Summer Camp Herbology Workshop Closed

Amadea followed Professor Wright as she led the group to the Herbology greenhouse, showing them around and explaining where they needed to go. As they walked down the path, Amadea admired the beautiful flowers and stones that lined the walkway. Clearly, Professor Wright had taken a lot of time and effort to put this all together.

If Amadea was being completely honest, she didn't exactly know why she had signed up for the Herbology workshop. Her grades were fine so it wasn't like she needed to get any extra help. Plants also weren't her most favorite thing. Ever since she had that one experience in the greenhouses with Rhea, Amadea had been wary of ever going to Herbology classes ever again. Plus, it wasn't like Amadea planned to spend the rest of her life doing things with plants.

Amadea supposed the real reason she signed up was because she had wanted to partake in as many activities as possible before the summer was over. When she had first arrived at Hogwarts, she had been too shy and intimidated to join any clubs or teams right away, so most of them were already full by the time she showed her interest. Now, she wasn't going to let that happen. Even though plants terrified her (especially Professor Wright's plants) Amadea was still determined to make sure that she didn't miss anything. Making sure to stay n the bright side, Amadea figured that maybe this workshop would even help her get over her fear of plants. If nothing more, it would improve her knowledge on things, so hopefully she could do even better in the class during her second year.

They reached the cabin and everyone stepped inside. Amadea quickly took a seat on the edge of the smallest couch, listening to Professor Wright talk. Once she had finished, Amadea stood and took a basket from the pile, turning around and wondering who would be her partner. She saw her friend-ish Mia Alexander, and started to head over to her, but soon realized that Mia had already found a partner. Turning, Amadea noticed that almost everyone had already found themselves a partner. Trying not to panic, Amadea stood to the side, waiting for someone to approach her that hadn't found someone yet.

In response to Mia Alexander
As Mary sat on the ground of the Herbology hut waiting for everyone to find their partners, she noticed a brown haired Slytherin girl walking towards her. Mary's initial reaction was to turn her head as if this would make her less noticeable by the girl. Nonetheless the girl tapped her lightly on the shoulder, to gain her attention. Mary was panicked. This was really her first true interaction at Hogwarts other than speaking to professors and asking for help from prefects.

"Hey-do you want to be my partner?"

Mary heard the girl but paused. She so badly wanted to scream "Yes! Of course!" Rather than that though, she composed herself stood from the hard floor she settled on and hoped that the girl didn't notice her momentarily pause.
"Yea-sure."
Mary hoped that she sounded cool and collected to the girl but nonetheless Mary felt the red creeping onto her face as her embarrassment grew.
"I'm Mary Brown"
Mary wasn't sure if she was supposed to add something to the statement or rather leave it as is. Letting her akawardness get the best of her she said nothing more and went to fiddle with her fingers in nervousness.

{ Asking Phaedra Stavrou to partner up with her }
Stifling a yawn at Breakfast, Serena seriously questioned why she agreed to joining a camp that required them to be up and ready at such an early time during the summer holidays. What possessed her to do such a thing was beyond her understanding. Nonetheless, she was up, dressed and eating in time to start the day's adventure. Today was quite an exciting day. Well, she hoped it would be. She was not entirely sure what exactly the Herbology Workshop entailed but she liked plants, for the most part, so thought it might be interesting. Professor Wright's flower crown event at the festival last season was actually rather enjoyable, after all. Post breakfast, the Hufflepuff made her way over to the professor and followed her through the grounds. They made there way down a path and approached a cabin not too far away. Following behind the Professor, she entered the 'Herbology Hut', which definitely was a cabin from the looks of it and glanced around the room.

The first and most obvious thing to catch her eye was the sheer about of plants in the room. It came at no surprise. Even the Cabin of the Phoenix, which was decorated by Professor Wright, was full of plants. The lady, after all, did love her plants. In a weird way, it was actually rather nice to see a Professor who was clearly very passionate about the subject they taught. It was not one that they ended up with or did for the sake of doing. Professor Wright's love for plants was noticeable by everyone. In a way, that made it far more interesting to attend Herbology classes and pay attention. The curious side of her wanted to know why she loved them as much as she did.

Standing quietly at the back of the group, Serena listened to the professor speak about the day's activities. Her gaze followed the direction of everyone's heads as she looked for the baskets that the teacher spoke of. They had to partner up. Oof. Serena hated partnering up. Well, that wasn't strictly true. She enjoyed working with others but she hated the process of partnering up. If there were three friends, one person was left out. That was the part she hated. She stood quietly at the back, letting people partner up with their friends first. As she looked around, she spotted a few familiar faces already in pairs. Serena silently walked forward and picked up one of the baskets before looking around.

