Someone I bumped into PV Wynn Wen

Wynn was lost. Hopelessly, utterly, undeniably lost.

To think he even left his dorm early only to land in the exact situation he desperately wanted to avoid.

The long and winding moving staircases were still a mysterious enigma to the first-year Ravenclaw. How was anyone supposed to remember where each one led to, especially when their destinations seemed to change at random? There even were staircases that had vanishing steps that he needed to remember to jump (he was pretty sure those would be considered safety hazards if it were in the muggle world, how and why they got approved during the construction of Hogwarts was beyond him), which baffled Wynn further. But, that was part of the school's charm, he supposed. Not that the charm was of much help when finding his way around.

He had been tailing a few students from behind so he wouldn't be lost when traversing the confusing corridors, but he somehow managed to lose sight of them at a turn of the corner. "Oh no! Where'd they go? I was right behind them!" He yelped, a hint of panic showing in his voice.

As he tried to find his way around, he accidentally bumped into a blonde-haired girl in Ravenclaw robes. "S-sorry!" He frantically exclaimed as the tips of his ears blushed a rosy red. Nice going, Wynn, such a great first impression you made there. Thankfully, the girl didn't seem to mind as she greeted him with a welcoming smile.

"Oh um, yes please!" He replied as he quickly reached out to accept the handshake, not wanting to appear rude. "My name is Wynn, Wynn Wen," he said, rather timidly.

When she bumped into the boy, he turned around, blushing frantically.
Bailey smiled and said “Hey! Don’t worry about it- I’m the one who bumped into you. Sorry about that- I can be soo clumsy at times.”
Sticking her hand out to shake his hand, he shook her hand and introduced himself as Wynn Wen. He seems rather timid, but bailey had been as well her first year.
He accepted her offer for her to lead him to dinner, and she smiled, setting off down the corridor.
Looking over her shoulder making sure he was following, Bailey said “So… what house are you in? Have I seen you in the Ravenclaw common room…? You seem familiar… but I could have seen you in the corridors too.”
Walking a little farther, Bailey pushed through a fake panel that led the the main corridor that was thankfully empty.
“There we go-back to the main corridor. I thought I took a wrong turn…”
Groaning, Bailey turned the corner and saw a dead end.
“And… I was right. I am SO sorry- I took a wrong turn. I don’t usually take the hidden passageways, but I was trying to avoid the crowd. But… good news I know how to fix this- we just have to go… through this closet, which isn’t a closet, and then at the end of it we’ll be in the main hall next to the great hall!”

Wynn stuck behind Bailey like a piece of stubborn bubblegum, determined not to lose sight of who he was following this time.

“I-I’m in Ravenclaw as well!” Wynn responded. “I do stay in my dorm a lot…” he trailed off. He scarcely spent time in the common room, spending most of his free time in his dorm and sometimes the library, if he could find his way to it.

Wynn watched in amazement as Bailey went through a fake panel in the wall. He wasn’t even aware of their existence! Though, he probably should have expected it, the place had moving staircases after all. Fake panels should have been the least surprising discovery to him.

A stream of questions ran through his mind. Who in the world designed this castle? Why did it need so many hidden passageways? And how many people know the entire castle like the back of their hand? Probably not a lot, he assumed. There seemed to be endless secrets embedded im the castle walls, and he could see why so many people loved to explore it.

The two of them hit a dead end while his mind was wandering off. “Oh no thats fine! I think its amazing you know so many secret paths. And if we do hit another dead end, all we have to do is turn back, right?” Wynn said after Bailey apologized, not wanting her to feel bad. The closet that wasn’t a closet made sense since it was sitting in the hall alone. He wondered if it worked similar to the vanishing cabinets he had heard about.

“How long did it take for you to learn all these shortcuts?” He asked out of curiosity.

Laughing at Wynns comment about staying in his dorm, Bailey smiled and glanced back at him. She smiled again and said “I did that too, in my first year. Then I joined a bunch of clubs and I’m now the social butterfly of the castle. I think only one other person, @Kim Sato is in as many clubs as I am.”
Smiling at the mention of Kim, baileys best friend, Bailey wondered if Wynn noticed. he probably didnt… that’s ok. I’m doing he knows Kim, though there’s always the chance he does- kim and I know practically everyone
After they hit a dead end and she apologized, he said that it’s ok, and worst comes to worst they kept back tracking until they quit hitting head ends.
“Very true- that’s what comes of being an introvert. And I was a serious needy introvert year one and half of last year. I found a group of friends, Kim, @Colin McCoire and a few other people who got me out of my shells. And I know so many secret passageways because Colin loves to explore so I’ve spent several hours- well more than several hours- exploring the castle and the grounds with him. Some of my favorite memories of Hogwarts are exploring with him. All of them include my friends- and I hope yours will to!”
Taking a turn B wasn’t sure of, she found the main corridor.
Leading Wynn forwards, she got them into the Great hall.
“There we go! Do you want to eat with me- id love to get to know you better! And if you want I can introduce you to a few people.. Only if you want to. I won’t be offended if you want to eat alone or with other friends!”

Wynn’s ears perked up at the mention of Kim. “I’ve met him on the train ride before!” Wynn said, referring to his first year Hogwarts train ride. “He’s a really cool person,” he commented, thinking of the conversations they’ve shared and all the delectable sweets Kim had gifted him.

Listening carefully to Bailey’s story, Wynn wondered if he would also make memories like hers during his time at Hogwarts. A good place to start would probably be spending more time with his acquaintances, elevating their relationship to that of friendship. But that would require Wynn to come out of his shell and socialize, something he wasn’t really confident in. He knew that fear was something he had to conquer, though. Maybe that small spark of revelation and courage was what prompted him to accept Bailey’s invitation to dine together.

“I-I would love to eat together!” He exclaimed. Unlike his muggle school cafeteria that had lots of separate seating, Hogwarts’ Great Hall had four long tables— one for each house. That meant Wynn would always have to be seated near someone else. While dining by himself didn’t really bother him, he couldn’t help but feel a bit glum when he was caught between different groups of close friends, none of them his. It made him miss Ben and Kira, his two childhood friends from muggle primary school, making him conscious of his loneliness. Maybe this time, that would change.
