“Out out, brief candle!”

The little line of poetry rang in Sirin’s head. Somehow, she just couldn’t remember where she’d ever heard it from. She couldn’t remember anything—the title, poet, nothing. Yet, she seemed to love it so much. Perhaps it was because of her father’s nurturing care— when little Sirin was younger, her father would often recite poetry to her before she drifted off to sleep.

Letting out a deep sigh, she returned her focus back to the homework she was doing. To her, the gargoyle strike was simply dull and insipid: why could they not study the story of Harry Potter, or the legendary Dark lord?
Best trust the course syllabus.
After all, Hogwarts still had many secrets waiting to be discovered.

Sirin slammed her book shut—quietly of course. She gazed at all the students around her. There were many older students studying for their O.W. L. S, and many first years like Sirin who where still adjusting to this novel magical environment.

Taking a break from her studies, Sirin took out “Hogwarts: A. History.” Her absolute favorite—-and anybody could tell. She’s bought two copies: one to keep brand new, and one for studying. Sirin had already burned through a whole bottle of ink and a quill just annotating this book. Every page was filled to the brim, and Sirin would then copy what she learned or noted into a notebook (her third one actually) and use it as reference material. Sirin was rather proud of her work; she was quite aware that this would all benefit her somehow.

Just as Sirin picked up her quill to begin annotating the last couple of pages, she heard light footsteps approaching her desolate table.

Taisia was in the library to do some research. There was little she didn't know about Hogwarts but she had soon discovered the library was a great place to meet people. She was reading up on muggle devices. They were funny little things, some went in specific rooms, some had multiple features while others were just for one thing. Most of them had millions upon millions of buttons. The buttons didn't even have words for their use, just little pictures. Everything looked so complicated! Taisia was interested in learning the items for Althea, her Squib sister. She wanted to buy her a muggle present when she went for Christmas, but she knew nothing about them, so she had been looking in the library. She saw a girl she recognised from some of her classes and decided maybe she'd talk to her. The girl was pulling out a very well annotated copy of Hogwarts: A History. Taisia tried to remember her name Siri? No, that was a feature of one of the muggle devices she was reading about. She approached the Ravenclaw tentatively. Surely this could only go well.
"Sirin!" She called, unable to stop herself. She hoped that was the girl's name.

One's name is one's treasure, a mark of identity, of purpose. Sirin had been quietly reading her book when she heard her name. She paused, thinking.
Who would call my name? Who even knows me off the top of their head? Am I...in trouble?
Sirin looked up, noticing a young girl with blonde hair approaching her. The girl wore a Ravenclaw robe, just like Sirin. A fellow eagle---what a chance encounter. Although, Sirin still could not figure out why this girl knew her name--had they met somewhere before? Sirin reviewed all past events, trying to recall these long blonde locks and this soft voice. It only took her a little bit of time to figure out that this girl must be named 'Taisia.' Sirin had remembered meeting her at the first Tea Drinkers meeting. She'd been a nice, amiable, and very approachable person. Surely it wouldn't hurt to chat with her.

"Oh....um..hey there! I'm Sirin'' "

It was a rather stupid thing to say, seeing that this girl had already called out her name and clearly knew Sirin's name somehow.

"Oh--umm..sorry haha you probably already know my name. You're....Taisia? Right? Taisia Elidine Stroudefielde."

Normally Sirin was much more composed and spoke with more eloquence, but today her social skills seemed to be a bit rusty. After much stuttering, she blushed and buried her head into her book once more.
