Here it was again. The big pitch lay ready before them as River entered with her teammates. Endless opportunities, to win, lose, fall to one's death, or whatever the day might bring. River had been looking forward to the match, feeling like the practice games had been going pretty well. Now they had the chance to really test their abilities. The young ravenclaw felt rested and ready as she mounted her broom and readied herself for the sound of the whistle.

As Sylvain floated in, perched upon his Moontrimmer, he ascended high enough to get an eagle-eyed view of everyone's position. From up here, the world looked almost two dimensional and all the signs of summer had just about faded way to autumn. A cup of hot chocolate seemed apropos, his breath just barely visible, and just the thought of a dozen floating marshmallows gave him a big grin. As he recalled the summer game however, his smug satisfaction was wiped from his face. He had made a promise to himself that he would not let today's game go anything like the circus that the match with those clowns from Durmstank and Oldovstoretz had turned into.

It was between this smug sense of satisfaction and his now battle-hardened heart that his next great idea would have to come. Observing the unfolding events before him, Sylvain scanned the sky, recognizing each of Slytherin's starting members in hopes that the effort might give him a eureka moment. They were familiar faces almost all so he tried to recall the game against them last year to formulate a remedy to whatever sick schemes they might have concocted before the game.

Dan was the kind of seeker who might spot the snitch right away, and Erin was the kind of beater who made kids regret signing up for quidditch after a single bludger sent their way. Koko was practically a monster on the field and she wasn't a slouch when they came at the posts. If anything, his strategy needed to account for those variables. Only, his mind strayed back to the thoughts of hot chocolate and warm blankets. Whatever the plan was, it needed to come to him soon, or things might get sticky without him.

Looking to Cecily and Lavinia first, Sylvain gave them a signal to let them in on the lack of confidence behind his plan, "fly carefully." Then he would encourage Jorah and Damion to go ahead and do whatever they thought was right in the moment, "stick with what you know guys." Lastly, he would remind River and Aly to call out for help if the worst somehow happened, "I'll be right there if either of you need me but I think you already know what to do."

Edme stepped out onto the pitch, holding her broom anxiously as she made her way over to the bench. After their unfortunate fall from the game prior, they were naturally a bit nervous about this game. Alongside this, she could admit to being a bit embarrassed about how short of time she had on the pitch before taking a tumble. They couldn't tell if they wanted to do better in this game, or didn't want to go in at all. Her mind swirled as she took her respectful place on the bench.

ROUND 1

Chasers & Keepers

As the whistle blew both teams would launch into the air and the battle for the Quaffle would begin. The first to snatch the crimson ball would be Sylvain from Team Ravenclaw and with a mighty toss they would overpower Team Slytherin's Koko and score!

"Ten points for Ravenclaw!" The referee bellowed and signaled to the score keeper as a sea of navy and silver erupted into applause.

However, Lavinia would soon find revenge for the snakes as they caught the Quaffle next. Ravenclaw's Keeper, Aly had tried their hand at playing Chaser and could not make it back to the hoops in time to stop the snake from scoring.

Ten points, Slytherin." It would be the crowd of emerald and silver's turn to burst into cheer.

Sylvain would once again outmatch their opponents for the next two grabs, but Koko would not allow another trespass. With expert precision they would block the scoring attempts. Even when Aly tried their hands at another grab and score, Koko would be their denier!

Beaters & Cheaters

While some of the player attempted to score points for their team, others would be on a more destructive path. Cash, from Team Slytherin, would strike first as their bat belted out a mighty blow. The Bludger would soon fins it's target when it struck Racenclaw's Damion, but they were able to manage the blow and remain on their broom. With quite the trick the Bludger would ricochet towards Jorah, but the flying eagle would zoom out of the way.

It would then seem that Ravenclaw would abandon the moral high ground and take a couple dirty shots at their opponents. Cecily would put their sights on Erin of Team Slytherin and attempt to Blatch, but the blonde beauty would bat a pretty eye and distract Cecily. They would miss their target and accidentally hit one of their own, fellow chaser Lavinia. Lavinia would slip and fall, but Damion was ready to aid his fellow Ravens and catches Lavinia!

"Penalty lap! Cecily for Blatching!" The whistle marked their transgression as they were sent off to circle the pitch.

Lavinia would urge Damion into a shared Blatch attempt on Koko and the Slytherin would fall. Fortunately for the Keeper, Tyranni would swoop in to save Koko.

They would not be the only Ravenclaws to go on the attack though. With a mighty swing Jorah would attempt to Bludger Slytherin's Dan, but unfortunately for them, their own creepy Seeker would prove too distracting to focus properly. Swing and a miss I'm afraid.

It would be Erin's turn to attack as they belted a Bludger at Ravenclaws Seeker. River would not have a chance to evade the mighty blow and would be sent crashing to the ground below. However, Damion would not let them slip away so easily as they swooped in for the save. It would seem that Erin too had mastered the trick shot as the Bludger ricocheted off of River and towards Jorah, but again they would slip away from the blow!

Seekers

River would shoulder the blow from earlier and perform their Seeker duties with a grace under pressure. Now sharing a broom with Damion, they would search the skies for that little golden bugger called a snitch. Dan too would not allow the distraction of the match around them to get in the way of their search. River was not fortunate enough to spot the Snitch, but Dan's keen eye would serve them well!

Health and Post Tracker

Erin was just following orders when she targeted River. River was a seeker and she was a risk as long as she was in the air. She would hit the bludger with the side of her bat and with a resounding crack, the bludger would hurdle towards River. The lead ball would hit the girl hard and send her reeling off the shaft of her broom. She could hear metal against flesh, she was not gentle nor was this game kind. Even if she survived the attack, which was doubtful, her flank would be blackened for the next week.

She would look away, she did not want to see the girl crash onto the pitch lifeless. That was what was likely going to happen to her in the next few minutes if Ravenclaw knew what was good for them. If she looked, she might become afraid. She could not allow herself to become afraid, not of failure, or loss or even pain. If she came to fear, then she would find herself paralyzed.

She would find herself face to face with Cecily. The girl was recklessly barreling towards her. A dangerous notion, did she think that she could overpower her? For whatever reason, they would not tussle there, Cecily would find herself diverted. Koko would be ripped from her broom and she would fall. Erin instinctually looked away again, only to see that her quarry was saved by Dameon. Her jaw would tighten as she watched there shared ascent.

She would twirl her baton in her hand and look back towards Dan. Second time the charm?

• In the role of Beater, if you hit an opponent with a bludger the bludger will then ricochet off that user and target a second opponent of choice (must be declared, if not declared the target will be random and can be an ally but not yourself).
• In the role of Beater, if an ALLY dodges a bludger during the round, there is a 20% chance that you catch that bludger with your bat and you send it at a RANDOM enemy target.

Since Judith was in the air for only one goal, to find the snitch. She was able to still have a pretty good view on the game. The snitch was already making it a hard time since it was literally no where to be found. She could see quaffles being thrown around, even the budger passed her a few times. She was glad she could still have a kind of view on the game since she always loved watching the game with her friends, but now she's the one playing it. She drags herself out of her thoughts on the other players and returns to focus on what she was supposed to do, find that flying little golden ball.
