Ileen slipped through the crowd like a ghost. Her bare feet made no sound on the cold pavement and goose bumps covered her bare arms. The only thing that gave some warmth was the simple white dress and her thick hair, which fell open over her shoulders down to the elbows. The front strands were held together by a golden barrette, which on closer inspection was decorated with small flowers, but also thorns.
Ileen should have been freezing. Her body was cold, especially her hands and feet, but she did not notice it. Some glances slid over the young girl and then returned with a frown. Star-money was not a well-known fairy tale, perhaps no one could understand why she showed up here without shoes, coat or anything. The girl that gave up everything. Selfless. Pure. Good. And rewarded in the end by the stars falling from the sky for her.
Ileen wanted to be that girl. She had tried to be that girl so bad, but she had failed. She had turned away because of her confusion when she had known that she should have stayed. And yet she was here, hoping, waiting for that moment to make it right and to get the reward after all. So she had shown up, stripped down everything she had - she had given up so much. Pride, friendship, sleep, peace, maybe even a boyfriend don’t tell Percival - because she had tried to protect him. Selfless it might seem. Good and pure even. But Ileen started to doubt that. Part of her knew that it hadn’t been about him at first. More about doing the right thing and successfully having a good impact. But now, she knew there was more to it. Attachment. Longing. She desperately wanted him back. Wasn’t that selfish?
However, after all, she was here. Barefoot and desperate. Waiting for someone to pull her back to sanity, to the real world since she had started to drift even further to the shadows where she thought he was. She knew that they had told her that he was gone for good, but she didn’t believe it. He was here with her. He always was, staring at her from the shadows and looking over her shoulder, reminding her that she owed him, that she had sworn to pull him back from the darkness.
Ileen was so consumed by her own thoughts that she didn’t pay attention to the weird looks that were coming her way. Her dark eyes just quickly screened the crowd for familiar faces, maybe her date? Was it unfair to Percival to be on a date with him while she wasn’t even showing up alone to begin with? They had never really addressed it, but the fact that he got angry about everything regarding Victor had made Ileen question Percival. She liked him. She wanted to be here with him, although she still didn’t know what they actually were and how she felt about him - but even more so she wanted to find the real part of the boy that had become her shadow. Even now, she could see the blue eyes next to her. Where are you?.
The young Slytherin made her way to a sheltered corner of the decorated and stuffed yard close to the buffet and placed her hands on the wall to somehow get back in touch with reality. Her eyes were fixed on the blue ones that stared back. “I know. I want to find you. Just… give me a sign.” As always he said nothing and Ileen felt the familiar pain and guilt. Her fingers turned white on the wall and her teeth dug so deeply into her lower lip that she began to bleed.
Wasn’t it time for her stars to fall from the sky for her? Someone should pull her back tonight. She felt like it was her only chance to finally get her life back and let this go for good. Because the one who couldn’t let him be dead was her. “I am sorry. I need to find my date first.” Slowly she turned around and looked back at the entrance. Her hallucinations had reached a new level. Ileen needed someone real to talk to her. Hurry Percival.

