"She is." Constantine snapped back, before expelling a curt snort. He wasn't mad at the girl for bringing it up, but rather, his inability to keep said friend safe.

Even though he didn't understand why she was so averse to spending a little time in the water, he knew better than to push it. She'd proved to the Hufflepuff that she could swim, so maybe there was an underlying issue that went deeper than what he could see on the surface. Besides, he didn't actually know what was in the lake, so maybe she'd had the right idea to be cautious around it.

"I've never really thought about it." Constantine mumbled sincerely, in thought. He came to the conclusion that no, he wasn't afraid, nor should he be. "Hm, but no. Not every tree will attempt to squish me, will it? I'm not going to let one bad apple ruin the bunch." The Hufflepuff replied. He liked to be out in nature, so it seemed a waste if he had become paralysed by his own fear. Climbing any tree could result in falling, and breaking a bone, so the incident was just a slightly more extreme case. However, he was afraid that he'd let his friends down again.

"She is."

Evelyn nodded. That was good. It'd be a shame if they had gotten permanently crippled or something to that effect. But his answer didn't make her feel any better. Was she suppose to be able to jump into the water fearlessly? She did it sometimes, heck she even swam with the Kelpie responsible, but it still made her tremble and sometimes she just sat on the bank and cried.

He had a good mentality that she was jealous of. Not letting one bad experience ruin the entire thing was something she couldn't quite achieve. For some reasons he felt compelled to give him her name like she should've at the beginning of their encounter.

"Evelyn." When she realized that that probably wouldn't clear things up she gestured to herself. "My name is Evelyn." Evelyn's lips quirked up into a tiny smile.

"Apples are nice but personally I enjoy Seafood." She liked her lips and laughed. It was quiet but made her shoulders quiver.

He was actually a pretty cool dude. She was surprised he wasn't in Gryffindor but she supposed that they couldn't have all the brave ones. Evelyn herself wasn't brave. At least she didn't consider herself brave. She was afraid of being drowned. She couldn't sleep with blankets because it felt to much like being tangled in seaweed and she felt the need to watch people when their in danger because they shouldn't have to be.

Constantine looked over his shoulder, thinking that the girl had been calling someone. When he'd noticed no one in the lake behind him, he looked back to the girl for some sort of explanation, and wasn't disappointing. "I'm Constantine Babbitt. I would shake your hand, but I think you'd rather not." He added with a sheepish grin. The boy's palms were still planted firmly in the water, picking at a few loose stones.

"I agree, I see food, I eat it." Constantine added, smiling at his terrible and overused joke. Being the gannet he was, he'd eat anything served to him. Except liquorice, it made him sick just thinking about it. But the food at Hogwarts had been the best he'd ever tasted, aside from his mum's cooking. "Have you ever had anything from Honeydukes? They have the best sweets ever." The Hufflepuff continued.

Evelyn seemed to be less angry with him now, or she was pretending to be. Either way, Constantine didn't actually mind, as long as she wasn't going to shout at him any longer. Even though they'd both gotten off on a rocky start, Constantine thought that they were becoming a little more tolerant of each other.
