Tippitty, tap, tap, yippity! went Edward's shoes as he tried to attempt at tap-dancing like he had watched in one of his favorite movies, Annie. He hadn't got it quite down yet, it looked more like flailing than dancing... He stared at himself in the mirror blankly, maybe too much thoughts were rumbling in his head, or maybe it was because there are not thoughts at all. I don't think even Edward knew, GRRRRR! He looked down at his belly that sang rude offenses to it's owner. "HUSH YOU!" He said to it while adjusting his hat. "NO!" His stomach growled back at him. He had just finished up all his classes and had returned his dorm, as soon as he could he pulled out his tablet and started watching movies. And that brought him here, failing to tap-dance and his bully cursing at him for food. He hadn't known how much time had passed during his ordeal, "CRAB SICKLES!" he looked at the clock realizing he was very late, more specifically 30 minutes. A surge of panic went through him, last time this had happen he had missed dinner completely. He pulled back on his black robe over his white button-up shirt and yellow huff-puff tie. He readjusted his hat in the mirror before fleeing his room, the common room, the kitchen, and all the way to the great hall were dinner was held. Luckily, everyone was very occupied with talking and eating that they hadn't noticed him slip in. He hadn't forget how much people had laughed when he went to sit down at the wrong table, it didn't embarrass Edward he just wanted to avoid being on anyone's bad side. He walked up and down the huff puff table until he spotted an available seat. He stopped in his tracks and felt his heart jump in his chest when he saw a girl with golden hair that reached just past her shoulders accompanied by sweet pink cheeks, Cowboy Ciel. Edward couldn't help but smile revealing the small gap between his two large front teeth, strange but charming.... Right next to her sat an empty seat, he took the chance.Mentions: @Aurora Griffith, @Rita Su
"Hi Ciel!" He smiled uncontrollably at this point. "Or should I say, 'Howdy Cowboy Ciel!'?"
He had met Ciel in the huff-puff common room when he was on a fantastical mission as a pirate in search of gold and a mythical beast. It had been him, Captain Edwards, Crewmate Aurora, Cowboy Ciel, and Warrior Rita. He was happy he had someone to imagine with, back at home it was only him and his mother, everyone in Chesire was either too old or too young to play with, so he would usually play with Ben and Ava. Though they were imaginary. He only hoped he could do it again, and maybe, hopefully, they could be friends!

Ah, dinner. The second-best meal of the day (breakfast was first, obviously). Dinner was best when cooked by her mother, after all, Ciel loved her mother's homecooked dinner. But man, the options just couldn't compare to what Hogwarts had. Usually some stew (meat for her brothers, vegetable for her), some vegetables, and some fruit was what usually Ciel had for dinner. Hogwarts had many more vegetarian options for her, which was always a bonus.
Her mind had wandered to her work she had been assigned earlier that day. Something for Transfiguration, wasn't it? Oof, just the thought of doing homework for that class made Ciel sick to her stomach. Nope- her mind deserved to leave schoolwork behind for today.
'A distraction would be rather nice', she thought.
"Hi Ciel!"
She had been so lost in her thoughts before, that she hadn't even noticed the empty seat next to her become occupied by another young Hufflepuff. Her focus had changed from her food to the boy sitting next to her, and his face was remarkably familiar.
"Oh! Hi Captain!"
Edward was definitely a good distraction from her upcoming homework. He had a certain bright and imaginative personality that Ciel could easily reciprocate. Oh man, if only Rita and that other girl were here. They'd basically have the whole squad. Thinking of their little adventure that had happened not too long ago, Ciel could've giggled aloud.
"Did you come in late, or something?" she asked, returning back to her soup. "I don't think I saw you earlier."

"Oh! Hi Captain!" She said being pulled out of her thoughts. I wonder what she was thinking about. She thought again for a moment before letting out a giggle. Must be interesting!
"Did you come in late, or something?" Ciel asked, returning back to her soup which sat steaming in fron of her. "I don't think I saw you earlier!"
"Yeah, I didn't realize what time it was, got caught up tap-dancing and watching movies," He said smiling while grabbing a plate to fill up, he grabbed two forks and two buttery buns. He stabbed the forks into then holding one in each hand. "It's supposed to go like this..." He pretended the forks were legs and the buns were feet, as he made them tap dance very professionally. "But I keep doing this..." He did a much clumsier version that looked rather silly. "See? But I'll get it right with enough practice..."
He turned to look at her taking a bite of the bun on the fork.
"Do you like western movies? I'm asking because you were pretending to be a cowboy," He said after he finished chewing. "Also what type of soup is that?"
He thought about all the times he and his mother sat on the couch and watched hours of western movies, he was a fan of The Quick and the Dead as well as The good the bad and the ugly. He smiled to himself, his mother absolutely loved western movies, so naturally Edward followed, but of course they all liked a bunch of movies.