Mentioning:─────────────────── This was a bad idea.
A very, very, very bad idea. She shouldn't have said yes to Ethan, and she honestly has absolutely no idea what other being possessed her during that one minute time period and forced the words 'yeah, sure' to come out of her mouth, but it had certainly made a mistake. Multiple times she contemplated just not going. Even tonight, when she was getting dressed, she still contemplated not going. But that would be too mean, she didn't actually have anything against Ethan. He was nice, and even though their whole conversation in the Great Hall was slightly awkward and had left Adelaide feeling weird for hours after, for a multitude of reasons, he didn't seem like a terrible guy. So, she really, truly did not know why her entire body was protesting against tonight.
Maybe she was just catastrophizing, thinking the worst was going to happen, when in actuality the night probably wouldn't be that bad. Hopefully. Really, what could go wrong? They'd talk for a bit, maybe dance, maybe get some food, and that'd be it. Over and done with. Adelaide had spent so much time pacing around her dorm room, cuddling her cat, Nina, for comfort and moral support, that she was now slightly late to the ball. She'd checked her outfit one last time in the mirror, stroked Nina's fur and kissed her on the forehead one last time before heading to the courtyard.
When she finally arrived at the courtyard to find quite a lot of people already there - though she didn't seem to be overly late, which was a good thing - she took a minute to appreciate the decorations around the courtyard. Every ball, the committee never failed to outdo themselves. The theme of the ball was fairytales, and the courtyard had certainly been decorated to look the part. Adelaide, herself, had chosen to dress inspired by Cinderella, one of the Grimm's Fairytales. The Ravenclaw had donned a lavish blue gown with a beautiful, intricate design covering the dress, and sheer, poofy sleeves to accompany it. Even though her shoes were not visible unless she lifted her gown up, she had still put on a pair of beautiful white heels complete with a bow and her hair had been left down, with a gorgeous circlet that had white flowers on it to accessorize. She never really went full out with makeup, so she had only put on some mascara and clear lipgloss.
Adelaide made a mental note to check out everything the ball had to offer up close further into the night, but for now she had to find her date. As she scanned every face in search for Ethan, a biting chill whipped at her skin and she couldn't help but shiver. Maybe she should've brought a jacket, she didn't expect it to be this cold. Then she spotted the familiar face she was searching for, and the chill air was no longer a current concern. There was really no going back now. She was here, dressed up, and she had spotted her date.
Deep breath. It would not be as bad as she thought it was going to be. It'd be fine. It was just one night. Steeling herself, she plastered on the most genuine smile she could muster before walking towards Ethan, "Ethan! Hey!" She greeted the boy, "How have you been?" No one had ever told her how you were meant to greet your date at a ball. Her mother could probably give her advice, but she'd never bothered to owl her and inform her that she actually had a date to the Fall Ball. The woman would probably kill Adelaide when or if she found out that Adelaide actually had a date and didn't even bother to tell her mother about it. But that was something she'd deal with later. Did you shake their hand? Hug them? Greet them with a kiss? Okay, no, definitely not that one. Not happening. A normal greeting would surely suffice, right?
"So, where do you want to go first?" She asked, looking around at the courtyard and the plethora of various options available to them. They could dance, or maybe eat some food first, or even go to the petting zoo. The night was still young, though, and there was time to check out everything.Action: Arriving

Let's Dance!
When AngelFyre first began to discuss her plans of possibly taking inspiration from the sea witch instead of the little mermaid herself, Simon thought it was a joke. The second? The third? Same. It wasn't until she was going into more elaborate details that Simon realized that she had given this a lot of actual thought - whether it was to literally be the sea witch or just to mess with him, he became unsure. She was becoming quite convincing with details to back up her words and it wasn't until he saw her that he realized she went the little mermaid route.
Granted, he had read up on the original fairy tale so he had reference for the night, but his first exposure to any little mermaid was the Disney version and honestly, Ariel was hot and Ursula was not. There was the part where she disguised herself as Vanessa, but Simon would still take Ariel any day, talking or not.
"You really know how to put yourself together," he smiled to her, looking at each detail as it caught his eye - from her dress to her nails to her hair - she looked absolutely exquisite. "You're more beautiful than any author could put into words."
The entered further into the Courtyard and Simon was glad that this Ball started so late. The sky in the Scottish Highlands had already turned black and the stars shown above them. It was chilly, and Simon hoped that AngelFyre was warm enough. He actually enjoyed the temperature.
There was food to eat, but he wasn't interested in that, but would be willing to head to the feast table if his date wanted. There was a petting zoo, but no dragon. There was music, playing, from.... somewhere. It wasn't exactly the easiest to dance to but it was the only music they had, unless - unless he decided to sing something.
"Since you've got legs now, why don't we test them out? See how they do?" he smiled to her and turned his hand out, palm up, toward her so she could place her hand into his. He would then lead her over to where it seemed the music was a little louder and his hands moved to her waist as he stepped toward her, closing the gap between them. This wasn't the first time they were so close but he found great enjoyment in it each and every time. He began to move with her, but the music just didn't seem to really carry much accompaniment.
"I've got sunshine, on a cloudy day
When it's cold outside, I've got the month of May
I guess, you'd say
What can make me feel this way
My girl..."
He began to sing, not loud, as he didn't want to disrupt the others dancing, but certainly loud enough for his date to hear.

