Running Late
Oh no no no! She was running late for class, for the first time in her life she was actually running late! Daphne wasn't sure what to feel more-worry or shame! She had just came from lunch, having been preoccupied with wanting to try out some food that she had never seen in her life. When she realized the time, she had scrambled to gather her things and run to the Grounds, towards the Herbology classroom. Daphne wanted to be a great student! Her mind was already running with thoughts-what if she got detention?? What if the professor yelled at her or made her stay after class? Tears naturally formed in her blue eyes from the thought, distracting her temporarily. As she made her way closer to the classroom, her watery eyes caused her vision to blur out for just a moment. Considering her hands were preoccupied, she would trip over her own black robes, dropping her supplies. With a loud thud!sound, she'd be on the ground, scraping her knee. Daphne let out a shaky breath and sat up, brushing the blonde strands of hair from her face. "...Bloody hell." She cursed out for once. Tears continued to roll down her cheeks, the girl completely forgetting that she was in public.

Running Late
I was stressing to get to Herbology. I was always naturally late for everything, including class. It was the same back at my muggle school, too. My friend Dahlia and I would run through the corridors and arrive at class in a sweaty mess. Not only was class outside this time, but there were so many students! I could barely see where I was going! If I only there was a bright, flashing sign that said, "Herbology, right this way." Just then, I heard someone curse out, and I swiveled around quickly(nearly dropping my school things)to find a blonde girl on the ground, crying. She seemed to have dropped her supplies. Worried, I ran over to her. "Is everything all right?" Ok. that was stupid. Of course everything wasn't all right! If it was, she wouldn't be crying! Desperate to make up for my mistake, I quickly amended, "I-I mean, what's wrong? What's bothering you?" I'm really not good at being sentimental! I didn't have to often, because when a person was sad and I tried to cheer them up, nothing would ever work, so I didn't. But I was going to this time. I tried one more time. "Oh gosh, what I actually meant was...do you need a hug?" I felt like hitting myself. If Dahlia or my brother Sammy had heard that, they probably would say that my sentimentality was very questionable...

Running Late
Daphne looked up, having
a surprised expression on her face from the sight of the redhead girl. She still looked embarrassed, lowering her head and biting down on her lip. At least nobody was laughing at her.. She took in a deep breath and sat up, forcing a smile on her face. Daphne quickly rubbed at her watery eyes with the sleeve of her robes, but the tears just kept coming. "I-I'm late to class, I've never been late to a class before! I want to be a top student, I was just trying a new food at lunch and got carried away. What if I get detention?" She likely was overreacting but as a first year she didn't really know that. When the girl mentioned a hug, she rose an eyebrow, looking somewhat confused. Daphne did need a hug, but she wasn't expecting for a stranger to offer that. Then again this was a fellow Hufflepuff so perhaps she shouldn't be so surprised. "Yes...please." Daphne sighed. "I am truly sorry if I am annoying you." Her gaze softened just a bit as she gathered up her books, putting the largest at the bottom. "I just really care about my grades.."

Running Late
The girl looked up, seeming to be quite surprised. I flushed, feeling quite embarrassed. Quickly, I clutched my nose since I usually blush around the bridge of my nose, and it looks blotchy. When the girl mentioned that she was late for class, I sympathized with her. After all, it happened to me every day. When she added that she had never been late to class before, my eyes widened. Never been late to class?! I'd never known anybody who was never late to class at least once in their lives before! I wondered what that must be like. Nice, I imagined. But, the girl said that she wanted to be a top student, and she wondered if she was going to get detention for this. So, I said, "I'm sure that everything's gonna be alright. And, I'm pretty sure that you won't get detention at all, I should know. Don't worry, being late is not the end of the world. I wondered if that had been the wrong thing to say, but if it had, then there was no taking it back now! When the girl said agreed that she would like a hug, I gave her one. When I released her, she sighed and apologized if she was annoying me. "What? No, you're not annoying me at all! If you were, I wouldn't have given you a hug!" I said, attempting to make her laugh or feel better. "And," I added when the girl mentioned caring about her grades, "Grades are important, they are. I understand now." After helping her gather up her things, I was tired of not knowing her name, so I asked, By the way, what's your name? I don't believe I caught it. Mine's Aurora, but you can call me Ro. Okay, maybe I wasn't so non-sentimental after all...

