Lets not make this awkward
Kayla waited tentively in the grounds as she walked back and forth across the grounds, honestly regretting the letter she had sent to Nico, just the day before. Gods, this was going to be awkward. Kayla never knew herself to be awkward, or lost for words, or even worried, for a matter of fact. But it meant nothing, obviously. The ball was tommorow, and almost everyone Kayla knew was going; she wanted to go, but not alone. So, she sent an owl out to a friend, asking if he could meet her here in the following day.
But Kayla had arrived earlier than she would have done on a normal occasion, unusual because she was nearly always late. She did a couple of nervous cartwheels to calm her down, but ended up falling hopelessly on each try.
"Stupid," she muttered to no one in particular, while kicking a pebble to vent her feelings. But as she raised her arms up once more, in an attempt to cartwheel again, she saw- no she heard, someone was behind her, not too far away, but behind her.
"Kill me now," she muttered before turning around and facing the pale figure of Nico Cirillo. He looked a lot healthier now that he wasn't drenched in rain, his black hair,which had stuck to his face, was now fluffy and curly.
"Hiya, Nico!" she said, trying her best to not sound as awkward as she felt. "I know the letter I sent you was very vague and stuff, but I just wanted to ask if you're going to the ball tomorrow? I'm going, and if you go, you wanna go with me? Just as friends, of course," she added. She rocked back and forth on her heels as she waited for his answer

Hiya Nico, you have time to meet me in the grounds tommorow at around three? Or four, whichever time is okay, I just wanna ask something! See you there, if you show up.

Lets not make this awkward
Just the day before, Nico had been half asleep in Charms class, when a big tawny owl flew in the window and landed on his desk. A very rude owl it was, throwing all of his "notes" everywhere. But Nico didn't particularly care about the mess it had made once he read the note attached to its leg.
Kayla wanted to meet him on the grounds of Hogwarts the next day at three.
"Why?" That was the one question floating around in his head all day.
But now, back to the present time.
Nico walked out from the courtyard and onto the grounds, where there was sunshine, happy students, and pretty much everything Nico despised.
Once he saw Kayla he slowed his pace and stopped next to a tree. He watched her fail miserably to perform a cartwheel. "At least she tried, though her efforts are useless. She doesn't have the correct form."
Moving away from his hiding place under the tall tree, he walked up to her.
"Nice cartwheels, or whatever you wish to call those, er- stunts, I suppose."
Before she turned around, he heard Kayla mutter something along the lines of, "Kill... now." Nico had heard that from snakes, but not people.
Once she had turned around, he couldn't even open his mouth before Kayla launched into a super fast, very awkward-sounding speech. "The ball? You want to go to the ball with me?" Nico paused and looked up at the sky in deep contemplation. "Well, you see... I definitely had other plans... Because, you know, I'm always awfully busy with.... people, of course. But I suppose I could maybe attend the ball with you, madam."