Most of the people she knew had partnered up already it seemed. Her eyes fell onto a Ravenclaw that she knew far too well for her liking. The girl seemed to be alone at the moment. Serena turned away, hoping to find another partner. A part of her knew that her mother would expect her to partner up with her. She was a girl from a good respectable pureblood family, after all. Phaedra Stavrou. She had successfully avoided talking to the girl for most, if not all, of the school year. But her name came up so many times. Serena knew that her mother would immediately ask her about her relationships, the minute she stepped foot in London again. Serena would be questioned about all of the purebloods she was friends with, if she had any interesting interactions with any of them. Phaedra would come up by name, simply because Serena's mother adored her - and probably wished that the Stavrou daughter was her own. And Serena did not lie. If her mother point blanked asked her if she spent time with Phaedra, she would not lie about it - and unfortunately, the truth was an answer that would be unacceptable.

Sighing internally, Serena decided that the best solution was to give her mother an adequate answer. It was not a lie if she told her mother that they had been working together and went into immense detailed about that one time they partnered up. By providing immense details, Serena could drag the conversation out long enough for her mother to move on to someone else. But she needed details to provide in the first place.

Reluctantly, Serena made her way over to the Stavrou daughter. She had no doubt that the girl would not want to do this either. She was pretty sure Phaedra hated her but Serena never really understood why. But it would be good for both of them to at least be able to say they made an effort. "Phaedra," Serena started, forcing herself to say her first name rather than referring to her by her surname like she normally did, "If you haven't found a partner, would you like to join me?" She asked, holding up her basket slightly to show that she had one for them. There wasn't many baskets left at this point, so the Ravenclaw Prefect probably would have little choice...

Geesh, why did Serena even care about pleasing her mother? She was already regretting this decision but she was here now, standing in front of Phaedra with a basket in her hand.

Pre-planned with Isabella Hills

Looking up from her breakfast, Ami grimaced as Professor Wright called for the Herbology Workshop students' attention to lead them up to a secret hut. Was she going to murder them all? Surely not, she was a respectable professor, not a madwoman. Right? Ami listened dutifully to the instructions and lunged for one of the baskets as soon as it was done. Yes, she got one... glancing around the room, Ami looked for someone as equally lonely as she was.

She first spotted the Slytherin prefect she had talked to at the bonfire, Isabella Hills. "Isabella!" she called out, waving to the girl. "Isabella, over here!" She then saw Amadea out of the corner of her eye, and mentally cursed herself out. Dang, why hadn't she seen her favorite Hufflepuff three seconds earlier? It was too late now, she'd already called out to Isabella. Flashing a half apologetic, half friendly smile at Amadea, Ami turned back to the approaching Slytherin prefect.

"Hey," she said with a wide smile. "Do you want to be partners for this workshop... thing?" Ami said shyly, now completely and utterly regretting her decision to reach out to someone else. Why couldn't she just keep her mouth shut sometimes?

Glancing down at the basket, Ami couldn't help but wonder what they would be doing. Were they gathering something? Maybe they were, that would explain the baskets and the journey into the forest. It also made sense, considering that Sorrel Wright was the Herbology professor, and Fainauriel Valtome was the potions professor- maybe they were making the students do their work for them?

This workshop sounded so exciting. Angela couldn't wait to go into the Forbidden Forest. She's never been there so far. Maybe they'll see something interesting besides the plants? Some dangerous creatures? Or at least nice views? Why is the Forest forbidden? Will something happen? What are the creatures of the forest? Will they fight centaurs or something? Her imagination was going crazy, but she didn't even try to control it. Like professor Valtome said, she thought, we are the Lethifolds, and we are the dreamers of dreams.

Her excitement dropped substantially when she saw they are going to some greenhouse. It was a fairly cute hut, sure, but hopefully it's not some deliberate prank to force them to sit there and care after some boring plants?!

But it was not. Angela let herself breathe a sigh of relief. It'll be an adventure after all. And an adventure in pairs? Great, sounds like an opportunity to get to know someone better! Angela looked around. She decided to go with someone random this time. Why not? A red-haired girl stood nearby, looking a bit lost. Isn't she a Hufflepuff prefect? Yes, it's surely her, these red curls are hard to forget. Angela came up to her with a friendly grin. Hey, so are you looking for a partner?