Ethan was waiting for Adelaide, but he didn't see her anywhere. He was getting impatient, and he started tapping his foot. He looked around, but he still couldn't see her. He started to worry that maybe she got lost on her way here, or that something came up and she's busy. But then he started to think, what if she just doesn't want to come? Did he say something that would offend her? He started to worry that maybe he had said something to offend her, and that was why she wasn't coming. He tried to remember what he had said to her last, and the only thing he could think of was how crazy in love with her he was. He just hoped she would show up soon.
He fidgets with his hands while he paces back and forth, sweating slightly despite the coolness of the autumn evening. He had been looking forward to this moment for days. He practiced the words he would say in his head over and over again. Hey Adelaide! How are you? Yes, I'm fine. Thank you. He wanted to make sure he sounded casual and not too eager. Practice makes perfect, he tells himself. He doesn't want to mess this up.
Ethan remembered the first time he saw his uncle and auntie dancing together. He has always been close to his Uncle Steven. He admired the close relationship he had with his wife, Ethan's Auntie Mel. He wants to experience that same feeling of being in love and being able to rely on someone sweet and romantic like his uncle seems to be.
He was lost in thought when he suddenly heard someone calling his name. He turned around and saw Adelaide. She looked even more beautiful than he remembered. She was wearing a blue dress that flowed down to her feet. When he saw her, it seemed as if time had stopped once more. All of his senses seemed to zero in on her; he could see her perfectly, even though she was far from him. As if all of the blood in his body had suddenly flowed to his head, he was unable to move, think, or even breathe. He gazes into her eyes, conveying all the love and adoration he has for her in that moment.
All of a sudden, all the love songs he heard were about her. It was like every lyrics was written just for her. It was as if the musicians had known she would come along and they were just waiting for her. All the songs felt like they were made just for her. If everyone were to be silent for just a moment, they would be able to hear Ethan's heartbeat. It races whenever she's around, beating for her in a way that makes him feel both vulnerable and alive. His hand trembles as he presses it against his chest, over his heart. He can feel it pounding against his palm, as if trying to escape. It feels like it's going to burst out of his chest at any moment. But no matter how hard he tries, he can't make it stop.
He opened his mouth to say something, but no word came out. All he can do is stare at her in wonder, trying to find the words to describe how beautiful she is. She is so beautiful, absolutely stunning. Her beauty catches his eye like the sun on a clear day. It is blinding, yet he can't help but stare. She is like a rose, with her petals so soft and her stem so strong. She is the definition of perfection. He wanted to say those words, but the only thing he could say was “Wow.” He finally spoke up, saying “You really took my breath away.” He added, “I- I'm doing good. How about you?” He was so nervous that he began to stutter.
He gazed upon the courtyard, looking at the people dancing. The colors of their clothes swirled around them as they moved, and the light from the setting moon shone upon them, making them look like they were glowing. Then he turned his attention to Adelaide, the woman beside him. “You know, I had heard that a beautiful princess was going to be attending the ball, and I wanted to meet her.. I didn't realize that she was standing next to me.” He said, looking at her intently. “May I have this dance?” He held out his hand and waited for her to take it.ACTION

There weren't many happenings around the courtyard that would turn heads. No breakout of fights nor loud arguments- something that was almost a staple at events like these. Just ballgoers enjoying their time, the company of friends and dates, food and dance. So far, so good, the event remained undisrupted by any shenanigans and conflicts of its attendees - for now.

RAUL *insert other names* CORREA poured himself a cup of burgundy liquid. Surely it was the boy's first time at Hogwarts, which might credit his lack of apprehension of the bowl being spiked - as it were a fairly common occurrence in balls. Thankfully, the drink wasn't spiked... but strangely, the goblet felt warm, quite strange given that this sweet beverage certainly seemed like a drink that needed to maintain its chilliness than warmed up.

Joining Raul by the table was Soraia Sampaio, she was quick to compliment him on his outfit. While others may hold some scepticism, Soraia dived right in and help herself to some food and drinks. @Howard White came to the ball for one thing only: the food and drink. He quickly found the table, he would feast on the platter, stuffing his cheeks full. Slices of pies and stews, the boy had a big appetite. Before leaving towards the petting zoo, he would take a bite of an apple, something healthy to balance his heavy meal with perhaps. With evil an hag witch in his life, now all Snow Howard White needed was a few dwarves. Little did he know the apple had been tapered with and was spiked with bulgeye potion. It wasn't long before his eyes swelled in size... an allergic reaction to apples perhaps?

