lis'en." She says sarcastically before giggling as if Colin literally didn't scream it at the top of his lungs, and was on the fricken table for hecks sake! Besides the loud "SHHHHHH" coming from the librarian, almost every student was looking at the Slytherin table, with some students laughing while others were whispering in each other's ears, spreading the gossip around like wildfire. Whatever the case may be, the only thing now on Jannette's mind was if she was gonna get interviewed by the Hogwarts Headliner about this drama.
While Colin finished his loving confession like it was Valentine's day, he then got serious before explaining to the group about the Hogsmeade slips more seriously.
"Found it in the bottom of me trunk last year! Look here, I'll read it: Conf... BLAH BLAH BLAH-BLAH-"
The sounds of Colin's voice seem to fade from the girl's mind as the Hogsmeade ticket just shined from the light coming from the window. Jannette pressed the bridge of her glasses, her eyes growing wide as if she was hypnotized by the Hogsmeade pass. To many it was just a simple paper, to get into a village, but to Jannette, it was like the golden ticket in Willy Wonka's Chocolate Factory!
"Who's next?"
Shaking her head, the Niffler got out of her trance and was welcomed back to reality by Irina. "OOoooh meeee! Mmmeeeee!" Jannette coos, her hand raised in the air like she was a kindergartener wanting to answer a question. Manners weren't a thing for the Slytherin girl, as everyone already knows and she'd swipe the cardboard from Irina's hand. "TTttt'aaannkk you~" Well, she did have some manners. Taking a piece of parchment, Jannette would take the stencil and plant it down on the parchment. 'I think I'm doing this right...' Instead of elegant dips like Irina did, Jannette would aggressively take her quill and stir it around in the inkwell at a million miles per hour like she was mixing chocolate milk. Perfect!
With the quill in hand, Jannette started the forgery process on the parchment, it was actually pretty fun. Finishing up her forgery, the most important part of the forgery began, the signing process. Would her mother care, probably, ahhhh who is Jannette kidding, it's not like she'll get caught anyways so what's the big deal? I mean if Jannette is allowed to play sports on brooms that could fly them up to dangerous altitudes, dodging bludgers that could do serious damage to them, and also fly at high speeds that no eleven years should be capable off, but Jannette isn't allowed to go to a village until her third year at Hogwarts? The ministry seriously needs an update on those rules... "Almos' t'ere... allmmosss' t'ere aaaaHhhnnn' -- done!" Wiping off the imaginary sweat from her brow Jannette looks at the final process, "Well Merlins 20th beard 'er some'in' loike dah --" The Niffler couldn't believe it, it was like an exact copy of her mother's handwriting. "Oi go'ah say Colin t'is t'ing really is some'in'."1 She then turns to Violet, taking the magical artifact in hand and offering it to her, "Well las' buht nowht leas' Violeht."2 She says wiggling the stencil in front of Violet. When Vee tries to get it, the Brunette does the unspeakable... "♪ OOoooh -- ♪" she pulls it back, "♪ toooo slow, ♪" She teases, giving a playful grin "♪ Yuuuhhh go'ah be quickah den dah~ ♪"3 Her Slytherin side is definitely showing now, as she attempts to pull back as many times as possible before Violet can get the Stencil from her, the playful sounds of teasing still continue in the process.

----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------Violet had been taken by bit of surprise by a blushing, uncomfortable Colin McCoire suddenly turning into chaotic and loud Colin McCoire with a proud fist raised in the air, basically screaming that he has a crush on a girl named Clair Fernandez.
Violet couldn't help but laugh with a tint of surprise.
Red didn't know how that Clair girl was like to gain her friend's attention like that and she was curious to find out and meet the girl somehow.
By the time, lots of people's attention was on the Snek Squad if they weren't before.Irina told Colin to keep quiet and Janette agreed but sarcastically.
Finally, Colin turned into a more serious mode and started explaining the great fun hogsmeade escape plan to the rest of the squad.
Violet carefully listened to him.He was quite lucky to have relatives like that who made this plan possible. With the interest of her friends to it made Violet be much more comfortable and interested about it.Then Irina signed the paper and so did Janette.
When it was finally Violet's turn to sign the fake pass,Janette decided to be herself and when the red tried to get the stencil she pulled it back. "Hey!" Vee exclaimed, frowned and tried again, only for the Applebottom to pull it back again, playfully teasing.
"Janette, stop being an immature kid right now!" Red said despite knowing, well, the girl in front of her was 11 years old just like she was.Making a disturbed sound, she acted faster this time and finally got the Stencil from her.
"Hah!" red said proudly. Then she did her job which was signing the hogsmeade pass!

Slytherin Study Session

Colin gave his primary accomplice, Dr. Loops, a sly nod. The Snek Squad's second major adventure, following the resounding success of Operation Pillow Fort, was the Slytherin Study Session. Colin was very pleased that everyone had now the obtained and secured a Hogsmeade permission form! He was very happy not only with the forms but with how well the Snek Squad got on and worked together.
Each of the girls had used Colin's family stencil to make a legitimate fake permission form and had signed it. Everything was looking perfectly fine to move onto their next operation, so Colin decided to wrap the study session up! "Yoink!" He snagged the ancient stencil from Violet's hands and with a quick wink slipped it back into its envelope. And the envelope slid quietly back into the deepest recesses of Colin's satchel along with various sheaves of parchment, note books and other assorted stuff.
"Whoa! Those look really nice, girls!" Colin picked up Irina's form and scrutinised it carefully. Everything looked properly done, just like his own. "It looks to me like the Snek Squad is now kitted out for a proper Hogsmeade adventure! We've all be granted permission to got to Hogsmeade, so I think the only thing left for us to do is close up our study session! Heheh. I think we've learned everything we came here to study, right?"

The Snek Squad has left the Library!
