A Handful of Coins and a Thermos of Tea
Edith was nervous to say the least. She had kissed her parents and siblings goodbye and boarded the train, letting the attendant take her hefty trunk before she moved to find a seat in a compartment nearby. She chewed the inside of her cheek as she slowly paced down the hall, trying not to move too slow in case anyone was behind her. Thankfully, she had found an empty compartment and she managed to shove the window down so she could lean out of it a little bit and talk to her parents.
As the train whistle blew, her mother handed her a thermos of tea and she was blown kisses as the train started to move. She said her goodbyes before settling into the plush bench, holding the thermos to her chest as the train accelerated as much as it could. A bit of a sinking feeling came to her chest, the corners of her lips being tugged downward along with her heart. Nine months. Nine months without her family. But she always had break! And she could write if she wanted to! Of course she wanted to, she'd send them a letter ever week if she had to. She slowly opened the thermos and gently blew the tea as steam rose from it. It was the perfect shade of light brown and a sad little smile came to her lips. "She made it just the way I like it.." she mumbled softly to herself, carefully taking a sip to savor the fragrant sweetness of her tea while she watched the scenery shift as they slowly came closer to their destination.

“Oh my goodness!” Edith jumped a bit as the compartment door rattled open to show the young blond girl while she was stumbling over herself into the compartment. Edith set her tea to the side and offered a hand to help her up. “Are you alright? Took quite the fall there,” She let the blonde explain herself and let a soft smile tug at her lips, the sadness of leaving her family now gone and replaced with the warming feeling of excitement. A friend! She seemed nice enough, a bit frazzled but it’s not like that was uncommon on first days of school, magical boarding school no less.
“You’re more than welcome to sit with me, I’ve got plenty of room and I’m always happy to meet someone new,” She gestured to the cushioned bench across from her as she sat back down and picked up her thermos to take another sip of tea before screwing the cap shut and setting it to the side on the bench. She stuck her hand out to the other girl, that same sweet smile on her lips. “I’m Edith. Edith D’Ambrosio. Pleased to make your acquaintance,” she introduced herself. “Where are you from?”

Pearl Looked at the girl. She felt relieved. The girl even helped her up! How nice. "Thank you!" did that sound too plain? It's so hard to talk to people...And then, she asked her to introduce herself. Oh dear... "I-I'm Pearl. I'm actually from London. My parents work at the ministry." She hoped she didn't sound too cocky. She didn't actually like how well known her parents were. It always caused trouble. That's why she left her last name out of her introduction. Although, if she asks, she asks, and it would be counter intuitive to say the least, if she refused to tell her last name. She took a deep breath. "So did you have any family going to Hogwarts? My parents and older brother went, and my parents were Ravenclaw, my brother Gryffindor. They're expecting me to be either Ravenclaw or Gryffindor, but I'm just happy to be accepted..." She waited eagerly for the girl's response.

"Oh that's cool! My mum said she was interested in working there as like an auror or something before she met my dad. Now she's an astronomer, we're from Cambridge" she nodded along as she shrugged off her outer robe and set it to the side, pulling her hair into a loose ponytail. It was starting to get a bit hot now that there were so many people on the train and the sun was coming in through the large windows. "Oh, not right now, I'm the eldest so it's just me" she gave a little shrug. "I feel a bit bad leaving them behind, my brother had been whining all summer about wanting to come with me." She let out a little laugh as she remembered how Vincent would cling to her and ask her about teaching him once she got back or maybe even hiding him in her robes or trunk. "I'm glad I got accepted too. My grandma said the family has a history Gryffindor or something but my mum insists that I'm fine in any house." She paused for a moment, looking over at the door. "When do you think the trolley lady's coming? My mum says the best things on there are the pumpkin pasties and licorice wands. Never really liked licorice if I'm honest."

Pearl looked at the girl. "I d-don't know when, but I do know that I prefer chocolate frogs and licorice wands. I like black licorice the best. U-uh... it's cool that your family has mostly been in one house. My parents are Aurors, but I rather not have the same attitude as them... I like the job, and I love my parents, but sometimes..." She sighed. "Gryffindor is a good house. My brother was in that one. Do you like quidditch? Or do you prefer instruments? I personally like both. I hope to be a seeker when I can, and I play the keyboard and clarinet." She started to open up more. She felt that it was nice that people weren't bothering her about her parents for once. Or girls asking her how to charm her brother into liking them. Those people she always turned down, and that is why her entire hometown hated her. Could she trust this girl? She didn't know yet. But Malidimus Geode and Amber Geode were popular Aurors....

This is an NPC used for MS Elements.
There was a pretty young girl, she looked a bit older than sixteen, with long blonde hair and a somewhat conservative but well-tailored outfit that lent to a casual observer the sense that she might be slightly older than the average Hogwarts student. A cream colored wool coat with a mandarin collar and pearlescent four-whole buttons. She was wearing a blush colored, thin turtleneck and a wine-colored scarf that was wrapped around her neck twice. She was smiley, but not in a 'nice' o a 'good' way, there was something unsettling about the expression, perhaps a lack of warmth as the expression never met her eyes.
Despite this, she opened the purse that was slung over her shoulder and handed the blond girl (Pearl Geode) something from her bag, it was round and shiny but not particularly noticeable during the brief exchange. "Something for luck, being your first year," she announced in a cheery voice that had that pitch of youth that her expression and attire seemed to lack. "I'd really watch out for those Gryffindors, they are nothing but a lot of bullies," she added.

The girl would look down at her wrist, not that there was a watch there and announce, "oh I have to get going!" She only needed to gather her purse and nothing else as she had only entered that cabin with a small purse not even large enough to carry a tiny dog. "My name is Meenauh," she claimed with a toothy expression. Did she have more teeth than she was supposed to? "Got to check on my boys!" With that the tall, blonde girl would be gone and something would come over Pearl several minutes later.Godmodding banned player: it was a little silvery pendant, the sort of thing that one would put on their lapel, maybe their backpack or even their hat. It somewhat resembled a person. A little stick figure.

Pearl would not return to Edith, rather she would find herself in another cell with another pair of students (because she had two threads in the Hogwarts Express and I need to reconcile this as well) Oli Hayes and Kinsley Merritt. [Feel free to join them to continue this story and to get acquainted with other players.]Again Godmodding banned player: perhaps it was the movement of the train that was getting to her. Motion sickness was causing her stomach to do flips, a pallor would come over her and she would abruptly leave the car and rush down the main aisle until she found an unoccupied stall where she could vomit. Many of the stalls occupied, she would have to rush off a ways to find an unoccupied stall.