@Opeila Seilun would help herself to the food table. She would take a goblet and pour herself some of the burgundy liquid. Opeila would also take a serving of apple pie. Little did she know that the apples used for the pies had been tapered with. It wasn't long before she would feel the effects of the spiked pie. Slowly but surely, soon she would grow increasingly uneasy, restless and anxious. Soon Opeila would become paranoid, unable to tell friends from foe and there was a growing desire to lash out. Today, it seemed luck was not on Opeila's side. The goblet she had in hand for a while, managing a few sips before it trembled as it shifted in front of her eyes. The red liquid spilled as the goblet morphed into a spider, crawling up her arm, but before it could bite, the poor spider would be shaken off.

xxxxxNo secret to others was Maggie Hawkins' love for Halloween. The holiday just exuded good energy, oozed with sweetness and sugar in a way that wasn't just the candy. Maybe it was the way that the decorations hung around, the way that children on street corners laughed hysterically when complimented for their costumes and walked away from those who gave them candy with wide grins on their faces. Maggie was too sophisticated for that now, sure she was, wrapped up in her magic school and frilly gown.
Ordinarily, her grandmother would have nothing to do with her. No use for a half-blood who couldn't perform the adequate amount of magic required for a Hawkins, she'd say, which was whatever. Not like Maggie cared. Now, though, when her mother had written to the woman asking if she'd sew the girl a dress for a Hogwarts ball, she had jumped at the opportunity. Within weeks, a beautiful gown arrived in the Great Hall wrapped up in bows and parchment. A brown dress, white lace, studded with fake candies and pearls, ribbons tying up the back. Her hair, done immaculately up, was pinned with pearls.
Hansel and Gretel wished they had the vibes Maggie did.
Of course, she'd selected her ball partner on a panicked whim. Leonard Oaksworth was pretty cool, if Maggie was being entirely honest, but not really who she'd wanted to go with. That didn't matter, though. It was too late to be upset about it now.
Leo wasn't here yet, as it were, and the girl stepped into the courtyard with bated breath and wide eyes. It was done up beautifully, with fairy lights strewn across the yard and twinkling overhead. They were nothing compared to the sharp moonlight up above that bathed the entire courtyard in a milky twilight. It was beautiful, truly, and Maggie reached down to smooth her dress. All around her, girls in beautiful gowns billowed over the stone and boys with their designer suits shifted gaze from here to there and back. The moon almost looked ghostly up ahead, as if foretelling something Maggie couldn't quite decipher.
She grabbed a goblet and held it aloft, dipping the ladle into the container of drink and spooning it into her goblet.Interactions |![]()

The only thing that connected him to the theme was his long sleeved-shirt with frills attached to the chest area, the collar tied with a droopy pale blue ribbon, and his leather shoes. Everything else? Quite modernistic. At least one thing people could appreciate was his attempt to match his colours. His greyish blue coat hung on his shoulders, swaying behind him as he walked around the ball. Clearly, he took time to pin the jacket to stick to his shoulders than to put his arms in the sleeves like the way jackets are actually supposed to be worn (cough* movie howl *cough). A belt was worn around his waist, hiding the tucked in parts of his shirt. Making him look more taller than he actually is.
His hair was nothing new to when you saw it yesterday. Just more brushed. In fact the only thing different about his whole face is the added splash of colour to his eyes. Surrounding his eyelid rests light blue eyeshadow accompanied with light eyeliner. Completing his whole ‘ beauxbaton colour’ look. (If asked if this was his intention, he will deny vehemently)
If you look close enough at his eyes, you may notice the shimmer from his eyeshadow.

