And the duel was starting to get heated up, with spells and words flying from both sides. Ming fingered his wand, should things spiral out of control but yet made no move to intercede. Words were well within the rules, and if one side could not hold on to its cool, it was just their failure.

The worst offender was the white-haired Slytherin, who had managed to keep words coming even between dancing out of the way of spells and casting spells of her own.

Her taunts seemed to be effective, though. Miss Barlow hesitated a fraction too long in her wand movements, causing nothing to happen from whatever spell she was attempting to cast.

Prefect Evans was faring better, having managed to pull forward a jinx despite her condition. An inopportune and violent sneeze, and the jinx went wide off target, forcing Ming him to jump out of the way in a rather unrefined display. Not all was bad for the snake camp though, as the same sneeze moved Monica’s head out of the path of a perfectly cast spell from Beatrice.

Perhaps Pea recognized that the duel was getting heated up, or perhaps she felt that the snakes just needed a second to gather themselves. Whatever the reason, she did not aim a spell at her opponents, instead summoning a smokescreen that filled the dueling podium.

Instinctively Ming brought a hand to cover his nose, not at all eager to choke on fumes. A moment, and then he called out. ”The duel shall continue unless either party calls out a forfeit.”

Monica could feel the spell's grasp weakening in her. The Sneezes came less often, and with more breaks in between. Having a fortunate round, in the sense of not being hit with any other spells, Monica felt confident in another attempt to take Bea out. Squaring off herself to her target, she raised her wand, poised it with more precision than she had ever had before. She could feel it, this was the shot that would hit! No way this was missing it's target.

Taking in a deep breath, she cast her jinx when...

--Ah CHOO--

A sneezed hurled out of her. No warning. No mercy. Throwing her jinx haywire. Monica had closed her eyes as she was casting, and when she opened them, she saw how off course her spell went, nearly taking out Ming..."Sorry!" Monica shouted, just before a second sneezed pushed it's way out into the arena. Fortunately though, it was at the same moment a spell was casted in Monica's direction. Her sudden sneeze caused her to duck out of the way, without realizing it. When she recovered she grasped how lucky she was, looking at the opponent who casted, "Ha! That's what you get for casting....."

--Ah Choo---

A third sneeze came, interrupting Monica's taunt, yet also making the point clear. Looking over at Pea, Monica could see the wheels turning in the girls head. And before there could be reaction, she cast smoke screen over the whole arena. Monica clasped her hands over her mouth, trying not to inhale the fumes. After things settled a little, she saw the opportunity this could be...Time to shake things up a bit!

Seriously could nothing go right?! It was one thing to miss a first but again? All because of this blasted sneezing hex, fortunate but also a curse. It had saved Bea, she was sure, from Monica's spell, but had made her own miss. The girl scowled at her friend, her competitiveness coming out in full force. The scowl faded though, as she watched Monica sneeze away the end of her taunt, turning into a full grin. "What was that Monica? I couldn't hear you..." The responding taunt came out in a singsong voice, one that Bea hoped riled Monica up.

It was like flipping a coin. One side to the other. It seemed the snakes had other ideas about how to win this duel. The grin vanished, once again covered by a scowl. Closing her eyes and covering her mouth, Bea tried to look for Adelaide through the smoke. It was a pity they didn't have the Wind spell that would counter and alleviate this stupid screen. As the smoke cleared, Beatrice found Addie, checking to see if she was alright. "You okay?" Raising her wand, Bea looked to the snakes, hoping the next taunt would make them miscalculate. "You sure that's a good idea? 'Cause it isn't going to save you."

OOC note : All of Pea's word and action are all 100% for the purpose of her character- please don't take anything to heart. >.<
The second the blurriness of her vision disappear Pea gather herself up again, standing straight and facing her opponent. "Aw, you think that little spark would do anything?" Pea sneer toward Barlowe. The duel has started to really heat up now. Everyone is riled, even Pea is a little disgruntled by that spell flying towards her, even though she acts like it was nothing, it is still making her a little dizzy. Of course, she won't show any of it though. They will never see her being weak, that is her number one rule.

As soon as she took the stance, she already sees Barlowe already pointing her wand at her. But her wand fizzled. Confused but also intrigued- Pea raises her eyebrow. "What is it Barlowe? did you get too distracted by my beauty?" Pea flips her hair fabulously towards the blonde. Honestly, she has been avoiding their attacks elegantly in the last rounds. This is not surprising obviously, they thought they could take her down easily when they switched target? it is really foolish move if she says so herself. But she is not complaining. They could keep attacking her, but of course, they would not succeed. Not with this smoke around. Pea performs the smokescreen spell to the scene of the duel. Why? for the purpose of drama- obviously.

"Oh, yeah, I certainly think it did do something," Adelaide retorted, "you seemed to be quite out of it for a minute there. And I do recall you missing because of it," she smirked, head cocking to one side tauntingly. It would not do her any good to get distracted though, and while the duel was quickly becoming heated, turning into both a duel of spells and a duel of words, the taunts were not as important as winning was. There would be plenty of time for Adelaide to brag in Pea's face after her and Bea had won the duel. Right now, she had to focus on her spellcasting.

She rightened herself, preparing to cast a spell at Pea and... nothing happened. Not even a spark came out of her wand. She might as well have been trying to cast a spell with a stick. Her jaw clenched, wondering where she had gone wrong. At least her spell had not failed as terrible as Monica's had, the Slytherin's spell going so widely off course due to an unfortunate (or fortunate, given Adelaide's position) timed sneeze, that it had nearly hit Ming. Bea's spell had also missed, so maybe there was just something in the air this round that had caused everyone's spells to not hit their target. The Ravenclaw certainly didn't want to chalk it up to her being a failure, because she most definitely was not.

Her eyebrow raised at yet another one of Pea's taunts, "No. If anything, you are so incredibly hideous that I'm pretty sure it was your ugliness I was distracted by. Truly, your face is a horror to look at, my eyes are hurting. And I do wonder how you walk around the castle looking like that. Are you not embarrassed?" It was a lie, but Pea didn't need to know that. Of course the girl wasn't ugly, anyone with eyes could see that. There was something unnervingly beautiful about her, and maybe it had indeed been the reason Adelaide was momentarily distracted enough to fail her spell, but she would never admit that to Pea. She hardly wanted to admit it to herself.

For whatever reason, Pea had thought it best to cast the Smokescreen Spell. An annoyed groan slipped from Adelaide's mouth as she closed her eyes and covered her mouth, waiting for it to pass. Once the smoke cleared, she reopened her eyes and glanced at Bea. Nodding, she replied, "Perfectly fine. You?" Before turning her attention back to her opponents and letting a smirk grace her lips at Bea's taunt. They certainly were not going to go down easily, and Adelaide was more than eager to put these snakes in their place and win this duel.
