A Touch Too Far PV Finished

Howard was stunned as he stared into Bloom's eyes. The sheer level of emotion funneling through him threatened to crush the teenager. Not only had a perfect night come crashing to a terrible end, but he had now hurt the girl he loved because yet again he was unable to control himself. It wouldn't be but a moment later that the shock would slip away and in its place a crippling guilt would creep. He had pushed her too far. In the passionate moment he had forgot to ensure her comfort. It should have been his priority to protect her in a moment of such vulnerability, yet he he failed in his duty to her. Not only this, but he had let that infamous temper of his take over again. The beast he thought long slayed had reared its ugly head. Howard didn't have to look down to know he had drawn blood as the aroma filled his nostrils. How could he have let himself come to this? Just the thought of anyone hurting Bloom would have sent him into a frenzy, but in the end the blame would fall at his feet. A moment of emptiness would flitter through his soul and if he could have blinked himself out of existence he would have, yet the heartache that followed cruelly reminded him of just how alive he was.

Howard would visibly flinch as she demanded to be returned to the ground below. Never before had she spoken to him this way. So harsh, so cold. Not that he didn't deserve it. His mouth opened and closed several times as he searched for the words that never came. The reality of it all had cleared his mind of lust and love and he could see now that he had gone a touch too far. In truth, Howard would have waited an eternity for Bloom. He never would have held it against her or wanted to pressure her into something she was not ready for, yet it was too little too late. His actions and words seemed to have ruined it all as he let her rejection hurt him in a way she did not mean to. If only he was more mature he could have explained this to her. He could have just told Bloom how much he loved her and apologized forgoing too fast, but Howard was not yet a man. So, the boy sat in stunned silence.

Howard watched as she examined the wound. The guilt only doubling as he watched the blood seep from the cut. If he could have ripped his claws from his finger in that moment he would have, but that pain would pale in comparison to the look she would soon give him. The look he had seen too many times before. Fear. It was clear as day on her beautiful and precious face. Howard's heart ripped in two. Their whole relationship had been built around trust, yet as his hand reached for Bloom she would scoot away, body shaking with emotion. The foundation they had so careful built now cracked and it was he who held the hammer. The pain and sorrow Howard felt would rise to his throat, but he would not let it escape as it threatened to strangle him. He would not lay that on her as well. No, Howard would simply nod and prepare the broom.

If Bloom joined him he would carefully float them down towards the castle's door in silence. It took every ounce of him not to break down in front of her, but he would. A part of him wished to see her upstairs yet another moment of shame in her presence seemed unbearable. If she did not engage him any further he would watched her walk away. The blood stained tears would fall as soon as she turned away from him. Howard would slink back to his dormitory and the rest of the night would be filled will silent sobs as self loathing and guilt tucked him into sleep.

It was an eerie silence between the two. All that could be heard were the rustling of trees off in the distance and the laughter and chatter of other students down below on the ground. Bloom, staring back into Howard's eyes, did not know what to do or what to say, and from his silence, she believed he was thinking the same.

Bloom gave another hiss to herself when her thigh had throbbed for a split second, reminding her of what had just happened and why there was silence to begin with. She looked back at her scratch and saw that the blood was beginning to coagulate, but her leg looked like a bloody mess.

Slowly, she got up and joined him on the broom. She mounted the broom from behind him and slowly wrapped her arms around his waist. The feeling was different this time. Her head did not rest against his back, instead, she tried to provide enough space between him and her. She could still smell his natural scent, a scent that everyone had to call their own, but it didn't make her hormones rush. It only made her eyes water.

Was this the end of their relationship? He probably wanted nothing to do with her anymore. For him to scratch her out of anger made Bloom think that she meant nothing to him now. She believed that he probably thought she was just someone he could get laid with, and since she stopped it, now it was over. Bloom thought he loved her like she loved him.

But all was done. Bloom ruined the night. Bloom ruined their relationship. It was all her fault. Her heart was breaking into a million pieces and nothing would be able to piece it back together. For a moment, although the tears in her eyes were falling uncontrollably, she felt numb. Bloom shut down her thoughts and feelings.

Her feet touched the ground and she silently unlatched her arms around Howard and got off the broom. She began to slowly walk towards the castle. She was now fearful of him, but in a way, still yearned for him. However, with her emotional shut down, she couldn't look at him. She already blamed herself for ruining everything. She did exactly what she promised she wouldn't do when things got hard: she walked away.

The minute her head hit the pillow on her bed, her emotions turned back on. Although her thigh throbbed, her chest felt more pain than anything on her body. She silently cried herself to sleep with a broken heart.