Cu Sith
He didn’t want to be here. But from past experience, he learned that things never go his way. At least 99% of the time, at least. A percentage that should have encouraged him to confine in the safety of his room. Alas, that would have been the case if he didn’t know himself enough.
Compared to choosing someone distractingly pretty to have fun with and wallowing in thoughts about endless ‘why’s’, it was clear which one he ended up choosing. He spent very little time with his outfit. After being rejected and lied to, he failed to take time in choosing more attention grabbing outfits.
Giving himself one more spin in front of the mirror, he proceeded out with extra shimer of confidence. One that depleted once more the closer he got to the ball area. This was a..bad idea. When had going out alone ever given him actual peace. Drama followed him like a plague. Memorable, and headache inducing. Speaking of being followed..
Hanako stopped in his tracks, side eyeing the creature hiding in the grass. “ Cu Sith ?” Unlike the plague of drama, this particular snake was not an obviously blaring fact. The snake made itself known as she slithered her way in front of the boy. She looked up at him expectantly. Words were not something you expected from Cu Sith. Not cohesive ones at least. But when you hanged out with her enough, you learn to assume what she’s saying. In this particular case: she wants to follow him.
“ Hhh…You know how I feel about these sort of events. “
“ Not cute…”
“Nu-uh don’t go there. Need I remind you of the last time I brought you to an event? Barely a minute since we arrived and someone was set on fire. And that’s just a small scale party compared to this ball.”
Her silence was unnerving. Her unblinking eyes, hopefully pleading. Hanako squirmed under her gaze. Being much taller than her didn’t matter, for her puppy dog eyes were too powerful of an attack. “ No “ he looked away “ No no no. There is no way I’m allowing..” He took one last look at her, and sighed. “ No way am I allowing you to move from my sight” With that confirmed, he ignored Cu Sith hiss of delight and continued walking to the ball area. His snake companion spared no time following suit.
And the unplanned antics just keep on coming. Perhaps it was a blessing in disguise, to have Cu Sith around him. Not many had the same calming effect she had on him. Plus, who knows. The last ball didn't end up in flames. Maybe the hogwarts ball curse was ...broken at last?

“ This place… why did it have to be this place…” the courtyard had always fascinated Hanako. Good air, good space, usually favourable population. And even he - as much as he liked to deny it - thought the area looks beautiful. At the entrance, he could do nothing but admire the detail, the decor, the ambience, the costumes. And yet he felt like he had lost somehow. Or someone at least. One he had met at this very same courtyard.
He decided things quickly. Often times, even trick himself into deciding things he seemed more favourable. He knew he wanted to hate this ball. To spread gossip about how horrid this ball is and what a terrible job the ones in charge did. To fully hate Alec for the shit he pulled. Show how much it hurt when he never told him about his relationship with Pea. That the devil in pretty hair herself had the golden opportunity to inform him.
Part of him pushed him. See? Friends aren’t worth shit. They make you happy, then lie, then leave. No one ever cared about you. Why even bother trying? Thoughts bred more thoughts, pulling him in the sweet temptations of returning to his old self. The one that would likely have made it his active job to wreck the whole ball. But… here he was. At the ball. With his snake. And admiring the effort Alec put in this ball.
Pathetic. This was pathetic. If it wasn’t for Cu Sith’s excitedly glance towards the more populated parts of the ball, he would’ve returned to his room.
Hey, he was in a bad mood. Perhaps a distractingly pretty face could help him forget his turmoil. With lighter steps, he walked into the ball with Cu Sith trailing behind him once again. While walking, he heard the general ‘ OOOOOOHHHHSSSSS ‘ and ‘ AAAAAAAAAHHHHHHH ‘ and ‘ CUUUUUUUUTTTTEEEEEE ‘ from Cu SIth. Earning a small chuckle from the boy who did his best to not let it show. Well, if a pretty date isn’t going to magically show up, he could at lest rely on Cu Sith to keep him entertained.

Then they had arrived at the cursed area: the food table. Hanako didn’t even look at the goblets. Cursed drinks. They had to be cursed drinks. Food on the other hand, if he had more of an appetite, they would be paid more attention to. One particular thing that did interest him was the bucket filled with different shades of apples. He wasn’t the only one peering over it. Cu Sith had somehow lifted herself high enough to gawk at the apples. She looked back to Hanako, and then the apples, and then her lower hand less body, and she showed early signs of crying.
With an eye roll and an amused grin, Hanako picked out a random apple. “This one?” Cu Sith swayed her head side to side. Shame of a good apple. With little to no hesitance, Hanako threw the apple over his shoulder and on to an unsuspecting bystander. Clearly, he was too confident no one would come near someone with a snake on the loose.
Hanako picked another and did the same thing. This time, gaining a loud “ CUUUUUTTTEEE “ of approval from the snake. “ Psfttt. Fine. Have it then. “ he knelt down and rested the pink apple on the ground. Cu Sith, clearly pleased, circled around the apple. As if preserving art of immense value, she merely watched it with awe while maintaining a good distance from it. Extrodinary art requires delicate care, he assumed.