Tapdancing? Ciel didn't have a clue why Edward was trying to do that, she had seen movies with dancers that looked awfully professional. Dancing never piqued her interest, but she thought gymnastics was cool. They were related, right? Yeah, they did gymnastics in dancing sometimes! She's seen those video scenes where the dancers do backflips and cartwheels and all that cool stuff. Ciel only wishes she could do that too.

Ah yes, the key to Ciel's soul and heart. Technically, she was a cowboy. She was born and raised on a small-town farm, rode horses, took care of the farm animals... that all counted to being a cowboy, right? The only thing she hadn't done was stop a bar fight and fight some bad guys, but she thought about it!
Just thinking of taking down corrupt villains is what really kept her up at night. She did want to be the hero, just like Cowboy Ciel was. Having a shiny gold revolver and a loyal horse, with the endless deserts to explore- she was getting excited just thinking about it!
"Yeah! They're like my favoritest movies ever!" Ciel said. "I was also raised on a farm, so, that's also where I got the idea from. My dad used to be a famous barrel-racer back when he was younger. I'm trying to be like him!"
She took another slurp of her soup. She could taste the onions and carrots that the broth must've simmered in. If only she could make a soup just like the ones at Hogwarts, she'd be the most popular chef around!
"Also, what type of soup is that?"
"Vegetable soup! It's got carrots and onions and celery in it," she shrugged. "I used to eat a lot of meat-based soups, but I stopped eating meat a few years ago. It makes my stomach hurt, y'know?"

He thought about all the times he and his mother sat on the couch and watched hours of western movies, he was a fan of The Quick and the Dead as well as The good the bad and the ugly. He smiled to himself, his mother absolutely loved western movies, so naturally Edward followed, but of course they all liked a bunch of movies.
"Yeah! They're like my favoritest movies ever!" Ciel said. "I was also raised on a farm, so, that's also where I got the idea from. My dad used to be a famous barrel-racer back when he was younger. I'm trying to be like him!"
She wanted to be like her dad.... But why? Edward couldn't wrap his head around the thought, his father, Stuart, had been absent in his upbringing, he had only seen what father's looked like on his beloved movies. They were usually depicted smoking a large cigar working hard in order to provide for the family, coming with the term workaholic. But always the father ared deeply for their children and only wanted the best for them, that was not the case for him. He never really missed having a father, his mother was enough... But maybe that was why their was a small gap of loneliness in his heart.... Like he was missing a piece...

He smiled showing off the gap between his two large front teeth, strange yet charming. He stuffed some mash potatoes and gravy in his mouth, he swallowed before he continued.
"So does that mean you want to run a farm, be a cowboy, a famous barrel-racer, or all of the above? When you grow-up.... I've always wanted to be an actor but.... I wouldn't mind being a cop, you know? Shooting down all the bad guys!"
He held up his hands like a gun pretending to shoot burglars. He tucked his long hair behind his ear, so he could see better. He looked back over at Ciel, accidently catching her eyes, looking away quickly, a slight red creeping on his ears...
"A farmer would be cool too though, growing your own food, being in a peaceful place... You know?"
He said a little more quietly stuffing another spoonful of mash potatoes in his mouth, before looking back at Ciel.
"You wanna be friends?"

Hearing the word 'vegetarian' caused a memory to pop up in Ciel's mind. A certain call from her aunt to her mother, Isabella had used the word 'vegan' to describe Ciel, but she was quick to put her mother in her place. 'Actually, it's vegetarian, 'cause I still drink milk and eat cheese!' Ciel had told her mother. Though, whether or not Isabella actually listened was a different story.
She nodded towards the broth. "Yeah, I stopped eating meat when I was like 7 or 8. And eggs. Yuck, I hate eggs!" If looking at meat didn't constantly make Ciel think of the devil chickens, she probably would enjoy eating it much more. Though, since her life-long fear of the birds, meat just made her plain old sick.
"Also... What's a barrel-racer? And I guess you're already a cowboy then!"
"Barrel-racing is when you ride a horse around barrels really fast without falling. My dad was a pro, but I'm really not that good at it. I'm much better at jumping!" The number of medals and awards she had won in comparison to her father definitely wasn't much, but Ciel was proud, nonetheless. "I've got this really pretty horse named Pottage- like the soup- and we're the best duo ever!"
Talking about riding her horse always pumped Ciel up. The memories of hearing 'And in first place, Ciel Saskia!' made her happier than anything else. Once summer started, Ciel knew she had a lot of catching up to do. Going ten months with only a few times of riding was definitely not good for her beloved horse.
Pottage probably enjoyed the break, though!
"You wanna be friends?"
Ciel took to her soup for another minute. She was almost done with the bowl she had started. Yikes, hopefully dinner wasn't ending anytime soon, because she definitely wanted like fifteen more bowls! Oh- right!
"Well yeah, of course!" Ciel took one last sip of her bowl before pushing it away. "You're cool, but you need to learn more about farm life- 'cause it's not super peaceful! In fact, one time, like four horses got out of their stalls and got all over the farm! It was a huge mess, and my pop was not at all excited to clean it up." She put her hand on her chin, as though thinking. "Me and my two older brothers had to go wrangle them up and bring 'em back in! It took all day!"
Looking over her food options once more, Ciel opted for some corn and peas. Though they had been sitting on the table for a while, they were still piping hot. Man, she loved magic!

