The Heck?

Winnie had been the recipient of something dangerous, not the sort of thing that would have inconvenienced the muggle born but quite possibly could have killed her. Mathias, in whatever state he would have been immediately after the ball or perhaps even the next day, was writing a letter with a perturbed expression on his face.

A hag doll? The hags were killed, he knew that much. It was a sort of scorched earth scenario from what he was told in retaliation for his son's murder. Indeed, there were deals made that went above the student level and like all deals made by a hag, they served purposes never intended by the maker of the deal. Purposes most lived to regret, Thaddeus included as it cost him the life of his son indirectly. So, they died in turn and knowing his uncle they did not die well. The sort of life that his family lived was bolster not by just the privilege bought by money but more so by information. They had a vice grip on the fates and wizarding society, at the very least the lower parts, were more than happy to attempt to improve their lot.
If you try to kill my girlfriend again, you will need to send me further away than Japan to keep me quiet.

Mathias
There was nothing more to say. he would in time come to regret his rash accusation. Mostly because he was wrong, his uncle made no such attempt against Winnie Harper nor did he supply someone else with the means.

The Heck?
A letter would return on blackened wing. A strange owl, too small some might argue to carry the large, gilded scroll box clasped in its fine, long, narrow talons clasps the lid tightly yet the small creature was the size of a fist and pure black, less its eyes with were a queer, piercing blue. A loud HOO would startle the agitated teen who was sulking about the grounds.

It was from his uncle, his love of all that glitters and is gold was a carnal sign of his uncle's pervasive arrogance. He expected something terrible to come from the letter encased in the heavy burden held aloft by such a small owl. There was no hesitation, anger makes one rash. He would open the case and a small puff of smoke would be released, a choking scent that smelled strongly of blood.

He opened the scroll, allowing the tightly rolled parchment to unfurl. The letter contained within was unexpected.
Mathias;

Is she alive? If she is, I made no attempt. Do not confuse me with the gauche, unfacile wizards that comprise a majority of modern society. Death is a simple solution for an often complex issue. Make your mistakes now, discover for yourself how untenable a real relationship is. Your continued affections for the muggleborn only benefit me, I had no inclination that you would have fared adequately in the Hexwizard Tournament, you were nothing but fodder for my intended champion. Handing your token to another younger, likely weaker Champion only benefits my desired ends. You have done nothing I do not already desire. You won't step out of line because you simply can't.
It was unsigned, he would never sign such a letter clearly. His face contorted into something ugly, he could not stand the man who was playing all of them like marionettes. He wondered and a stupid part of him even considered before a modicum of intelligence sunk in, telling him he was why Vladimir had died. Did he really see that coming?
