"Thanks Dove! You're really good at braiding hair."
Sirin admired Dove's craftsmanship--her hair was completely transformed now. As everyone began to dig in, Sirin decided that it was her turn too. She picked up a sandwich and began munching happily. Halfway through, she noticed Colin ask about the avocado.
"Oh, Colin---that's avocado. Avocado paste, to be exact. It's really good, give it a try!"
Sirin encouraged others to try the avocado--her favorite. As they all sat munching, Sirin decided to spice things up a little. What better than a little game? Should they play pin-the-tail-on-the-threstral? Or should they play a little icebreaker to get to know each other? Sirin decided to go with the crowd's decision.
"Soo...do ya'll wanna play pin the tail on the threstral...or an icebreaker to get to know each other? I brought the game board, and I'm already prepared for the icebreaker game."
Sirin waited for the crowd's response. A friendly vote wouldn't hurt.
"All in favor of the icebreaker, raise your hand! All in favor of the pin the tail game, raise your hand!"

Colin listened while Dove explained about cooking and why she'd invited them to eat with her. He nodded. New friends. That was probably as good a reason as any! He did startle, though, when she said that the Elves didn't have anything better to do than cook!

"Well, they probably have nothing better to do, right? Uh, I mean- Sorry, that sounded, like, really rude. What I meant was, they might be bored? So they cook! Like I do when I get bored. It's pretty calming, actually."

He gave her a queer look. "Just a little rude, maybe! I mean, well ... ! I don't know, really! We've got Elves at home, and they do quite a lot of the cooking and stuff. But I reckon they must do other things too. I've never even asked!" He looked at Dove, thinking that was something he'd have to investigate.

As they ate, Sirin explained what the green stuff on the sandwiches was. "Acavado? It looks sus. And it sounds like a curse!"

Colin delicately peeled back the bread from one of the sandwiches. He got a little of the strange green stuff on one of his fingers.

"YEEP!!" he cried out! He shot up off the seat and frantically shook his hand, trying to get it off! He didn't want to lick it, and he didn't want to wipe it on his shirt! "It's sticky! And it attacked me!" he said. Colin finally found a napkin and wiped the avocado paste off his finger.

Sitting back down, he gently poked at the sandwich, just in case it decided to jump up and have another go at him. He leaned down close and delicately sniffed at the stuff. "It doesn't smell like much, does it?" He got brave and licked a bit off the corner of the bread. "Mm! It doesn't taste like much either, does it! Kind of creamy and smooth!"

He plopped the avocado spread bread back onto the sandwich. "I still think it's a bit sus, the way it attacked me!" But he bit into the sandwich and ate it all the same.

Carefully, Nicole set the drinks down, heading Sirin's warning of being careful. It would be a shame if the bottles had broken. Already, food had been laid out on the table, everything smelling delicious. Happily, Nicole dug in, enjoying the food everyone had brought--it seemed drinks had been a good choice, as the majority of the items brought were food. Nicole was glad for the chance to relax and eat; it seemed like it had been a tiring day, somehow.

Sirin suggested a game or icebreaker, which sounded like a good idea to Nicole. "I think game, personally," she said, smiling. "I feel like I've been working all day! But I'm good with whatever everyone else chooses, either way."

She tucked a loose strand of hair behind her ear, and took a sip of butterbeer (which, thankfully, had miraculously remained cold). "Thanks for suggesting this, by the way, Dove," she added. "I've got to admit, it's a bit random, but I appreciate it. It's a good idea."

"Adavaca --- what? Must be something muggle." Dove said the weird green goo didn't actually attack him. He gave her a rather sharp look of suspicion. Under his breath, he said: "It totally did attack me!"

And then she told how she'd made the stuff attack her own Da! Colin's eyes were wide with disbelief. "You mean you let that stuff attack your own family!" He saw that she laughed a bit. Maybe this vadacavo stuff wasn't really all that dangerous after all. Still seemed highly suspicious, though.

And then she started up about breaking ice. And thestrals. He knew about thestrals, but not about breaking ice. The other girls seemed to know all about breaking ice, too. "Oh, thestrals! Those are like really thin skeleton horses! They aren't creepy. Well, not really..." He didn't want to say too much more about thestrals. He hadn't come across one yet, but surely he'd see it when they did meet. He switched over to the ice breaking game in stead.

"Say, Dove? Wh---why is breaking ice a game? I didn't bring any ice with me. Is that a muggle game!?" He got out his wand, suddenly excited! "Oh! I know! I can make snow and we can pack that into ice, and then we can break that!"
