He hmph'd with a little smirk of amusement. Squirmy Miss Sable was slippery with her words, as well, and did not answer his question at all. "We'll see who's the last one talking, shall we?" he mused. "Best of luck to you," he added. The words came naturally from his mouth -- more as a 'polite' formality, because he did not mean it.
He watched with satisfaction as his Tickling Charm struck his opponent, but couldn't move out of the way of her Dancing Feet Spell. The familiar sensation in his legs brought a look of annoyance to his face -- an expression quite incongruent with the jovial dance he was tapping out.
What Miss Yalinsky said was true, and no amount of verbal jesting with Miss Sable seemed to prevent her from trying to take him down first. "The fact is, it's not so easy to take me out," he reassured his partner. "So, just worry about trying to catch up." And he would've said this with a small grin and a wink to his partner if his face wasn't contorted with the irritation of getting hit with his least favorite spell.
Hell, he was going to be furious if he got knocked out before the Ravenclaw did.

The excitement from previous hits was fading away. Kamila's spells hadn't done anything for several rounds now, and while odds were currently in her and Akira's favor how long would it remain this way?
Kamila focused on her next move, there was no way she was going to let that little slime ball slither away again.

Gem let out a silent cheer as Akira's feet began to blur, but she didn't have much time to celebrate. The sensation started as a tingly wave across her ribs, but as it got more intense by the second, she realised that she'd been hit as well.
Hogwarts's lone defender bent at the waist, tears of mirth streaming down her face as she laughed uncontrollably. "Good one!" she gasped out, raising a shaky wand to fire back. "But--oh my god-- I'm still standing!"【☆】★【☆】★【☆】★【☆】★【☆】

Jake bit his lip from the tension as he stared at the remaining competitors. You could FEEL the competitive edge in the air. Gemima was not going to be taken out without a fight, and Akira seemed eager for the battle. Kamila just seemed confident as the three raised their wands.
Gemima might have been struggling with an intense inability to stop her laughter, but that didn't stop her from casting, as a fire-making spell shot towards Akira. The boy might have tried to dodge, but with his feet not cooperating, Akira was unable to avoid it! The sleeve of the dancing boy's outfit would start to light with a small flame that would send heat into his arm, and do a lot worse if it got bigger. If there was pain though, it still didn't seem to stop his jolly tap dance. Dueling was weird.
But the boy was not out either, even though Gemima's strategy seemed to be slowly whittling his energy away. He fired back with a knockback jinx of his own, which shot forward with an intensity that shocked Jake. Gemima managed to dodge at just the last second. Maybe she'd got lucky, because it was hard to aim a spell while dancing and on fire. But the two-on-one advantage was a hard one to overcome, and while Gemima had managed to hit Akira, and even dodge his spell, she was outnumbered, and for every spell she fired, two came back her way. This time, the second spell hit, and soon it was Gemima who was dancing, her steps and Akira's seeming to find an odd rhythm together, like they were listening to music that only they could hear. To make matters worse, she was still laughing, but Jake knew she HAD to be getting tired. Everybody did....only Kamila was untouched.
It was probably the dancing'est duel he'd ever seen.

His uniform caught on fire, and boy was he mad. Akira grit his teeth with a scowl as the flames spread, but he was more intent on taking Miss Sable out at this point than saving his own skin. The fact that his carefully-cast Knockback Jinx missed the little slime ball did nothing to quench his frustration.
“Good hit, Miss Yavlinsky,” he complimented his partner as her spell met its mark. As much as he didn’t want to admit it, he would need her help in the bird’s rampage against him.

Aha! Another hit. "Thank you," Kamila replied to Akira, "Hopefully you can hit her next time. Then we can show her that dueling is about more than being a slimeball that slithers away from spells."
"You really should have been in Slytherin. Ravenclaws aren't known for their sliminess." Kamila said to Gemima.

She huffed in frustration and raked her hair out of her eyes. Sweat dripped down her forehead, and she ached all over. Would she make it through this duel with her pride intact?
She raised an eyebrow at Kamila’s comment, all while preparing to fire another spell. “One of my dearest friends is a Slytherin, so I’ll take that as a compliment. It’s certainly kept me safe through all this…”【☆】★【☆】★【☆】★【☆】★【☆】

The fire on Akira's uniform was growing, and it was the first thing that truly seemed to shake the boy's demeanor. He didn't seem nervous, and didn't show pain. But his face DID change...he looked mad. Jake watched, his hand tightening on his wand. He hated when people started casting fire. But somehow it looked like this one was going to be worse for Gemima. Was this going to be what made Akira mad enough to strike back even harder? Or would it be the opening Gemima needed? The Ravenclaw girl looked frustrated too. Her feet wouldn't do what she wanted them to, and though her laughter was beginning to fade, not being able to stop dancing was going to make dueling harder, ESPECIALLY when facing two opponents at once.
Jake saw what was going to happen right before it did. Gemima's arm began to thrust forward, but as her legs began to turn in a glorious twist her aim began to shift, and the knockback jinx meant for Kamila would shoot right back for Akira! (It was like there was a MAGNET on him in this duel or something). It had been a close one - just a split second from getting to cast the right way, but the spell sailed right past Akira who only had to side step it a little bit to dodge out of the way. It was a momentary mistake, just one bad timing, but the effects could prove devastating for the lone Hogwarts duelist left.
Akira, despite the flames on his arm, saw the girl's lapse, and fired back a knockback jinx of his own. At the same time, Kamila sent an Incndio. Kamila had called the girl slimy, and it sounded mean to Jake, but there WAS something slippery about her. She'd been able to survive for THIS long. But now Gemima was alone, she couldn't stop her feet from moving, and though she tried, she couldn't escape two spells at once. A knockback jinx would collide with her, driving her backwards, and with her dancing legs it would take everything she had to remain on her feet! Her energy would be fading quickly. She had been putting up a valiant effort, but was she about to be overwhelmed?
Jake leaned forward, still feeling the tension as his eyes flickered between all three competitors. He couldn't help but root for Gemima - she was the only Hogwarts student left after all and as the only person on her team against two she was an underdog. But he didn't know if she could do it by herself. That shot could be the one that made the difference...could she survive or was it the beginning of the end?