Action: asked Amadea to partner up.

Boiled eggs, bacon, toast, more toast preferably with butter, sausages, beans, scrambled eggs. With a wolfish glint in his eye, Parcel gulfed down the breakfast. “I will need my strength today” Parcel thought as he attacked his second serving of scrambled eggs and bacon. It was by sheer luck that Parcel had noticed the Herbology sign up when he went to dinner one evening. Had it been a day in the greenhouse, then Parcel would probably have ignored it. Parcel could see why knowledge of herbology would be useful for all wizards. But that did not mean that the lessons were particularly fun or interesting. Alas, it was not going to be any old day in greenhouse one. No, because the thing that drew Parcel’s eyes to the sign up was precisely the location of the event, The Forbidden Forest. AH, how he had longed to enter it. How many times hadn’t he looked over the blanket of trees that was laid out beside the castle and wished to explore it! And today was the day! His first time entering.
Grinning excitedly, Parcel stabbed the last piece of bacon on his plate with a fork. He took the bite and was finally done with breakfast just in time to look up on the spell the herbology professor had fired.

As the professor of plants and other shrubbery left the great hall, Parcel jumped up from the bench he was sitting on to follow. He had sign up without consulting any of his friends, so he expected to be exploring the forest on his own.
A small frown protruded on Parcels face as he noticed that the way the professor was taking wasn’t directly to the forbidden forest, but a rose laden path that took them to a cabin. Parcel poked one of the rosebuds along the path uninterested as they arrived at the cabin. Parcels insides groaned a little as he hoped this wasn’t the beginning of a herbology lesson.
Following the other students as the professor ushered them inside, Parcel could gaze upon what seemed to be the inside of a cozy hut. When the professor indicated to the students that they could sit, Parcel decided to stay standing instead. He had no time for idling around in this cabin when there was a forest to explore!

As the professor explained how the day was to proceed, Parcels stare went to the baskets. He would have to team up with someone. This was a rather annoying development. Parcel had planed to adventure of on his own, but not only would he have to be in the vicinity of a professor, but he would also have to go with someone else. And as Parcel looked around, he saw that he knew no one here. He had seen most of them in classes, but he knew no one’s name. Well, there was the kissy prefect, but no way he would go up and ask to team up with her, he was already living with her! And he should probably try to stay away from her as much as possible outside of their cabin, he would want to receive cooties through the air he was breathing or something. He didn’t think cooties was transmitted through the air. But if there was a person that had enough cooties to make it airborne, then it would have to be that yucky girl.

When the professor finished her speech about “following the professors”, “don’t pick up stuff without the professor’s permission” and other unnecessary stuff, the students could finally start and partner up for the actual event.

Parcel went straight over to the baskets and picked one up. Placing it under his arm, Parcel walked over to one of the windows to casually watch out over the forbidden forest as he waited for the event to proceed.

Kaegen had been scanning the crowd of kids as soon as he got there. He thought he knew a few of them, but no one he was allies with. He noticed Tower, and a cold shiver ran down his spine as he recalled the promise he had made to her and the horrible events that had followed. That was one person he would steer clear from.

However, there was an ally among the throng, a student that he already knew would accept his offer. The group they had formed together had yet to make any moves, had sat in the background, lair neglected and forgotten as his sleepless studying schedule continually pushed him farther from the creature and forests he enjoyed.

But the lair still existed, the song still existed. And so did their emblem. He wouldn’t even have to mention it, she would understand why he expected her to agree readily. She had proven herself to be smart and fast, intelligent and cunning enough to quickly solve a riddle thrown her way. Ambiguously mentioning that they were partners would give her enough information for days. Probably.

The walking umbrella was dragging along the ground behind him, the young ravenclaw was holding it high up by the poofy closed cloth umbrella at the top of the long staff. He didn’t have to walk far before he stopped directly in front of celery.

“We’re a team.”

He was about to ask the girl to go get a basket, but thought better of it. It would probably be better if he just went and got it himself. Turning away from celery, Kaegen walked over and picked up a basket. This was going to be interesting.

She wasn't quite sure what to think about the herbology workshop, she wasn't very interested in the subject of magical plants. But she wasn't about to pass up an opportunity to learn something about the Magical World. Plus herbology had a direct relationship with potions, which was her favorite subject. And so when the herbology workshop sign ups came out she was the first to sign.