”I am so excited! I haven’t been at a party for soooo long!” The red knight, alias Amina, jumped up and down, beaming and clapping her hands, unable to handle the amount of energy that pumped through her body. Since everyone in their group had committed to play a character from Alice in Wonderland and a certain Italian guy had picked the white knight she had to go for the red one. Naturally…
Her bright green eyes lit up as she beamed at Yefim, with whom she had left the Durmstrang camp. Unfortunately, she had not been able to see off Valentin, but she would certainly run into him soon enough. Today would be a great evening. She had so many plans! Hopefully her mystery date would show up, but if not, she certainly wouldn't be bored.
Although the girl was bursting with energy, it could not be said that she had put much of it into her costume. It simply consisted of her Durmstrang school uniform (red, good enough!) and a wooden sword that she had temporarily tucked into her belt. The Bulgarian had not even bothered to change her white sneakers for elegant shoes.
Nevertheless, she was sputtering with self-confidence. Who cared if the costume was accurate or fancy? She certainly didn't.
As they approached the Courtyard (Amina jumped more than walked), something suddenly occurred to her and she stopped, rooted to the spot, and dramatically grabbed the tall boy's arm. "Wait wait wait. They're not doing ballroom dancing, are they?" With feigned horror, she turned her head to him, only to tilt it with a cheeky grin. "Because that's lame."
Overall, though, Amina was very taken with the ball. It gave her so many opportunities to meet people, fool around with her friends, and just have fun. The castle was really beautiful, and she already felt right at home, especially here alongside her champion - who, by the way, had taken on the role of the dragon-like jabberwocky.
She stared at him thoughtfully, chewing on her lower lip. "You know what? I don't think a knight should just be.... walking!" Dramatically, she threw her hands in the air. "I think it would be more appropriate to appear on the back of a dragon." The grin returned to her face and she boldly propped her hands on her hips. “What do you think, Yeffy? Would you like to be my dragon?" After Valentin, he was probably her favorite although he wasn’t playing quidditch - that meant a lot! Her and Yefim's humor aligned well and she had known that they were meant to be friends after she had just walked up to him to ask him if she could join his team. And - he was a pretty boy. Amina had a weakness for those special creatures…
If he allowed it, she would deftly jump onto his back in piggyback style and draw her sword as she wrapped a hand around his chest and wrapped her legs around his waist. Her petite frame didn’t bring much weight, but yet she would try to support him by holding herself in position. Lovingly, she would tousle his thick black hair and then point her wooden sword forward. "Full speed ahead!"

Bubba gave himself a once-over in the mirror. He wanted to make that he looked absolutely perfect. For the first time in his life, he'd used Sleekeazy's Hair Potion to get his hair perfect down to the last follicle. It was vital for him to look his best. He'd never been on anything resembling a date before and wanted to give it every chance of going as perfectly as possible. He turned to the side and appraised himself. The cobalt blue dinner jacket fit him perfectly, he obviously hadn't gained any weight since the start of term because the tailoring held up. Everything was in the right place. He looked down at the sleeves - just the slightest bit of the white shirt cuff extending out - once again, it was exactly as he'd hoped. For at least the fifth time since he'd dressed he looked down at his shoes (which were oxfords, not brogues) and checked them, still as shiny as the first time he looked - he'd spent far too much time polishing them that afternoon. He looked down at the scarf, that was the only question. It was a bit brisk and he'd be going down to the courtyard so he had to decide if he wanted to wear it. It was a very nice scarf (the kind that says 'I'm better than you, and you know it') but it really didn't go with his suit. He decided he could deal with it being brisk and finally turned and headed out of his dormitory.
As he made his way through the Ravenclaw common room and the corridors, heading outside, he thought about the whirlwind of the last month. It had been quite a shock to him when he finally realized why Sam had been behaving so oddly around him. He thought that she was just weird or, well, something, but no, it had turned out she actually like him. It had also been interesting because once he understood that he also understood why he had been so odd around Greta at camp.
Since he had become a prefect, he and Sam had been hanging out a bit more and the more they spent time together, the more he realized that he really had similar feelings for her as she had for him. He was just glad somebody had finally told him what it all meant otherwise he was pretty sure he'd have never figured it out. But he knew now and now he was getting ready for his first-ever date - whatever that was - he just wanted to have a nice time and spend time with Sam. And he certainly wanted her to like his suit.
As he made it to the courtyard he felt rather silly. They were both in Ravenclaw, why hadn't they simply met in the common room? Oh well, it was too late for that now. He surveyed the area and took everything in. He saw what unmistakably had to be Cinderella's glass slipper in a pile of old raggedy shoes, what looked like a blackthorn bush, and what almost certainly had to be some real fairy lights. All in all, it was a lovely setting. He decided to walk around and check everything out while he waited for Sam to arrive.