He smiled randomly.

Thinking of her brothers made Ciel feel a little melancholic. It was kind of a shock to her that she would miss them. After spending nearly eleven years with them, she was all too certain that she was ready to leave. Though, there was a certain freedom in not having to wake up at six in the morning because someone couldn't shut up.
"Yeah, I spent around half my life in the swamps of America then the other in the English Countryside..."
She perked up, she had been to America too! She was much too little to remember the experience though. Occasionally, a faint memory of seeing big deer and geese outside of a glass-screen door would pop up in the back of Ciel's mind. Vaguely, she wondered if her aunt still owned the small cottage, or the large plot of lands she had used for some kind of animal conservation. Maybe Ciel should give her a call, sometime.
"Oh, you've been to America too? I visited once when I was really little. My aunt and I stayed at her house; it was pretty small- but it was in the middle of these huge fields! Like way bigger than my farm, and she used it for 'animal conservation'." Ciel made quotation marks with her fingers. "I don't know exactly what that is, but I do know that she had lots of cool critters all around. Like big deer and stuff!"
Even after being at Hogwarts for an amount of time, Ciel really couldn't recall the last time she had seen a deer. They were always around the farm, all day every day, but it just didn't seem to be the same at Hogwarts. It was really such a shame, too.
"Ben and Ava, my brother and sister, favorite game was horses... What about you what's your favorite game?"
Envy filled Ciel; after being the only girl in her family, she longed to have a sister as well. The things they could do! Doing makeup, going shopping, helping her mama cook food, the possibilities were endless. And yet she was still stuck with her brothers, and none of them had any interest in doing "girly" things with Ciel. They were so boring!
"I like playing volleyball and basketball! You know what that is, right?" Ciel had to remember that certain students didn't come from a 'muggle' family like she did, which kind of sucked. "Out of everyone in my class, I was always the best at both games! And tag, I'm a pretty fast runner."

"Yeah, of course! I like basketball." he smiled why wouldn't he know what volleyball and basketball is? Edward didn't quite understand blood-status he hadn't even heard the words ever before, the only run-in he had had was with a girl he had met on the Hogwarts Express, she was weird but he liked her.
"Out of everyone in my class, I was always the best at both games! And tag, I'm a pretty fast runner."
Edward literally jumped when he heard the words tag.
"I love tag!" He smiled largely. "I'm a fast runner too, let's see if you're as fast as you say you are."
And in a split second he jolted out his hand to tap her shoulder and bolted away from the table and put the hall, yelling "TAG!" He really was fast, turns out he wasn't bluffing, he wasn't even sure if she was playing with him, but it didn't matter, either way he loved to run around, now he had an excuse to run around the grand halls of Hogwarts!

Oh man, wouldn't it be so cool to play basketball at Hogwarts? Or football? Ciel's mind began racing with ideas. Could you make a magical sport that wasn't quidditch? She felt kind of left out with the amount of excitement surrounding the only magic sport at Hogwarts. Honestly, riding on a broom really wasn't much of her style.
Ah, but her other friend had mentioned that riding a broom could be similar to riding a horse- and Ciel was very good at that. When she had her first flying lesson, though? It could not have been farther from the truth. She had stumbled and fell off multiple times. Just that one experience alone made her too nervous to want to become a quidditch player. Overcoming her fears was part of being a cowboy, though, wasn't it?
When she had mentioned playing tag, she had not expected Edward to immediately jump off and initiate a game. It had almost caught Ciel off guard. Keyword; almost. Just as her brothers would say, she was super competitive. Is that why she was so good at sports? Whatever- no time to dwell on that kind of stuff!
She hopped up off of the bench, leaving behind her soups and bread. Giving a half-hearted glance back towards the teachers table, nobody really seemed to notice Edward run off, so this was definitely her chance!
"You're so on!" Ciel called out, sprinting right after him. Honestly, she hadn't expected him to be so fast, but whatever, she could catch up. She wasn't gonna lose now!