She followed Professor Wright along with the others to the Herbology hut Syrah had noticed erected along with the rest of the campgrounds. As the group walked she looked around to see who ha joined. She didn't know most of them, but she recognized a few faces from Slytherin and a few Hufflepuffs she had befriended that year. She kept an eye of Ami and Lucy, she liked them the best.

And it seemed it was a good idea to keep watch over them, since this was apparently, like everything else, a partner thing. Ami was quickly snatched up, figures she was really popular and we'll liked, so Syrah rushed over to Lucy, grabbing a basket on the way, and attempted to pair up with her.

She hoped the girl remember her from when they first met. They had had small conversations throughout the year in the hallways, but the study room with Robyn had been the most the two had ever spoken. She liked the girl, a near complete opposite from Syrah herself, she would think, but she found the girl charming and entertaining.

Practically running up to Lucy, she greeted her. "Hey Lucy! Wanna be partners before everyone good gets snatched up?" She asked, giggling to herself.

Breakfast was always served too early for Isabella. At home, she'd be able to sleep in until around eleven. Here, if you slept until eleven you missed breakfast and half of your classes. Mornings at Hogwarts were always a slow start for her, and she had had to wake up earlier than usual for the Herbology workshop she signed up for. She had thought that it would be a good opportunity to possibly meet new people, but if she knew it would interfere with her slumber schedule she would of chosen sleep over people in a heartbeat.

Isabella barely listened as the professor gave them instructions only tuning in when she told them to find a partner. Looking around, she tried to find at least one familiar face that she could ask to partner up with. Just when she was starting to give up an american voice rang out among the crowd. "Isabella! Isabella, over here!" Turning her head she caught sight of a Hufflepuff she had met at the bonfire. Ami Proppellio or something fancy like that.

Nodding her head, the Slytherin started to make her way over to the girl. She had seemed nice enough when she first met her, as Hufflepuffs were. She had yet to meet an unkind Hufflepuff, and hoped that she never would. "Hey. Do you want to be partners for this workshop... thing?" Beaming back at the girl, she sighed in relief. "Of course." Deciding to take a stab at a conversation, she spoke again - quietly this time though. "Do you think we'll actually be allowed in the Forbidden Forest?"

Small talk had never been a strong point of hers. She never knew what to say or do. That's probably why she was alone most of the time. She had a tight group of friends and almost never spoke to anyone outside of that group. She wasn't sure what had gotten into her on he night of the bonfire. It definitely wasn't like her to just go up and talk to someone she didn't know out of choice.

Despite having developed quite the strong hostility for all of the professors, Max still couldn't help but find Professor Wright amusing. She'd never attempted to hide her dislike of the children and the fact that she was uncomfortable talking to them even after an entire year of teaching them. When professors were too nice he felt like it was all suspiciously fake, but Sorrel was a little different. He felt like she'd stab the students from the front instead of behind - she wouldn't attempt some dumb social grace to make them let their guard down.

Listening closely to her instructions, he cast a critical gaze around the room at the word 'partners.' His first choice would be either Serena or Phaedra, but both girls appeared to have the same idea because they linked up before he could ask. Did they know each other? It wouldn't be all that surprising - their families were both wealthy, well-known pureblood so they'd likely met at dinner parties before. He should ask one or the other; maybe he'd ask Phaedra tonight and they could all hang out together as friends someday. Quite the myriad of Houses.

Stashing the idea in the back of his mind for later, he scanned the crowd again until his eyes found a girl he'd seen a few times now. First in the hallway after the fight with James, where he hadn't had any time to assess her. Then during the lock-in, where there'd been some tension - but despite some thinly veiled barbs, they hadn't had much interaction there. The final time had been a couple of days prior, at that bonfire where she'd introduced herself as a pureblood with quite the name. Dippet and Shafiq. He knew of the families; the Shafiq family in particular had caught his parent's attention because they were from another country. Ties to a place other than the overtired England or Scotland always snagged their interest because it meant more business opportunities, and his father was always looking to expand the company.

Hm... it had been quite some time since he'd done any networking. This Dorothy was a Hufflepuff, a House he usually despised people in, but Serena was the same and he enjoyed the kind prefect's company. Deciding to suck up his prejudices for the sake of meeting someone who's family had the same, he approached her with a neutral but polite stance, dipping his head in some modicum of a greeting. "Dorothy Proxima Centauri Dippet-Shafiq... right?" Each part carefully enunciated so he didn't mispronounce any of it. "We've met a few times, though the circumstances weren't conducive to great talking. Would you like to partner up for this?"