Outfit | General description beyond clothes:
Alec's curly brown hair is tied back into a ponytail, various pins decorate the vest he's wearing, and unlike what has become the usual routine, Alec has made no effort to hide the ways his lips look. His lips were strangely dark with darker lines extending from his mouth, It resembles the curse that students had in the past. The boy seemed to think that by now it would have been more trouble than it was worth to cover up, he would have needed much more than lipstick.
Everything with Pea had started out so perfectly. Alec was making his rounds to the abandoned toilets when he realized he could faintly hear the sobs of a girl. She was a person shattered by misfortune, the cruel callousness of life. It would have been shallow to think of her as just but a broken person though the anguish she was experiencing had been what drew him in. He could relate to her, was he allowed to say he understood everything she was going through even without having gone through it himself? Alec wanted her to be okay.
It was as if he was apart of some cheap romance novel, predictable, as if how Alec had begun comforting Pea on the other side of a stall in an abandoned bathroom was clearly an indicator of future romance. Ah yes- what a whirlwind of a tale that must be, an aging rather uncleanly abandoned bathroom and the two protagonists, only separated by the door of a bathroom stall. As much as Alec was willing to make fun of the whole situation, really, it all had started out so lovely. They talked and they talked, with but the door of a bathroom stall between them. Truly open and honest conversations Pea and as he had begun to realize included him as well, open and honest conversations neither of them could seemed to have had anywhere else. It was nice.
Alec had never such a longing to know what a person looked like in his life. He wouldn't have cared, he knew he wouldn't have. Yet seeing Pea in his mind had been the final piece, to a puzzle, a person. A face to words. Ironically their first time going out had been the first time they saw each other face to face. He had never been quite sure how to feel, about the recognition of who she was, how he had known her before. It was hard to fit both images together, and so he didn't. First impressions tended to be inaccurate anyway right?
They started going out and all seemed okay until suddenly it wasn't, a nose dive taken so quick Alec would have never been able to prepare himself for it. . Once they had hit this first low, there would be no end to the ups and downs up their relationship afterwards. One minute their relationship was perfect, the next they were on the verge of a breakup. Alec felt like he was walking on eggshells each time her was around Pea, worried something he would do(or wouldn't do) or say would upset her. It left him uneasy, anxiety building in the pit of his stomach though one could hardly say it was her fault. Alec had a tendency to fall to old habits. A minor disagreement and Alec would find himself so unnecessarily worried and cautious, preparing for the worst. He was very sensitive to anything that went on between them and today was no different.
It was particularly clear that today he had messed up; he made a mistake. It was a shame today of all days was the days Alec had let himself slip up, the fall ball no less. The two had planned to meet up before the ball, they had a few things to sort out and Alec promised he'd be there. He didn't show up. It was no excuse, however, he had gotten caught up in back and forth nervous pacing around his dormitory. It was hard to explain where the sudden nervousness had come from, and even harder to explain with it stopped him from showing up. Alec had resolved he was not going to try to explain. Show up at the fall ball hope for the best, have a banquet of white roses for her to hopefully smooth it over.
Speaking of showing up at the ball- Alec released a breath he hadn't realized he been holding back at he arrived at the entrance to the Courtyard, entrance to the fall ball. The courtyard was a sight to see, each year ball decorations always tended to outdo themselves, this year was no different, it helped that everyone involved seemed to have an eye for decoration. There was the silent hope that this year the ball would go off without a hitch, several preventive measures taken, the mess that was last year's fall ball stayed ever so present looming in his mind.
The several 'what if' questions pranced around in his mind despite his best efforts to quiet them. As Alec waited as the entrance on the ball for Pea his eyes stayed alert(and yet despite being alert he somehow does not notice Opeila Winters here), watching with an air of caution as he went over an apology in his head. Thinking over what he could possibly say to Pea for standing her up earlier that day. Out of the corner of his eyes the Gryffindor would spot a familiar snake, quickly his face soured at the sight and he glanced away... It meant Hana was here, but it also meant Cu Sith was as well. Not so great. It reminded him of the whole petting zoo idea for the ball which had off-put Alec from the get go, to think he could try to convince others away from that one. Avoidance was the best tactic here.