Running Late
Daphne just tilted her head and smiled, before raising an eyebrow in curiosity. Was this girl implying that she had went to detention before? That must make her a total daredevil! She naturally widened her eyes from the thought, now wondering how she was viewed by her. Daphne was a total pacifist and had little guts within her-it would be pretty easy to push her around or make fun of how 'soft' she is. She could only imagine how people who went to detention or even got yelled at by teachers felt. Of course she didn't see troublemakers as necessarily bad but people who just did things differently. Of course, considering they weren't hurting others with their stunts. She didn't think Aurora was a troublemaker or bad at all though, but rather more experienced. Daphne smiled widely from the hug, giving the redhead girl a soft squeeze in return. Once all of her books and supplies were gathered, she tucked it securely under arm where it wouldn't fall again. "Oh, I'm Daphne! You can call me Daph, yeah." Honestly it was the only nickname she could think for herself. "I love your name, Ro! Reminds me of the Disney princess."

Running Late
I had finally been able to cheer someone up- and it actually working! How many times has that happened? Not many! And I was glad that she had a name that I could call her by. When Daph said that she liked my name and that it reminded her of the Disney princess Aurora, I blushed. "Thanks!" I said. I got that a lot. I did really like my name, and so did my mom, which is why she picked it for me. It was nice when people said that they liked my name, often because of the princess. But enough about my name. I did well in school and everything, but usually, the only reason I would EVER get into trouble was for being late. I did wish that I wasn't always as late to class as I usually was, but I wasn't sure how to change that. Maybe Daph here could show me how to have better time management! After all, my parents did say that I really needed to work on that anyway. I casually pushed my hair out of my eyes and asked, "So, Daph...you did say that this was your first being late to class, wasn't it? Because you seem to be really good at time management, maybe you could help me?" I crossed my fingers tightly, hoping that I had said the right thing.

"You're welcome!" Daphne had completely forgot about the fact that the longer she stayed talking to Aurora, the later she would be. But perhaps it wouldn't matter anyway, as long as she got good grades one attendance grade wouldn't bring it all down, right? "Yep! It's my first time. I'd be happy to help you out, Ro! First, you have to study your schedule. Like, if your classes are before or after lunch. If before, make sure you wake up early and get some sort of energy drink or caffeine at breakfast! Is there an energy spell?" She first explained, having to take a long breath between words. "And if it's after lunch, just make sure to get to the Great Hall early or even try to sneak some snacks in your pockets...of course if you don't get in trouble." The last thing she wanted was for Aurora to get detention. "As for Astronomy, I believe you can always make the excuse of being stopped in the halls since we have curfews. Annd the walk to the tower is pretty long. I once tripped on the stairs!" Jeez, maybe she couldn't blame the food for being late but her own clumsiness.

I nodded and listened to Daphne's tips about how to use time management. It all seemed simple enough, for somebody that's not of course. But that didn't mean I wouldn't try. I decided not to trouble Daph by asking her how one studies a schedule(or studies at all), I would probably figure that out for myself. Hopefully. I had thought that having some energy when the day started was a thing that only adults did, but apparently, some Hogwarts students did it too. Getting up early wouldn't be a problem, I had learned to be a morning person. "Oh, thank you so much Daph! I'll try my best to take your advice!" It would be a drastic change in my routine, but I could easily cope with that. "And who knows, maybe I'll even see you again!" I said, smiling. I'll set a goal for myself, I thought. The next time I see Daphne, which I most likely will see her again, I'll never have been late to another class from this day onward. I just hoped it would work... "Well, thank you, Daphne! We'd better hurry, or we might miss the entire Herbology lesson!" I said, looking towards the greenhouses.

Running Late
By now, they were both definitely late to class but Daphne was surprisingly not that worried. That was weird...she was just crying about this but now she felt calm, and at peace. All thanks to Aurora...she didn't need to be such a stickler, even if it was so early in the school year. There was still a ton of homework to do and chances to get her grades up in the case they ever slipped anyway. "Now that we're friends I'll make sure that we keep seeing each other again! Even if you're late I'll check outside the class to see if you're coming or even cover for you and tell the professor you're sick if need be." Daphne boldly stated. She had never been a liar before but this was technically a good deed.. and she believed it was unlikely that professors wouldn't trust her. As much as she hated to admit it, half-Veelas did have alluring effects-aka she could do those innocent 'puppy eyes' look better than the average person. However with great abilities came great responsibility. "Now let's go, Ro!" Daphne then looked towards the greenhouses, nodding in acknowledgment and taking Aurora's hand, leading her to class.
